Hogwarts houses as tiny homes. Last up is Gryffindor! ❤️🦁

Gryffindor gives me a rebellious vibe but is also full of camaraderie, so I went for an open, lofted log cabin that invites people to stay for awhile. Around back is the sunken conversation pit against the pool, which flows into the main house. 😍 Outside the bedroom is a small balcony where your Sims can chat or workout.

Dollhouse - Mid Century

This is adorable! Much harder challenge than I thought it would be. Styled as a mid century family home. I did not player test this lot, so I don’t know how accessible the third floor attic is. I made a cut-a-way wall to make two rooms on the second floor for the laundry and bathroom. No CC!

Having realised recently that I suck at house building in the Sims 4, I was delighted to find out how much I enjoyed @smart--milk‘s dollhouse building style. So inspired by that and @fabflubs amazing single colour palette kitchens I decided to try a little personal challenge. Then, having had a lot of fun planning it out and getting started, I decided I should share it with you guys. I honestly have no idea whether or not anyone has already started a similar challenge, so if that is the case I apologise and promise that any similarity is purely coincidental. 

The basic idea is that I will build a house with 7 rooms, each one decorated in a single colour of the rainbow using the Sims 4 build/buy mode colour filter tool. My kitchen is shown above. No restrictions on style, CC, cheats etc... build YOUR way. Full details below the cut. If you do decide to have a go, I’d love to see your efforts so please tag me :)

THE STORY-MODE BUILD CHALLENGE

A couple of days ago, while wanting to create a starter home, I had trouble deciding what kind of starter home it would be. I decided to go into CAS and create a sim first, since I always move a sim into an empty lot and use their remaining funds for the build when creating starter homes anyway (a good tip for those struggling to stay within budget when building).

An idea struck, why not use story mode and let that give me ideas for the build? And hence, a challenge was born.

So... what is it about? Quite simple really...

In this challenge, your goal is to create a starter home customised for a sim (or household) you’ve created using the story mode in CAS. Your funds and theme of the build depends entirely on what career, aspiration, personality and skills that the story mode assigned your sim.

For example: When I created this challenge I had been assigned a sim that had the traits good, romantic, and snob, the aspiration was to become a nerd brain, she worked in the astronaut career, and had some skills in logic, rocket science, and cooking. The build would therefore be customised to this, and it had to include a rocket launching pad.

Another example (the one in the picture) is a Modern Bachelor Starter, built in Windenburg for a hotheaded secret agent who hates children, wants to be leader of the pack, and loves music. He started with some skills in logic, and DJ mixing, and had above average starting funds.

Quite straightforward don’t you think?

RULES:

Use Story Mode in CAS to create your sim. Multiple sims are allowed, but they have to be created with story mode. Remember to dress them in something that suits them, you can change their gender and appearance however you like (bonus points if you come up with a backstory for them).

Move them into an empty lot (or bulldoze a lot), do NOT use any money cheats (that includes freerealestate), both the lot and the house should be included in the budget you were given.

Start building, try to make sure you have all the items you need for their career and for building the skills they were given from the start. For example, if they have the guitar skill, they need a guitar so they can play.

You may use the items you have in the family inventory, that they’ve gotten from their careers.

For another level of difficulty: try limiting yourself to using only a selection of packs (which make sense for the sim that was created)

When you have finished your build, upload it to the gallery (preferably with information about the traits/career/skills the sim had) using the hashtag #storymodebuildchallenge

Fairy House!!

I decided to give @pois0nsage build challenge a go :) I’m pretty proud of it to say the least. I will be putting a speed build of my challenge up on my YouTube channel. 🛠️ Harry Potter Build Challenge Pt. 3

Hogwarts houses as tiny homes. Third on the list is Ravenclaw! 🦅💙

For Ravenclaw, a tower was pretty much essential. I find the terrain tools a bit challenging, so I was excited to push myself outside my comfort zone for this build. 😅 I wanted to emulate the open, airy feel of the Common Room in the shape of the building and its landscaping. This tiny home is full of skill activities, from an observatory to a chess table, and an endless supply of books. 📚

Hogwarts houses as tiny homes. Starting off with my very own, Slytherin 🐍💚

For Slytherin, it was really important to include a nod to the Black Lake which the Common Room looks out into. I went for an elegant, gothic style house reminiscent of the Malfoys and other prominent families whose generations have worn green and silver. You’ll also notice our very own Chamber of Secrets, the bathroom hidden behind the bookcase.

Rainbow Rooms Challenge room number 2 - Violet Dining Room. 

I am finding this piecemeal way of building so much easier than the overwhelming sensation of building and decorating a whole house at once!  Also, huge love and thanks to @peacemaker-ic for such a perfect palette on these beautiful items (that I strongly suspect will help with the rest of the rainbow too uwu).

We’re Going Deeper Underground

We have a new client, Terrance Cophus, he is after an underground home, that's right a home built underground. It must have two storeys down there and a very natural looking exterior, he doesn’t want any trespassers mistaken his new home for a park.  It must have 2 bedrooms, both of which must have their own bathrooms and he wants to be self sufficient, so a vegetable garden is a must. .
