Initially I just wanted to change the color of the cactus, but then I was asked to "fix" the neighborhood Joshua tree and I said: do you know what? I'll do a DR of all the desert plants!

I know there are some DRs, but some require you to also replace the plants of the lot or are 4t2, a style that not everyone likes, so why not stay maxis match? Look how cute those flowers on the cactus are! I honestly haven't seen many DRs of desert plants, but correct me if I'm wrong!

As you can see, the difference is sooooo much, especially for the Joshua tree!
This DR also changes the preview of the lot plants in the lots impostors when you look from the neighborhood!
Each plant has its own real shadow but isn't very visible...

If you can't tell if they are plants from the lot or the neighborhood...then they work good! I don't think they are heavy for the neighborhood, after all in a desert neighborhood you don't have to put as many of them as you would put normal trees in a green neighborhood!

I have been working on a subhood for Strangetown since october. It will have all important sims and most locations from each rendition of Strangetown. I will also be making memories and set up storylines for it, so it is easier and more fun to get into.
I have recently finished all the buildings and finally can start working on the sims. Yipppeee

I have originally started making this only for myself, but it has taken me so long and became so big that I really want to share it now :>. I did not consider not using cc though when I first started, so I am gonna have to clean it up a bit first to remove as much of it as possible, some will have to stay though in order for some of the lots to even function.

Genetically Accurate Belladonna Cove
Hi everyone, It was a really long while… Yeah I said I will finish it soon back in December, but a lot of stuff got in the way so I couldn't really do so. But I finally managed to finish it so here is probably last GC hood from me - Belladonna Cove.
To be honest, if someone didn't ask about Belladonna Cove I would've forget about it for some more time. No idea why but that one question/request thingy reminded me there's just Belladonna left to make. The idea is simple - I took 1st gen ancestors, mixed them together and mixed these results together to get new faces for our playable sims. Tried to make them look as good and unique as it was possible with these faces. I like most of these faces so that's a good thing. (Not biggest fan of mixing face template based ancestors lol).

Unplayable sims (like deceased parents, spouses, uncles, etc etc) also got genetically mixed faces so I recommend checking trees if you feel like it. Also I added 2 missing sims to the tree, because Duarte Gere and Pasha Dordrius didn't have spouses and I don't like unfinished trees… Nothing too interesting about these, mainly there to fill the gaps.

This is based on clean version of hood, so there should be no mess left in the files. And as always their ages were set as it says on sims wiki, so hopefully also as they are in default version. I had to launch these neighbourhoods in game to edit everything so UC is required. In theory I didn’t use any expansion packs but that’s how the sims works sadly.
I probably should check on my subhoods, cuz in Desiderata post I said it will be (and is) JW07 but in my game files I noticed I already made JW07 and 08 for Olive's victims as townies subhood lol. Also ST genetic Bella subhood also has same number as something else. So yeah.. this one is 09 and for the future it will be less of a mess.
Also… for the first time I took my time to add missing translations for ancestors I added, so there shouldn't be any random names if you play other languages than english. I consider doing so for my previous GC hoods too. If you have any issues with these (or even this one) please tell me as I may fix them while working on that.

Another family from my custum neighborhood
The second chef family
With this family I wanted to make a piont that body size doesn't matter and that comments abou that can really hurt
The father puts a lot of love and passion in his cooking
However his family is not the most skinny because of that
The teen girl really struggles with making friends cause of her size
The mother turns a small blind eye to all of it
The child worries about being left out
What furture will they make? Especialy for their smalest
If their neighbors where a bit friendlier that would help for sure
What did they ever do to diserve the bulling?

[DOWNLOAD] DESATURATED (DEFAULT & CUSTOM) NEIGHBORHOOD CACTUS - UPDATED 07/09/2024

This is really a veeeeeery simple and fast texture edit on the neighborhood cactus that I made for a personal need! I didn't change the mesh, but only the texture, making it less saturated.
I had this file on my PC for a while and I was unsure whether to upload it because I haven't seen anyone playing with this type of desert terrain, but... maybe it can be useful to someone?
As you can see, the desert terrain I use is very light and that very saturated green didn't look very good with everything else, so I needed a desaturated cactus!
I remember that before removing all the default flora I had, the cactus were already desaturated, but searching through my removed cc I couldn't find a single default cactus (I guess I had a default of the lot cactus that also changed the texture of the neighborhood cactus at this point?)
The thing was...I wanted a cactus with a nice color without using a default that uses a high poly mesh, so I decided to just change the texture of maxis's cactus!

Unfortunately it's not a default replacement (I still have to figure out how to extract the hood decos with the included object data, so I can use the original guid and create a default! Please, if anyone knows how to do it, tell me ;;)
The desaturated color is the same from both the neighborhood and the lot-view and is very similar to the cactus for the lots! (And darker seems to have better quality too, I guess?)

Finally I'm releasing Westbrook Cove for download! Thanks so much to everyone who's asked for it and waited for it, I appreciate you all so much! ♥ Unedited preview under the cut! Please make a backup of your game before installing.
Creating a custom 'hood and releasing it for download is not hard and not a big deal at all, but since I was doing it for the very first time, of course it wasn't all smooth sailing- hence the wait. I had to recreate it 3 times lmao, due to not knowing all the facts (silly me) but it was all in good fun honestly and I'm super happy it's finally shareable! ��
Sooo, this 'hood is completely clean, no characters and no stealth 'hoods or anything. It was created using the Baskerville terrain which, of course, is included. You can play it using your own defaults, but here are the ones I use that you can see in the preview pics:

The folder with the 'hood (N025) goes to your 'Neighborhoods' folder in the Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (or just The Sims 2)/Neighborhoods 🐛 I debated whether I should include a folder with all the custom neighborhood deco you need, but I figured that probably most of you already have all the CC needed since the buildings and houses I used have been in the community for years! So instead I have made a CC list (under the cut) so you can easily download and/or check if you already have the needed deco. 🦓
There is also a folder with 10 residential lots created just for this 'hood to match its vibe and the aesthetic. They have all been cleaned, compressed and the little CC they have is included and the preview pics are under the cut. 🦔 But, just in case, download these build mode sets (in case you don't already have them):

@philosimy's marvelous Old Town neighbourhood provided the base and the inspiration, and you should go put some respect on their hard work before you download this. It might even be what you came here looking for in the first place!

Their post has all the info you'll need about the SC4 terrain this neighbourhood was built on, and a list of the CC you'll need to use it:

The good news is that that's all the CC you'll need to use the version with built lots. The bad news is that you'll need Ultimate Collection or all EPs and SPs to make everything work the way it was made. The even worse news is that it can't be perfectly 1:1 or as-is functional, but every lot is as close as I could get to how they appear in The Sims 1 Complete Collection. Basically, do a pass with your own CC and you'll make it nice.

To install:
Check your Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods folder to ensure it does not already contain a folder called “B407.” If it does, you will have to delete that neighbourhood to make room for this one.
Download and unpack OldTown2.rar.
Place the folder inside (named “B407”) in your Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods folder.
Start your game and play.
None of the lots in this neighbourhood have been so much as touched by a Sim to reduce game-breaking issues. The neighbourhood itself contains no parts that will break your game. Objects may not appear in your game as advertised in this post, depending on your mix of default replacements and object fixes.

If you're only looking for individual lots, they're in the same SimFileShare folder as the neighbourhood and are 100% CC-free. I'll be making posts with caps and details for each one. I won't be making TS1 Sims to go in them, though; many others have done a better job than I could. Have fun finding or making your own.
So, not a perfect conversion. This is partially due to the self-imposed no-CC requirement, and partially due to the very nature of the differences between Sims 1 and 2. If you have an intuition of how Sims 1 looks, you'll notice:
Spiral stairs in odd positions and longer linear stairs.
A lack of curved stairs.
Wide blank spaces between the contents of a beach lot and its shoreline.
Different distances between buildings on a lot or between a building and the edge of a lot.
Differently-shaped shorelines and bodies of water.
Different terrain shapes and paints.
Fences that occupy the edge of a tile rather than the tile itself.
I can't change the above because they are foundational differences between the two games. The below, however, are stylistic choices that you should absolutely trash and redo with your own game:
Foundations and decks replacing floors.
Incongruous build and buy items.
Empty shopping and game space in community lots.
Mod-Related Notes:
The only mod compatibility issue will be with road default replacements. This hood requires Criquette's to work (see CC list above).
Voeille's Seawater: lots with or near water need a pool tile or two added to work properly.
Some community lots contain career reward objects or similar hidden items. You do not need any CC for these to appear on the lots.
However, in order for lot visitors to use the microphones, you'll need lamare's community lot mic fix.
