my only criticism of the mark of the assassin dlc so far is that the ghasts should have been in the whole game. I think it would have really lightened the mood in darktown to have these little guys bursting out of the sewer like waaaaahhhh

Tallis
Some people say we're enforcers that keep the Qunari in line, but that's not it. It's hard to explain.
We're… the soul of the Qun. We keep its spirit alive and protect it, from both outside and from within. Not every Qunari agrees. Nor do they always do what is best for all. The Ben-Hassrath remind us of our common goal.

The characters in DA2 are so funny
Fenris will admit believing in the Maker in front of Anders but not Sebastian (tw suicide mention)
Isabela will admit in front of Fenris that she cares about the plight of the mages but not Anders
And Anders would look at an actual qunari and then turn to Fenris like: I trust him more than you
They're so petty it's hilarious, I love them so much

I love Malcolm Hawke's first dialogue in Legacy (the one you get if you unbind the shade kept trapped by two seals in a little cell). clearly this whole business was the darkest shittiest time of his life and he's selling his soul and betraying every single one of his principles and everything, but he sounds so endearingly... snippy and exasperated about the wardens using demons willy nilly. the "listen I know I'm up to some shady stuff here and everything but let it not be said I was untidy. I'm fixing your shit as far as I'm able here. you will not be able to pin this one on me. these demons were here before I arrived, this is on the record now" energy. the way he's taking time out of his day to be responsible and enforce mage OSHA regulations in the middle of maybe the most hilariously irresponsible thing anyone's ever done after the magisters tried to break into the golden city. exquisite. the real Hawke family curse is having to specify that actually not all of the catastrophe was your fault okay this is at least like... 30% not on me this time. I. I tried. everything was on fire and I had a children's toy bucket and a bottle of rum on hand

possibly controversial opinion; i don’t like Tallis all that much. her personality puts me off. or maybe i just don’t like that she’s Felicia Day’s self insert
.. that’s a joke. kind of. but have you LOOKED at Felicia Day? she looks exactly like Tallis.
and I’m not even talking about Redemption right now but i think that’s the biggest offender
bioware you put Felicia Day in your game. you just straight up put her in there

I just want you all to know that if you're making, like, ANY form of fan content around Dragon Age 2, you have made life more enjoyable and I appreciate you for it. It's an older game but I still adore it and folks participating in it's fandom warms my soul.
Please keep going. You are wonderful.

Tallis is such a character. She's a very unsubtle self-insert of her creator and also the first time we get to know a viddathari personally. She has cool unique rogue abilities, and she's a non-optional companion practically designed to annoy players who already have a favorite party and want to have both their love interest and their sibling along for the DLC and still have something resembling a balanced party. She has a tragic backstory and an unfortunately low-budget miniseries. She's Quirky™️. She offers insights into the appeal of the Qun for a person who has had few choices and little power in their life. Her DLC introduces weird lore that is rarely if ever brought up again. She's loyal to the Qun but can't stop fucking it up. She will flirt with Hawke shamelessly. There is a painful catch in her voice when she asks if Hawke meant it when they said they didn't care what she was. She's a spy who's wearing her organization's logo on her shirt. Most criticisms I have seen of her character are valid and indisputable. I love her so much.
