I finished chapter 2 of Deltarune.
I won't put screenshots here because my phone really gave up on me.
Alright, first things first. I felt that this chapter was a lot shorter than the first one. I finished Chapter 1 like a couple of days ago but I spent a week doing all of Chapter 1, this chapter I finished in two days, which doesn't take how much fun I had with this.
Chapter 2 is so different from the first, not only in storytelling (obviously) but also in gameplay. In this chapter, a Mercy bar was added and I kneel before Toby Fox for doing that, it was really helpful with certain enemies, especially the bosses.
Speaking of which, Queen is so funny, man. Before I sat down to play Deltarune, I saw a lot of fanart of her on Twitter and, my god, people were thirsting for her. I see why now. Her boss fight is really fun and I didn't have "Fight in a Megazord in the middle of the city" on my Deltarune Bingo.
Now, the first big elephant in the room... Spamton. I didn't fight him because I misunderstood when he said "come alone", so I thought "okay, at some point I'm going to be alone and I'm going to backtrack to the Trash Zone". And I just forgot to do it. Anyways I'm going to play again (yay!) and fight him.
Now the second elephant in the room... Berdly. Toby Fox must've heard him saying that I absolutely hated his stupid ☝️🤓 ass face and said "oh yeah?" and then BOOM character development, BOOM funny scenes. Now he's my second favorite character. Third, actually.
Noelle and Susie, man... I'm going to quote Sein from Frieren: "Just start dating already!"
Yeah, I think that sums up what I think about that.
Now, for the last point, we need to talk about Kris. There's something realllly shading about them, like real sketchy type shit. At the end of the first chapter when they rip their soul off and put in the birdcage, it was kinda shocking because I already knew what was coming.
But nothing could've prepared me for the end of this chapter. Dude, the vibe was just off. Toriel said "go to the bathroom and wash your hands", and then I went there and started clicking in everything because obviously but all of it was just "No need for that now" or something like that. And he just rips their soul again! And goes out the goddamn window.
While Susie and Toriel have a really cute dialogue, the camera stays still in the bathroom and then Kris crawls back and just puts their soul again, and steps out without even caring.
And then, the end. Toriel calls the police because "someone" slashed the tires of her car. She sits down and sleeps. In the middle of the night, Kris wakes up, rips their soul again, goes out the door, comes back, pulls the knife and... CREATES A GODDAMN FOUNTAIN. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LIVING ROOM.
And the chapter just ends. With a creep smile on the TV. AND A HUGE CLIFFHANGER.
Anyway, I will play Chapter 3. I hope.

by encouragement by lovely mutuals here is my take on kris from deltarune <3 i made this last year probably in the summer? can't remember
anyway if you zoomed up on their 8-bit pixel design and they were in high-definition, this is what you'd see
details under the cut:
❤️ nonbinary flag on their scarf ❤️heart shaped pin on their scarf too but it's hard to seee ❤️ was going to include a pin for asriel's college, but i couldn't make the tiny pin thing look right ❤️ colored the triangles on the deltarune symbol for kris, ralsei, susie, and added a yellow heart for noelle bc it felt right. looking back on this i wish i'd made the angel part yellow ❤️ black nail polish ❤️ dark world kris has more piercings bc they want them but don't have them in the light world ❤️ adjusted the pink of the scarf to be more purple which you can barely tell which i like. i wanted the colours to all lean cooler since kris is mostly blue ❤️ spent forever on the chestplate only to cover it up ❤️ spread out the pink more ❤️ pretty sword!!!! ❤️added some sketchy stars on the leggings to match the sketchy stars ralsei put in their room in chapter 2 ❤️ i like to think kris's eyes are brown in the light world and red in the dark world, they're just purple here because they're behind the hair..!! ❤️ locket to match asriel (i hope) ❤️ my sibling said they looked too fem but i disagree
ahnjakslfd i'm so nervous to post this send help i feel so exposed

Why hellos! Would you share... Ummm..... Ten headcanons of your choice, please?
Or theories, if you'd prefer that!
sounds good! let's do ten minor Kris things that go into my take on them
1. their musical taste right now as a sixteen year old trends Tumblr Quirky, and a combo of Tumblr and Toriel's old CDs lead to a particularly strong interest in they might be giants. their username anywhere they can get it is bluecanary, after the lead of birdhouse in your soul. (confusing people who know Berdly is a funny side benefit.) as they get older and get exposed to more things their interest in weird and atypical things will take them down a lot of genre rabbit holes and they'll get into some weird ambient noise projects and things like you'll just find them sitting there blissing out to a single long drone and if you ask they explain it's a recording of a guy sitting in a room
2. they cut their own hair! they're uncomfortable with people being too close and touchy near their face for too long so after talking it out w toriel they're allowed to do their own haircuts. obviously they don't do them often. they have some mild sensory sensitivity re: light that they're subconsciously using the bangs to compensate for (they have not yet realized that other people don't hate going outside at 2pm bc the sidewalks are too bright)
3. they stash snacks around for later and then forget about them. this means once in a while while looking for something else they discover a bag of gummi bears taped under the bed or some shit and they're always like Score
4. most of their wardrobe is hand me downs from Asriel, and they feel uncomfortable asking for new clothes when Toriel and Asgore are both kinda Making It Work monetarily. they have one really nice long skirt that they save wearing for special occasions
5. they don't actually like the taste of moss that much. originally it was meant to be a one time Bit that they did to fuck w ralsei and the player but now they've realized they can make it a Running Bit and Susie is playing along so fuck it they're seeing where it goes
6. they rarely if ever swear because one time they swore and word made it back to toriel and they convinced themself that she's capable of detecting swearing from several miles away
7. as a prank they got a bunch of cheap kids toy ice-es figurines and hid them around Noelle's house in the weirdest fucking spots. these horrible misprinted things are still lurking in some corners and cupboards and once in a while kris just feels a deep sense of satisfaction settle over them and Knows
8. they don't like glitches and such in games, at least not the way Noelle does. they tend to really project onto the leads and want to help them get The Best Possible Route with everything being done the way the protag would want it, and doing weird sketchy route breaking stuff makes them uncomfortable in ways they can't name. (yes it does turn out they also hate it when they're the protag)
9. their main stims are bouncing up onto their toes a lot when excited and brushing their hands rapidly over fabric when they need to calm themself down. they'll also play out piano notes on their thighs and stuff when sitting down, and they doodle endlessly in class. none of this happens when the soul is present.
10. they really love their friends and want the best for them and want everyone to be happy and they're just a good weird kid who deserves better

A particular art style that I want to draw inspo from and be able to make art similar to is Toby fox’s art style not only because I already draw in a sketchy way but just because of how fun it looks

I really really love how he draws Susie and even tho he doesn’t have a lot of full body art either it still looks really good. Full body art is something that looks so daunting because I know mines gonna look like Garbo but I realize I can take a page out of Toby’s book and make everybody blocky as hell or wearing robes lol.

sorry but just wanted to riff on f1 driver jamie lannister and feel too shy to butt in on the og post... but i had to add... brienne as his new teammate...
ANON ily i have been thinking and writing rambling drafts of a reply to this message for an hour now! please always feel free to butt in, i know elle wouldn't mind either!
okay so oh my god, yes i know i mentioned loras as the charles parallel (YOUNGER AND MORE BEAUTIFUL) but i kept thinking about it afterwards and realised brienne of course has to be part of his narrative too! maybe the first female formula 1 driver signed to a team full time?? idk but she'd be legendary in this universe as well of course
so here's what i've got so far:
tywin as the son of a driver in the lower formulas who never made it f1. maybe he only won f2 after 5 years there like it seems vershoor will do this year, and everyone in the racing world mocked him for it. tywin did make it f1 but never won a championship. he wants to Establish A Racing Dynasty
tywin definitely would straight up buy a team just so his son can race and also poach all the best engineers to build him the fastest car. luckily for him, jaime also happens to be incredibly talented so his plan works out and they probably dominate for 10 years straight, very likely with extremely shady fia interference and sketchy safety cars. it's tywin. which means jaime is the undisputed most successful driver ever but also pretty universally disliked by the "honourable" racing fans
in asoiaf loras is the new hotshot knight who joins the kingsguard and replaces jaime as the Best Knight Ever, he's the one jaime resents for taking his place as he's grown older/lost his hand. so I think i'd want to keep that and still make loras the start of his f1 downfall, the one to join Jaime's own team and unexpectedly beat him his first year there. (sebchal you will Always be famous)
I would want jaime's injury to fit in here somewhere, but im not fussy on the details tbh. it could have happened in the winter break before loras joins, and you could make it the reason for his decline, or it can happen during/after that year and be the reason he's pushed out of the team. or maybe he crashes while pushing the car, trying to prove something, hurts his hand and has to sit out some races. many possibilities!
and after loras, enter brienne!! the partner/rival duality of the f1 teammate relationship fits so well with braime's vibe at the start, where they're forced to work together even as they initially despise each other, so here they have a shared goal (in theory. idt jaime really cares about wccs*) but also desperately want to beat each other
*but brienne does!! she cares about the team fiercely, and ofc MAKES HIM CARE too
I cannot see tywin signing a woman to drive his car, but i can see him either pushing out his own son who has "disgraced" himself / jaime leaving in shame to another team which would be peak angst I can get behind
oh man. jaime to Ferrari in his washed ex-wdc era. that would be so fucking funny. sold.
I think, I would want brienne to start in f1a actually, because asoiaf brienne is so involved in other women's storylines and I don't want her to be The One Good Woman in this au either. catelyn would play the susie wolff role as f1a director, trying to get her a spot on the grid because brienne is just so absurdly talented. maybe she'd be in the fda too, which is how she meets jaime, but not immediately his teammate, just someone he sees around as she moves up to f3/f2, and eventually he sees her race and cannot deny her talent. after a couple of years, HE insists she deserves the seat beside him and ferrari goes, what the hell. sure (oathkeeper!!)
so actually BRIENNE LA PREDESTINATA VINCE!!! this thing has layers
jaime had been kinda coasting in his washed era but the push-pull with brienne reignites his passion for racing and he finally gets to understand the Power of The Red Dream idk I think i've had him in purgatory for 5 years at this point. poor guy
he retires the year after Brienne gets her first wdc
Brienne wins 6 wdcs in a row MINIMUM. undisputed legend of the sport AND she gets her street named after her in Maranello <3
aaand that's all i have, random ideas free to a good home, folks
#i said it in the first reply but it's truly incredible how much of jaime's archetype and character arc#lines up with actual real things that have happened in f1#he's truly a character of all time and also just the jockest jock to ever live. love the guy#and maybe that medieval tournament equivalent isn't that far off#it makes me want to go dig out my asoiaf books and pick out more details to fit in#f1#barely??#asoiaf

Free space!
Use this space to tell us about your favourite characters, fandoms, or ships!
I'll gladly take this free space, please and thank you 👍
Favoirite Fandoms: Danganronpa (also fangans like DRA/DRA2, Shattered Hope, Despair Time, Eden's Garden, Coward's Paradise, Lapse) Master Detective Archive: Rain Code, Sonic the Hedgehog, Undertale/Deltarune, Zero Escape and Your Turn to Die.
•Basically any horror, (murder) mystery, death/killing game, adventure, multi-ending or/and choice based you can think of! I started off with Undertale, Fnaf and Ddlc, fell into Ace Attorney, got abducted by Danganronpa and then dragged off to the place of no return from there. I was literally afraid of most of these games at first, but they got me stepping out of my comfort zone and discover what kinda media Iike. Now I'm stuck here. It's great tho XD
Favourite characters: Shadow the hedgehog, Sans (Undertale), Susie/Kris (Deltarune), Sou Hiyori (yttd), Ashley/Andrew (Tcoaal), Yuma (rain code), Nagito/Hajime, Sayori (ddlc), Vi (arcane), Yuki/ Sora/Teryua/Shobai/Iroha, Basil (Omori), Stan Pines (gravity falls), Santa/June (zero escape)
•Favourite characters for me range usually range from morally grey/complicated to downright irreemably evil to entertaining to sweet innocent cinnamon roll that has done nothing wrong. Most times it's the morally grey characters that are good people but do bad things not because they want to, but because they have to. Or when they've been beaten down and traumatised before and puts on an act and bares their worst to never be hurt or have to relive it all again. Or when they do bad things for good reasons and vis virsa! Or all of the above. An antagonist that could've been the protagonist in a different setting. Someone relatable yet troubled whose actions you can recognise as bad but then wonder what you would've done if you were in their shoes. When they die they get me the most, I won't lie. Other morally grey characters for me are the ones who are shady, sketchy, sleazy. Those who act all friendly and smile easily but you can tell that there's something sinister and off behind the facade, but you can't place your finger on what. They do shady things behind your back or in plain sight and you don't even realise until you look back on it. If not them, then there's no predicting on who it would be. They have to suffer a lot tho. If they're not doomed by the narrative how am I supposed to cry over them and regret ever getting attached and then cling to every fanart/fanfiction of them I can find (characters I mentioned I'm looking at you--)?
Favourite ships: Komahina/Sondam (dr2), Keisou/Soushin/Naoreko (yttd), Teru(kinjo)rei/Yukisora/Shobai x Sora/Iroha x Shobai (dra/dra2), Junepei/Seven x Lotus (zero escape), knuxrouge (sonic), sunflower (omori), Gravecest (tcoaal), Dipcifica (gravity falls), Vi x Caitlyn (arcane), Jesse x Jane (breaking bad), Diane x Bojack/Bojack x Sara lynn (Bojack horseman)
•No consistency to find here. At all. I love, love dark, unhealthy dynamics between characters that draw me into their orbit but then there's also the healing, tender relationships that make my heart melt. The ones where love didn't fix or change anything, but was still there. Then foils and enemies to lovers, that constant push and pull and mutual rivalry bordering on hate while there exists that romantic undertone underneath it all, waiting to see who'll be first to act on it. The developing ones, the 'not quite there yets'. And last but not least the 'will they won't they' where you wish they never will. As you can see, my taste in ships is all over the place but these are definitely my favourite ship formats!
Anyway, I love Danganronpa another and the Kisaragi Foundation trio so your blog is an absolute treasure to me ^-^ Thanks for the ask and the opportunity to ramble!
#momento talks#leviadraws#no i will not tag all the franchises here#sorry for any typos#these were mostly off the top of my head so hopefully I didn't miss an obvious fav

correct me if i’m wrong, but isn’t the festival happening in chapter 4? i believe this was confirmed somewhere, but at the very least berdly seems to be going to the festival Right Now (with kris, congrats krerdly fans) in one of the chapter 4 dialogue translation sneak peaks.
as for how that would prevent us from going back to the castle town save point, perhaps either (1) it will take up a bigger area than we thought which people wouldn’t want to backtrack through or (2) we will be stopped from leaving the festival for some reason. maybe it would be one of those ideas above happening, or maybe it’s more festival related — a disaster or just that our friends (mostly susie) don’t want to leave. or school is closed (although susie would totally break in).
now, the lore implications of having a light world save point are sketchy, since clearly it “isn’t canon” or at least wasn’t planned from the start. i wonder if there will be any explanation. i’m also pretty interested in both how the save point will look (normal or the yellow undertale version, like how the unused saving ui and most menus in the light world are the same as undertale’s?) and what the messages we receive when saving will be. is the power of the festival shining within us just that cool? and we’re not even accounting for how he explicitly mentioned this and mentioned his hesitance, which is significant because it basically confirms the suspicions we’ve had that this stuff only counts (or should only count) in the dark.
in any case, a very interesting and exciting development!

Idk if you take drawing request or not but-
Is it ok if you draw Sammy's parents? Or what you think they look like?
I'm very curious on how you'd draw them
(I apologise for how sketchy this is, I’m veeerry tired! I’ll try come back to this and draw something nicer tomorrow!)
Sammy’s parents were the type to not have kids until they were pretty old, in which case made Sammy’s birth a goddamn miracle. The two were probably very religious, and very stuck in their ways (although, ‘their ways’ were pretty normal back then). They certainly did not follow the whole ‘love thy neighbour’ type deal, despite claiming to be devout Christians. Mr and Mrs Lawrence moved to America from England when Sammy was a kid. And while Sammy wasn’t aware he was a trans man at the time, he still kept anything about his identity or sexuality a secret, because he knew that they definitely would not approve of the ‘lovehate’ relationship he had with a particular brunette angel he went to school with. He’s made a life for himself without them, and that’s the way he likes it. He can’t help but wonder sometimes what they’d say if they saw him now. Probably something awful, but it’s better to think about than what they’d say about his friend group. God knows what kind of terrible things they’d say about Jack, Susie, and Norman. He dreads the thought.

BATDR PLOT POINTS I CAN'T WRAP MY HEAD AROUND:
Okay, hear me out.
Point A: Time Gap
The Time gap between the downfall of the studio and Wilson taking control over the loop.
We know from various news articles and BATIM that Joey Drew Studios went bankrupt in 1948, after having serious financial troubles.
Since 1947 Joey didn't respond to any news outlet and it seemed like he just vanished.
The Gent Headquarter in BATDR gets condemned on October 31th 1952.
Audrey enters the ink world in the 1970s.
So who had the control over the ink world/loop for almost 30 years before Wilson took the wheel?
Point B: Real world/ink world
Even though the studio went bankrupt and was in dire need for funds, Joey expands the studio with a tour and a relaxing area AND WHAT NOT.
It just makes no sense. UNLESS (and now it gets a bit tricky) both worlds are connected. Imagine this: you go to work, take door 1 (or elevator 1) and beyond it it's all cartoony. But hey you work in a cartoon studio and your boss is a bit eccentric, no need to worry.
After a hard day of work you get out into the real world back home to your family before everything starts anew the next day.
Until the studio gets so crowded with people that the only elevator just can't cut it. So you can either wait, take another route (there isn't one) or just stay in the studio in one of this cozy, relaxing capsule beds, which are provided by your boss, so you don't have to leave. How practical.
Also you don't get paid anymore, you get those nifty little coins to pay for all the stuff IN THE STUDIO without any real world value.
Your life progresses in the ink studio without knowing that you're literally cut off from the real world, meat gets rare. So some people vanish.
My point is: Joey (or who's really responsible) build all the new stuff in the ink world, to test it (the Tour, Bendyland) because it's just cheaper. AND at some point the workers weren't allowed to leave anymore.
Why?
A: Because Gent did some sketchy stuff?
B: Because Joey could built a world where Bendy was still popular even though the Studio has been closed? His OWN Bendy World. His dream didn't have to die because of real world problems or funds, he could make MORE.
Point C: Joey tells Audrey that the loop is just a fanfiction to torture a copy of his formally best friend. No souls needed. Just a story.
So why does Wilson need a sacrifice, a soul, for his creation shipahoy Dudley IF a slightly tweak on the story would have suffice? He has the control over the ink world, he could just change it, put a new character in like Joey did with Allison Angel. Could he?
When everything is just fiction, why does Gent need people from the streets to do sketchy tests on them (kill them)?
Why does BATIM and the books state that Buddy, Sammy and Susie (to name the ones I'm 100 sure) felt victim to the ink?
Joey, you have some explaining to do.

deltarune theory time
im not a big theory person but ive been thinking a lot about how Noelle’s role as the Angel might play out in the plot, and what her relation to the prophecy might be, and I think I may have found some interesting connections, so pop down below the cut if youre into that sort of thing
We all pretty much know by now that Noelle is associated very heavily with ‘The Angel’, a figure from Ralsei’s Prophecy in chapter 1.
She mentions growing angel wings which is pretty on the nose:
She’s shown in this very evocative crucifixion pose, which also highlights how angelic her Dark World clothes are in general:
And there’s a lot more of these that have been noted elsewhere (including the ‘snow angel’ pun which is so Very toby fox)
But anyway, that’s old news, it’s been pretty common knowledge for a while. But like... what the hell does this mean? Why is she being associated with the angel SO MUCH, and how does that relate to the “ANGEL’S HEAVEN” from the Prophecy?
Here’s the lines from the Prophecy about the Angel:
So, the job of the Three Heroes of Legend is to seal the fountains and banish the ANGEL’S HEAVEN. These could be two separate, distinct objectives, I guess, but the implication is that sealing the fountains is what will banish the Angel’s Heaven, and that the Angel wants lots of fountains.
This is VERY INTERESTING when taking into account that Noelle is the first person to bring up creating more fountains after the Queen fight:
She seems to view the Dark World as a fun, utopic dreamland. A Heaven, perhaps. We get another nod to this when Ralsei tells of the Roaring:
‘Is that your idea of paradise?’ The use of the word ‘paradise’ is very interesting here, as that word’s archaic meaning is literally just synonymous with Heaven. The Dark World is Noelle’s Paradise; the Dark World is The Angel’s Heaven.
The Angel is clearly set up in the prophecy as an antagonist to the Heroes of Legend, but it’s strange to think of Noelle taking up an antagonistic role. There’s always Snowgrave, which -- i mean, yeah, that’s almost certainly leading to an epic Noelle boss fight after she inevitably snaps and turns on Kris/the Player. But I think it’s possible that the normal routes could also lead to Noelle put in this critical position; if Rudy’s health continues to deteriorate, Noelle, faced with both the trauma of already having lost December and the prospect of being alone with her mother (who’s obviously not winning any Mom of the Year awards anytime soon), might take desperate measures in order to gain access to her healing magic. She’s already expressed that she wished she had it in real life, after all. And look at this:
After Ralsei explains the Roaring, Berdly, Susie, and Queen are shocked -- and Noelle seems completely unfazed, standing there with her default sprite. She doesn’t express regret for proposing the idea in the first place, either.
This is obviously getting into some pretty sketchy speculation; there’s so much going on in this game, and with five chapters to go we’re all working off of breadcrumbs, but I definitely think we might be seeing Noelle stick more closely to this notion of wanting to stay in the Dark World as time goes on, even more than Susie seems to be.
But thats just a theory. A GAAAAAAME THE-- *gets shot*

what about... 20? :D
Thanks for doing the ask game! 20 is breaking the rules. I haven’t written in a while, so sorry if it’s not the best, but here it is. Also the formatting might be messed up since I’m on mobile.
Summary: Susie and Noelle wanted to have a cool night where they could watch a bunch of episodes of their favorite show, but the streaming service they have access to through noelles parents doesn’t have it on there, so Susie suggests Piracy.
“You mean like a date? Really?” Noelle wanted to make sure she was interpreting what Susie had said right.
Susie turned to the side and put a hand behind her head, her hair hiding her eyes even more. “Well, only if you want it to be…” Noelle was touched. Noelle couldn’t believe a cool girl like Susie wanted to go out with her! She was barely keeping herself from jumping around. “So what do you… what do you wanna do?” Susie was looking her in the eyes now.
“Um… maybe we could watch a movie, or a show or something?” Noelle suggested.
“Oh, I know! You could show me that cartoon you were talking about! If you uh… if you want to, anyway.”
Oh geez, Noelle hadn’t thought that Susie would actually be interested when she brought it up. She’d still follow through and watch it with her, but she was a bit embarrassed about her own taste. “Um, sure. What time?”
“Can we do 11? Like in the morning?” Susie asked.
“I’m pretty sure that works for me. So… see you then I guess?”
“Uh, sure. I’ll see you later.”
Noelle and Susie had parted ways from in front of the school, and Noelle was in her room, gushing. She was just so happy that she finally had a real official date with the girl she liked! Of course Noelle was still in fear of it going horribly horribly wrong, but she was able to put that fear aside for the most part. As well as how she always felt guilty thinking about Susie, and even guiltier now that something was actually happening. Ah, she should probably start preparing for the date to make sure it goes well.
She booted up the computer and made sure she remembered her family’s Sora login correctly. She successfully got into the streaming service, and looked in her watch list for Caught in Rola. Huh, it didn’t show up. Sora does glitch a lot... She decided to put the site’s search function into use, and Noelle put the name of the series in, and still no results showed.
Noelle’s heart was pretty crushed. Her date with Susie was probably ruined, and she hadn’t even finished the last season of the show. Ugh, she couldn’t believe that they would just take it down with no warning. She fell into bed and put on the white noise she liked to sleep to, and turned off her lamp. She still couldn’t stop thinking about the situation she was in. What was she going to say to Susie? Would she think it was Noelle’s fault? Maybe the blame did fall on Noelle. After all, it was her who told Susie that she would definitely be able to do it.
- -
The doorbell rang. It was 11:17, and Noelle was still anxious. Maybe she just shouldn’t open the door. Maybe then she can forget about this and it will somehow be fixed… the doorbell rapidly rang a few more times, and Noelle walked to the door to unlock and open it.
“Hi, Noelle, I almost thought you weren’t gonna get the door, haha. Sorry for being late. I like, forgot for a second that 10:57 was right before 11, so when I checked the clock then, I wasn’t prepared at all to leave, but hopefully it’s okay?” Susie was a bit embarrassed, and it showed on her face.
“It’s totally okay! Um, Susie? Do you think you would be okay if we uh, did something else other than watching the show…?” Noelle asked, avoiding eye contact with her date.
“Wha? I’m not mad or something, but why?”
“Well I checked and… Sora doesn’t have Caught in Rola on it any more. Sorry to let you down.”
“Oh, well. that’s not good. Uh I do think I know… something else we can do. Can I use your computer for a moment?”
Noelle was unsure what Susie was thinking of. “Alright, sure, as long as it’s within reason. And you can come inside now! Sorry for making you wait outside for so long.”
The two headed inside the roomy house, and made their way into Noelle’s room. Noelle had temporarily taken down the most embarrassing posters she had, but a few were still up. Noelle sat on her bed next to Susie, set the laptop between them and logged into her account to direct Susie onto the browser.
“Okay uhh, do you have an adblocker?” Susie asked Noelle, looking up from the monitor.
“No? Probably not I think, what’s that for?”
“No? Uh, okay. It like, removes annoying ads and popups from websites while you’re on them.” Susie tried explaining. “I’ll just get one for you if you want. It’s free to have.”
Noelle just gave a simple “Okay,” and Susie continued her work on the device.
“Okay so, I know a website that we can probably watch it on, so I’m gonna pull that up now.” She put in a weird sounding url and hit enter. A bunch of ads and spam showed up for a split second, but were quickly done away with thanks to what Susie had gotten for Noelle. “Here it is! It seems sketchy but it’s completely alright to do and doesn’t make you a bad person on its own.” Susie proclaimed.
“Wow, you’re sure that this is okay? It’s pretty cool!” Noelle was pretty excited to see the show, she would even be able to finish it on her own if she couldn’t with Susie.
“Well, yeah, as long as you didn’t invite any cops, haha ha…” the room went a bit cold.
“This- Are you saying that this is a crime!?” Noelle nearly shouted. Was she dating a criminal? Was her mom actually right about Susie being a delinquent bad influence?
“Hey, hey, I said it was moral, not legal.” Susie tried to reassure.
“Wh-what if we get caught? Undyne’s really scary, and-and people might think it’s my your fault O-or-“
“Hey, Noelle.” Susie said pretty calmly. “We’re not hurting anyone. We’re just a couple of teens who wanna watch a cartoon. And, you’re mom’s paying for that other service anyway, so the creators of the show already got stuff for what they made. It’s basically already been completely paid for, if that uh, makes sense.”
Noelle was actually almost crying, but she thought that Susie was probably right. She tended to draw her own moral line at things that the people around her would approve of, but, well, now that she thought about it, there was probably more that they wouldn’t approve of or understand, like the dark world, or how Kris can time travel, apparently.
“Wow, that’s uh… a lot.” Susie was staring at Noelle.
“Did uh.. I… I didn’t mean to say that out loud.”
“Hey, it’s okay! Let’s… let’s go watch our illegal cartoons now.”
“Okay!” The two girls pulled up the show, and watched the show until into the night.

Frisk(and Susie) answer the awesome TheAmazingAvaGrace on Devianart who let Frisk know, "Frisk, did you know that Spamton has had a history of abuse and neglect that spanned for two decades? He was in a very dark place all those years ago. Dark enough to jump into a tunnel of acid. Fortunately, he survived. But unfortunately, he's very lonely. That little man could use a friend, or at the very least, someone to talk to and actually listen to him."

I'm not sure if that's exactly what happened to HDAD Spamton to(as we haven't gotten the information fully in canon yet,) but Frisk didn't know that as she only ever met him in that dark alleyway. She was sympathetic and tried very hard to listen to him, but he hurt her during that fight and scared her. ((Also, he stole 2 dark dollars from her, but she didn't notice and would have let him just have them if she knew anyway.)) When he asked her to meet him alone at the shop alone, Frisk was too wary to do so, especially since she at that time had Noelle and Tina with her and didn't want to put them, or Susie and Ralsei, at risk as Spamton was unstable and had already attacked her, showing that he had become a danger to himself and others, so she decided to talk to Susie and Ralsei about what happened and see if he could be helped in Castletown by getting him a home. She didn't know how to help him any other way as she's fifteen and knows she's not trained to deal with mental breakdowns. She ended up talking to Susie and Ralsei about it, and both discouraged her from going to the shop, though Ralsei said they'd sort everything out in Castletown. Then everything went crazy, with Noelle being recaptured and Lancer turned to stone, and their focus became solely on sealing the fountain and saving Noelle and Lancer.
She does want to make sure he's helped though and feels guilty for not doing something sooner. Susie walked in and heard this conversation and let Frisk know if she goes to meet Spamton, she's not going alone. Susie feels Spamton's sketchy and doesn't trust him with Frisk, so she'll be there when Frisk does go meet him. Ralsei will be there too, once he knows what's going on.
Feel free to ask any character you like a question, either the main ask page or the comments section of any Ask HDAD-DR comic! Any canon character from Deltarune that's on the Textbox generator is available except Kris as Frisk takes Kris's role in this AU and Chara is the one who lives with the Dreemurrs. Chara, Frisk's little sister Tina and Gaster are now available as well and I can see what I can do for Asriel.
If you're interested in reading Hopes, Dreams, and DELTARUNE, here's the series link!
Summary: In one universe, a neglected girl looking for a flower so she could make money to take care of her sister fell into a world full of monsters, and managed to free them all. But in another timeline, one just a little to the left, the war never began. Chara and Asriel ended up living happily with the Dreemurrs, and went off to university to fulfill their dreams.
But Frisk is still there, in her home with neglectful, drug using parents and a six year old little sister, Tina, who she loves more than anything and wants to take care of, never having met the Dreemurrs.
But her fate still lies with the monsters, and a transfer to a new school leads her to come into contact with an entirely different cast of characters, and for her and fellow outcast Susie, a new world is calling. A Dark World.

[ 🐺 ] does your muse have trouble relying on others? why or why not? [ 👶 ] is your muse good with kids, or do they prefer to avoid them? [ 🍔 ] what is your muse’s favourite food? is there a reason why they like it so much? ~ Face and Maggie ~
[ 🐺 ]
Face counts the people he can truly rely on with his fingers and still has digits left over. Hannibal, BA Murdock, Amy, and Father O’Malley are on that list. Father Magill was as well before the man passed away. He was still a little sketchy on Tawnie when she left and Frankie he is still deciding on. That being said, he always admits to an outside possibility that one of the people he cares for most might still betray him and he tries to accept that. Being abandoned as a young child taught Face a very important lesson: The only person he can consistently rely on is himself. Everyone else is suspect—even those near and dearest to his heart could always walk away if they decide he’s not useful any longer or getting to be too much of a problem.
[ 👶 ]
Everyone assumes that Face is pretty bad with kids and he would prefer avoiding them but the reality is that he is actually great with kids. Aging out of the orphanage meant he ended up spending time helping the Sisters by baby sitting the younger kids, helping with homework, and making sure no one killed each other while playing. Though he keeps it a secret, Face still regularly stops by the orphanage to visit with the staff and spend time with the kids. He takes particular interest in the kids who are aging out—using his contacts to help them get lives established outside of the orphanage.
[ 🍔 ] Despite being a man of reputed fine tastes and standards, Face’s favorite food is the decidedly humble peanut butter and jelly sandwich. When Sister Gwennie found him sleeping under a pew in the orphanage’s chapel, that was the first meal they gave him while the staff tried to sort out where he came from and who he belonged too. From there, it became the staple of school lunches, fit perfectly into backpacks when he was sneaking out, and even could be made in Vietnam as both peanut butter and jelly were included in the military rations. It is constant, reliable and an easy go-to when he does not have any energy or inclination to make something else.
[ 🐺 ] Maggie finds it fairly easy to rely on other people. Being a doctor and a combat medic, she got used to working in a team arrangement. If she could not rely on the rest of her staff, or if she constantly doubted and second-guessed them then someone was going to die. A person still has to prove they’re competent before she’ll let them too far off the leash but once a person proves themselves, she trusts them to do their job right. If they can’t pull that off…well…that is a conversation for a different time.
[ 👶 ] Maggie is very good with kids. She has two of her own—a son Charlie and a daughter Susie. Charlie also has a son of his own so Maggie is a fairly newly-minted grandma. In Bad Rock, she’s the primary doctor so she knows all the local kids and gives medical services at the sports events for the local schools. She’s got a soft spot for teenagers—especially teenage girls who find themselves in tight spots. Maggie always has resources on hand, up to and including a place to crash if someone gets thrown out of their house for some reason.
[ 🍔 ] Maggie does not have a favorite ‘food’ exactly but she has a soft spot for diner cooking. Meals there aren’t really healthy, they come with a decent amount of grease and any type of vegetable is a bit on the wiltly side…but they also come with ample amounts of strong, black coffee and usually a chance for homemade pie. Maggie’s been in Bad Rock long enough that going to the local diner is not just for getting meals—it’s a full social event that can take several hours while everyone stops to talk, she gets approached at least twice about sponsoring the Little League team, and Hank usually drops by her table to share a cup of coffee with her before heading back to his kids. The food may not be what the Doctor ordered sometimes but the companionship and social interaction is.

"LITTLE WOMEN" (2017) Review

"LITTLE WOMEN" (2017) Review There have been a good number of adaptations of Louisa May Alcott's 1868-69 novel, "Little Women". Although it was not the first adaptation ever made, the first one I had ever seen was the two-part 1978 miniseries that aired on NBC. But the most recent adaptation I have seen also aired on television. It was Heidi Thomas' three-part miniseries that aired on the BBC in 2017.
For some reason "LITTLE WOMEN" - or at least this adaptation - has failed to win any acclaim in compare to the 1994 and 2019 movies. At least with the American press. The British press, on the other hand, seemed very impressed by Heidi Thomas' adaptation. Frankly, this situation seems like a case of national pride - a British television producer adapting a famous American novel. As for the American press - what can I say? Was this version of "LITTLE WOMEN" really that mediocre? Or was this a case of American journalists resenting the very British Heidi Thomas adapting Alcott's novel? I certainly had some quibbles regarding "LITTLE WOMEN". In an effort to be more politically correct, the miniseries featured two minor African-American characters - a badly wounded Union soldier and a wig maker in Concord, Massachusetts. I had no problems with the wig maker's presence. But I definitely had a problem with the presence of the wounded black soldier being nursed by Mr. March, the four protagonists' father, during the miniseries' first half hour. "LITTLE WOMEN" began right before Christmas 1861. The Union Army did not begin recruiting black soldiers until the mid-July 1862. The 2017 miniseries also featured another historical blooper. Sometime during the second episode, one of the characters mentioned the Battle of Ball's Bluff being recently fought. This is impossible, considering the battle was actually fought at least two months before the story began. I had a few other quibbles regarding "LITTLE WOMEN". As much as I had enjoyed his performances as the March family's neighbor, Mr. March, I must admit that I found Michael Gambon's American accent rather sketchy. Thomas made a mistake that many other adaptations made - she allowed one actress, namely Kathryn Newton, to portray the youngest March sibling, Amy. Newton is an excellent actress, but there were times when she seemed a bit too old to be portraying a pre-teen and later early teens Amy. The 1949 MGM movie allowed Amy, as portrayed by the 16-17 year-old Elizabeth Taylor, to be older than Beth. The production barely got away with this. But only the 1994 movie had cast two actresses to portray Amy - Kirsten Dunst (who was roughly 11 to 12 years old when that movie was shot) and later, Samantha Mathis. One last problem - or should I say quibble - bothered me about "LITTLE WOMEN". Hairstyles. Especially the hairstyles worn by one Josephine "Jo" March. I understand that Jo is considered the "tomboy" of the March family. And I could understand the casual or loose style in which she wore her hair during the first half of the story . . . and inside the family home. But there were times when she wore her hair in a similar manner when she was outside. And "tomboy" or not, I just cannot see Jo being so relaxed with her hair - at least not in public and not during the 1860s. Sometimes, I feel that this effort to portray Jo as a "free spirit" went a little too far. The American press had more problems with "LITTLE WOMEN". The main theme behind their dissatisfaction seemed to be criticisms of the production's "faithful" adaptation of Alcott's novel. In other words, the miniseries is a stridently conservative adaptation. It lacked - at least according to Sonia Sariya of "Vanity Fair" magazine - progress. Critics accused the miniseries of following Alcott's novel by allowing all of the sisters to adhere to the social dictates of mid-century United States. As I write this, I am trying to so hard not to punch my fist through my computer screen or scream in frustration. "LITTLE WOMEN" is an adaptation of a novel that was published in 1868, not 1968 or 2018. Or perhaps they were pissed that Jo ended up married to Professor Bhaer, which did not happen in Alcott's original ending (before it was changed). I keep forgetting that many of today's feminists believe that the only way a woman can achieve her dream or be "fulfilled" is by avoiding matrimony altogether. I also find it odd that none of these critics have demanded the same fate for the protagonists featured in any of the Jane Austen adaptations, including the recent movie, "EMMA". So, why dump this nonsense on this particular production? Because it was a British adaptation . . . of an American novel? I came away with the feeling that the overreaching theme for "LITTLE WOMEN" seemed to be personal self-satisfaction for its four major protagonists. This adaptation featured the first time Elizabeth "Beth" March, third and most reserved sister, being portrayed as someone who suffered from social anxiety disorder, instead of mere shyness. I had once come across an article on the Internet that claimed the recent 2019 movie adaptation had finally done justice to the youngest March sister and not portray her as a villain. I could only shake my head in confusion. I have never regarded Amy as a villain. Certainly not in this or any of the other adaptation of "Little Women". Yes, Amy could be vain, coddled and a bit spiteful. But she had to struggle to overcome some of her negative traits and at the same time, develop into a strong-minded woman who knew what she wanted in life - to become an artist and live a life beyond genteel poverty. The same could be said for the oldest March sister, Margaret "Meg". She starts out as a young woman, who is already regarded as ideal in the story. Some have criticized Meg for her desire for domestic bliss. Superficially, I believe there is nothing wrong with this. After all, it is a woman's right to choose what she wants in life. However, like Amy, Meg also harbored a desire to be both socially acceptable and wealthy. I never had a problem with Amy attaining this position, because I have always suspected she was emotionally suited to such a lifestyle. I believe Meg was a different story. I believe Meg had to learn to attain her desire for domestic bliss in a way that suited her, instead of Amy. And she had to realize that kowtowing to her great-Aunt March's demands for all of the March sisters to marry the "right men" (namely wealthy) and take their places within the upper-classes was not the way. At least for her. Meg's encounter with Laurie's British upper-class friends, the Vaughns, may have finally allowed her to question her previous desire to be socially acceptable. While viewing this miniseries, it had occurred to me that Josephine "Jo" March might the most complicated of the four sisters. Many admire Jo for her artistic ambitions to be a writer and her independent spirit. But I thought Heidi Thomas did an excellent job in conveying how Jo can sometimes be her own worst enemy. Despite her ambition to be a novelist, she was willing to waste her literary talents to create cheap melodramas to help support the family. Initially, I saw nothing wrong with this. However, Jo seemed doomed to continue wasting her talent with writing cheap melodramas. She probably would have continued this path if her parents and Professor Bhaer had not encouraged to take a chance and embrace her true artistic potential. Another aspect of this production that really impressed me was how Heidi Thomas made Jo's rejection of Laurie's marriage proposal more plausible. Clearer. This was especially apparent in scenes that featured Jo's quiet rejections of Laurie's romantic overtures, her final rejection of his marriage proposal and her conversation with her mother on why Laurie could never be the right husband for her. But it is obvious that Jo's biggest problem was her fear of losing her family - not only to death, but also to love and marriage. This explained her hostile attitude toward Meg's romance with John Brooke. Jo seemed to be afraid of growing up. And she seemed to dread that growing up would eventually mean losing her sisters. "LITTLE WOMEN" features some differences from Alcott's novel. Did these changes hurt the miniseries' narrative? Well, I some issues with Thomas' erroneous mentions of historical events of the Civil War. On the hand, I thought her portrayal of Beth suffering from social anxiety disorder was something of a masterstroke. The miniseries did not feature a great deal of Alcott's religious additions to the story . . . something I did not miss. There were other aspects from Alcott's story that was also missing - the family newspaper, the Pickwick Club, and the sisters' amateur dramatics. But honestly? I did not miss them. Earlier, I had criticized some of the hairstyles worn by actress Maya Hawke, during her portrayal of Jo March. However, I certainly cannot criticize Eimer Ni Mhaoldomhnaigh's costume designs. I do not regard them as among the best 1860s costumes I have seen on television or in the movies. But I thought they were pretty solid, as shown in the image below:

Knowing that this adaptation of Alcott's novel was a British production, I thought Susie Cullen's production designs did a first-rate job in converting the Ireland locations into mid-19th century Massachusetts, New York City and Great Britain. Considering the miniseries was shot in Ireland, perhaps Ms. Cullen's job proved to be easier than I had originally assumed. I certainly enjoyed Piers McGrail's photography for the miniseries. I found it beautiful, thanks to the colorful and sharp images. One of the best aspects of "LITTLE WOMEN" - at least for me - proved to be its cast. The 2017 miniseries featured solid performances from supporting players that include Julian Morris as John Brooke, Meg March's future husband; Helen Methven as the March family's housekeeper Hannah; Adrian Scarborough as Amy’s teacher, Mr. Davis; Kathleen Warner Yeates as Aunt Carroll; Richard Pepple as a local Concord wigmaker; along with Felix Mackenzie-Barrow and Mei Bignall as the visiting Vaughn siblings. But there were supporting performances that impressed me. Dylan Baker gave the most memorable portrayal of Mr. March, the sisters' father, I have seen on-screen. It helped that his character was never in danger of being pushed to the background, unlike other adaptations I have seen. Mark Stanley gave a very charming and intelligent performance as Professor Bhaer, the German scholar whom Jo befriended while working as a governess in New York City. Stanley made it very easy for me to see how Jo would find Professor Bhaer so attractive. I really enjoyed Angela Landsbury's portrayal of Mr. March's aunt, Aunt March. The actress did such a marvelous job in conveying the character's forthright and controlling nature. Michael Gambon's portrayal of the Marches' neighbor, the elderly Mr. Laurence. Gambon did an excellent job of developing the character from a reserved and forbidding man grieving over a recently deceased child to a wise and compassionate friend and grandparent. If I had to choose my favorite on-screen Mrs. March aka "Marmee" I have seen, the honor would go to Emily Watson. I really enjoyed how Watson portrayed Marmee as this wise, yet pragmatic woman struggling to keep her family together. Another excellent performance came from Jonah Hauer-King, the story's "boy-next-door" who became a close friend of the March sisters. I cannot deny that Hauer-King gave one of the most complex performances in the miniseries. He did an excellent job in conveying the positive aspects of Laurie's personality - including his charm and loyalty to the March famiy; and the character's more negative aspects - namely his impatience, his inability to understand Jo's intellectual pursuits and his own quick temper. Naturally, I had to turn my attention to the four actresses who portrayed the March sisters. Thanks to Thomas, actress Annes Elwy was given the opportunity to portray the reserved Beth March from the prospective of one suffering from social anxiety disorder. And Elway did an excellent job of conveying Beth's emotional disorder and the struggles she endured to overcome it. Earlier, I had complained that Kathryn Newton was too old to portray Amy March during the first two years of the war. And I stand by this complaint. But I cannot deny that I ended up enjoying Newton's performance of the ambiguous Amy anyway. And I am thankful she did not make the mistake of exaggerating her performance to portray a character seven to eight years younger - something that many actors and actresses tend to do. Someone had once complained that Willa Fitzgerald's portrayal of the oldest March sister, seemed "too mature". And I do not understand this complaint. Meg was not only the oldest sibling, but possessed a personality that led her to occasionally behave like a "quasi parent" to her younger sisters. And Fitzgerald did a first-rate job in portraying his aspect of Meg's personality and her role within the March family hierarchy. As for Maya Hawke - questionable hairstyle aside - I truly enjoyed her performance as the story's main protagonist, the artistic and tomboyish Josephine "Jo" March. She did a superb job in capturing the many complex textures of Jo's personality. More importantly, Hawke also did an excellent job of developing Jo from this gawky and outgoing personality to someone forced to grow into adulthood - even if a little reluctantly. It is a pity that Hawke's performance was never acknowledge with an acting nomination of any kind. In fact, it is a pity that very few have been able to truly appreciate this adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel. The three-part miniseries seemed to be overshadowed by two recent adaptations - Gillian Armstrong's 1994 film and Greta Gerwig's 2019 production. I am not putting these two films down. But as far as I am concerned, Heidi Thomas' miniseries strikes me as worthy as those two films. In fact, I feel it is just as worthy as other adaptations of the novel - including the 1933 film and the adaptation released in 1949. I honestly did not believe I would enjoy this adaptation as much I did. And I have to give kudos to Heidi Thomas for creating a superb adaptation. She was aptly supported by excellent direction from Vanessa Caswill and a first-rate cast led by Maya Hawke. I look forward to viewing this adaptation in years to come.
