How to Crack The Technical Interview: Strategies For Developers In 2024

Getting a technical interview job that you really want is often dependent on how well you perform. There is strong rivalry for the best talent in India’s booming tech sector. This blog gives developers like you the tools you need to crack technical interviews and make an impression on potential employers.
Understanding the Indian Technical Interview Scene (2024)
In India, the world of technical interviews is continuously changing. An overview of what to anticipate is provided here:
Focus on Problem-Solving Skills: Employers are seeking more and more developers with the ability to analyze problems critically, dissect them, and come up with workable solutions. Refresh your knowledge on how to solve problems!
Data Structures & Algorithms: It is still essential to have a strong foundation in these concepts. Prepare to use code challenges to show that you grasp the material. Good practice resources are available on well-known websites like LeetCode and GeeksForGeeks.
Coding Proficiency: Demonstrate your ability to produce clear, effective, and well-documented code by writing code in your favorite language (Python, Java, or C++).
Proficiency in System Design for Mid-Senior Positions: Expect inquiries about system architecture, scalability, and managing big datasets as your career develops.
Developing Your Technical Interviewing Skills:
Now that you know what to anticipate, let’s move on to practical tactics:
There is no replacement for regular practice — practice, practice. For coding challenges and practice interviews, use websites such as Interview Cake and HackerRank.
Review of Algorithms & Data Structures: Examine fundamental data structures such as trees, graphs, linked lists, and arrays. Develop your knowledge of algorithms for dynamic programming, sorting, and searching.
Emphasis on Frequently requested Technical Interview Questions: For your selected programming language, research and prepare answers to commonly requested technical interview questions.
Improve Your Communication Skills: Technical interviews evaluate both your communication style and your coding abilities. Clearly state your reasoning and provide a thorough explanation of your code.
Get ready for questions about behavior: Be prepared to respond to inquiries regarding your prior projects, methods for overcoming problems, and experiences working in a team.
Project Showcase: To highlight your abilities and enthusiasm for learning, think about putting together a portfolio or showcasing a few of your own projects.
Research the Company: It demonstrates initiative and sincere interest in the position to be aware of the work culture, technology, and products of the company.
Mock Interviews: It takes practice to get good! To hone your interviewing techniques and boost your self-assurance, practice interviews with friends, coworkers, or internet resources.
Additional Tips for Indian Developers:
Make Use of Online Resources: The developer community in India is thriving. For information exchange and interview preparation advice, make use of local meetups, online forums, and groups like Interview Cake India.
Focus on Soft Skills: Although technical proficiency is necessary, don’t undervalue the significance of soft skills like communication, teamwork, and time management.
Get Ready for Aptitude Tests: To evaluate applicants’ analytical and logical thinking abilities, certain organizations may administer aptitude tests. To do well on these tests, practice with online tools.
Conclusion:
A strategic approach, preparation, and dedication are necessary to crack the technical interview. You’ll be well-prepared to wow prospective employers and land your ideal developer job if you follow to these tactics and keep up with the most recent developments in the Indian IT industry!

interesting soundbites you might've missed from the op81 & howie games podcast in melb
(did this while procrastinating at work... we are so back i guess.)
youtube
disclaimers: (i) i'm paraphrasing here so can't vouch for 100% accuracy, but as much as possible have tried to capture the meaning (ii) the word association game and the carcar soundbite have already made the rounds, but, i feel like, there was a lot more in this interview.
let's go!
on the topic of personal chefs and nutrition etc: host mark howard asks if the menu changes or there's anything special that oscar requests that reminds him of home -- apparently race week thursdays for a while were "chicken parm thursdays" and they might bring this back
oscar's lunch on press day was barramundi and "the big grained couscous with no spices" (oscar... the 1/16th is crying out for help)
one of the reasons he renewed with mclaren is because he felt the infrastructure and people needed to get to the championship in the new set of regs was there, so he was confident
on the reported $22mn bonus last year: oscar denies that it was this high (lol ok sir)
on longevity of career and responsibility: oscar talks about the estimated career in f1 usually being up to 35, maybe into your 40s but "it isn't like a typical career where you've got until your 60s" so financial investing and doing something with your salary to prolong the usability of it is important (wow 20something multimillionaire thinks of his pension. mature)
on the early RC cars: "i drove one around the school [cricket] oval a few times and that got me in trouble" pLeaSe !!!
recounting his first race at oakleigh (he was about... 9? 10?): "i went to a friend's birthday at the bmx track and did the last jump of the day before we went for the race. and i skidded down the down ramp on my face, so i actually missed it" HE REALLY WAS JUST SOME KID
so his real first race was a state race (with a P/provisional drivers' plate) HAHAHAH. he fought his way about half way up the pack in this one
"my first win... i won a club race at oakleigh and it felt like a world championship at the time. and then i quickly realised no one cared" <- once again devastated by his deadpan humour
on aus footie: "i was good in the under 9s cus i was pretty big as a kid up till that point and then everyone else grew and i didn't, then quickly realised i wouldn't become a footballer no matter how much i wanted it. i was playing footie a lot before i started racing and [the demands of racing then] really took up a whole season"
he also fielded in cricket at state level (?) a couple of times here and there. [i don't understand cricket terminology fully so i might be wrong here]
he was starstruck when meeting jackie stewart and alain prost because it was "pretty special, pretty cool. to meet legends of the sport like that."
he downplays the question about whether it was hard to move to boarding school, because he wanted to become a professional racing driver so badly and was always really motivated by this.
but does say formula renault was hard because of everything he felt he had to balance that year, and when things were not going well it feels very pressurised especially when you have only a year to prove yourself
on sponsorship and racing: "i'm fortunate to have a family that are pretty well off and it didn't become apparent until i entered f2 [that it was a big financial strain]. it costs about three million AUD a year [to fund a year in that series]"
credits both his parents for the sacrifices they made to support his racing career and shouts out his mum for making sure his sisters had the same opportunities to pursue their dreams as well
about the alpine purgatory years: "that was a tough thing because not everyone knows the full story and we weren't able to tell it. it was not an easy thing to go through but once i cemented my future and signed with mclaren, it was a relief to know i was going to be on the grid for at least a little bit"
to put the current margins on the cars into perspective: "the amount of difference between me and the car in front is the time it takes to blink".
and on car development being so advanced now: "there being something like a second between first car and last on the grid in qualifying is pretty unprecedented"
does he watch drive to survive seasons? "to be honest not really. i just skim through and see my parts to see if they've painted me as a supervillain. [this year's] is pretty balanced i would say. the mclaren episode is a pretty fair reflection of two competitive guys wanting to win races and it being a difficult situation for the team. it's entertaining but that one is for the most part pretty accurate. i found it quite entertaining."
during the drivers' word association part: "i don't have much for Stroll" FLKJKFJSDKLJSDK he really went *mariah carey voice* i don't know her
race weeks are scheduled down the minute, and on off weeks it's usually training every day at least once or twice a day; they get maybe 2-3 days at home. last year he reckons he spent 100 days at home in monaco last year, and was on at least 48-60 flights for work depending if you count the ones going to and from the MTC
howie told him to share his airline points (ha) and oscar said "qantas is the one airline i don't have platinum status at the moment [though] i used to when i lived in aus"
oscar does not own a boat in monaco (YET)
finds life in monaco a little bit of an adjustment due to the smaller spaces, but he's been in apartments even since boarding school so it's not a big deal to him. "i'm going to sound like a complete wanker if i complain about living in monaco"
on communication style on the radio, it's kind of about personal preference and he doesn't cast judgment on that – "some people need to be fired up, some people need to be calm and for me it's staying calm. in baku you can see from the onboard and my helmet i got pretty excited but i don't always open the radio for that"
howie closes with any advice for kids. oscar says: "enjoy it. for me, even – we've spoken about how difficult it is being in f1 and how cutthroat – [it's] always taking a conscious moment to reflect that you're doing a thing you love. doing it because you love it is the first thing. that's an important one for me even though there's so much more pressure now than when i started my first race at oakleigh. the second part is always be trying to learn, and improving. it's often easy when you have success early on, you think you're at that [certain] level now. but on my journey i've learned what's good 12 months ago isn't going to be good enough in 12 months time. that's in the car too. if we raced last year's car this year we'd probably be last. continuing to learn and improve is a part i enjoy as well."
#oscar piastri#op81#lore drop#he's such a hardworking nerd <3#from a technical perspective btw this interview was outstanding#everything down to the structure of the questions to the editing to how they kept to time and asked everythihng#and the authenticity of acknowledging soph / PR off camera and making everyone laugh#and using melbourne both as setting and framing to tell a story about oscar as a sportsperson#*chef's kiss*#as another side note ojp always seems to give the best interviews in a podcast format where he's comfortable#and so far it's looking like it's either going to be with mark howard or the fast & the curious pods so. ones to keep an eye on as oscarina

'vampires are bad at art', factoid just statistical error. most vampires are quite decent at their crafts. Marius De Romanus who paints like all his works were made by AI is an outlier and should not have been counted
#listen. I think Anne had SOME idea when she said it with that disconnected from humanity quality BUT#Lestat was clearly still good at acting and it's art so I think she was cherry picking and saying whatever#therefore this is my opinion#ALSO#they clearly have the emotional capacity to create#they just don't put in the work and that's not a vampire thing it's a 'too impatient or not interested that much actually' thing#except Marius who's technically masterful but has no imagination#also show vampires are able to make art. Sam wrote a Sam Beckett play. Santiago could act. Lestat could act and can sing.#Armand had questionable taste but clearly not talentless either.#Louis would have been good at photography if he didn't try to imitate someone else and got his hand at modern digital camera#so yeah#but show vampires aren't inhuman. they're ultra-human. too human. more impulsive more emotional#more concerned with morality despite pretending otherwise#(by concern I don't mean adhering to rules more purposely picking and choosing but aware of them at all times)#ANYWAY it's a joke post ✌️#iwtv#interview with the vampire#amc iwtv

very niche but, did we realize yet as a collective that if brocedes are literally louis de pointe du lac and lestat de lioncourt from interview with the vampire (2022) then, rosquez are literally daniel molloy and armand???
because i was thinking about it and even more-so in the tv show... old blonde blue eyed sarcastic extremely curious dude with two daughters that has it out (for a reason he can't pinpoint) for this doe eyed young looking mysterious even older vampire but is aroused scared by him because of the power he has on him and his memories and he doesn't quite remember that they've had a situationship 50 years prior for 12 years that totally changed his life and he's sure he has messed with his head so he hates him... and even the book canon of it all of — the age gap (of 420ish years??), their codependency, the stalking/hunting through all the world (kind of like them travelling for the races), the push and pull, the toxicity, the blood amulet, the thinking they're going to hate eachother if they both become vampires because they DON'T KNOW HOW TO VERBALLY COMMUNICATE, and then not seeing eachother FOR YEARS but still being madly in love? but being just too stubborn and proud to overcome their stupid problems.
even the idea that marius tried his best to convince daniel that armand hated him for forcing him to turn him in a vampire, and not quite really succeeding? HELLO??? RINGS A BELL???? (i did not just compare alessio salucci to marius did i?)
feel free to add and share your thoughts btw this has been ongoing just in my head for too long, it's time to share it with the world!!!!
#i literally started iwtv YEARS AGO bc of how much lestat reminded me of nico#and LATER i found out that the movie is one of lewis' favorite movies.. like hes obsessed with it#did he see the tv show???#GENUINE QUESTION BC I THINK HE WOULD LOVE IT (and hate it)#daniel is of course the younger one but armand was technically turned as a teenager and his pre-frontal cortex for sure never developed#and the idea that daniel was the only one that ever loved armand for who he was and his weird habits and curiosities#idk it fits so well in the concept that valentino used to race for fun and because it meant freedom vs breadwinner marc who of course loves#racing but racing means he has to win at every cost even if that cost is his mental and physical well being#so like carefree vs has no choice BUT to be in control of everything#here you have devil's minion and rosquez#valentino growing old and always seeing marc looking just the same as he did ten years ago#GRRRR AHHHHH#THIS IS FOOD FOR YOU ALL FANFICTION WRITERS AND FANARTISTS THOUGHTS#brocedes!loustat#rosquez!devil's minion#lewis!ldpdl#nico!lestat#marc!armand#valentino!daniel molloy#AND ALSO LOUIS AND ARMAND USING EACHOTHER TO GO THROUGH THESE MESSES SJWJJWJA GOD THIS IS TOO GOOD#iwtv au#lewis hamilton#nico rosberg#marc marquez#valentino rossi#brocedes#rosquez#interview with the vampire#amc iwtv#ale's crazy talks

david in this part of this fucking interview is just like me fr tho like he makes everyone uncomfortable by talking very directly about death and then immediately starts talking about roger completely unprompted right after 😭

#lena.txt#me when i'm normal#david gilmour#roger waters#pink floyd#watermour#otp: our roles were complementary#also the flow of the conversation is so bizarre#like how do you go from talking about the distinction between passing and dying to asking how it felt to be the heartthrob of pink floyd#like the interviewer could’ve been like ‘oh yeah that’s a good point so my next question…’ like lmaooo#maybe he made the interviewer uncomfortable by speaking so directly about death who knows#i like what he said tho like… he was real for that#also i mean technically he was promoted to answer the question but he ain’t need to bring up roger at all#but clearly hearing heartthrob somehow made him think of roger so like idk man#obviously he’s just tryna get his digs in but like he goes about it in the gayest fashion#i must compliment him on that 🙂↕️

#I'm still waiting for the formal offer letter but let me tell you how i got this job#a hiring manager reached out to me on LinkedIn asking if I'd be interested in the team he's building#so i was like yeah I'll throw my hat in#i had an easy coding screen with him (valid palindrome lol)#then i had a screen with another manager around QA practices#then i went through four more interviews as part of a 'final loop'#one was a more difficult coding question. one was design a test framework. one was QA-behavorial#and the other was communication + collab behavorial#each of those six interviews was a 45 minute video call btw#this all took like. three months lmfao#then a week after that i heard back that they didn't want me for that role#but that one of the guys i interviewed with is a hiring manager on an adjacent team and he really liked me#when i looked back at my notes sure enough that guy is the one who ended our call with 'i hope i get to work with you!' lol#so they wanted to put me for this other slightly less technical role#and i was like yeah sure why not i liked that guy too lol#so the next day i had one final interview with a senior leader asking about my priorization and conflict resolution skills#which makes sense since this is a more cross-functional communication role with lots of talking to developers#and that guy was awesome and definitely someone I'd work for#so a few days later i got the verbal offer!#i will also add that during all of this i also went to the final stage for a different team at the same company#but was plain out rejected from that one lol#plus i did beginning screens for two other roles as well and didnt make it as far#all this to say i did like... over a dozen interviews with this company since October lol#and i studied like CRAZY. i spent hours on leetcode and hours putting together stories from my experience#i worked very very very hard and it finally fucking paid off!!!!!#back in october i said to my wife 'i want to get a job at (company). i think that will be my goal now.'#and she was like lol ok. but i kept getting interviews and studying for them#working harder than i ever did in college even lmao. and she was like oh wait you're really serious#and then she helped me sooooo much by taking care of the kids while i studied and stuff like that#but yeah i did it. i put my mind to it and i fucking did it!!!!!

"Sometimes, with my age..."
David Goffin reflects on his start to the season and analyses his playing style at the 2025 Abierto Mexicano
#i wish interviewers would ask more of these technical questions#fascinating to me to hear players dissect their technique#so many of them are such tennis nerds so i'm sure there would be more good answers like this one!#he does take the ball really early#and the explanation here of what happens when the timing is slightly off makes me understand better why he has these good days and bad days#where you can't really see from the outside what the difference is#a high risk playing style that's for sure#and probably only feasible because he hits the ball so incredibly cleanly#perhaps more so than any other player on the tour#i think i could probably recognise a david match by sound alone at this point#well if that isn't a sign i'm watching too much tennis#david goffin#tennis#abierto mexicano 2025

trying to put together some writing samples to apply for grad school and realizing I probably have a higher percentage of TBHK-adjacent undergrad projects than most people
#pickle pontificates#tbhk#which is like. two. but still#the ones in question being a PDF of crochet instructions for a technical writing class#and an interview with the EN translators for a media and professional writing class (still probably the funnest project i've done to date)#(shout out to them for being extremely cool and actually responding to me cold-emailing them)#it's just funny to me that you can pinpoint exactly where my head was actually at just by looking at the stuff I submitted for classes#or rather my heart. my head was in higher education. my heart was in enjoying manga for escapism purposes

Davidwache Police Station | Painting by Klaus Voormann Prior to being deported, Paul McCartney spends a night in the Davidwache police station.
In the meantime, the final four could start playing [at the Top Ten club] now, and move themselves into the bunk-bed accommodation at the top of the building.c Tony Sheridan was already here, possibly others too, and the Beatles were welcome to shoehorn themselves in. It was neither the Ritz nor the pits. John was the first to move. Then Paul and Pete went back to the Bambi to grab their gear.
The place was in near darkness, as usual. They had to strike a match to see their way about … and then they decided to leave Koschmider a little gift. Pete had a few “spunk bags,” and he and Paul had the idea to hang them on nails in the wall in the long concrete passageway and set light to them. “The place was dank and dark,” says Pete. “They spluttered, they stank, and OK, maybe they singed a tiny bit of tapestry on the wall. It caused nothing but a little smoke and a few scorch marks and then they went out.”41 It was the ultimate fuck you, Bruno, or so they thought.
They got to play one night in the Top Ten, and it seems to have been a good one, pulling business away from the Kaiserkeller, but it was just this one night. Having been shafted once by Eckhorn, when he’d prized away the Jets and Tony Sheridan from the Kaiserkeller, Koschmider wasn’t going to sit back and let it happen again. He might also have guessed the Beatles would make some grand gesture for his “benefit”—they could even have hinted of it—because an inspection was made of the Bambi’s rooms very quickly. When the stinkende qualmende Piedeltüten were found, he decided to form the view it was an attempt to burn down his cinema, and informed the police.
The chronology of events over the next twenty-four hours is rife with confusion and contradiction, but may have gone something like this. Paul was picked up by the police while walking along the Reeperbahn, taken by car to the Davidwache police station (two hundred meters from the Top Ten) and locked in a cell. Pete and John were also arrested. Koschmider didn’t know which of them was responsible for the “attempted arson,” so the Polizei rounded them all up. As Stuart wrote in a letter back to Liverpool a few days later:
I am living in the lap of luxury and contentment. Better than the cell I spent a night in last week. I was innocent this time though accused of arson—that is, setting fire to the Kino (cinema) where we sleep. I arrive at the club and am informed that the whole of Hamburg Police are looking for me. The rest of the band are already locked up, so smiling and very brave on the arm of Astrid, I proceed to give myself up. At this time I’m not aware of the charge. All my belongings, including spectacles, are taken away and I’m led to a cell where without food or drink I sat for six hours on a very wooden bench, the door shut very tight. I fall asleep at two in the morning. I signed a confession written in Deutsch that I knew nothing about a fire, and they let me go.42
John was also allowed to go. It was now clear who’d done the dirty deed, and for them the ordeal continued; Paul would always remember the little one-way peephole in the door of their detention room, through which he sensed they were watched. It seems he and Pete were then allowed to leave, but a few hours later—early the following morning—they were dragged out of their Top Ten bunk beds and interviewed a second time. Pete suggests they were taken to Hamburg’s main prison at Fühlsbuttel, Paul remembers it being “the Rathaus … it doesn’t mean rat house, it just felt like one.” They were interviewed by an official of the Bundeskriminalamt (Federal CID), one Herr Gerkins, and it was definitely inadvisable to snigger. Instead, they requested permission to contact the British Embassy, like people did in the films, and were refused; then they were taken for a car ride. “We tried our best to persuade him it was nothing,” Paul says, “and he said, ‘OK fine, well you go with these men.’ And that was the last we knew of it. We just headed out with these couple of coppers. And we were getting a bit ‘Oh dear, this could be the concentration camps’—you never know. It hadn’t been that long [since the war].”43
Criminal charges were not pressed, but Koschmider, inevitably, had the last laugh. It wasn’t a camp to which Paul and Pete were being taken, but the airport—and in handcuffs, according to Stuart. They were being deported, and banned from reentering Germany unless they lodged an appeal within a month. Auf Wiedersehen, Piedels! Handed their passports at the gate, they were put on the London plane, set to fly for the first time in their lives. It then got even tastier for Koschmider because Eckhorn was billed for at least part of the cost of the plane tickets. Bruno must have been rubbing his hands with joy.

This letter provides the only suggestion that John was arrested in the roundup; he’s not mentioned in other accounts. 43 Interview by Paul Gambaccini, Rolling Stone, June 12, 1979. Rathaus means “city hall.” Instead of the main prison at Fühlsbuttel, it’s more likely Paul and Pete were taken to the remand prison near St. Pauli called Untersuchungsgefängnis (easier done than said).

rewatched a chunk of the zane lowe apple music interview for evermore and realizing in eal time that hes kind of a bad interviewer
#barry.txt#taylor swift#or he doesnt really give or get what i want from interviews#its about the ''songwriting process'' but theres zero real technical talk or any questions diving into any songs or themes or...process#but I did get to watch the art of curving a question hard from taylor when he asked how joe felt about bon iver being featured on a song#he helped write and she dodged the question once and then he tried to ask it again and she curved it beautifully into talking abt working#w bon iver and it was so deeply funny#compared to like the interviews ive read for red or 1989 where she actually talks about the PROCESS like the artistic decisions it was just#so frustrating
