they’re standing there like two middle school best friends who just got caught by the others mom at a sleepover with the door closed. but they weren’t doing anything? i mean, sure they were sitting a little close, but they’re best friends and they were play fighting so what? so what if the room felt warm and stuffy and so what if they can’t meet each others gaze for the rest of the night and who cares if one is growing more and more jealous that the other is starting to date even though they always said boys were stupid and not worth it and they should leave their small town behind and move to new york city where one of them would work a steady job so the other could pursue her creative passions and cook and decorate the apartment with pictures of their new cool friends and their weekend outings to museums and their favorite coffee shops but the basketball player from 6th period is washing all of that away with his stupid slant smile and green eyes but its whatever she can move to new york alone and maybe they should just stop being friends anyway if she’s going to act like this. it’s not like she’d care.

do you mean the post where i express frustration over the ‘moony is the smartest’ trope that’s literally everywhere, anon? the trope that has a tendency to drag other characters (sirius, james, peter…) down in order to lift remus, prostrated as a bookworm because he held a book one (1) time in a flashback, up? like i don’t think remus was stupid at all, just that remus wasn’t The Smartest Marauder (J,S&P’sgrades wouldn’t have been good enough to graduate without remus helping, right??). i think that actually goes against canon a little bit. and so i’ve been wholly turned off by the ‘perfect gorgeous alpha feminist’ remus that’s associated with ‘remus was the smartest’ that yeah, it isn’t this little ooc thing i won’t ever complain about. this time i did (with a remus lupin critical tag!!!).

Just curious.. what is it about Daniel you don’t gel with?

(I’m also not a massive fan of him.. I don’t not like him, he’s just kinda meh to me really hahaha)

it's more a feeling than anything else. like, something about his demeanor just seems off to me. you know when all your friends know and like this one person and then you meet them for the first time and you just don't get it? very that.

since he's so well loved i felt like i had to like him at first, but i quickly realised i usually only don't mind him in combination with other drivers i like, for example max, and even then he's just not for me.

the whole teeheeing about misogynistic jokes on podcasts and being so wildly ignorant about anything outside of his dude-bro-bubble despite being a grown man who can be expected to possess a reasonable level of critical thinking skills - and know how to use them - also doesn't sit right with me. (and while i am very aware he's by far not the only driver guilty of that, it feels especially prominent in him to me personally.)

[i also feel like people tend to overrate him as a driver. that's not to say i think he's a bad driver, not at all, but after 12 years in f1 resulting in 8 race wins, some questionable career choices and worming his way into a junior team at 34 years old, i'm just. not that impressed. however, i also feel like i have a lot left to learn about the sport and the drivers and am thus not the most qualified to talk about these things especially, so please take this last paragraph with a grain of salt.]

most of this is obviously very subjective, i can totally see why so many people love him as much as they do and i don't judge them for it. it'll just never be me lol.

also, you don't have to, of course, but if you feel comfortable sharing, i'm quite curious about your favourite and least favourite drivers, anon!
