There's a saying that a bunch of tacticool gun nuts who do shooting and CQB drills religiously like to toss around a lot that I think condenses this concept perfectly: "Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast."
When you pick up a sword for the first time you will be slow and awkward. This is frustrating, but refuse the temptation to try and become a “faster” fencer. Chasing after speed is like trying to catch smoke. If you try and pursue speed, all you will accomplish is haste. Haste is the enemy of 1st class fencing.
Speed is a lie the untrained mind tells itself when it sees an action it cannot follow. The truth is a combination of timing, control, and fluidity. Fluid motion, even done slowly, will always arrive before a hasty strike. Control will allow you to move without wasteful motion that will slow you down. Timing will eliminate the need to move fast almost entirely. There is no need to get somewhere fast so long as you get there at the right time.

Saw some discussion about it so I’ve been thinking about Arknights designs and what sets it apart for me/why it got me in the first place and I think it really comes down to the designs on the 3 star units, Beagle, Kroos, and Fang in particular. (Hibiscus too but to a lesser extent for reasons I’ll get to in a sec)
The low star units are gonna be most peoples first exposure to the games designs, especially when I first started at launch and the pool of units was just way smaller in general. I remember thinking it was cool that they all had company logo’s/ID’s etc to group them together, even if out the gate I didn’t what RI really was or did yet, they clearly belonged to the same group
Getting several three stars out the gate I appreciated seeing that Hibiscus, my first medic, was wearing the same kind of blue exam gloves that I’d used in my previous career in the medical field. It felt like a good bit of attention to detail, the medic wearing realistic gloves despite the otherwise tacticool designs, neat!
But I then remember noticing it on Fang first, and then on Kroos and Beagle as well as I gathered my starting roster, they all wore those same nitrile exam gloves I was familiar with. Now it made sense for the medic but why was my frontline Lancer wearing medic equipment?
Of course shortly after that early confusion I continued the story and learned more about what Rhodes is, a medical company first and foremost. It was very cool to me to realize that the groundwork for what kind of place RI is was laid in my mind by that small practical character detail
Rhodes Island is a pharmaceutical company, so it’s basic rank and file are reminiscent of medical first responders. Those gloves aren’t practical for wielding a spear or firing a crossbow, but they are evocative of what Rhodes is here to do so the feeling comes across and circles back around to seeming practical
A friend of mine who works in game dev occasionally says “people don’t want realism as often as they say they do, they want believable.” and I think this is a good example of that for me. Those gloves make me believe the person wearing them is here to do medical relief or give aid despite wielding a spear, shield or crossbow
They say to me “I’m here to help”
There’s been some highs and lows of designs since then, but I think that detail of the three star designs is what really sold me on the practicool vibes Arknights uses a lot and why I’ve come to enjoy it in some of their other looks

Can you explain what you dislike from Pepe's design? I'm fairly neutral on her, and sure there are plenty of more interesting NPCs people have wanted, but I'm honestly shocked at how vehement some people (not you specifically) are about her.
This might sound purist but she does not look or feel like an AK character in the slightest. I don't mean that from a rigid standpoint of purism, I really don't, it's just, when a friend showed me her art months ago (this character has existed in the game since before this banner), I asked him what game was that character from, and he said, no, yeah, Arknights. I thought he was pulling my leg until he showed me exactly where she shows up in the game (not in Global as of the making of this post) and it was really jarring.
Basically, there's two main pillars here:
The first is that I am not the demographic. I don't think Namie is a bad artist but I'm not the demographic for her art, so to speak. It's merely a matter of taste and I don't think her art is bad, it's just not for me, and that's not even an absolutist statement, I like Mizuki a lot! But yeah, in general, I'm not the demographic.
The second is that the design just feels like... Very alien to the setting of Arknights, putting her more in the Conviction category (who is explicitly a joke character) than anything else. Being different is not bad at all, but I think there's got to be at least some cohesion in either the design philosophy, shapes, or elements in a design that grounds it as Someone that I could feasibly meet in this world, even in the case of eccentricity. If you showed me Peppe in a vacuum without me knowing she's an AK character off rip, I would Not At All guess she is an AK character. There's a lot going on with that design, and nothing conveys "Arknights" besides the monitor on her thigh. She's closer in design to a Final Fantasy Tactics Advance character than she is to an Arknights character:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the more cutesy designs, such as Suzuran or Eyjafjalla, have surface tacticool design choices included in them to ground them as characters that live in a world like Terra and work with its dangerous, hostile elements, be that merely the wilderness or the deadly cancer rocks, with Suzuran wearing several tactical/survivalist pouches and Eyja having a gasmask as a collar and heavy duty goggles on her arm.
Now, it's absolutely no surprise that Namie was going to design a limited character, in fact, I'd say it was inevitable: Namie is one of the most popular and beloved artists that have worked in Arknights, people have waited in lines for literal hours at events to meet her and buy something from her, and her characters are fan favorites in Arknights. I'm just a bit surprised that this is the design they roll out as the limited one, and I'll assume they were lax or just didn't check up on her design choices at all since She's A Big Name, and reckoned, we let her cook however she wants because she's always cooked success so far, but I think a little bit of a review process would've benefited the design.
I hope this explains my opinion on the character's design clearly. I don't feel negatively towards Namie, I just think this one ain't it, chief.

BEHOLD! FRUIT SALAD!
These three weapons all share the same identification of being a longer ranged, somewhat estranged cousin of another weapon, and all have needlessly long barrels. I really liked the idea of the Cherry H-3 Nozzlenose having a fruit-themed, more colorful design, so I gave the same treatment to the .96 Gal and Rapid Blaster Pro. The metal was made gold because it looks cool.
The Lime .96 Gal's kit stays constant with the tradition of giving the .96 a nonlethal, supportive sub weapon in the form of ink mine. While ink mines don't necessarily synergize with the weapon in any way, they're good for blocking flanks or helping out in reclaiming a zone, which plays into the .96's general role as a support weapon. I chose splashdown for the special with a similar idea to the Custom Explosher, with the intent of using it as a close-range area clear to help the .96 Gal when it gets rushed down by faster, higher DPS weapons.
This kit for the Cherry H-3 Nozzlenose uses suction bomb and Tenta Missiles, which are the sub and special weapons featured in the H-3 kits from Splatoon 2 that do not make an appearance again in Splatoon 3. Thanks to the vanilla H-3 Nozzlenose inheriting point sensor and Tacticooler to replace Ink Armor, and the H-3 D gaining a much more defensive kit of splash wall and Big Bubbler, I thought it would be fitting to give this rendition of the Cherry H-3 this kit, which allows it to be more offensive, utilizing suction bomb as a form of area denial to force opponents away, and allowing Tenta Missiles to benefit from the weapon's far-back position.
The Lemon Rapid Blaster Pro has burst bomb and Kraken Royale. Rapid Blaster Pro is, by nature, a supportive weapon through the use of chip damage and its position as an anchor. In a similar vein to the Deco kit, I wanted to give the weapon more opportunities for splats by itself. Yes, this is the second long-range blaster that I am giving burst bomb combo capabilities to. Will that stop me? No. As someone who can't aim with this thing, I think that Burst Bomb would make the weapon a little more forgiving, allowing any amount of damage from the bomb to finish off an opponent who's been tagged by a direct hit. As for Kraken, I see it as a special that can really skirmish, either driving opponents away from an objective, displacing them, or distracting them for teammates to come in and deal some damage. I think it would fit well into the Rapid Blaster's supportive role.

Here's Alkaloid for my Splatoon/Enstars AU! All weapons are referring to their Splatoon 3 kits, because that's what I'm most familiar with. I wanna give a shout out to @mdkm444 for making this fanart that inspired this whole AU in the first place. : )
More info on each character below the cut.⬇️
Hiiro
I'm giving him the highest honor I could bestow on a character... My main.
I think Splatana Deco fits him, and how he sees himself at the beginning. It's a very mobile weapon and aggro with a supportive kit. He can easily strife with opponents to draw fire from his teammates, while also setting up beacons, and setting of tentamissles to displace enemies.
The idea is that he mostly sees himself as his brother's "shield" at the beginning, and I feel like having a weapon that supports and takes fire suits that role.
As he grows and gets more comfortable with his place in Alkaloid, he would pick up more aggressive weapons. I just really like the idea of him with dualies. I think he has a lot of fun zipping around with dodge rolls. : )
He runs a lot of Quick Respawn abilities.
I think his backstory would stay mostly the same, actually.
Aira
He's 100% that guy who draws hearts in the enemy base.
He strikes me as the type of person who would play weapons that are meta without fully understanding WHY they're so good.
He started out playing vanilla Splash-o-matic, but he sucks so bad at Crab Tank. Mayoi thought something more mobile would suit Aira, so he recommended Inkbrush and Carbon Roller to him.
Hiyori wears his eye makeup the same way. This is a very important piece of Aira lore.
Mayoi
Mayoi has the biggest change to his backstory out of Alkaloid. He was originally an Octarian Soldier under DJ Octavio.
He was there for the Splat1 final boss and the Calamari Inkantation. He is NOT Agent 8, to be clear. He escaped after Marina, but before Agent 8. He wasn't in the subway. (But the idea of him in the subway is very fun, and that might be something to explore in an AU of this AU.)
He's a huge Squid Sisters fan.
He first escaped to Inkopolis, but it was too overwhelming for him, and he ended up traveling a lot before settling down in ES.
He plays a lot of weapons, and at knows a lot about the weapons he doesn't play. He's extremely skilled and knowledgeable. He's a fantastic coach, and everyone wants them to coach their teams! (Help him.)
Unfortunately, he is still Mayoi and still has severe anxiety! Despite how skilled he is, he's too scared to play alone and is pretty low ranked. That's why he got his status as an "underachiever."
Generally plays a lot of long ranged weapons to stay as far away from the action as he can. Snipewriter is his main, but E-Liter deserves an honorable mention.
Any closer ranged weapons he plays are more supportive than aggressive. This bad boy can pop out so many Inkstorms and Tacticoolers.
I probably should have added Hydra Splatling to his list instead of Heavy Edit tbh? But, eh, he can play both.
I think Snipewriter fits his main really well due to the fact that it has super long range, paints well, and has a supportive kit. At the time I'm writing this, it's also the best competitive weapon in Splatoon 3.
Tatsumi
His backstory is also similar to his canon one.
His leg got damaged and wouldn't repair itself when he respawned, so he had to get it removed it let it regrow naturally. Squids can do that, don't worry about it. : )
The guy who makes sure your base is 100% inked during Turf War.
Me and my friend both agreed it is extremely funny for Tatsumi to run around with his beginner weapon going like ^_^: so that's what he mains.
Then my other friend recommended me what they call "noob trap" weapons, which is mostly short ranged shooters (Sploosh and Aerospray) so I immediately added those to the list. I feel like they suit Tatsumi, and kind of mirror how inept he is with technology in canon.
Despite that, he's actually quite skilled! He does pretty well with short ranged shooters and has fun playing with them. They're his go to choice, but he's experienced in a lot of different weapon classes.
Anyway, you know how the Sunken Scrolls in Splatoon 3 introduced Squid Jesus--

Which characters have unique food-related quirks?
Marco: He takes his share of food only once and rarely goes for seconds unless he's starving.
Tarma: He takes large bites of his food and tends to down his drinks in just one or two gulps.
Eri: She frequently experiences loud belches or sudden sneezes shortly after finishing meals or consuming alcoholic beverages.
Fio: She always eats lentils on New Year's Day, believing they bring good luck and prosperity because they resemble coins. On the other hand, she avoids eating chicken on New Year's Day, as she thinks it's a symbol of bad luck. This is because chickens have a habit of scratching themselves backwards, which she views as a metaphor for moving backwards in life.
Trevor: He only starts eating at the table after observing others begin their meal.
Nadia: She often discusses her favourite food recipes, shares tips for achieving the perfect diet, and offers insights into what she's currently eating.
Ralf: Due to his belly being inflamed and bloody, he waits to eat until he's hungry to minimise the risk of vomiting or experiencing diarrhea shortly after.
Clark: When it comes to a handful of foods with layers, including burgers and wafer cookies, he separates the layers and eats each component individually.
Tequila: He whispers a quiet Catholic prayer before meals, expressing gratitude to God for the food he's about to enjoy.
Gimlet: He murmurs a brief Protestant prayer, asking God to bless his meal and pardon his tendency to make a mess.
Red Eye: As Ruoxi, she refuses to consume liquids without a solid accompaniment (e.g. crackers with soup); otherwise, she’ll regurgitate it and subsequently avoid eating it for several months. As Shufen, she quietly mumbles Buddhist mantras for 30 seconds before devouring her meals. Additionally, she eats her food in order from least favourite to most favourite, although she occasionally reverses this order.. As Liddy, she refuses to eat anything that’s been touched by someone else, fearing she might get germs and become sick.
General Morden: He opts for nutritious and homemade foods when in public, but privately indulges in junk food.
Doctor Amadeus: She prefers to drink all her beverages from wine glasses and avoids eating meat that has even a hint of pink inside, even if it's fully cooked.
Ptolemaios: He always finishes everything on his plate, even when he's full, because he hates the idea of wasting food.
Rootmars, Invader King, Pupipi, Avatar of Evil, Sol Dae Rokker, and Pocke: They have no food-related quirks worth noting
Walter: When he's finished eating and becomes absorbed in thought at the table, he often unintentionally taps his fork and knife together lightly.
Tyra: She usually waits until she's finished eating a meal before drinking a beverage unless she gets the hiccups or isn't enjoying her food.
Hyakutaro: Depending on what's on his plate, he eats his food from the least flavorful to the most flavorful.
Allen Jr.: He avoids meats with excessive chewy fat, finding it disgusting and believing it ruins the overall palatability of a meal.
Rumi: She always saves the bread for last because it fills her up very easily.
Madoka: She eats herring roe after each menstruation, believing it promotes fertility. During the winter solstice, she eats mandarins for good luck. However, she avoids peeling them in a spiral, believing this brings bad luck as it resembles a snake shedding its skin.
Sophia: She generally avoids using condiments, except for select foods like tacos and burgers.
Margaret: She lightly taps the food on her plate before eating to make sure it's not crispy and dry.
Leona: She prefers her alcoholic drinks lukewarm, finding icy cold temperatures unpleasant and difficult to swallow.
Heidern: He likes to separate his food by colour and ensure that everything is divided into equal portions.
Alisa Stewart: She'll eat foods that are near their expiration date but still safe to consume, even if it doesn't smell or taste quite right.
Nathalie Neo: She’ll have breakfast for dinner if she missed the meal earlier in the day or if she has a strong craving for it.
Roberto Nicola: He can't look at raw meat because it reminds him of the many instances he witnessed mutilated corpses and spilled gore on the battlefield.
President Marx: He uses utensils for every meal because he prefers to keep his hands and fingers clean.
Midori: She likes to dip her fries and bland chips into ice cream or milkshakes because of the sweet and salty combination.
Nayutaro: He always needs garlic in his dinners, but if it's not already included, he'll add a bit of garlic powder himself.
Issenmantaro: He has a preference for only eating foods that can be easily picked up with chopsticks or a spoon.
Nanahyakumantaro: He enjoys eating one noodle at a time and avoids eating microwavable foods, unless he particularly likes them.
Happyakumantaro: He always drinks his beverages through funky straws and enjoys adding tropical fruits to his cocktails.
Abul Abbas: He takes small sips of his beverage to savour its taste and avoid drinking it all before or during a meal.
Hilde Garn: He can't handle anything wrong with raw food, such as large brown spots on bananas or mushy blueberries.
Macba: He only eats and drinks when he's feeling extremely cheerful and optimistic or immensely stressed and needing a distraction.
Wired: He has a habit of mentally counting each bite of food he takes, finding it helps keep his mind sharp and focused, especially when he's not distracted by conversation or television.
Oghma: He often conducts a little taste test of his food to ensure it tastes good, is cooked just right, and doesn't have any unusual flavours.
Zoilo: He prefers to eat in dimly lit spaces, accompanied by sombre and chill music.
Anastasia: She prefers to keep different food groups separate, but will combine them if she thinks they'll complement each other well.
Wysteria: She eats her food one small piece at a time to fully enjoy its flavour and typically uses her hands, but switches to utensils for liquid foods.
Dilovar: He eats his meals in private because eating in front of people makes him feel uncomfortable, and he also dislikes listening to others chew their food. There are rare instances where he's willing to eat his meals with others and fully dismiss the chewing sounds they make, especially when he's in a really good mood.
Sagan: She always spices up foods she thinks look bland or unappetizing with spicy sauces like gochujang and chili garlic.
Logan: He eats his food from Z to A and he prefers to read a book while enjoying a dessert and an icy cold beverage.
Celaphios: He tends to swallow his food quickly and will only savor and chew slowly if he particularly enjoys the flavor.
Torquil: He has a habit of licking the lids of containers that hold specific foods, such as cream cheese, ice cream, and yogurt.
Guilherme: He avoids sharing utensils and eating crustaceans, believing they bring horrible luck, and doesn't want to inflict that on himself or others.
Ferdinand: He avoids eating snacks after lunch because he doesn’t want to spoil his appetite for dinner.
What is the main gross habit of the Iron Eclipse cast?

Hey! So I'm looking to get into turf war since it seems so much fun, but I am completely in the dark on what weapon I should even use ᔦ^^" ᔨ I am a complete beginner, and I was wondering if you had any recommendations?
My left hand isn't able to hold onto stuff for long, so it'd definitely have to be mostly one handed.
Thanks in advance for the tips! ᔦ^^ᔨ
Short Answer: Shooters, mainly the Splattershot Jr. line or the N-ZAP line, maybe Tri-Slosher but it would be hard to manage. Check the TWA for possible accommodations and check the Splatsville Ammo Knights to see if Sheldon could recommend you more.
Long (Like very long) answer: Oh easily any form of shooter from the Splattershot Jr. to the well known Gal series it's a great choice for someone just starting out. They are usually light and quite portable.
If it's the very first weapon you're gonna use I suggest you to go either with the Splattershot Jr. or the Custom Splattershot Jr. for they have a really high ink efficiency (aka. It can ink a lot without running out as fast) and a decent rate of fire although it does have a personal pet peeve of mine which is that is isn't really that accurate.
The SS Jr. line has a really wide range when it shoots, inking better but the accuracy is abysmal so if you want to go and splat someone you need to get really close to them.
In terms of kits I personally favour the Custom version since it carries torpedo as a sub which is really useful to try and find anyone hiding around the arena. In terms of specials I'm rather impartial, Big Bubbler can come in clutch when you're trying to push forwards or when you need to fill your inktank in a hurry while wavebreaker is more useful to find a lot of enemies in an specific spot (personal favourite to use in tri-color).
Now if you want one that's easy to carry with one single hand I suggest you to try the N-ZAP line, they're one of the thinnest weapons around and they do have a good firing power, also their kits are nice. The 85' comes with suction bomb and Tacticooler: Suction bombs by themselves are nice since you only need to stick them in a specific location while Tacticooler is in general beneficial for any team. The 89' holds Autobomb and Super Chum: similar to Torpedo Autobombs excel in tracking people down while Super Chum can come in handy to ink a wide area in a short amount of time.
I'd honestly say that most other weapons are a no-go since they either are really big and need both hands to work properly (Chargers, Blasters, Splatlings, Dualies, Stringers, Brellas), you need both hands to get them to move around the arena at all (Rollers, Brushes).
The only other weapon I can see having a chance are sloshers, mostly the Tri-Slosher since it isn't really that heavy to carry in one arm, although the accuracy will be greatly diminished.
Now I am not fully informed on this topic but I think the TWA should have specific accommodations for people that for any reason can't use both hands/arms so I'd check their page or any of their stands.
If you also would like to see more weapon options I'd suggest you to go to the Ammo Knights in Splatsville since Sheldon is currently located there and could probably give you a more through insight on what weapons could work for you and which can't.
Wishing you the best of luck on your turfing endeavors.

Bloodstone Manor Location Masterpost
Okay, since the next bit of Monster Mash is gonna have to happen at/near Bloodstone Manor and Ted needs to go for a walk in the woods nearby, where do we think it is? The US and UK are the leading candidates in the fandom, but I need to pick a spot so my characters can get the fuck out of Ohio. My money is on the US, but I'm open to counterpoints.
Things to bear in mind:
1. Ulysses had a British accent. Elsa's accent is posh British. Verussa had an American accent, with some Broadway Mid-Atlantic that could suggest fancy New England OR just putting on airs. It's entirely possible one of the couple moved to be with the other, but that doesn’t settle which side of the ocean it happened on. Elsa's accent could be from a UK childhood OR a UK boarding school OR a choice to emulate her mother and annoy Verussa.
2. The house is old--or at least full of old stuff--but there's something of a history of Europeans bringing their weird-ass shit across the Atlantic and building absolutely batshit mansions in the US. Probably because there's more open space for it here.
3. The establishing shot of the rotunda shows it in hilly or mountainous terrain, with what looks like pine forest around it, and it sits on a parcel that is either big enough or far enough from neighbors that no one expects any outside response to roars, screams, explosions, etc. Either there's no one around to hear it or people REALLY mind their own business.
4. Of the hunters who make it to the funeral, one has a Scottish accent, two have American or Canadian accents, and one has what sounds like a South Korean accent (although apparently the actor was born in Argentina and moved to the US in the 90s, and I'm going off the many Korean-American voices I've heard at work, so "Korean-American" might be a better descriptor). Those are the people with connections to Ulysses and the time, resources, and motivation to show up to wherever this is. That suggests the location is most accessible to these people and not others. (Yes, I know, I've left out Jack's accent, but he was going to travel to wherever Ted was anyway; he had enough motivation that distance alone wasn't going to stop him.) North America has the numbers here; it's more likely that one Scot got on an international flight than that two North Americans did.
5. The guards are wearing "tacticool" BDUs and carrying some kind of zappy sticks or stun batons. The lack of guns is interesting and may indicate a location with stricter gun laws than the US ... or just that Verussa didn't want to accidentally kill her captive and that a lot of monsters are bulletproof anyway. The guards look and move a hell of a lot like an American tactical team and sound vaguely American when they're screaming. Would Verussa import guards, or hire local muscle? My money is on the latter.
6. Ulysses was old as balls. In the comics, he was positively ancient, and the opening narration implies he was old enough to be wearing pre-20th-century clothes in a flashback. He's definitely old enough to have gotten his hands on a nice piece of property in the UK, but also rich enough to have just bought a mountain in the US. He was also around for the last century-plus of history, and that may have affected his choice of headquarters. If the original Bloodstone Manor got bombed out during World War 2, for example, he might have moved to a less bomb-filled location.
7. Corpse Muppet! Verussa found somebody willing to turn her husband's remains into a Cryptkeeper animatronic. I have no idea whether that's a thing in the UK, but there are definitely enough weirdo taxidermists, puppeteers, and general pieces of work here that someone would take Verussa's money to do it. There are even subcultures here that traditionally sit the corpse up at the table for the wake, so it might not even be that weird to the right professional.
8. Flaming Tuba Guy is available for the funeral. Real Flaming Tuba Guy is American and takes his flaming tuba to Burning Man. I have no idea whether the UK is also a likely place to find a dude with a flaming tuba, but I have difficulty imagining a smooth process for getting a combination brass instrument/flamethrower through customs. I don't think there's a lot of international Flaming Tuba action unless private jets get involved. Wherever Flaming Tuba is from, I'm betting that's the jurisdiction where Bloodstone Manor is.
9. Jack makes it to Bloodstone Manor. Now, I've talked before about his being highly motivated and distance not being an obstacle for him, but if we assume he didn't use a magic portal or something (big if, I know), he had to go by land, sea, or air, and that takes time, no matter how motivated he is. Jack is centuries old, has a history of involvement with violence, and speaks with a Mexican accent. Wherever the Manor is, a dude matching that description was able to get there in time without setting off a ton of international alerts. The fact that Jack is as old as he is AND unknown to the hunters despite being a werewolf suggests that he prefers to keep a low profile, and by now he's practiced at it. He wouldn't want to leave a paper trail, especially when he's on a rescue mission that he knows will likely involve killing people. (I know he doesn't WANT to kill anybody, but the odds of him and Ted getting out of there with a zero body count were always slim. And he brought a bomb in his pocket.) Between his money and his accent, Jack would have an easier time moving around undetected in North America; he could reach a North American Manor by car rather than having to smuggle himself on a boat, charter a private plane (with a flight plan!), or go through customs at Heathrow or wherever. Not that he wouldn't risk getting on SHIELD's radar to save Ted, but if the hunt happened soon after Ted's capture, Jack would be more likely to physically reach the Manor in time if it were in North America.
10. Ted! Ted is at the funeral, obviously. In the comics, Ted canonically lives in the Everglades and honestly that's the best place for him. Verussa would have to have Ted transported from Florida to wherever the Manor is. All the logistical problems of moving Jack across an ocean are magnified in moving TED across an ocean. Again, it's much easier to move him within North America, which I'd consider a point in favor of a North American Manor. If the Manor were in the UK, wouldn't Verussa have gone for a victim based closer to home?
11. Sushi. "Let's do sushi; I owe you that." Apparently Jack and Ted have a history with sushi. I have absolutely no idea how common sushi restaurants are in the UK, but on the west coast of North America, you can pretty much throw a stick and hit one. (I know this because I moved last fall, and one of my first priorities in the new place was Find The Good Local Restaurants. Google was like OH, YOU WANT SUSHI?! HERE ARE TWENTY PLACES. Seriously, it's almost as common as pizza, at least in California.) I assume the boys aren't heading into a major urban center for food after their escape, so wherever Bloodstone Manor is, Jack thinks he can find a rural, exurban, or suburban sushi restaurant within a couple hours' travel (close enough that he can go, pick up their order, and make it back to Ted before raw fish goes funky). Sushi restaurants, at least in the western US, tend to be run by East Asian immigrants--part of the larger culture of immigrants starting restaurants within the first or second generation of arriving here. For stupid racist reasons, most East Asian immigration to the US took place after 1965, so there are a lot of sushi restaurants here that were established in or after the 1980s. Sushi restaurants also tend to be more common in coastal regions here, presumably because REALLY fresh ocean fish get more expensive and harder to acquire farther inland. Jack proposing sushi, if he and Ted are sitting on a log in the US, suggests they're somewhere near a coast, in a region with a sizable post-1965 East Asian immigrant population. (BTW, the reason I keep saying "East Asian" instead of "Japanese" is because a LOT of these restaurants in my area are run by Korean families, more rarely Chinese or Vietnamese ones. I've been in exactly one sushi restaurant here that was run by a Japanese family, and it was 40 years old.) Of course, I don't know shit about the takeout culture of the UK; maybe Yorkshire is full of sushi restaurants or something.
Conclusions.
Between the geography, the accents, the material culture, and the logistics, I think the balance of probability suggests that Bloodstone Manor is in North America, most likely the United States. There are multiple hilly or mountainous regions with pine forests near coasts, close enough to centers of East Asian immigration that the boys can reliably get their sushi.
So with all that in mind ...

I’m generally against the tacticooling of classic firearms (and conversely opposed to the antique-ifying of modern firearms) but the 1 (one) and only exception is the things people do to the M14
I don’t know why

Honestly I don’t get outfits super often in Arknights, not because I have anything against them or think they don’t look good. Generally I think the outfit designs are pretty great
But the base level of techwear tacticool in their designs is very much my shit and most of the outfits tend to move away from that, so I don’t use them much
Meanwhile I’ve never once taken Jessica out of her Iron Block fit because I love it

Gw should stop trying to mix "tacticool" with "batshit insane" for imperial tech, they should just stick to "batshit insane" (aka, not stuff those rocketlaunchers for primaris (and a lot of primaris stuff tbh) everything should be in one of the following categories: gun but big, knights and titans, SoBs: "what if we took this vehicle and made it a fucking church", guards: ww1/2 style stuff but stupid and/or make some parts very big and finaly: whatever the femboys (thy are just like me fr fr) admech is doing (except their flying vehicles, I hate them (the flying infantry is perfect tho))
Also the marines should have helmets that look like they are angrily screaming again
I agree with this generally! It is funny to me how universally people agree that the AdMech flying vehicles are too much. Just a resounding “what the fuck are those, James?” all round. Really I think they should be given some sort of retro-looking flying saucer with a tractor beam. I think the general theft and kidnapping they could engage in with it would be very enriching for them, and would make for a fun tabletop model.
I, too, miss the screaming helmets. I don’t mind the sort of sleeker thing they’ve got going on at the moment, but they lack the energy of the D:< helmets.
It would be cool if we could get more krak/melta grenades that were modelled after stick grenades, imo, because stick grenades are objectively the most fun and impractical grenade.

BEGINS GOING FERAL
AS SOMEONE WHO HYPERFIXATED ON SPLATOON AND RISE AT THE SAME TIME I MUST KNOW FOR DATA COLLECTION REASONS!!!
WHAT DOES EVERYONE MAIN????
if raph mains dynamo or hydra i would not be shocked
OOO YESSS I'LL GLADLY ANSWER THIS!!!
I main the brushes! Just in general, really. They're fast and can cover a lot of ground super quick if you're good at breakin ankles hehe- But rn I really like the new one, the Painbrush!
Tello has like 4 stars on literally every weapon in the game somehow HDKJFJD but his mains right now are the E-liter 4K and Aerospray RG! (He's a menace and if he's on the opposing team, you are losing.)
Lee is probably obvious, he plays with the Splatanas the most. Especially the Wiper cuz he likes the Stamp. He's also really good with the Dualies! The one he uses the most is the Splat Dualies :)
And you actually got Raphie right on the mark! He mains Dynamo Roller! And also Tri-Slosher Nouveau bc she's insane (and just really likes the Tacticooler).

there's is one thing i hate more than Wendig**n himself and that's his ''S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'' fan film ''Shadow of the Zone''. Shot in what is clearly an modern still functioning facility, ''mercenaries'' running around with their (clearly new and freshly washed) tacticool gear, the ''free stalker'' character decked up in american gear and camo wielding an expensive fuckin gun and the most basic knowledge of the Zone (despite being a guide? i assume that's what he is but there's no real characterization to him so), when any lore is mentioned is either just wrong or misinterpreted, and the correct bits of it are just read off the wiki (im not gonna bitch about them calling shit ''paranormal'' cause i dont actually expect anything from this dumbass). Other than thta it's just badly written, had the most basic story you could possibly think of, the characters and their motivations are dudebro macho bullshit. It could take place in any generic ''post apo'' but they needed to cash in on the hype surrounding the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 (they released their slop on october 30th i think)

i just remembered back when there was a fandom fad for making new designs/costumes for the characters in BNHA/MHA and while I still respect the intention behind a lot of it (less revealing outfits and so forth) one thing that bugged me a lot about it then and still annoys me now is that it was done with a very tacticool mindset, everything had kneepads and stuff all over and it didn't feel even slightly appropriate for BNHA's general Silver Age costume aesthetics
while that look MIGHT work for outfits the heroes created themselves on the sort of budget a teenager is likely to have, that's not where they come from. Those costumes are made by the school's technicians, following designs and requests from the students themselves. These are not outfits made on a budget, these are Silver Age outfits created on purpose by the most respected superhero school in a country that has being a superhero as the Coolest Thing Ever, the outfits it makes shouldn't look like someone's handmade project
(Okay, maybe Deku's does, but his mom quite literally made it for him and he's the only one that this counts for.)

My Frames - Part 2
A bit of a Sequel Post to the original, which is something I whipped up upon my initial return to the game, after having played quite a bit more. The post before that on my blog was in 2016. Anyway, some things might be repeated but otherwise I am generally quite a bit more experienced than I even was two years ago.
This will be a heavily elongated post due to pictures.
As before, I'm going down my "Most Played" listing. After that we'll get into some subcategories.
Tumblr media
Saryn continues to be my #1, locking down first spot at 26.4% most used frame on my profile. And she will continue to remain there or rise in general. While I've discovered new frames that are fun and useful in harder content, her spores still tend to lock down high damage percentages with my team and my Gloom tends to keep me alive. In certain specific hard-on-purpose content, sometimes an enemy's damage will 1shot me. The new Jade Eximus are rather famous for nuking me down if there's so much going on and I don't notice the big green beam, but that's only happened once.
I tend to take someone else if I need high mobility, Saryn having either the or among the lowest sprint speed in the game, even with parkour I feel her bullet jump is a few feet short of others. So certain missions like Spy, Capture, Rescue... I leave that for faster frames.
Tumblr media
Wisp has my second place locked down at an admirable 9.9%. I won't mention %'s after this point because it drops off. Generally she's my go-to for solo content but that has shifted towards other frames that I've built into survival. With some updates adding shield-gating as an actual mod (Catalyzing Shields didn't exist on Part 1), and I've discovered a new respect for Rolling Guard which basically emulates "iframes", giving me invincibility for 1.3 seconds or something like that. Wisp has fallen off as a go-to secondary main in recent months but I simply make a sort of in-the-moment decision whether or not I want to survive or support. She still gets some attention, all the same.
Tumblr media
Ember, my original main. Roughly around my first-job days when I wasn't really bothering to invest a lot of money. Ember was one of my first primes ever and was pretty much all I had until I eventually scraped through enough grinding to get Saryn's nonprime. As such she hasn't seen much attention in my gameplay since 2016 or so, once my stock of equipment started to grow properly. I actually recently put a forma into her (yeah I didn't forma her at all in the old days, due to aiming for prime weapons in relics rather than forma blueprints) and got her through a couple matches in Hydron. Honestly, her kit doesn't really speak to me. I think her 3 is now some kind of defensive but she no longer has a full-send firestorm, instead she just has some kind of pulse aoe of fire that goes away pretty quickly. I'm sure if I looked up some builds I could make her a real contender but I'm enjoying other frames too much.
Tumblr media
Mesa hasn't seen much use from me lately despite being one of my coolest looking frames. Even a couple years ago I largely considered her my "fuck around with lowbies" frame. She has one survival ability that deflects bullets so my logic was, I could carry some friends by just hanging out, deflect bullets, and maybe pop her aimbot rapidfire if things got too hairy. And she has served that exact purpose in the past, and has since been dethroned by other "early game carry" types. Nyx, for example, has claimed the spot of "tacticool" gunner, and I'll elaborate more on her when we get there.
Tumblr media
Titania's function remains the same as it was years ago. Titania is my “let me not waste my teammates time” frame. I bring her notably on Sorties, specifically stuff like Spy and Capture because there’s always some speedster Gauss or Volt just speedrunning the whole map because nobody wants to waste their time burning down bullet sponge enemies. What I didn't mention in Part 1 is that she's also the primary cheese for the various Mastery Tests with very rare exceptions. Ultimately she is a permanent fixture in my roster as my preferred speedster.
Tumblr media
I actually haven't used Mirage in a while. Her explosive trap ability is fun and hilarious, but at the same time it's also quite boring. I rekitted her out of that and modded her more into using her copies. I think there's a mod that increases their damage. So, in theory, she's not as boring to play as she once was but with a roster as large as mine there's other frames I go to when I want to have fun. In some ways, Koumei has sorta replaced Mirage as a niche survivalist.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Koumei. A new addition since the original post. I'm enjoying her more every time I play her. Normally I don't enjoy hefty amounts of micro (like Mirage having the ability whose effects go between light and dark spaces), but Koumei's random Duviri-Decree mechanics are still fun to play with. Stuff like making kills while sliding or wall latching, helps break up some of the monotony of how I traverse a map or engage in fights. Like any roguelite, some of the decrees are useless to my playstyle, but other times I get something like reload on reroll or more crit damage. Her 3 is some kind of hefty damage reduction and with other survival mods, Koumei has become an unexpected heavy hitter in survival maps and is often my go-to for longform Relic runs. I don't enjoy her as much on quicker maps, single-wave missions or even lower level stuff because I don't get the time to invest in her challenges. While not immortal like Nyx can be, she's become a very interesting survival Frame.
Tumblr media
Nyx was... surprising. I've owned Nyx Prime for fucking ever but she was largely mastery fodder and I just let her exist in my roster. Then 1999 came out and with it this interesting proto-frame skin. I resisted buying it and then... didn't resist. To justify that heftier 275p asking price, I looked up a build and got to work forma'ing her a few times. Indeed, her 4 makes her completely invulnerable (at the cost of parkour, you can't even jump you have to dodge-roll to do anything evasive) and if you mod her up right with certain energy addons, your energy drains very SLOWLY, making it last an incredible amount of time. And she's not a heavy spender either, you get a minion that lasts a minute and a half and you pop a couple other abilities situationally but mostly you can be an immortal goddess for a while. Until a specific type of Eximus shows up and says "no." I mentioned earlier in Mesa's section... Nyx is not only a high level player for me but she's now my "fuck around with newbies" frame. I can mind control a minion (or not even bother), go immortal and just bring fun tacti-cool guns like the Vesper 77 (shown above), the Ambassador or AX-52 (it's literally an AK-47) and basically just kinda play Call of Duty while whatever newbie on my team figures out how to play the game and manage their powers. Sorry, Mesa, for the dust you now collect.
Tumblr media
I had my fun with Dagath but with my growing roster I find myself preferring other frames to just mess around and have fun with. Her HONSE spam is fun and great to watch whole rooms of red get wiped out but it doesn't serve very well in higher levels. She has mid-tier survivability but maybe her build is just outdated now. Either way, other frames like Koumei and Nyx are just more interesting than she is, now.
Tumblr media
Nova is built as a Speedva but sometimes I don't even bother as I've found other more efficient methods of leveling up my gear to where making those Grineer run faster is no longer a necessity. Still, she has some niche uses in some content in high level farms so if I ever join some pre-arranged groups that require a speedva, I have one available. I just prefer many other frames over her.
Tumblr media
Octavia is one of the old primes I worked very hard to grind for. I don't know the dates in which I acquired them but Octavia is pretty old in my roster, which is why it's such a shame that she doesn't scale better. It is with great sadness I have recently discovered that she's mostly designed for support; to give your teammates some on-demand invisibility or speed (if they dance to the tune properly). I still have recently brought her to Hydron for leveling gear cos it's fun to spit out the Skyrim theme or some other techno dance tune but otherwise she doesn't get much use beyond that. It's a shame, I do like her kit. I just wish it was more offense over support.
Tumblr media
With Hildryn we're starting to get into the "I find other frames more fun that do a similar job" category. Hildryn has some great utility alongside my brother's main as a Nidus, whom often laments a shortage of energy. She's somewhat fun to use but when I personally need to stay alive I just bring the likes of Wisp, Nyx, Koumei, and even a little bit of Dagath and indeed, Saryn's Helminth'd Gloom does the job just fine in higher level content. I also pretty much never see a Hildryn in public games, now that I think of it. I don't think her kit needs a rework necessarily but the little blaster gun she comes with is virtually useless and maybe her other stuff needs a little buff to bring her on-par with other frames. That's the end of the pictures because the rest aren't played enough for me to bother fluffing this post up. Brief mentions, going down the list. And just assume they're primed unless they don't have one out. Mag, a decent kit even reworked but it's too CC-heavy and other frames (Koumei's 4) do the job better.
Protea Prime will eventually be higher up in my roster as I do find her kit fun and was my original "tacticool" type frame but there isn't enough cosmetics to give her that look. Mesa and Nyx fulfill that job better, but Protea is fun to play and I hope to build her up some day. Ivara is too specific and three out of four of her abilities are near-pointless. Garuda used to be my go-to melee frame and still somewhat is. She gets an honorable mention for being a sort of turning point frame, being one of the first that really clicked for me. I understand what her kit does and I'm able to utilize it effectively, but other frames have become more interesting as a go-to. Voruna has too much micro for me to deal with. Multiple passives and a lot of ability juggling that involves either tapping or holding, and I can't really keep it all straight in the heat of battle. Maybe a fun frame to bring on low level, newbie-carrying content. Citrine, Gara, Zephyr, Xaku have kits I do not yet understand. Revenant, Inaros, Nekros, Valkyr, Chroma, Khora, Gyre, Loki, Caliban, Equinox, Harrow, Rhino, Excalibur/Umbra, Atlas, Hydroid, Cyte-09, Sevagoth, Wukong, Volt, and Grendel are all mastery fodder and just kind of exist. I want to work on getting normal Grendel for subsuming. Dante is currently cooking in my forge right now and he'll mostly be mastery fodder.

I want this so bad
Tumblr media
The tacticool swordspear the generic Yumen Guards carry is possibly one of the coolest weapons I've ever seen. I love them so much and want one so badly.
