Hercules VS. Zak - A Fan Story

So, I published this awhile back, but after seeing @jayjay667's super cool fanart of it, decided to share here.

Hercules runs into Zak, they talk, and then other things sure happen after that. Maybe some scraps and scratches.

Which fleet you rather stay with? Terror Zero Five or Star Killer Seven? Regardless, they keep you captive against your will (after they find your unconcious body on top of drift wood out at sea).

This was originally be a cursed doodle dump, but I'm in a creepy (and platonic yandere) mood so yeah

And also, quick note, you can immediately tell that Zebedee is the only one that doesn't have those pin pricks eyes, this is an indication that he's really not that crazy unlike the rest of the two fleets. Could he help you to get out and send you back home? Possibly, yet again, it was maybe a facade. How scandalous...

once again, Zorran is trying to reason with incompetent individuals for whom he is reluctantly forced to answer, and today he once again listened to zero's complaints

@justatesfan I'm So Sorry this took me a million years to post 💀 Here are some Zeds for you! (Mostly Zorran because he's my favourite oops)

Zebedee has an inherent soft spot for switchers, and cares about the well-being of Zip and Zug much more than the rest of the fleet and his captain. Tries to keep it hidden most of the time, to avoid mockery

if Zak isn't gloating about something, he's complaining. No in between

Zip and Zug bicker constantly. They always end up having arbitrary arguments over the smallest things, and it gets on everyone's nerves.

When he was a younger tug, Zorran used to whistle through his gap constantly. Doesn't really anymore, but one will slip out if he's angry or nervous enough. (one time he accidentally did it in front of Sunshine, and was so humiliated, even though Sunshine doesn't care)

Zorran really enjoys music. Some nights, he'll sneak away from the zero dock and go hang around the bridge café to listen to the Jazz bands play. Often chats with Grampus on these nights.

Yes, Captain Zero is a bootlegger. Zorran is often the one who gets assigned the job to transfer the alcohol, these jobs happen late at night and as a result poor Zorran doesn't get a full nights rest often. (that's why he's so cranky all the time)

Zebedee is the only zed who's patient with Zip and will actually answer his questions. (just as long as the others aren't around)

Zip is still new to the Zero Fleet, having only been bought a few months before the events of Sunshine. As he gets more comfortable with the other Zeds, he's going to start talking back more, just you see.

Zak sleeps like the dead, and snores loud enough to wake it.

Zorran absolutely HATES getting dirty, he's not a germophobe, he just has sensory issues and hates the feeling. Always tries his best to get out of any dirty work (often by just making Zip or Zug do it for him). He's almost as bad at Top Hat in that regard.

Zorran also became a bit of a hypochondriac after the events of Quarantine, even though he didn't even get infected.

Zorran is Captain Zero's favourite tug out of the fleet. And Zero doesn't even make an effort to hide it.

Zorran has and will threaten dock workers, mainly clients of Zero, Zak does it too, but way more often and to basically everyone.

Zug's old Captain was Hungarian and that's why he has an accent.

OK. I want to talk about Zak, Zorran and Zebedee for a bit. And no one is going to stop me.

They are what I like to call the ‘serious’ Z-Stacks, that or ‘Captain Zero’s crime squad’.

So I love to headcanon that Zak and Zorran are always at each other’s throats. At first because they had a genuine dislike, then growing to the only way these two interact as friends.

Zebedee, on the other hand, just cheers them on from the side. He doesn’t like to get involved personally, but as long as everyone is having fun he will egg on his friends. No one ever really holds this against him, as on average he doesn't favour either Zak or Zorran.

But the three have been through enough together that Captain Zero trusts them with almost anything, and that trust is mostly well-placed. There are definitely times when they operate on a ‘what Zero doesn’t know won’t hurt him’ basis. He only occasionally finds out.

So yeah, they get to do their thing, while Zip and Zug are just messing around and never taking anything seriously. Now wonder Zero prefers the trio when it comes to more serious (or less-than-legal) jobs…
