LOVE this movie it's absolutely perfect. really well-crafted gothic vampire Non-Western western. vampirism has been symbolic over the years of romance, isolation, addiction, exploitation...girl walks home alone at night somehow combines ALL of those masterfully. i love the twist on classic vampire tropes in film...one of my favorite examples is drawing from the use of shadows in 1922's nosferatu but using the girl's chador to shroud her in shadow instead. i really should give this one a rewatch soon

i love how gross this movie is. you're constantly just seeing sequences with spit up and rotting food on loop. it almost feels like psychological horror. you can't escape it because the lead can't escape it...honestly the most realistic script i've seen of a south asian movie addressing misogyny by actually combining it with critiquing hindutva. so many movies either separate it from hindutva, make the script way too stilted and obvious, or both. the beginning seemed a little rushed but i loved the rest of it!
