My initials are LO (He/They). I saw you were looking for reading requests and I have a query for you! Currently, I am thinking about pursuing a very competitive career path, but it is one that I am very passionate about. So, I was wondering, is there any advice for pursuing that path? Thanks a bunch and hope you have a great day!
Welcome back to the ask box, LO! Thank you for saving me from my boredom. For your reading, I am using the Pathfinder Oracle by A. L. Swartz of skullgarden.net. Your card is positive Bat.

What a perfect little fella. Anyhow. Bat hears all and never misses a wingbeat. Unusual methods and undeniable results will be key to victory, so long as they're sufficient. Hone in on your goals and never let them out of range.
However, be warned: "competitive career" is often a smokescreen for "downright abusive treatement of employees". Do not forget your worth and do not accidentally fly into a tree while seeking your goal.
In short, go get 'em, tiger! You know what you can do, so flaunt it! Don't undersell yourself and your capabilities just because it might intimidate someone else. If you feel so inclined, please feel free to send feedback in my ask box, leave feedback in a reblog of this reading, and/or reblog my reading guidelines!

Planning a visit to beautiful Victoria, BC, but don’t have access to a car? You’re not alone — and you’re not out of options. Whether you're a cruise ship visitor landing in downtown Vancouver, a local planning a weekend getaway, or a tourist exploring Vancouver Island, multiple car-free travel options are scenic, efficient, and budget-conscious.
As someone familiar with both cities, I’ve got the full scoop on traveling from Vancouver to Victoria without a car and making the most of your day once you arrive.
Why Travel Car-Free Between Vancouver and Victoria?
Bringing a car onto the ferry is costly, and navigating two busy city centres isn't everyone’s idea of a relaxing trip. Plus, with today’s innovative and seamless travel services, you can make the journey stress-free and even more enjoyable without a vehicle.
Top perks of going car-free:
Avoid the ferry vehicle lineup
Save money on transportation
Reduce emissions and travel lighter
Access downtown-to-downtown travel options
Enjoy sightseeing without worrying about parking
Now, look at the best Vancouver to Victoria transportation options without a car.
1. BC Ferries from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay (Budget-Friendly & Scenic)

Reformation (is not) Revolution
Jan 17, 2022
In 2012, Nicholas Fox beseeched self-identified radical teachersat the collegiate-level to teach “text as tactic (pg 15).” Fox describes this pedagogical method as a collection of activities that include:
1) exhibiting texts to then be critically interpreted individually and communally and;
2) using text and interpretations to persuade audiences to agree with radical arguments.
According to him, employing this praxis will allow the classroom to be a site for generating social action and empowering radical students into radical citizens. Activism takes action outside of the classroom and teachers should be helping to facilitate discussions into actions. Should they? Teaching (is not) Activism serves as an activity sheet that instructors can use to ~teach activism~ but is activism something you can learn by reading about the topic or from a certification course? This paper then serves as a rebuttal to that paper. One written with what bell hooks calls ‘the oppositional gaze’, Afrofuturism, and Black feminisms. A paper asking instructors to become radical individuals themselves before teaching activism.
I agree that it isn’t enough to just hand a student a book. In Black women’s liberatory pedagogies pedagogy is defined as “action, a political endeavor aimed at decolonizing and redefining the ways we think about teaching, learning, and praxis (pg 3).” Traditionally, pedagogy is referred to as the art or science of teaching, and “tends to encompass instructional analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of student learning.” However, the authors implore that pedagogy and education do not include holistic approaches to teaching and students. Pedagogy as a field, as well as with its current traditional definition continues to limit teaching to a classroom and exclude the many contexts of teaching and learning black folks have created over the years: way before gaining access to education. It adds that the Western academy has appropriated from precolonial Africa, Asia, and the Americas ideas on cooperative/ communal, experiential, active, student-centered, social-emotional, and service learning, as well as scholar-activism and social justice education (Orelus & Brock, 2014; Hilliard, 1998; King & Swartz, 2014, 2016; Reagan, 2004). This is why we need Black women’s liberatory pedagogies - to (de)construct and (re)construct canonical knowledge and expose oppressive ideologies in power relations in and outside academe. Nothing exacerbated the need for revolution within the education system like the forest fire that was schooling folks throughout the COVID - 19 pandemic. With pass/fail mandates, remote learning, standardized tests, student activists, and employees unionizing we could see huge changes in the university pedagogy field sooner than anyone could have hoped for. Fox uses the article to begin asking what teachers should be teaching. I’m asking for teachers who want the responsibility of equipping their students with texts as tactics to actually be activists at minimum within the academy. Performative activists exist in and out of the academy. Simplifying community action into understanding seminal texts determined to be seminal by people brighter than a brown paper bag and thinking students without holistic support with then starting said revolution sounds performative.
Campus-based activism from the earliest historical accounts, has reflected grievances based in the political dynamics of a nation (Boren, 2001). Activism has been a significant tactic for reform of the American Higher Education system since colonial times. Students advocated for religious freedom on campus, ousted presidents, and boycotted British goods. Significantly, White students have always engaged in racial violence against Black students (Sasso and DeVitis, 2019). From abolitionists being targeted for antislavery sentiments during the Antebellum period, to cross burnings during the Civil rights era, to dorm defacing and cyber attacks of the modern collegiate-era: activism has always been there. As Cassie L. Barnhardt states:
“Campuses should pay careful attention to displays of activism because they serve as a sort of flashing red light, denoting that the campus should stop, take notice, and navigate the situation with acute attention, deliberate discourse, and reflection on its institutionalized values and practices. University leaders should be careful not to simply mimic the response of other campuses, but choose an approach that is compatible with the issues, as well as with the organization’s resources and values.” - Chapter 1: Student Activism in the Academy: Its Struggles and Promise
Learning is not static. Learning is social and should activate every agent of the knowledge production system’s collective sense of agency. Instead of trying to ignite students to be the catalysts for change instructors should distribute that responsibility to themselves first. I think that students and student-faculty; tenured and non-tenured faculty; administration; and staff all have a stake in changing the academy for the better. In more recent years with societal ideas towards labor inequality being popularized, more employees on all levels have begun to ask their employers for more. Disrupting the ways that faculty, students, and administrators are recruited, hired, examined, accepted, and qualified is the minimum of what’s needed. There are no homogenized, quantified, or commodified paths to liberatory pedagogies. Everything must go.
Not everyone needs to be an activist. But if you want to teach text as a tactic I hope you do more for the world other than create lesson plans and pass out literature. Leave the classroom first, then the real work can begin.
In my second year of graduate school I told everyone in my pedagogy course that teaching as a whole is just “a bunch of activities that may or may not work.” Especially when we think of the plethora of students who are consistently left out of the knowledge making process through repeated academic trauma from instructors trying new theories out. How about we start creating our syllabi after we get a chance to survey our students? What would happen if we were to offer all students A’s at the beginning of the semester regardless of participation? What if we started from scratch? Until the tactics used in the academe aid in creating new teaching practices; radicalizing faculty; staff and administration; and creating a new future in education we are not moving forward!

Every few years I return to this documentary, and I remember this young man. I feel it’s important for every US citizen, in fact, for every world citizen to see this documentary, to understand what the US does to those who truly have the ability and the heart to change the status quo in a substantial way. Whether this person is good, or bad, whether the changes they bring along with them are positive, or negative, this doesn’t matter to the US government. All that matters to the US government is that the status quo is being disrupted, or that there is even a potential for the status quo to be disrupted. If you are good, they will make you bad. Your decency or the virtue of your endeavors will just be another obstacle to them. Naturally, if you are good, they can’t make you bad, but they can make you appear to be bad, and to them, that’s the same thing. Empires of the past did not care about appearances; the US relies on and exploits them to its advantage – its vassal states follow suit. That’s not to say that they really care about appearances per say; they just know they have to cater to them in the new Age they find themselves in – that is, the Information Age. The US and its protectorates will not hesitate to employ methods unspeakable, in fact almost unimaginable, to discredit, dishonor, and ultimately negate the life of those whom they deem to be a true threat to the “natural order of things.”
It brings to mind a scene from the 1988 film The Last Temptation of Christ, based on Nikos Kazantzakis’ 1955 book of the same title. In the film, the following exchange takes place between Pontius Pilate and Jesus of Nazareth:
Pontius Pilate : “You know, it’s one thing to want to change the way that people live… but you want to change how they think, and how they feel.”
Jesus of Nazareth : “All I’m saying is that change will happen with love, not with killing.”
Pontius Pilate : “Either way it’s dangerous. It’s against Rome. It’s against the way the world is. And killing or loving, it’s all the same. It simply doesn’t matter how you want to change things. We don’t want them changed.”
Was not the life, teachings, and work of Jesus of Nazareth also negated? The same Pharisees who crucified Jesus of Nazareth twisted and adulterated his message to suit their own needs for power and control: they are alive and well even today. I realize I may be going on a strange tangent here, but stop to consider: when you see those who claim to represent the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, with their fat bellies and their golden scepters, be they donned in white or draped in black, whom do you see? Do you see the one who has been christened by the holy spirit? Or do you see the Pharisees? I tell you, with the eyes of eternity, you will see, they are one and the same, they are the same Pharisees, and they will be the first to be spitting and foaming at the mouth should another human being receive the blessing of the holy spirit. Like rabid dogs they will demand for the arrest and even the execution of whomsoever might receive the christening, however auspiciously, or however accidentally, be they man or woman.
But I have digressed enough… and I will speak at length about all these things at a later time, when the time is right, and I will have terrible things to say.
But what does all this have to do with Aaron Swartz? Well, Aaron was also a prophetic young man, an idealist who was punished not for any real crime of his own, but for the iniquities and the shortsightedness of those around him. What was his crime? Trying to make scientific knowledge, which was mostly funded by American taxpayer dollars, freely available to all, as the law mandated? What right did these private entities have to keep this precious knowledge behind a paywall? They should have been the ones to answer to the law, as their right to privately profit from and gatekeep the publicly funded treasure store of human knowledge was not only ethically questionable, it was legally dubious. Instead, Aaron was the one called in front of the court to answer for his “crimes.”
I started from an ontological basis to see Aaron, and people like Aaron, whom I will call prophets, as having the same breath and breadth of life passing through them as the enlightened one, the one who has received the christening, be he Jesus of Nazareth or Siddhartha Gautama, or be she a human woman whose name we do not yet know, or maybe Joan of Arc, I don’t know. These prophetic souls, such as Aaron, have the same breath and breadth of life passing through them, and receive much the same treatment: if not maligned or persecuted, then at least, or at worst, rendered unrecognizable and therefore irrelevant by the edifice which grows around them over the centuries. I started from that ontological basis, as I find the ontological substrate and the holy spirit to be one and the same, or at least reflections of each other. The symbolic world rests on the calm lake of our perception as passing clouds, and birds, and airplanes. But these pass as mere reflections of an ontological foundation which paradoxically exists in the sky above us, with which we must look up to see, not down, and with which we must go up to see, not down. For as Bob Dylan once said, “I’m trying to go up […] and down is very close to the ground.” Now pardon the metaphor, and what with all this talk of moving up, let’s move on down now from the ontological strata to the symbological strata to the symbiological strata if you will, the sociological strata:
How sad that in the US, a young man often called “The next Steve Jobs” would meet such a fate. But it was not always this way. Let’s look to his predecessor:
Before he started Apple, Steve Jobs made his first real money selling “Blue Boxes” created by his friend and cofounder of Apple, Steve Wozniak. These were little blue boxes which could mimic the sounds and frequencies used by the major phone companies to make long distance calls. You could connect your little blue box to a payphone in New York, for example, and make free long distance calls to Australia, or wherever you wanted. Jobs and Wozniak were basically hacking the phone system, the entire telecommunications network and infrastructure of the entire US, in fact, of the entire world, for a profit. Even at the time, this was a very serious federal crime.
How come they never faced any charges or consequences? Luck? Prosecutorial discretion? Apathy on the part of law enforcement? Who knows?
But it was a different time then. The 70’s. People who came of age in the 70’s will often talk about how things were much more lax back then, much more laid back. This allowed for experimentation and creativity. This allowed for a testing of rules and boundaries, which is a normal and healthy part of a young person’s growth. This allowed for Apple, and The Macintosh, and eventually the first smartphone.
What Age did Aaron find himself in? Aaron, who was a bonafide genius in his own right? Aaron found himself in a post 9/11 America, where the letter of the law is worshipped, the spirit of the law is ignored, and punishment and control are sought with an almost sadomasochistic zeal. How can creativity thrive, or even survive under such conditions? It cannot.
And so we pass from the sociological to the symbolic and back again, as I believe that Aaron is a symbol: a symbol of the death of creativity in America, a symbol of the punishment of true creativity, a symbol of the infeasibility of true freedom in a post 9/11 US. America never recovered from the shock of 9/11, and continues to sleepwalk in a post-traumatic malaise reminiscent of the insomniac, who, ridden with guilt and anxiety, can never rest, and only occasionally snaps back into a hypervigilant momentary awareness: just long enough to lock his doors, check his security cameras, and load his gun.
Aaron was the victim of a cruel and unbending father, who, unable to see the potential in his child, sees the disruption of his normalcy as an evil in and of itself. “Rules are rules!” “If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime!” “The law is the law!” Never mind that the law is not always in accordance with what is ethical, that the terms “legal” and “ethical” are not always synonymous, nor are the terms “illegal” and “unethical,” that slavery used to be perfectly legal, that a slave escaping his captivity used to be considered a criminal, and still is.
As long as you continue to persecute and kill your most promising sons and daughters, true creativity will never return to your country. Instead, whatever creativity remains will not be real creativity, it will not be real ingenuity, it will be counterfeit at best and devious at worst. It will become a dark shadow of itself, having none of the grace of love, but only the domineering and perverse need for power and control… as Jung put it, “Power is the shadow of love.” This twisted hunger for power and control, and all the devious ways it expresses itself, will lead you not into a new, and better, and more expansive world, but into a small and dark room. Instead of taking a small step, or a giant leap forwards from Capitalism, just as you did from Manorialism, to Feudalism, to Capitalism, and so forth, you will be falling blindly backwards into what my countryman Yanis Varoufakis likes to call “Technofeudalism,” but unlike in your mandatory corporate team-building exercises, there will be no one there to catch you.
You will continue to shuffle around your home, half-awake and half-asleep, not quite awake and not yet sleeping, looking out your viewports for new enemies, creating them when you can’t find any, and when all the codes are set and the passwords locked, the windows shut, the doors closed tight, you’ll reach for the TV remote (don’t forget to check the security cameras first!) and settle into another reboot, another Hollywood regurgitation from a time long past when maybe at least some people felt free, at least some people dared to be free, and took risks, and caught chances. But not anymore thankfully, because everything’s under control now, praise god. You’ll get high off the fumes of the past, and that’ll give you just enough to pleasure to endure your life as a wage slave, to stomach the bubblegum pop culture rammed down your throat, which you think you might be beginning to like, ‘cause you’ve gotten used to it now, and it’s warm and comforting and familiar, and “it tastes just like the real thing!” they say, of course, you’re not really sure if it does, in fact, you can’t even remember what the real thing tastes like, or if it was ever really real at all, or if you even experienced it. Was it all a dream? Was it all one big American Dream? Is that too on-the-nose? Sorry, but…
How do I know all this? Because it’s me. That’s right, it’s me. It’s easy to say “you,” or “we,” but no, it’s me. I am the Cosmic American. I am a reflection of you, and I know exactly what you’re going through.
I don’t know what the answer is, I just know it’s important to remember good people like Aaron Swartz. Anyway, I’m pretty tired now, I’ve been writing a long time, so I wish you all a good day. I think I’m going to have something to eat now. Cheers.

Car, Ferry or Plane?
Considering a visit to Victoria, BC and curious about your travel options?
I've got some insights for you!
This isn't a complete guide, but it highlights the primary methods to reach this stunning island.
Your main options include:
Taking a ferry, with options for both vehicle and foot passengers
Flying in, either to YYJ airport or directly into Victoria's harbor via seaplane
Opting for a helicopter ride, offering a speedy and luxurious journey
Delving into ferry travel:
Primarily, there are three ferry services, with BC Ferries being the most popular. BC Ferries caters to both vehicle and foot passengers. One point to note is the distance of the ferry terminals from major cities. The Victoria terminal for BC Ferries is situated in Swartz Bay, about 30km north of Victoria, requiring a 35-45 minute drive. For those without a vehicle, there are transportation options available from the terminal. On the mainland, the terminal is located in Tsawwassen, roughly 35km south of downtown Vancouver, translating to a 40-60 minute drive. This terminal is also conveniently close to the US border. An alternative route from the North side of Vancouver involves taking a ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, followed by a 1.5-hour drive to Victoria. Booking in advance is recommended for those bringing a car to ensure a spot on your desired sailing.
The Clipper ferry service is ideal for travelers from Seattle, offering a direct route to Victoria Harbor for foot passengers only. Though pricier than BC Ferries, it provides a seamless journey from downtown Seattle.
The Blackball ferry line's MV Coho offers another option for both cars and passengers, departing from Port Townsend in the US and arriving directly in Victoria Harbor. Despite the discontinuation of the Victoria to Anacortes Island service, there's hope for its future return.
Regarding air travel to Victoria:
For those coming from afar, flying is a common choice. The main airport is Victoria International Airport (YYJ), located near the ferry terminal on the Saanich Peninsula, about a 30-minute drive from the city. It offers a range of car rental services and shuttle options to the city center. Seaplane services, landing directly in Victoria Harbor, offer a scenic and convenient alternative, with providers like Harbor Air connecting to nearby locations including Vancouver Harbor.
For a swift and exhilarating experience, Helijet provides helicopter flights from Vancouver directly to downtown Victoria or Nanaimo, with the journey to Victoria taking just 35 minutes.
To assist further, here are some useful links:

For those interested, I've uploaded my entire library of books on Palestine/Israel to the cloud, in digital form (mostly pdf and epub) so you can access them. It's a little over 1700 books, a lot of them good and important, some of them historical or political curiosities. Nearly all are in English, I'm afraid. You can download any that interest you individually, or the whole library (about 13 GB). And feel free to share this. Link: https://tinyurl.com/32aj9364
FYI: Some people have asked how to download the whole library. I'm told you can do it by just clicking the arrow next to the "Palestine - Israel" heading, then click "download" from the drop-down menu. Short of that, you have to select all the 1700+ items by scrolling down, then click download, and I think you'll get a zip file. If this doesn't work, or if you know another method, let me know in the comments! You might want to download soon. There's always a chance I will go the way of Aaron Swartz for this.

IXPE Untangles Theories Surrounding Historic Supernova Remnant - Technology Org

IXPE Untangles Theories Surrounding Historic Supernova Remnant - Technology Org
NASA’s IXPE (Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer) telescope has captured the first polarized X-ray imagery of the supernova remnant SN 1006.
The new results expand scientists’ understanding of the relationship between magnetic fields and the flow of high-energy particles from exploding stars.
This new image of supernova remnant SN 1006 combines data from NASA’s Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer and NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. The red, green, and blue elements reflect low, medium, and high energy X-rays, respectively, as detected by Chandra. The IXPE data, which measures the polarization of the X-ray light, is show in purple in the upper left corner, with the addition of lines representing the outward movement of the remnant’s magnetic field. Image credit: NASA/CXC/SAO (Chandra); NASA/MSFC/Nanjing Univ./P. Zhou et al. (IXPE); IR: NASA/JPL/CalTech/Spitzer; Image Processing: NASA/CXC/SAO/J.Schmidt
“Magnetic fields are extremely difficult to measure, but IXPE provides an efficient way for us to probe them,” said Dr. Ping Zhou, an astrophysicist at Nanjing University in Jiangsu, China, and lead author of a new paper on the findings, published in The Astrophysical Journal.
“Now we can see that SN 1006’s magnetic fields are turbulent, but also present an organized direction.”
Situated some 6,500 light-years from Earth in the Lupus constellation, SN 1006 is all that remains after a titanic explosion, which occurred either when two white dwarfs merged or when a white dwarf pulled too much mass from a companion star.
Initially spotted in spring of 1006 CE by observers across China, Japan, Europe, and the Arab world, its light was visible to the naked eye for at least three years. Modern astronomers still consider it the brightest stellar event in recorded history.
Since modern observation began, researchers have identified the remnant’s strange double structure, markedly different from other, rounded supernova remnants. It also has bright “limbs” or edges identifiable in the X-ray and gamma-ray bands.
“Close-proximity, X-ray-bright supernova remnants such as SN 1006 are ideally suited to IXPE measurements, given IXPE’s combination of X-ray polarization sensitivity with the capability to resolve the emission regions spatially,” said Douglas Swartz, a Universities Space Research Association researcher at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
“This integrated capability is essential to localizing cosmic-ray acceleration sites.”
Previous X-ray observations of SN 1006 offered the first evidence that supernova remnants can radically accelerate electrons, and helped identify rapidly expanding nebulae around exploded stars as a birthplace for highly energetic cosmic rays, which can travel at nearly the speed of light.
Scientists surmised that SN 1006’s unique structure is tied to the orientation of its magnetic field, and theorized that supernova blast waves in the northeast and southwest move in the direction aligned with the magnetic field, and more efficiently accelerate high-energy particles.
IXPE’s new findings helped validate and clarify those theories, said Dr. Yi-Jung Yang, a high-energy astrophysicist at the University of Hong Kong and coauthor of the paper.
“The polarization properties obtained from our spectral-polarimetric analysis align remarkably well with outcomes from other methods and X-ray observatories, underscoring IXPE’s reliability and strong capabilities, Yang said.
Researchers say the results demonstrate a connection between the magnetic fields and the remnant’s high-energy particle outflow. The magnetic fields in SN 1006’s shell are somewhat disorganized, per IXPE’s findings, yet still have a preferred orientation. As the shock wave from the original explosion passes through the surrounding gas, the magnetic fields become aligned with the shock wave’s motion.
Charged particles are trapped by the magnetic fields around the original point of the blast, where they quickly receive bursts of acceleration. Those speeding high-energy particles, in turn, transfer energy to keep the magnetic fields strong and turbulent.
IXPE has observed three supernova remnants – Cassiopeia A, Tycho, and now SN 1006 – since launching in December 2021, helping scientists develop a more comprehensive understanding of the origin and processes of the magnetic fields surrounding these phenomena.
Scientists were surprised to find that SN 1006 is more polarized than the other two supernova remnants, but that all three show magnetic fields oriented such that they point outward from the center of the explosion.
As researchers continue to explore IXPE data, they are re-orienting their understanding of how particles get accelerated in extreme objects like these.

4 min read IXPE Untangles Theories Surrounding Historic Supernova Remnant This new image of supernova remnant SN 1006 combines data from NASA’s Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer and NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. The red, green, and blue elements reflect low, medium, and high energy X-rays, respectively, as detected by Chandra. The IXPE data, which measure the polarization of the X-ray light, is show in purple in the upper left corner, with the addition of lines representing the outward movement of the remnant’s magnetic field. X-ray: NASA/CXC/SAO (Chandra); NASA/MSFC/Nanjing Univ./P. Zhou et al. (IXPE); IR: NASA/JPL/CalTech/Spitzer; Image Processing: NASA/CXC/SAO/J.Schmidt NASA’s IXPE (Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer) telescope has captured the first polarized X-ray imagery of the supernova remnant SN 1006. The new results expand scientists’ understanding of the relationship between magnetic fields and the flow of high-energy particles from exploding stars. “Now we can see that SN 1006’s magnetic fields are turbulent, but also present an organized direction.” Situated some 6,500 light-years from Earth in the Lupus constellation, SN 1006 is all that remains after a titanic explosion, which occurred either when two white dwarfs merged or when a white dwarf pulled too much mass from a companion star. “This integrated capability is essential to localizing cosmic-ray acceleration sites.” Previous X-ray observations of SN 1006 offered the first evidence that supernova remnants can radically accelerate electrons, and helped identify rapidly expanding nebulae around exploded stars as a birthplace for highly energetic cosmic rays, which can travel at nearly the speed of the light. For the first time, we can map the magnetic field structures of supernova remnants at higher energies with enhanced detail and accuracy – enabling us to better understand the processes driving the acceleration of these particles. What Would Open Source Look Like If It Were Healthy?

“What Would Open Source Look Like If It Were Healthy?” That’s the question Sumana Harihareswara set out to answer in her Github talk earlier this week — a talk that considers FLOSS in the broadest possible terms and still makes specific, concrete proposals.
https://www.harihareswara.net/sumana/2021/05/06/0
Harihareswara starts with the obvious proposition that “open source” can’t be healthy if the programmers who create it aren’t healthy, and draws a link between basic income, child care and universal health care and the health of open source.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q06viKCU4Z0
She also points out that the “health” of open source has been systematically poisoned by harassment, misogyny and racism, and names people who were driven out of OSS because of their gender and race — as well as people like Aaron Swartz, hounded to death by the FBI.
From there, Harihareswara embarks on three speculative narratives in which “user personas” — a common tool among software developers and product managers seeking to understand how to suit their work to its eventual users are elucidated.
The first is the story of a new kind of community nonprofit, one that goes beyond the idea of “learn to code” and specifically engages with underserved communities to help them develop their own technical infrastructure that suits their own needs.
This nonprofit, based on the Australian Data Science Education Institute, works with formerly incarcerated people before and during re-entry, helping them start a project that maps automatic defibrillators in their community, and identifies AED deserts.
The project is boring, at a technical level, but it can have a profound effect on its community, and its real-world salience makes it a fantastic training exercise. Harihareswara describes the tooling that allows a small number of experts to support this community.
The next persona is “Paula,” a DMV data-entry clerk who, thanks to her union and new procurement rules for DMVs, ends up working on an OSS replacement for the bloated, terrible software that state DMVs use across the country.
Paula goes from user to contributor to co-maintainer, and her story reveals how good labor practices, good governance and good community norms are essential to spreading open methodologies to the places they’re most needed.
The final persona is “Sean,” the maintainer of a project to integrate Drupal with Instagram, who is facing burnout. Rather than being given destructive “productivity” advice to let him stave off his inevitable collapse, Sean is given a graceful way to step down from his role.
This graceful method requires user- and developer-based democratic governance of OSS projects, and includes both novel tooling for decision-making, novel norms in accepting that most projects will eventually wind down, and new roles in the form of “wind-down” specialists.
Throughout the talk, Harihareswara skilfully weaves tooling with social impact, norms with technology, ethics with practice. The Q&A is fascinating as well. The whole talk is available as a video and in edited transcript.

5 Real-life Lessons About Textured Concrete
A person illustration of an easy stamp is often a square of plywood that has a cope with protruding through the best. Every time the ply is gently pressed in to the wet concrete and removed, it will eventually go away powering a distinct bit pretty comparable pattern. This is often a traditional means of texturing drywall ceilings, as well.
The large-duty resin presents remarkable adhesion along with the reliable colour improves the fresh seem the coating delivers. Simply just use a normal paintbrush or roller and implement directly to the concrete surface area.

The Phoenix dwelling of designers and builders Sarah Swartz Wessel and Ethan Wessel sits amid desert-friendly trees and crops. The few bought the property in 1998 and worked on the home for ten years. With block-outs, you are able to put intricate shapes and designs, as well as a assortment of elements, inside of a slab to ensure that it appears to generally be a stable pour.

These get way too deep for a quarter-inch overlay.” Maycock suggests QC helps make an overlay intended particularly to become stampable, and whilst normally overlays that are usually greater than a 50 % inch may be problematic, “I’d estimate ninety five p.c of texture mats are reasonably shallow inside their impressions,” and suited to overlays, he says.

The President's Father
Aka, I talk about the Reiwa First Generation Spoilers.
A fair number of past winter films for Rider have used the opportunity to expand on part of the background for the current show. Without Begins Night we would probably have never had Kamen Rider Skull, or known for sure Narumi Sokichi was a Rider at all. Megamax told us months in advance that Gamou was connected to Foundation X. We learn a little about why Krim Steinbelt made himself a belt rather than a robot, with Cyberroid ZZZ's design giving us the context to recognise in a couple of weeks that Chase didn't share the same creator as the other Roidmudes. Genesis decided to explain Tenkuji Ryu's death, only for the show to reveal that literally every detail was wrong. The first Heisei Generations revealed one key detail a few weeks before the show did, and hinted at another months in advance. FINAL really just have us some more insight into who Katsuragi Takumi was, something that was very uncertain at the time, and an early look at the Nebula Steam Gun.
It's also true that the crossover portions, especially since they took on their current forms, have more to do with the current show. I think only two of the Movie Wars averted this.
Here it's primarily a Zero-One story, but using Zi-O elements to tell the story with the past in an interesting way, with new Time Jacker Finis altering the events of 12 years ago thanks to Another Zero-One.
So starting off, I'd like to cover the stuff that should be true of the original timeline. Apparently the Human Hiden Soreo might still be alive. Soreo (I think the Humagear) is responsible for the creation of the Zero-One Driver and the ForceRiser. Soreo and Will were both involved in the Ark being developed, with Will seeming to agree with the Ark's will, while Soreo only pretends to. Whether or not this means Will was with MetsubouJinrai in the main timeline I can't say. It does seem that Soreo would have been active as Ichigata in the original timeline as well.
The timeline change seems to centre around events on 2007. I don't think the events are Daybreak itself, it seems more like this stuff happens before Daybreak would have. Either way, the linchpin of the change is two events. The first is Will being given the power of Another Zero-One, which he uses to murder Kurenosuke, and enables the second event, the successful launching of the Ark into space, where it is able to connect to every Humagear, except Izu, and turn them against humanity and create a peaceful society.
Aruto loses his powers as Zero-One not because of the Another Riders existence, but because the time change means Zea is now underground and can't supply enough power. The belt later get stolen by Will, and winds up with Soreo so he can get it back for the finale. Soreo secretly gives Aruto the ForceRiser so he can become 001, even as he keeps having to fight him as Ichigata.
Now for Zi-O, our current understanding, from the Final Stage, is that his story goes something like this: Episode 1-12, Heisei Generations Final, 13-28, Rider Time Ryuki, 29-44, Bibiru Geiz, 45-49, Reset, Next Time Geiz, Over Quartzer, Final Stage, with maybe a repeat of the events of the show, except with the Quartzers instead of the Time Jackers between Geiz and Over Quartzer. This would be between the reset and Geoz Majesty, with their memories being temporarily restored thanks to the Time Distortion. They should be back to being ordinary high schoolers at the end.
Finis intrigues me. She's the biggest question to me. Like Tid last year, she's a Time Jacker, so surely she must have been given her power ls by Swartz right? Where was she? Her actual plan is unclear too. I wouldn't say it's totally impossible she just engineered the history change to reawaken Sougo as a method of obtaining the power of Another 1.
That's all I can think to share on this at the moment. If anyone has any theories or ideas or questions please feel free to share.

Zi-O 48-1: In which I surrender and watch the raw.
So, it’s been a few days, and I know that the subbers have their own lives and whatnot, but… I can’t safely go on tumblr until I see this, because I follow a lot of Rider blogs, and have the Zi-O tag tracked, and i’ve got friends talking about this…
So I’m caving and watching 48 without subs. It’s been a long while since I’ve had to do this!
Enjoy eleven and a half pages of me being a nerd over a children’s tv show, that I can’t even properly understand.
(EDIT: SHIT SORRY I THOUGHT I”D PUT THE READ MORE IN THERE)
–––– ––––
Actually, first, I watched 47 again, to refresh myself, and noticed something. Not only did Tsukasa do the hand pose from the Zi-O promotional material when he transformed, but so did Daiki as Another Zi-O II.
The main difference is that Daiki used his pointer and middle finger – because he’s the second form.
It’s the little touches.
––––
We pick up exactly where we left off last time – with Tsukuyomi, Sougo, Daiki, and Decade finding htemselves surrounded by mooks and monsters from heisei riders past. Mirror monsters, makamou, masquerade dopants, yummys, dustards, ghouls, inves… so Ryuki, Hibiki, Double, OOO, Fourze, Wizard, and Gaim are gone. The meteors, and skywall say that Kabuto and Build are, too. Adding in the roidmudes we saw with Chase, that makes ten out of eighteen watches broken. I say eighteen because we’ve obviously still got Zi-O, and Decade is literally right there, having reclaimed his watch.
We get Tsukasa repeating – or, rahter, we re-see Tsukasa saying that he’s going to destroy the world… Not right at this moment, though. They should get going.
It looks like Daiki takes off in a different direction from the other three.
––––
Amid the scenes of people running, there’s a ganma mook… and Revol, along with people colappsing, static crackling across their bodies. That’s the Ghost and Ex-Aid watches done for, then.
––––
Geiz and Woz run along a rooftop, but immediately become a book image – we’re going pretty much right into the recap. Now, of course, I don’t speak Japanese, but I can get the gist of what he’s saying. Basically, there’s copious fighting, the time-space continuum is falling apart, and the world is ending because of Swartz.
There are two pages left.
Woz is looking off into the middle distance as he says this.
––––
… I don’t think I really expected that they’d update the OP again, this late in the game, but…
That doesn’t change that it kind of hurts to see Heure and Ora still be there.
––––
At 9-to-5, Tsukasa is being interrogated- I mean, is getting everyone onto the same page.
Ehh… let’s see… Basically, he’s saying that more and more of the other Riders are being… I don’t know, more completely erased? Like, the watches held their stories in stasis, like bookmarks, and now that they’re breaking, parts of those stories are escaping out.
Tsukuyomi mentions the wall and the tower – namely, Fuuto Tower, as opposed to Yggdrasil, which kind of bothers me. See, even if this weren’t all one Rider world, Fuuto Tower would have no reason to not exist. It’s just part of the city. Yggdrasil, on the other hand, was built explicitly to deal with the encroaching Helheim Forest and you know what it’s not that big a deal, because the multipleworlds thing bugs me even more than that.
…Although, since they’re apparently sticking with the outdated “every rider is his own world” method, which has basically never been true, with the exception of Decades ARs, I suppose it could make sense to have both towers appear. Fuuto and Zawame are different cities, and most Rider seasons are set in Tokyo. That would account for the Skywall, as well – it’s from a different world. That’s the best way to show ‘things aren’t where they should be’ - to have landmarks from parallel worlds and different cities all appearing in the same place.
Tsukasa explains that Swartz has been using Sougo for his plans since he (Sougo) was a young boy. He pulled him to that ruined future, and gave him the time powers there. Then he set him on the road to gathering the powers of all the Kamen Riders – thus consolidating them into one complete form. Namely, Grand Zi-O.
…Okay, the multiverse thing still doesn’t pan out, here. If they were all in different worlds, then Sougo couldn’t have met them! They specifically said once, during Shinobi, that the Time Mazines can’t go to different timelines – which would presumably include different realities along with it. So, the people that Sougo met couldn’t have been riders anyway, regardless of his interference.
…Wait. Unless Swartz is actually pulling the assorted AR worlds together – by removing the ‘original’ or ‘main’ versions of the Riders, he removes the potential for there to be alternate versions of them. So the Shinji who worked at Atashi Journal, the Wataru who was a small child, high schooler Takumi, and so on… none of them can exist, because the Shinji from Ore Journal, the Wataru who was an adult, dry-cleaner Takumi, and so on were never riders.
I mean, I don’t know if that’s where they’re actually going with this, but it’s a good theory, right?
I can still try to make sense of this, right?!
ANYWAY.
Sougo’s despairing over the fact that all of his fights have been playing right into Swartz’s hand, and I think that Woz is trying to reassure him? I’m not sure – I can’t make out any of what he’s saying there.
Geiz asks what they can do now.
“I already told you. I’m going to destroy the world.” Tsukasa sets down the mug he’s been holding this entire time. “This world is already lost. However… there might still be a way to save it.” He looks pointedly at Sougo.
Sougo pauses, and says that he understands, bringing up the ‘choice’ that Swartz told him about.
“Tsukuyomi’s path, Sougo’s path, or the path to Oma Zi-O.”
…Ah, man, I can’t tell what they’re saying now. I’m not sure what Sougo’s implying that he’s planning, but Tsukasa seems at least somewhat satisfied. The fate of the world counts on this.
––––
There’s a breif shot of the watch stand. It’s empty.
––––
Sougo stands in front of the wall of clocks, looking at them. It’s eerily similar to a shot in the opening… hang on.
Okay, no, he’s in a different outfit. In the opening, when Sougo reaches towards the wall of clocks and spins it backwards, he’s in a mint green shirt and tan pants. Here, he’s in dark green with white-and-black pants. But also? He’s just a little bit taller.
In the opening, he’s dwarfed by the wall, with the counters and everything else seeming to be so much larger than they really are. He’s not the one who’s really in control. The situation is so much bigger than he is.
But now? He fits perfectly. He’s coming into his own, both as a rider and as a person. He’s not holding the image of an idea that is so much more than he is anymore.
Sougo smiles as he looks at the assortment of clocks, saying that it’s time to head out. The acoustic guitar version of Over Quartzer starts to play.
Tsukasa – the only other person present – tells him to wait. There’s… he says something about either how there’s a lot of people involved, or there’s a lot of people counting on this, or that are at risk. Maybe he should be the one to carry out this plan-
Sougo cuts him off. It has to be him. He tells Tsukasa to listen. He’s been ready for this since he put on the belt. Or… maybe… he’s always been destined for this moment.
Tsukasa looks… I don’t know what that is. Surprised? A dull form of surprise or shock, that he wasn’t sure if this young man would actually be willing to pull this off?
Sougo does seem to have one small regret though, in that he doesn’t get to tell his uncle. He picks up a note off the counter.
…Junichiro has terrible handwriting. Holy shit. Like, that’s damn near illegible – I’m lucky that it’s just enough that I can tell he signed it, via using the Rider Wiki having his name. Given the preview from the last episode, I’m assuming he went out to the store? Maybe?
––––
In a plaza, Tsukuyomi is attempting to help people escape the assorted mooks, shooting with her Faiz Phone X and instructing them to run. Woz, meanwhile, is sitting and watching, like an absolute tool. She’s pissed at him, and basically yells that he can help out any time now, thanks!
“Okay, okay, fine…” He gives the single most put upon sigh as he transforms into Ginga Finaly.
––––
Geiz is in a construction area, beating mooks off of people with a literal pipe, until Swartz shows up, apparently taunting him.
Cue Revive Fury versus Another Decade.
––––
Junichiro is screaming as he’s being approached by two Waste Yummys and the Bison Yummy.
Oh, judging by the box with the shops logo, he wasn’t out shopping, he was making a delivery.
“LOOK OUT!”
Zi-O blocks the Yummy, shoving them away from his uncle – notably without saying anything else to Junichiro.
Why is that notable?
Because Junichiro’s next line is “…Eh? Sougo-kun?”
Me, crossing my fingers as Zi-O prepares a finisher: please have known all along please have known all along or at least have caught on at some point please
Zi-O, having finished the monsters off with a Time Break – don’t think I didn’t see those little circles flying off of them as they exploded, Toei, I saw those cell medals there – storms up to his uncle. “Uncle, are you an idiot? Why did you go out at a time like this!?”
“Sougo- that was- just now-”
Zi-O drops his transformation… and Tokiwa Sougo bows low to his uncle, apologizing.
“Uncle… I’m sorry. I wanted to tell you… the truth is, I’m a Kamen Rider.” As he straightens back up, the piano version of Toki no Ouja starts to play. Junichiro is speechless as Sougo continues. “It’s a power that I’ve been using to fight, in order to protect everyone.”
Junichiro doesn’t seem to know what to say, just asking if this is how he’s being a king.
Sougo… supposes that’s true. But he has to go, so that he can save everyone. He just wanted to tell his uncle first.
Junichiros response? “I can’t do much, I just fix clocks. But you… You’ve got such a responisibility. Go. Have a safe trip.”
I don’t think Sougo expected him to react this well, he probably expected that his uncle would try to stop him, or protest in some way, at least. But really, clearly Sougo hasn’t been paying attention. Junichiro barely batted an eye at the Imajin asking him to fix the Denliner. This isn’t much of a stretch at all.
“I’m headed out.”
Junichiro kind of looks like he’s about to cry as Sougo runs off – tears of worry and of pride.
Sougo runs down the partly ruined street, as his Time Mazine zooms down in the ship mode.
––––
Sougo is in the cockpit of the Time Mazine, which is barely lit by dark blue light.
“One last trip through time…”
He looks at the display, set for 2068.
“Time-space system, activate!”
Time Mazine!
The machine zooms through the time tunnel, off into the future.
––––
Geiz, in a very ruined stairwell, fights a whole slew of mooks as Another Decade watches. He gets knocked down a few flights, and can’t get back up due to all the mooks who are basically on top of him.
Right up until Decade shows up to knock them away.
I can’t tell what they’re saying, but Geiz sounds really surprised that Decade’s still here.
They start fighting their way back upstairs together.
––––
Woz and Tsukuyomi are fighting against another set of mooks, in the same plaza they were in earlier.
Eventually, Woz calls down a bunch of mini planets to destroy the mooks and a Violence Dopant, because of course Ginga can do that. This might as well happen.
A bat-type Roidmude appears, advancing on Tsukuyomi – before Mashin Chaser flys in from nowhere, tackling it down, and quickly dispatching it with the Spider Viral Core’s Tune attack.
He then immediately falls to his knees, clutching at his head, before dropping his transformation. His hand shakes as he wonders why he just saved a human.
Woz, being far too flippant for my robo-lad’s current existential crisis, hops down from the steps. “It’s quite simple, Chase. According to this book, in the original timeline, you, too, were a Kamen Rider.”
“I’m… a Kamen Rider?” Chase looks at his shaking hands, and we get another flashback. (Toei no don’t break my heart like this…)
––––
Chase, in a warehouse, water pouring from a broken pipe. He holds up a shift bike, determined.
Kamen Rider Chaser stands under the pouring water after his first transformation.
––––
Chase roars in denial, slamming his Break Gunner to activate it.
Break up!
Mashin Chaser yells. He’s a GRIM REAPER, damn you!
(Toei, NO! Don’t break my heart like this!)
He brutally starts attacking Woz.
––––
2068, in front of the statue commemorating the first transformation of Tokiwa Sougo.
…Oh, now that’s interesting. The other times we’ve seen this particular statue, the riders weren’t posting at all – they were just standing, looking somewhat down. Right now, though?
Each and every one of them is doing their post-transformation pose.
Interesting.
So’s Sougo’s comment, which I think is ‘The most important person in the world…’
Sougo’s arrived at a point where there’s a smaller fight between the resistance and Oma Zi-O. It’s not that final stand we saw in the first episode, with the copious time mazines – the battlefield isn’t nearly large enough to be that one. But Geiz and Tsukuyomi are both there, both shooting at Oma Zi-O; her with the Faiz Phone X, and him with a machine gun.
People are being injured/killed left and right. Sougo goes to Tsukuyomi, who’s just been knocked down, asking if she’s alright.
He slips a blank ridewatch into her pocket.
I’m not sure what Geiz is yelling at them, but I’m pretty sure it’s something about ‘if you’re not going to fight, then get out of here!’
Tsukuyomi seems to feel the same, telling him to hurry up and run.
His expression stoic, Sougo tells them that they should hurry and get out. He’ll take care of this.
He pulls out his Ziku Driver, and the Zi-O Ridewatch as Tsukuyomi, Geiz, and the handful of resistance members look on.
“HENSHIN!”
As Kamen Rider Zi-O strides forward to face off against his future self, Geiz and Tsukuyomi are stunned. They know that armor and transformation, even though they’ve not yet met him properly in person.
––––
Oma Zi-O and Kamen Rider Zi-O stand across from each other, in that same valley where they’ve fought twice before. Or, where Sougo’s fought him before, and Oma may or may not have been on the current side yet. Time travel, yanno.
Oma says… er, basically that his younger self has no hope of defeating him.
Sougo… he says that that may be true. That this may really be his future.
Even so… he still has to try.
He pulls out his gun – his gun, not his sword – and fires, charging at Oma.
I’ve said before that Sougo almost never uses the gun form, and it’s true. All of his upgrades exclusively gave him a sword. The gun is only ever used for strategic purposes – Sougo doesn’t usually fight at a distance, he’s much more of a close range combatant. This only serves to make the fact that he pulls it out as the gun form all the more unusual.
Each shot is blocked by little mini forcefields that Oma raises for each individual blast, before Sougo is finally close enough to switch into the sword. Each strike is blocked, before Oma shoves him backward with waves of orange and black energy.
Sougo – still in base form Zi-O – lands, and as he pushes himself up…
“Let’s go.”
He pulls out the Trinity watch.

2019
Geiz Revive Fury and Decade versus mooks and Another Decade.
They’ve made it back out into the open, and quickly dispatch the assorted mooks, leaving the two riders and the single villain.
Swartz… ugh, I can’t make it out, but I think he’s saying something about how they can’t stop him, the world’s already finsihed.
Both Geiz and Tsukasa say that’s not true. There’s something about Tsukuyomi in there – either they’re saying that it’s not Swartz’s world to take, it’s hers… or that they’re choosing her. They’re not choosing this world, they’re choosing Tsukuyomi’s.
Or they’re saying nothing of the sort, because I just can’t pick out enough words that I recognize to be sure at all.
Regardless, Swartz screams in rage, and starts wailing on the both of them, before knocking them both down. Aiming for Geiz, he charges his copy of Tsukasa’s rider kick – card images and all. They’re eerily accurate, too. They’ve got the exact Decade logo on them, but they’re black and dark purple, instead of the lighter magenta that Tsukasa would have.
It doesn’t matter, anyway. As Another Decade passes through the last card-
A yellow beam of light shoots from the sky, and warps Geiz away.
––––
Tune! Chaser Cobra!
It doesn’t matter, anyway. As Mashin Chaser’s whip attack reaches Woz’s location-
A green beam of light shoots from the sky, and warps Woz away.
Growling, he turns to Tsukuyomi.
––––
Trinity time!
Sougo, in the Trinity Cockpit, smiles a little as Geiz and Woz appear. “Oh, good, it worked.”
I don’t think they were sure it would.
Woz, appearing as an overlay on his shoulder, says that they’ve made it to 2068.
Geiz, doing likewise, says something about Oma Zi-O.
Sougo, no overlay in sight, says that in any case, it’s time to fight.
Trinity charges at Oma Zi-O, wielding Zi-O II’s sword.
––––
2019
Kamen Rider Decade dusts off his hands as he stands up. Time for Decade Versus Decade.
Swartz almost laughs at that. You think he’s only got Decade’s powers?
He freezes Tsukasa in time. His own power is even stronger. As he advances on the frozen Tsukasa, he’s frozen, himself.
Kamen Rider Diend strolls up, one hand outstretched. “Oh, you mean the power you gave little ol’ me?”
Decade’s fight music starts to play as Daiki straight up whacks Another Decade with his gun, breaking both magenta men out of their paused states.
As they stand next to each other, Tsukasa has to be rolling his eyes under that helmet. “Took you long enough.”
“Let’s go, Tsukasa.”
Kamen Riders Decade and Diend – Kadoya Tsukasa and Kaitou Daiki – attack Another Decade in unison.
––––
2068
KING GIRI GIRI SLASH!
Trinity slams his slash attack down on Oma, but said overlord just pushes the energy to the side. They rush him, bringing the sword itself down on him, and when he blocks it with his crossed arms, a ring of dustclouds explode around the combatants.
Trinity forces the sword down, before abruptly yanking if off of where he’d been pressing it against Oma, using the loss of that resistance to throw Oma Zi-O off balance, and pointing the tip of the sword at his torso. Under the helmet, Sougo at minimum is grinning.
Trinity Time Break-Burst-Explosion!
A beam of attack power pushes out from the sword, blasting Oma Zi-O back into the cliffside, where he leaves a massive impact crater before falling to the ground.
He asks where his younger self found this sort of power.
Sougo’s answer? It’s not his power. It’s his friends power.
In the cockpit, we see the three standing side by side, their sections of the faceplate behind them, but they aren’t in a circle around the clock, or in divided screens. They’re all on one visual plane.
According to Sougo, and my very limited understanding of what’s being said, because I don’t recognize most of this… there’s more than one path to take. He’s not taking the one that leads to Oma Zi-O. He’s taking the one that he’ll make with his friends.
Oma Zi-O seems to find that interesting, and says that Sougo’s… what, fighting for his friends sake?
And I’m not sure what just happened, but Geiz doesn’t know what Oma’s talking about either, and Woz tells Sougo to be careful…
Right before the Trinity transformation ends, leaving only Sougo standing in front of Oma Zi-O.
Just Sougo, without any armor.
He’s not even wearing his belt.
He also doesn’t look surprised, or concerned. Just angry.
––––
2019
Woz reappears right where he left from, in his civilian attire, and looking confused. Tsukuyomi is nowhere to be seen.
––––
Geiz appears right where he left from, in his civilian attire, and looking both confused and frustrated. Decade and Diend are still fighting Another Decade, and getting kicked around a fair bit, before Swartz scoffs, and says that Tsukuyomi is his to… uh, I think kill is the word here.
He dimension-walls himself out of there, and Geiz curses.
––––
2068
Tokiwa Sougo stands across the field from Oma Zi-O.
“Now what? You’ve sent your friends away, and what for?”
There’s no background music, just the sound of the wind.
Sougo stays calm. “That’s because I’m not here to fight you. But… I’m still going to defeat you.” He starts to walk forward. “Tell me, what is the power of Oma Zi-O?”
Oma Zi-O looks a bit to the side. “It’s the power to destroy space and time.” The orchestral version of Toki no Ouja starts playing. I can’t quite make out the next part of Oma’s answer, unfortunately. Something about Swartz’s granting him time powers, and his own powers over space, and those combining. I think.
Sougo responds that the two of them – himself and Oma – aren’t the same.
Oma… agrees. I think, and says that he looks forward to seeing the world Sougo will make, before sending him back in time.
A muscle twitched in Sougo’s otherwise expressionless face – the ghost of a smirk trying to make it’s way through.
Oma Zi-O looks up, a note of resignation in his voice. “That’s it, then.” He makes a small noise, almost like a laugh… and says something about… I think it’s that ‘this is what he can do to help.’
He raises one hand to the sky, firing motes of golden light out.
––––
As the other members of the resistance continue retreating, Geiz and Tsukuyomi stop. I’m not sure what they’re saying, but it’s something about how that guy was strange, that he must have had some sort of plan.
Motes of golden light pass over them, and a pink light comes from Tsukuyomi’s pocket, seeming to shock her physically to make sure she notices.
The ridewatch Sougo had slipped her glows white, but quickly fades… and it’s still blank.
… the one that kept making its way to Sougo in episode one stayed blank for a long time, too, right up until he showed the resolve to fight.
––––
2019
Tsukuyomi reaches a different plaza, still running from Mashin Chaser. She begs him to stop, she knows he has a human heart!
He just yells that he doesn’t have a heart, he’s a Roidmude- but he freezes up. He can’t move. It’s not the time powers in action – it’s that he’s seized up. Like one part of his programming is stopping him from moving, from lowering his arm and pressing the trigger. There’s a very deliberate shot of his hand holding the break gunner, finger raised.
Swartz – as Another Decade – comes up. “That’s enough. She’s mine… Finally, little sister…” He goes to attack her, but-
Chase stops him, rushing up and grabbing his arm, shoving him back. He may not be human, may not have a human heart, but. But the human heart is the most beautiful thing there is!
He goes on the offensive – against Swartz.
But Chase tends to get sloppy when he fights with his emotions running high. It’s simple enough for Swartz to redirect his straight charge with a pair of dimension walls, placing Chase behind him and charge-kicking the Roidmude in the back, sending him staggering. I can’t tell what Swartz says, but it’s definitely an insult to Chase – as a Kamen Rider.
Chase staggers backward, his transformation breaking. He starts to fall to the ground, but Geiz catches him…
(Toei… no… don’t… don’t break my heart like this…)
Purple arcs of electricity cross Chase’s body as Geiz holds him.
“You… were right. I really am… a Kamen Rider…”
Geiz’s face is partly hidden in his collar. “You’re more than that – you’re a friend.”
Geiz – who only met Chase today, who probably only knew him as a hero from what Gou may or may not have said during Over Quartzer, and from his actions right now – is telling Chase that they’re friends.
“That’s… nice. That even now… I’ve made another human friend…”
(Toei. No. Don’t. Don’t break my heart like this.)
Chase glows a light purple, and dissolves into motes of purple light, leaving his core floating, before it, too, dissolves.
(I, a Drive fangirl, and particularly a Chase fangirl, am going to have to bury my face in a pillow when I’m done here.)
Geiz can’t talk. He’s too stunned by what just happened – he’s trying not to cry, I think.
Swartz advances on Tsukuyomi. Now that that little distraction’s over with, it’s time for her to die.
She backs up, terrified. Time feels like it slows down. Not, like, the type in this show where it actually does, just the muted, echoing effect of a single moment.
“TSUKUYOMI!” Sougo runs towards the scene. “THE WATCH!”
“Eh?”
“THE ONE I GAVE YOU!”
Confused, she reaches into her pocket, and pulls out a blank ridewatch – that very shortly isn’t blank anymore.
It’s white, with a mask, and the year ‘2068’ written on it.
Woz comes in from the other side, still at a distance. “Go! Tsukuyomi!” He throws her something.
Tsukuyomi catches a Ziku Driver.
Sougo nods, certain. Geiz looks confused as all get out. Woz looks like he’s hoping this will actually work.
She puts on the belt, and raises the watch, turning it.
“Tsukuyomi!”
Techno standby music plays as she places the watch in the driver, and spins it.
“Henshin!”
A gorgeous transformation sequence later…
Clad in a black undersuit, with white armor and gold accents, with a cresent moon-shaped visor, and a gold-trimmed cape and side-skirt…
Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi makes her appearance.
––––
The closing screen is Geiz Revive at the bottom, Trinity at the top…
And Tsukuyomi in the center.
––––
The preview for the final episode… and it’s a battle theme playing, not Over Quartzer.
Grand Zi-O versus Another Decade.
A brief flash of Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi.
A splitscreen shot. Kamen Riders Grand Zi-O, Double CycloneJokerXtreme, Wizard Infinity Form, OOO Tajador, and Gaim Pineapple Arms are on the top.
On the bottom… okay, so, I have no idea who most of these villains are. There’s Gamedeus in the center, and Evolt to the far end, but the others? Not a clue.
Over top of that, and the two groups starting to fight, we hear Sougo practically growling, saying ‘I have the power of all the Riders.’
Flashes of Tsukuyomi and Woz, as themselves, looking concerned. At this point, they add in a subtitle disclaimer saying that Zi-O is fiction. (Thank you, Google translate for my phone, which allows me to hold it up to a screen and get an idea of what’s written.)
A quick shot of Oma Zi-O on his throne, his face obscured – and text implying that we’re going to get to see his face!
Someone – either Oma Zi-O or Swartz, because they sound really similar when Swartz is Another Decade – saying something about… I don’t know, that this is his battle? I think?
But that’s played over the previous two sequences, and a sequence of Sougo, openly weeping, holding a very injured Geiz, who’s going limp.
Then, Sougo standing, furious… and then him activating the belt that Oma Zi-O wears.
In a defeated voice, “I’ll become Oma Zi-O…” and then, in that same growl as earlier, “HENSHIN.”
The final shots are two angles of Oma Zi-O. In armor. And in the present day.

Traveling to Vancouver Island
Travelling from the lower mainland of BC towards the magnificent Vancouver Island, travellers have a lot of choices on the way to get there, depending of course on where they wish to be after they find the area. I have sailed on BC Ferries from Tsawassan Terminal to Swartz Bay, while i wanted to look at the Capital of Victoria and a week ago, I sailed from Horseshoe Bay up to Duke Time Nanaimo as that's my chosen spot for that particular trip. On both occasions I've got to point out that I found the Ferries to be great value. They all are very comfortable, well equipped and basically have something for everybody to give time during the two hour trip. For those who would like to get there faster or maybe can be a bit more affluent, you can choose from a selection of small float planes which fly continually backwards and forwards to various destinations about the Island. For a bit more money, you may also elect to fly by helicopter if that's the thing that makes you tick. For me, the very thought of a quick sea voyage alone offers a thrill and naturally, some subdued thoughts of the famous Titanic on its fateful maiden voyage. Seriously, we have advanced dramatically in technology since days gone by and BC Ferries can be a sound demonstration of modern maritime engineering. En-route to the Island by ferry, there are many sights to view and several pictures worth taking together with your photographic camera. To the lucky travellers, it's apparently a consistent occurrence to view a faculty of Whales as they travel down relating to the Gulf Islands as well as the Georgia Straight en route to faraway places. Also, according to what time you determine to travel, you are able to savour the chance to see some of the most marvellous and amazing sunsets you are likely to find anywhere. Normally, I try to time my return trip returning to the mainland to coincide together with the sunset serious amounts of using this method, I could capture a whole new array of images and endless shades of colour with my camera.

If you are in no great rush to go to Vancouver Island, then for my buck the ferries are extremely ideal. From the minute to arrive at what ever Terminal you determine to leave, they're adequately organized and almost regimental in everything they actually do to produce your vacation more enjoyable. Their employees extremely helpful and friendly and they can make suggestions and your car close to for the ship, showing you would park and the way to stay on course back there later. Once you leave your motor vehicle and go into the stairway, a fresh world of exploration awaits you through the various levels from bow to stern. They have got excellent snack areas and a great restaurant too, so that you can use a full breakfast or perhaps simply a cup of freshly made coffee to start out for your voyage. Amidships there is also a section of little cubicles where one can instantly connect to the web and do some business on your laptop. There is really a play room for kids as well as a games room to the older kids and all in all of the, the entire ship is well presented, clean and comfortable wherever you go. Unlike the majority of ship We've sail on, the ferries did not display the usual level of seagulls hovering over her as she departed the terminal. Will be the BC seagulls don't get to view most of that yummy food about the ships and for that reason, they have a tendency back off. A minimum of they did around the times I have sailed to the Island. If you have never visited Vancouver Island, then anywhere you choose to disembark the ship, you will instantly spot the quality of air, the luxurious vegetation which abounds everywhere and also the friendliness and incredibly relaxed design of those who live there. The region has all you could ever want in a destination no matter which direction you could possibly drive, the scenery just continued to get better all the time. Ocean and rugged mountain views. Smaller Islands speckled endlessly on serene blue waters. Eagles soaring above and very tame deer roaming everywhere you go you go. No doubt it is an excellent place as well as in my humble opinion, it could very well be a bit piece of heaven in the world. To get more information about port renfrew see this internet page.

Coxsackievirus A21 Viral Proteins Quantified with Capillary Western and Peptides
https://www.lifetein.com/blog/coxsackievirus-a21-viral-proteins-quantified-with-capillary-western-and-peptides/ Oncolytic viruses are a novel type of virus that specifically targets and eliminates tumor cells, and have been an emerging immunotherapy agent. One such is Coxsackievirus A21 (CVA21), which has been demonstrating a healthy safety profile as well as desired targeting of the cancerous cells. While producing drugs that can properly utilize this virus, there rises a need to characterize the ratio of total particles to empty ones, thus researchers developed a method to see Coxsackievirus A21 viral proteins quantified with capillary Western and peptides made up of the components of the capsid proteins. CVA21 characterized with capillary Western and capsid peptides LifeTein provided the group with the capsid peptides, VP1, VP2, VP3, and VP4, as well as the antibodies necessary for the testing. Results utilizing these peptides and antibodies included total particle concentration, empty particle concentration, as well as the empty to full ratio. Being able to characterize this kind of information in this downstream process will prove to be immensely valuable in future studies. The Simple Western method displayed by the researchers proved itself to be an invaluable tool for optimizing decisions for these types of oncolytic virus studies. Consistency in these tests will surely lead to massive amounts of time being saved in future drug development and assessments. LifeTein will always be ready to lend a hand to any work needing peptides or antibodies to further their research in the broad field of drug application. Paul F. Gillespie, Richard R.
