Whenever someone says that Epic's lyrics are too simple or direct I just know they don't think about the medium the story is being told on. Yes, Epic is a musical... Who never had a show. The lyrics are simple and direct because you're supposed to understand 90% of what's happening with just the songs. There's no actors playing in front of you, there's no external narration to add precision, no stage to play it and no scripts to make a podcast out of it. And when you want to retell something as complex visually as the Oddysey... Well you're gonna have to be direct about it.
The direct lyrics aren't a weakness: they're a direct result of the limitations of the medium used for the story being told.
#epic the musical#Epic#Like I though that was obvious?#The medium is a greater constraints that you may think it is#And I think that our captain is doing a great job to add some symbolisme with the music (which is clearly his forte)#Anyway that was me defending epic because I love it#But also I'm just saying this because that's so obvious why has no one said that before

Different Types of Painting That Will Ignite Your Imagination
Painting is not just a way to put colors on a canvas; it’s a form of expression that comes in many styles and techniques. When exploring the *different types of painting*, you discover various materials, methods, and genres, all of which have their unique charm. Whether you are a budding artist or a seasoned professional, understanding these diverse painting styles can deepen your appreciation of art and improve your skills.
Different Types of Painting
1. Oil Painting
Oil painting is one of the oldest techniques and continues to be beloved by many artists today. This method involves pigment mixed with oil, allowing for rich colors and blending capabilities. The slow drying time gives artists greater flexibility. Classic pieces like the works of Van Gogh and Rembrandt exemplify the beauty of oil painting.
2. Watercolor Painting
Watercolor painting is known for its transparency and fluidity. It uses water-soluble pigments, which allow for a light and airy feel to artworks. Watercolors dry quickly, and the layering of washes can create stunning depth. It’s a popular choice for landscape paintings and illustrations.
3. Acrylic Painting
Acrylics are versatile and quick-drying paints that can mimic the properties of both oil and watercolor. They can be diluted with water for watercolor effects or used thickly to achieve an impasto style. The vast range of colors and mediums available makes acrylic painting a favorite among contemporary artists.
4. Gouache Painting
Gouache combines the characteristics of watercolor and acrylics. It is opaque, allowing artists to layer colors without losing brightness. Gouache is often used for illustrations and design work due to its vibrant color and matte finish.
5. Pastel Painting
Pastel painting utilizes sticks of pure pigment for vibrant, soft colors. This technique allows for both painting and drawing techniques, giving a unique texture to artworks. Pastels can be used wet or dry, resulting in distinct effects.
6. Encaustic Painting
Bringing a historical flair to the world of paint, encaustic painting uses heated beeswax mixed with colored pigments. This ancient technique gives depth and richness to art through layering and scraping. Artists often use it to create texture and a luminous finish.
7. Spray Painting
Spray painting, often associated with street art, offers a bold and modern approach to art-making. Using aerosol paints, artists can create vibrant murals and intricate stencils. It allows for a fluid application and quick coverage, ideal for large projects.
8. Digital Painting
In today’s tech-savvy world, digital painting has taken center stage. Utilizing software and digital tools, artists leverage techniques akin to traditional painting styles. Digital landscapes, character designs, and illustrations showcase the growth of this medium.
9. Mixed Media Painting
Mixed media painting incorporates various materials and techniques in one artwork. It can include combinations of painting, collage, drawing, and even 3D elements. This innovative approach encourages artists to explore their creativity without limits.
Choosing the Right Type of Painting for You
When selecting a painting type, consider your interests, skill level, and available materials. Here are a few tips for making your choice:
Experiment : Try out different mediums. Attend workshops or art classes that focus on various painting techniques.
Determine Your Style : Think about what resonates with you visually. Do you prefer the vibrancy of acrylics or the subtlety of watercolors?
Consider the Project : Some techniques are better suited for specific projects. For example, spray painting might be ideal for larger murals, while watercolors may be perfect for landscape art.
Budget Constraints : Assess the cost of materials. While oil paints can be pricey, there are budget-friendly options for acrylics and watercolors.
After experimenting, you may find a specific style that you feel passionate about.
Conclusion
Understanding the *different types of painting* is essential for anyone interested in exploring their artistic potential. Each painting style offers unique characteristics and possibilities that can enhance your creative journey. Remember to have fun experimenting with different mediums and techniques. Embrace the art of painting and discover what resonates with you most! Share your favorite type of painting in the comments below and engage with fellow art enthusiasts.

I have a question for the sociology/policy research side of Tumblr.
Has anyone attempted to end this modern rise of Nazism by quantifying the behaviors Trump supporters are eager to demonstrate every day, as a way of encouraging private penalties?
In particular, quantifying these factors:
Overwhelmingly, Trump supporters are willing to tell big lies, regardless of the damage, if they perceive personal gain from doing so. Their ongoing support for a coup demonstrates how strongly they will double down when caught in a lie.
With such strong reliance on demonstrably false news--especially around the pandemic, race, sexual orientation, and gender--as a group, their critical thinking skills are less developed and more prone to reaching dangerously false conclusions. And,
Their behavior, especially those who participated in the January 6th terrorist attack or those who continue to defend it, demonstrates that their group is heavily defined by having no ethical values at all.
By quantifying how frequently and severely they approve of lying for personal gain against the greater good; how faulty and mutually harmful their critical thinking abilities are; and how likely they are to engage in unethical behavior, we could objectively demonstrate that hiring Nazis poses inherent liability in the day to day operations of any company. How?
Someone willing to lie at others' expense can damage a company's reputation. If customers can't trust them, that's likely to translate into lost sales. Lies that impact colleagues can have an effect on morale and turnover. Together, this means lost income and higher training and recruiting costs.
Someone who is easily and continuously fooled by false news, conspiracy theories, and deadly scams (Ivermectin to treat Covid is an obvious one) is inherently incapable of the kind of critical thought required by any roles offering autonomy. They're unable to come to reasonable conclusions; this means they should be more likely to make errors in day to day operations, and more likely to make serious errors because of their inability to analyze the information coming in to them. Especially if they're in a decision making position, this means the company is likely losing money to fix mistakes; it's likely losing out on sales in the medium term for decisions made on faulty analysis. And they're likely experiencing higher turnover among those who don't want to work with an incompetent manager or colleague.
Unethical behavior poses serious legal liability for any corporation. If the company acts in a heavily regulated space, there could be existential consequences for the company. In some cases, that could mean liability for injuries and deaths. Not just for customers! Someone who would lie for personal gain and have no ethical constraints is likely to put their colleagues at risk as well. For example, their hostility to basic safety measures for covid demonstrates that they may ignore workplace safety requirements, or actively sabotage them as a cost-saving measure they can spin as a personal accomplishment for a bonus or promotion. This has monetary and reputation consequences for any company.
Supporting Nazism should hurt. Being able to prove that companies are objectively disadvantaging themselves by hiring Trump supporters could help discourage their spread as government inaction continues to result in greater damage.
If nothing else, opening these jobs up for decent Americans instead of Trump supporters is a positive in itself. Either way, if the government won't remove their influence from society, this is probably the best way to encourage it ourselves.

Theories of Entrepreneurship
Want to learn more about Entrepreneurship? Interested? Check this blog cause we made it much easier to understand Entrepreneurship!
But before we proceed. Make sure to like, comment, and share with your friends! Also, don’t forget to follow for more Entrepreneurship studies! Let’s begin!
These are some Theories of Entrepreneurship that we’ve hand-picked to teach you so that you have an idea about Theories of Entrepreneurship! Let’s start with…
Innovation Theory
The Innovation Theory by Joseph Schumpeter, an Austrian economist & political scientist, believed that an entrepreneur could earn economic profits by introducing successful innovations. To gain more information, watch this video down below!
youtube
Innovation theory of profit posits that the main function of an entrepreneur is to introduce innovations and the profit in the form of reward is given for his performance. According to Schumpeter, innovation refers to any new policy that an entrepreneur undertakes to reduce the overall cost of production or increase the demand for his products.
Thus, innovation can be classified into two categories; The first category includes all those activities which reduce the overall cost of production such as the introduction of a new method or technique of production, the introduction of new machinery, innovative methods of organizing the industry, etc.
The second category of innovation includes all such activities which increase the demand for a product. Such as the introduction of a new commodity or new quality goods, the emergence or opening of a new market, finding new sources of raw material, a new variety, or a design of the product, etc.
The innovation theory of profit posits that the entrepreneur gains profit if his innovation is successful either in reducing the overall cost of production or increasing the demand for his product. Often, the profits earned are for a shorter duration as the competitors imitate the innovation, thereby ceasing the innovation to be new or novice. Earlier, the entrepreneur was enjoying a monopoly position in the market as innovation was confined to himself and was earning larger profits. But after some time, with the others imitating the innovation, the profits started disappearing.
An entrepreneur can earn larger profits for a longer duration if the law allows him to patent his innovation. Such as a design of a product is patented to discourage others to imitate it. Over the time, the supply of factors remaining the same, the factor prices tend to rise because of which the cost of production also increases. On the other hand, with the firms adopting innovations the supply of goods and services increases and their prices fall. Thus, on one hand the output per unit cost increases while on the other hand the per unit revenue decreases.
There is a point of time when the difference between the costs and receipts gets disappear. Thus, the profit more than the normal profit disappears. This innovation process continues, and the profits continue to appear or disappear.
Keynesian Theory
Keynesian economics by John Maynard Keynes, a British economist, is a macroeconomic economic theory of total spending in the economy and its effects on output, employment, and inflation. ... Based on his theory, Keynes advocated for increased government expenditures and lower taxes to stimulate demand and pull the global economy out of the depression.
For me, the Keynesian cross theory is a graph of expenditure and output level also a graph of different levels of equilibrium aggregate expenditure at different interest rate levels.
Since the investment spending is a function of interest rate when there is a change in interest rate which in turn results in a change in total output corresponding to the new equilibrium. Keynesian theorists argue that economies do not stabilize themselves very quickly and require active intervention that boosts short-term demand in the economy.
X-efficiency theory of entrepreneurship
What is the x-efficiency theory of entrepreneurship?
Harvey Leibenstein, the American economist, developed the X-efficiency theory in the 1960s. He views entrepreneurs as gap-fillers and input complementors. Gaps (X-inefficiency) emerge when there are inefficiencies in markets, such as when incumbents do not utilize their resources efficiently (Leibenstein, 1966;1978) because of political, normative, cognitive, and structural factors.
A classic example is a startup without a union that enters a market where all the incumbents have strong unions. The cost advantage of disorganized labor may help firms with low-cost business models to thrive at the bottom of the market at margins that are uneconomical for incumbent firms to pursue within the target ranges given to them by their shareholders.
If the maximum possible productive use of a resource is greater than the actual use by incumbents, an arbitrage opportunity emerges that an entrepreneur can exploit for profit. Entrepreneurs can also improve inputs by putting to use new resources, thus making existing products more efficient.
Incumbents can ignore, waste, or misuse resources due to inertia, incompetence, or ignorance. Thus, the entrepreneur is seen as correcting market inefficiencies by improving the information flow in a market.
X-efficiency theory seems to align well with Kirzner's view of entrepreneurship as alertness to opportunities caused by the lack of insight of incumbents.
Leibenstein’s thoughts focus mainly on two things: suggesting a theory of entrepreneurial economics and using this theory to explain the value of entrepreneurship within the economy. Rather than taking sides with a certain type of entrepreneurial activity, Leibenstein considers two sides, what he calls routine entrepreneurship (well-defined markets) and N-entrepreneurship (Schumpeterian-like). He introduces ways and possibilities of how both can exist within the economy, illustrating characteristics of the entrepreneur such as risk bearer, taking ultimate responsibility, gap-filler, input-completer, and the ability to evaluate economic opportunities.
Leibenstein’s procedure to both theories rests upon inputs and outputs of entrepreneurship (an example of the input would be a motivational factor) and the fact that entrepreneurship is a resource, a scarce one to be specific. Since his theory describes entrepreneurship as a resource, Leibenstein implies that entrepreneurship has value in the economy in the sense that the creation and fruition of tools and technology expand the economy and its features. But he states that because entrepreneurship is not predictable, controllable, or undetermined, it becomes scarce because the “up-and-coming” entrepreneurs have a lack of input-completing capacities. Thus, in some cases a well-defined market is impossible and that is his reason for considering both routine and N-entrepreneurship.
Leibenstein’s work is very credible in the sense that it outlines what an entrepreneur should do to be successful, and why we need entrepreneurship to exist. This passage would be helpful to a relatively new entrepreneur because Leibenstein is merely giving advice on how to be an input-completer and gap-filler, which he says makes for a successful entrepreneur.
Kirzner’s Learning-Alertness Theory
The basic concept in Kirzner's theory of entrepreneurship is alertness. ... The role of entrepreneurs lies in their alertness to hitherto unnoticed opportunities. Through their alertness, entrepreneurs can discover and exploit situations in which they can sell for high prices that which they can buy for low prices.
youtube
The book Competition and Entrepreneurship by Israel Kirzner, published in 1973, was a watershed moment in the revival of Austrian economics. While prices are the medium through which knowledge spreads in an economy, entrepreneurial activity–people recognizing previously unimagined opportunities to combine inputs into more valuable outputs–is the cause of that spread, according to Kirzner. Entrepreneurship is a discovery procedure, not a maximization exercise under given constraints. Markets are competitive, according to Kirzner, when the discovery procedure is unconstrained, rather than when markets match the assumed conditions of the textbook "perfect competition" model.
Alfred Marshall Theory
This theory was created by Alfred Marshall who was an English Economist. Marshall made a book called Principles of Economics published in 1890. So, if you what more information, watch this video down below!
youtube
Modern research on the economics of education began in the 1950s with research by T. W. Schultz, Jacob Mincer, Sherwin Rosen and some others, although there are earlier precedents, including analyses by Adam Smith, Alfred Marshall, and Milton Friedman. This new literature treats education as an investment that has both costs and returns. The returns analyzed are principally the increase in earnings because of greater amounts of schooling. The costs included tuition, fees, and other direct expenses from schooling, and the earnings foregone by being in school rather than at work. Higher education has boomed throughout the world during the past three decades in much poorer and in all rich nations. An important part of the explanation for this development is that new technologies, such as computers and the Internet, increased the demand for persons with college education because college graduates more easily utilize and adapt to these technologies. Other important developments explaining the greater incentives to get a higher education are the shift to high-skilled services, such as the education and health sectors, and away from manufacturing and increased globalization that helped spread the demand for these new technologies throughout the world.
And that's it! Thank you so much for reading until the end. Don't forget to like, comment on some suggestions, or even your learnings from this blog post. Also, share it with your friends! Hope you learn something! Stay tuned for more Entrepreneurship lessons!

35 years after the event that reshaped the DC Comics multiverse, its relevance has continued to inspire across mediums, into the primetime series and now back again, as The CW event inspires Marv Wolfman to contribute two more acts to the tale!
Legendary comic book scribe Marv Wolfman could hardly have imagined 35 years later how relevant and influential his and George Pérez’s seminal work 1985’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” would be crossing all forms of media and continuing to inspire more stories into the new millennium. The original 12-issue maxi-series redefined 50 years of DC comics continuity and would inspire several sequels and similar events, leading up to a primetime adaptation and the ultimate crossover this past season on The CW.
Over a series of five primetime hours, the DCTV expanded universe, interconnected over 30 years of DC live-action culminating in the redefining of the “Arrowverse” with an Earth-Prime world that inhabits the heroes of The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman and Black Lightning as the show that started it all Arrow signed-off the air after 8-seasons, inspiring a new generation, passing the bow and arrow to a deserving new Green Arrow (more on that story soon — we hope).
If you thought the story was over with the epic final battle against the Anti-Monitor in the final hour of the “Crisis” crossover, that revealed the fate of Oliver Queen’s and his ultimate sacrifice which “reboots” the DCTV expanded universe, promising a whole new multiverse is alive and well, think again! In the just-released Crisis on Infinite Earths: Paragons Rising The Deluxe Edition hardback, “Arrowverse” executive producer Marc Guggenheim (and the television “Crisis” architect) teamed up with Wolfman to add two new chapters to the epic story.
Paragons Rising
Given the budget of constraints of television, there were some stories that had to be “left on the cutting room floor” in order to keep the 5-part “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover moving at a breakneck pace, without overtaxing the talent (not to mention the audience). There’s a mention in the story of The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) having enlisted fan favorite Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) to help him identify the “paragons” — heroes among them that had the additionally incalculable responsibility of “restarting” the multiverse.
That story is revealed in the comic book version by Guggenheim and Wolfman, and details Felicity’s journey through the multiverse with the help of Earth-X’s The Ray and Arrow supporting cast member Nyssa Al Ghul, to seek out the identities of the paragons; a task she is set upon by The Monitor. It’s during the course of this journey, that Felicity is told of Oliver’s sacrifice as the first ant-matter wave strikes Earth-38, the home of Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) as detailed in Part One of “Crisis”. She also discovers that Oliver’s fate is not sealed and has a greater purpose.
The cover to the Deluxe Edition features the characters from the TV series.
Pariah plays a part in the story as well, and follows very close to his comic book counterpart.
Production art from the TV series is also featured in the hardback edition.
Guggenheim and Wolfman perfectly fill in some of the outside arcs that fans might have wanted to see play out, but with television being television, it is only fitting that the pair give this additional story its just deserves in a comic book form after all “Crisis” started as a comic book and has endured a 35-year legacy that is still firing the imagination. There’s an additional story in the book, with some wonderful production art from the television event, along with notes from the writers and creatives.
Flash Forward
Meanwhile, the DC multiverse is facing a new “crisis”, one that only the fastest man alive can save it from, although this time it’s Barry Allen’s protege, Wally West that is carrying the burden. After the original Silver Age hero tempted fate and caused a “FlashPoint” in time, the subsequent interference from an atomic god watching as the events unfurled, left the continuity irrevocably damaged — the eventual “Rebirth” and return of Wally West, one of the missing figures in the altered timeline, has lead to the displaced hero’s attempt to correct the fractured history.
In the Flash Forward mini-series, out and available now in a complete volume edition, the storyline follows Wally West as he searches for answers, only to discover that on the flip-side of it all, the Dark Multiverse is the real threat that is keeping him from finding his missing kids and tearing at the balance between the Light and Dark multiverses. Written by Scott Lobdell with art by comic’s favorite Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund the galactic adventure is a trip through the Dark Multiverse and answers that Wally may never have seen coming.
The Flash is now truly the master of all he surveys and discovers the Multiverse is fractured and only he can repair it!
In order to save everything Wally West, The Flash, must become something else entirely, inheriting one of the universe’s most prized articles of power, The Flash now sits on the Mobius Chair, once the seat of power for the New God, Metron (and at another time under the service of the Anti-Monitor, himself) and the very tangled fabric of the multiverse is at his fingertips. Using the power of the Mobius Chair, Wally is able to decipher that the Dark Universe in which he has “pocketed” his children was manifested from his own fears.
In order to set things right, he must face those fears, but it comes at a great cost! The Mobius Chair and its power along with The Flash himself are now one, and the multiverse and all its secrets are open to them…that is when he makes the ultimate realization: the timeline is maddeningly fractured! Between the many infinite crises it faced, the “FlashPoint” event, the ticking down to “Doomsday”, it’s all out of alignment. Historical events have repeated, unaware of their place in a long legacy; the Golden Age of heroes disconnected from history.
In the “Generation Zero: Gods Among Us” epilogue, printed for the first time in this collected edition, Wally attempts to correct the timeline and set things right; it takes him some effort with his new cosmic-level abilities he’s able to assert some structure. The original Teen Titans reform and years later, a new generation inspired by them follows in their footsteps; just like the Justice Society inspired the rise of the Justice League, and Wonder Woman boldly battled for truth and justice along with both legacies, but as the timeline comes close to the present…
The Flash discovers, there is someone or something determined to cause all manner of chaos and prevent any of Earth’s heroes from surviving the coming of a new crisis. This new threat was born in the shadows of the Dark Multiverse and has dug itself deeply like cancer growing, killing everything in its line of sight. In order to save the multiverse, The Flash must face the corruption at the center of it allif he’s to save the next generation of heroes, he must stop The Batman Who Laughs from destroying everything!
Crisis on Infinite Earths: Paragons Rising | The Deluxe Edition written by Marv Wolfman and Marc Guggenheim with art by Tom Derenick and Tom Grummett is available now in a hardcover edition for $17.99 from DC Comics.
Flash Forward | written by Scott Lobdell with art by Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund is available now in a paperback edition for $17.99 from DC Comics.
iReview | CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS: Paragons Rising 35 years after the event that reshaped the DC Comics multiverse, its relevance has continued to inspire across mediums, into the primetime series and now back again, as The CW event inspires Marv Wolfman to contribute two more acts to the tale!

Comm 10: Assignment 2
A. What are the differences between primary oral cultures and literary cultures? How are they related with each other?
Primary oral cultures are cultures that involve talking and listening. There is no knowledge of writing meaning, the information heard was collected in the minds of the people. The absence of writing made it difficult to preserve the information thus, paving the emergence of literary culture, which in turn employs the manner of reading and writing. However, in literary, there is no involvement of the bodies unlike oral cultures; just pure text and interpretation, but the edge is that, it’s easier to grab the information since everything is written. Regardless of the differences, they’re important because both contribute to the effectiveness of our communication in the present time as well as to the next generations.
B. What does Walter Ong mean by the intersubjectivity of communication? How does this differentiate communication from media?
Intersubjectivity happens when individuals agree on a given set of meanings. In short, it can also be synonymous to the word “agreement.” To achieve an effective communication, an understanding between the sender and receiver and an exchange of roles happens as the sender becomes the receiver expecting for a respond. However, in media, there is only a one-way process allowing the sender to send the information, having to receive no feedback at all. A good example would be reading a newspaper. We may have different stands on the issues yet, we cannot oppose as to what the editor says. Hence, there is no intersubjectivity between the sender and the receiver.
C. How does the ‘media’ model of communication show chirographic (i.e. writing) conditioning?
The media model of communication shows chirographic conditioning in such a way that written text conveys information, specifically a one-way informational process, in which there is no actual receiver. When information is changed from speech to written medium, chirographic conditioning occurs. It implies that whatever the sender broadcasts, none of the receivers can respond since the information and messages can be grasped by any person.
D. What are the industrial or economic factors in the evolution of media from print to radio to television?
In the earlier years, print media was a great way to disseminate information. Newspapers were the leading forms of prints as they serve as a way for people to connect on communal issues. As time goes by, prints from newspapers evolved into radio news, which technically marked the start of convergent media since there is already a merging of different forms. In no time, another medium was invented and it was the television. The process of the evolution of media had made people access information without any struggle. And because how fast-paced the demands of the people are, it resulted to the fast evolution of mass media.
E. What does the digitization of videos mean for information producers and consumers?
The digitization of videos for both producers and consumers mean that the information we need can now be easily accessed. It is basically in this process that has revolutionized the communication system because of the capacity and ease it provides for both production and consumption of media. For producers, information could be disseminated in different ways whereas for consumers, it makes life convenient because we can easily look and search for the things, we want to know easily. Digitization of videos also means transforming traditional home media into various digital formats that could be accessed anywhere through the help of the internet.
F. What are the pros and cons of media accessibility?
The best thing accessibility of media probably brings is that it makes us all connected. In an instant, it makes us aware of the news and information happening across the globe. Media is also used for advertising and marketing business. With it, it has help businesses reach potential consumers faster and easier. Broadcast media is a way of conveying information in vast audiences and keeps us updated with news. But in every progress accompanies downsides. The fact that it has already existed everywhere, it leads to lesser human interaction and more time on social media. It can also be used for misinformation because media as a whole is vulnerable to propaganda and lies. Knowing these cons, it is our responsibility to teach ourselves how to become media literate individuals.
G. What constitutes a convergent media? How is it differentiated from traditional media? Would you consider convergent media under the categories of new media? Explain your answer.
Media convergence, generally means the merging of different media channels- e.g, magazines, radio programs, TV shows- into a single digital bit-stream accessed through mobile digital system. Convergent and traditional media do not differ really, because both are tools for communication. I guess the distinguishable difference between the two is the period of existence in which traditional media obviously came out first which had involved the use of prints. The convergence of media is somehow under new media since it refers also to the combination of traditional and new media considering that it has allowed us to communicate in a whole new level. Technically, convergent media has just started before but has further elaborated at present through the combination of text, videos and audios
H. How does convergent media empower individuals to assert themselves in the bigger society? Think of the metaphor of David and Goliath.
In a world wherein technology is constantly evolving, media convergence has become an important element to people most especially that we are bombarded with different issues today. Let us think of the bigger society as Goliath, wherein along with him lies the societal issues which needed to be given attention. But David, who basically represents us, believes in the power of voicing out our thoughts and feelings. With the help of the sling and rock, David was able to take down Goliath by hitting his weak spot. And that sling and rock, depicts media convergence. It has become a medium for us to fight against the unending issues in the society. Through it, we could also be a part of a positive change, and could plan for an effective solution for the betterment of the society.
I. Compare and contrast the evolution of communication from orality to literacy and the evolution of media from traditional media to convergent media. Reflecting on how these developments came about, what could be assumed (or predicted) for the future of media production and consumption and/or mass communication?
The evolution of communication from orality and literacy is not that apart from the evolution of media from traditional to convergent. Basically, orality paved the way to the existence of literacy in the same manner the convergent media came from traditional media. These evolutions differ according to the period of time they emerge but they are similar in the way that both developed through time and became into something much more helpful and convenient. In the next years to come, we can expect that there will be greater and even more advanced inventions to improve our accessibility to media and communication. We can also assume that more individuals will likely engage in the use of media to further connect and adapt in the constant change technology has brought to the world.
J. What is Bitzer’s definition of a rhetorical situation?
In the context of Lloyd Bitzer, rhetorical situation refers to the natural context of persons, events, objects, relations and an exigence which strongly invites utterance. In addition, a rhetorical discourse can only occur if there is a rhetorical situation. It serves as a guide of the rhetoric to consider what must be conveyed to the audience.
K. What are the different aspects of a rhetorical situation?
Lloyd Bitzer mentioned that in order for the situation to be considered rhetorical, it must comprise the three components which basically are- (1) exigence, which refers to the importance of the subject; (2) the audience, that introduces the discourse and actions, and (3) the constraints, which limit the decision or actions.
I. Which of the issues you encounter today do you think warrant rhetorical discourse?
The issue that I personally believe still warrants rhetorical discourse is the War on Drugs by our President Rodrigo Duterte.
m.i. What were the different persuasive strategies mentioned in the chapter?
The different persuasive strategies mentioned in the chapter are: Taking and Avoiding Sides; Explicit Appeals to Common In-Group Membership; Constructing Aspirational Identities; Implicit Displays of Rhetorical Alignment; Who are “WE” Flexibility and Vagueness in the use of first-person pronouns; Using Pronouns to Display Complex Political Allegiances; Using First-Person Plural Pronouns to Convey Ideological Messages.
m.ii. Of these strategies, which have you encountered during political campaigns?
For me, the most usual persuasive strategy I have encountered so far that was used by politicians during political campaigns would be taking the side of the common people.
m.iii. Were these strategies effective for you? Why or why not?
Personally, the strategies mentioned in the chapter are effective since without the strategies, the political discussions and debates would no longer matter. We have our leaders and politicians sitting in the government, leading us today because we, citizens were convinced by their rhetoric discourses which had influenced us to vote for them.

Professional SEO Copywriting Services - What They Are, And What They Aren't

If you type the words"seo copywriting" to Google, tens of thousands of posts and supplier websites come up. However, just how many of them are genuinely helpful? Is seo-friendly copywriting the standard? Are copywriters now so-savvy? In fact, if you're searching for a expert SEO copywriter, you are likely to have to store around.
There are hundreds and hundreds of seo optimization companies that masquerade as copywriters - that may set them in the guide so far as search engine saturation and rankings. SEO optimization indisputably brings the visitors to your site. Without it, you would be missing at the never ending sea of sites. It is tempting to employ an SEO company to just install your keyword content, submit your site, and let it go. This really is a sad mistake for internet companies to create - when the traffic is delivered, they lose earnings. A wholesome dose of advertising consciousness is your genuine goldmine in regards to so-savvy copywriting solutions.
Have a look at the work of a number of the highest seo optimisation companies. Do it today. Google 'seo optimization'.
SEO companies are usually rather wordy - they are pressing on the constraints of search engine ratios. They understand that as a SEO company, their intention is to obtain a web site into the surface of the search engine success. Once they have done that, they have finished their occupation. They are not there to write sales copy or think of a tricky, brand-building motto. They're there to assist you feed machines not brains. Regrettably an SEO firm simply does not have the marketing savvy to create web site content that brings in the vital elements of advertising: psychological draw, a persuasive message, and also an amazing offer.
Can you inquire a seo optimization company to compose your printing brochure? Help you design a script to your television commercial? Can you ask them to compile a media kit to get prospective investors? Of course not - that is not exactly what they focus in. SEO optimization businesses specialize in communication with search engines - not individuals.
If you're interested in finding the"sell factor" - that is where great copywriting comes from. A techie that knows how to blanket a web site in key words does not concentrate in imagination and creativity. That is awful for you, because these are the things which produce your products stand out, boost your response rate, and push sales. SEO optimization companies rely upon keyword saturation - a frequently complex algorithm which checks to determine how a lot of your key words have been read by Google. Keyword saturation is a superb instrument to tinker with search engine results - but it is not necessarily the instrument that you would like to exploit when you are attempting to convince consumers to genuinely connect with what you are supplying. (And connect together in this manner that they return for longer.)
So, what exactly do accurate seo copywriting services perform to your own website?SEO copywriters focus on the concept, then the translation into Google. They're specialist translators which produce a smooth transition out of search engine terminology to customer-centric terminology. They compose your backup with no key words in your mind (a 2-7percent key word ratio, that's the norm ) but they still add voice and style to what you are selling.
A fantastic SEO copywriter steers apparent of cookie product descriptions but nevertheless manages to slide your key words in there for Google and Yahoo to see. They understand how to build your new and your business picture using professionally written, good copy. They are the important part of a legitimate search engine advertising effort - they provide your business a voice which stands a cut above the rest. Have a peek here Texterseo
Your site includes a voice, and seo copywriting services must construct a clear message
The voice of your organization is the terminology on your own site - all the phrases, product descriptions, connect text, and metadata the search engines pick up and send - and - people wind up reading. A seo copywriter will hit a balance between using promotional and keywords words efficiently. They do not sacrifice quality for the sake of a greater saturation rate. They need copy that's fascinating to see - and brings earnings. They wish to key words to be incorporated into high-pulling articles.
A fantastic SEO copywriter will understand that headings and names are equally as significant to the search engines since the people who visit. They understand the significance of daring and bullets to make reading easier on the eyes to your computer-weary clients. They also understand that Google finds it a lot easier to read also.
An SEO copywriter is a hybrid of the creative imagination and tech-savvy - pleasing both search engines along with also the interest of your prospects. They need results that convert to high search engine results, in addition to higher revenue volume.
Evaluating seo copywriting services - is the copywriter an seo company in disguise?
So, how can you know whether you're genuinely working using an seo-savvy copywriting support? The simplest way to learn would be to read their site. Many seo companies rely heavily on search engine numbers - even in their own site copy - but do not let this alone frighten you off. Statistics are the number of seo companies see their end of their deal - the outcomes. Look at their portfolio. (If they do not have a portfolio or links to internet work, operate!) Read their site text to find out whether sounds just like someone took time composing it is there promotional terminology? A call to action? A definite list of advantages? Is the material persuasive? Are their posts useful and worth studying - or do they appear to grind out info in monotone?
Things to look for when picking a professional SEO copywriter:Here are a couple of things to search for when you pick an SEO author, as well as why.
Does your seo copywriter have a portfolio or links to keyworded posts? Does it include more than simply seo-related work? (Most seo copywriters either started away in print media or mix with it from time to time. Experience in other marketing mediums demonstrates they know how to promote to individuals, not only machines.)
Are their posts unique and persuasive? Read some of the seo-keyworded posts by printing them out on newspaper - does the backup flow easily? Might it be exciting or educational? Can you observe the repetition of key words enough that it destroys the phrase flow? Oh, and if you are at it, Google their posts and find out how they rank in the search engines, too.
Does your seo copywriter have a title? That's correct - a title. (Will Smith. Cathy Bates. Melissa Brewer.) A good deal of seo copywriting providers farm out their work to India along with other tech-saturated nations. This is very good for pricing - but the quality may vary and is determined by the English abilities of each individual author. The posts on their site needs to have a byline and data for their writers - expertise, a portfolio, an"About Us" section - whatever that your customers would wish to learn about you. Does your seo copywriter care about your advertising strategy for a whole? Do they give complementary solutions - both web and print, to enable your marketing security to intersect with your search engine attempts? Can they make referrals to reputable providers from the advertising business?
A truly capable, creative seo copywriter is a diamond in the rough. When you locate a individual having a hybrid of advertising and technology abilities, you've discovered a true partner in your internet advertising efforts. Do not forfeit your company site to search motors. A fantastic no author can aid your site - and your new - increase to the peak of the search engines in addition to the forefront of your client's thoughts when they're in a shopping mood. SEO copywriters may also help you produce online newsletters, e-books, posts , sites , and some other backup where phrases are used to market products or solutions. The ideal mix of keywords and internet marketing increases sales, attract clients and increase your company exponentially - both offline and on. Check This Out Wortschmied

Fashioning the Future
youtube
Video 1: Introduction to Fashioning the Future by Ashlee Murphy
The fashion journalist, once the gatekeepers to the fashion capitals of the world and their runways, are now fleeting to rule the World Wide Web.This expansion comes from not just the breadth of opportunities and advancements known to social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and yes, even Tumblr, but also to keep up with the relentless battle against the fashion blogger and the decline of print media. Starting the conversation for this structural shift to modern journalism is important to divulging the true impact of technology and social media - is it a friend or foe to the future of journalism?
THE FASHION BLOGGER
Call it amateur, but the rise of the fashion blogger is real. Once marginalised by their lack of degree or profession, the blogger was a rare sight on any forum of journalism. Many believed it was pure PR, disguised by the pretence of journalism. However, if new media has started anything, it’s the democratisation of the journalism sphere.
Fashion bloggers are now seen as the voices of potential - the people that can freely, analytically and without the constraints of appeasing media standards and organisations, comment with fresh perspectives in an industry that relies on the ideal of the ‘new’. However, is this ‘freedom’ damaging to the integrity of journalism?
The Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance developed the Journalist’s Code of Ethics in 1944 which has since served as a core for Australian press self-regulation. Bloggers, by their separation to traditional media professionals, and the absence of ‘quality-control’ associated with media representation, are not applicable to this code. This, along with a lack of experience and education in the areas, presses the argument on blogging as being an unprofessional practice and an unreliable source for fashion news - especially in a society where the detriments of fake news are so very real.
Author Geoffrey Millerson (1964, p. 14) argues that professional practice can be defined by 23 characteristics. Six of these are transferable across industries:
1. A skill based on theoretical knowledge.
2. Intellectual training and education.
3. The testing of competence .
4. Closure of the profession by restrictive organisation.
5. A code of conduct.
6. An altruistic service in the affairs of others.
Evaluating fashion bloggers against this criteria proved that a blogger cannot currently be defined as a profession as the nature of blogging only appeals to the sixth characteristic. Equally so, the capabilities and lack of boundaries characteristic to blog posting continues to lower the bar on what constitutes ‘journalism,' and therefore implementing the ‘professionalism’ of the job. However, their voice, as one that is accessible anywhere in the world on any device and any online platform, is on none of us can really avoid as a forum of fashion news.
The role of the fashion blogger in new media is one that is disruptive - one that will break down the barriers of ‘professional practice’ and continue to democratise the journalistic sphere until we all could just be bloggers or civil journalists across multiple news platforms. Either way, the current journalists playing field sees the bloggers with reigns over the internet, and in today’s digital world, perhaps it’s them that are the highest stakeholders.
Figure 1: Growth of readership for Australian fashion magazines in the span of 12 months. Data retrieved from Roy Morgan.
THE TANGIBLE FASHION MAGAZINE
As seen from the data visualisation above, readership values for Australian fashion magazines in the past twelve months are staying pretty stagnant, or if not, slipping (see Frankie). This shows us the growing concern for the future of print media, and more specifically, the fashion magazine.
Industry professionals still remain adamant that print is irreplaceable. Former fashion editor for Queensland media corporations Quest Newspapers, Courier Mail and (now inactive) BMagazine, Laura Churchill, says that although she may be a ‘dinosaur’ in her thinking, she still ‘loves to be able to pick up a newspaper or a magazine and be able to read something tangible - something you can keep’.
CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL MINI INTERVIEW WITH LAURA CHURCHILL
Dinosaur? Maybe. Just maybe.
The battle between online media, such as blogs, and print media is undoubtedly a paradigm shift as the world continues to digitalise. This shift, and opening of new platforms, would give off the idea of more job opportunities, however in most publications, print journalism teams also contribute to their digital platforms, which perhaps is a core lesson for the future of fashion journalism (not to foreshadow or anything, wink).
The shift was given life by the rapid rise of technology and the Internet. These complimenting areas have distributed the idea of the world as an interconnected web of politics, economics and culture due to the technologies speeding up the delivery of information (Arnould et al., 2005, p. 214-215). Journalism and fashion, as two industries that rely on time, politics, economics and culture at their cores, are pretty cozy in this domain. Repeatedly, we’re seeing this shift leave print media in the dust.
A key example of this is the UK edition of the internationally renowned InStyle Magazine, which in 2016 stopped its print publication to instead focus on online-only distribution.
“What we have achieved with InStyle over the last few years has been hugely rewarding and the team has, rightly, won numerous awards and nominations for their work across print and digital,” said editor Charlotte Moore.
“But the fashion world is changing dramatically - the way our audience interacts with it is changing and we have to change to meet that challenge. With a focus on delivering the InStyle experience across all digital platforms, we can really give our audience 24-hour access to all the fashion and beauty looks, trends and brands they clearly have such a huge appetite for.”
However, this bold decision from InStyle UK was met with criticism as leading fashion and journalism professionals believe that the future for print remains strong.
“I think that magazines, Vogue and Condé Nast, all they do is talk about online content and online projects. And I think they slightly forget their own DNA,” says Godfrey Deeny, former fashion editor-at-large of Le Figaro.
“The DNA of magazines is the same as the DNA of luxury products: to make beautiful objects and reflect a certain amount of intelligence.”
If there were any greater example of adapting to both print and online, let it be Deeny’s ventures between them both. Deeny, other than being the former fashion editor at Le Figaro, has an extensive journalistic history as the editor-in-chief of Vogue Hommes International, and buerau chief of Women’s Wear Daily in Paris, under John Fairchild (Business of Fashion, 2018). He is currently positioned as the editor-in-chief of German magazine Achtung while still contributing fashion critiques for Le Figaro. Although boasting the impressive resume of print-focused titles, Deeny was also highly involved in the launch of online fashion website, the Fashion Wire Daily, as the European editor-at-large, AND just last year succeeded as the inaugural international editor-in-chief of Fashion Network.com.
By embracing positions across both mediums, Deeny has been able to secure a sensational career in fashion journalism that spans over 25 years.

Perhaps then, a collaboration (rather than a battle!) between the print and digital sides, is at the core of a thriving future for fashion journalism. By marrying the online idea of immediacy and the reputable traditions of print, all aspiring journalists would be ‘multi-lingual’ in their approaches to media platforms. The notion of being a cross-disciplinary journalist is also referred to as multi-skilling, or up-skilling - a trend that sees the journalism industry depart from specialisation in platforms (such as broadcast journalists, print journalists etc.) to adapt to all areas of journalism for maximised flexibility (Nygren, 2014, p. 76). In a survey conducted in 2012 of 1,500 journalists, 73% could see future journalists being multi-skilled (Nygren, 2014, p. 81). Six years later, we are the future journalists. As myself, and other’s in my position begin our journalism careers with an eye for fashion journalism, the area of multi-skilling needs to be at the fore-front of our minds.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Ashlee Murphy is a third year fashion and journalism student at the Queensland University of Technology. While her ultimate goal is to overthrow the great Anna Wintour in her position as Vogue Editor-in-Chief (see Ashlee’s own interesting interpretation of this above), Ashlee knows that Rome wasn’t built in a day and is happy to embrace the freelancer life until her reign of the fashion journalism industry comes. If she’s not busy reading up on critical areas of fashion studies and brushing up on her online shopping skills, she’s raising a beautiful labrador x golden retriever puppy.

• Inclined visual learning- The most effective technique to retain information in memory is to use images. 90% of the information that is sent to the brain is visual. Developing cognitive abilities aids in enhancing creativity. Aesthetic visuals, captivating films, fascinating, gamified learning, etc., encourage students to work harder and combat the monotony of their studies.
Conclusion
Although technology in the classroom gives us the chance to make class so interesting and productive, it is up to us to decide how to use it to our advantage. As the saying goes, "Education happens to those that desire to obtain it." Although education is required in India, the method of instruction is up to the individual.
What would you choose if you had the choice between dual-mode learning and traditional learning? The benefits listed above have given online learning a place in school and opened up new career paths. Children gain from the new educational medium, and teachers evaluate, accept, and use it to create the most straightforward learning environment for the kids.

Jalsa, Mumbai Apr 22, 2018 Sun 8:44 AM

There is sincere need to rectify the conditions of mind when polluted by excessive medicinal contraptions. They are there to ease the ailment, to rectify condition, to bring an element of normalcy but, sadly they often convert a perfectly sane easy thinking mind into what can only be described as ..
INSANITY ..
So after the delights of tired troubled and under the stress mind and body, the slumberette close by inviting and warm, protects further deterioration and comes to life for a fresh morning ..
GOOD MORNING ALL .. and may the forces that constructs each day for us and for the world, bring only love and affection to us ..
Promotional acts of desperate ferocity be constructed each hour now, for the film on release and the questioning to different agents of marketing and publicity occurs in rapid fashion. The operations are the same to each facility, to each campaign, to each different medium of communication, and it does get repetitive and mundane. But if looked upon as an exercise of a performer faced with such, it does become eventually and at the end, an examination. An examination on how competently one is able to weave this network of differentials in as adequate a manner as possible.
In our times and the times of old and days gone by, no such desperation was ever evident. An advertisement in a paper, mostly the fraternity paper, SCREEN, of the Indian Express Group was used for these announcements and that was it. Yes theatre owners would put up publicity placards of on coming films in their lobby, but other than that there were those traditional and now so forgotten, hand painted banners, that would adorn the street walls. And films ran for weeks and weeks and weeks !
Amar Akbar Anthony for example ran for 25 weeks in 25 theatres in one city, Mumbai !! That kind of phenomena does not happen these days. At most the first week end is what every business is looked upon to gauge the potential of a film. And by the second or third week its the end of its story. BUT .. the collections come in and numbers are maintained. The success at box office being measured by the cash that came in from different centres. In France apparently, and I did seek information on this, the success of a film is measured by the number of foot falls in a particular theatre. Interesting. But then that is the French for you !
A large number of the questions that appear at these sittings for our promotions, dwell only on the presence of the word BADUMBAA ! Why and how and when be the curious questioning. I explain to them that it was just an on the spot invention by me to express happiness, an exclamation, a whelp for joy, at an achievement a victory, an utterance that would phonetically express achieved success and a wild scream of victory ! Their curiosity does not fade away, it continues and we continue to give the same response. Indeed at one stage when the entire process of PR is over, we jointly scream BADUUMBAAA !
But surely, tell me how did the expression .. WOW .. derive its presence .. or YEAAHH .. when we appreciate a feeling a moment .. so similarly BADUMBA.
That was perhaps the best and fittest explanation to the word.
The sense of joy and productive acceptance coming from the expression, to the musical interpretation of the song, has been under the scanner by yours truly, for I do believe there could have been great improvement all over. But time constraints and limits of availability coerced the makers to accept what ever came their way, much to my disappointment. However, the need to better the last work shall ever remain and efforts in that direction continue. And not just in that one direction but in other directions too.
There be another musical introduction soon for the promotions of film. It be another song done by me, which in a very obtuse manner brings elements of the film scenario in it. It does take its roots from a moment of the film, and its tune form and construct are indeed from the past, a favourite of mine, yet its flavour in the fresh mix, is perhaps sounding apt for the situation the various visuals of our present presentation, present.
I believe its that moment of a soft lit room, an evening of solitude and peace, a companion or even the self, in thoughts of days and feelings gone by .. and the rendition of this song gently wafting through the air waves about .. a perfumed candle .. a bowl full of the sweet smelling ‘mogra’ .. the comfort of a slouch couch .. and nothing but the engineered breathing of the soul.
It should be brought out within a few days and I would be keen to know from all, what they thought of the effort. And I must confess here that there have been many recent nights, when it has been played at depressed volume in my study, in my room of dedicated books and desk and the utensils of connect, till the wee hours of the ‘koyal kook’, bringing on nostalgia and all that can possibly be associated with feelings !
Keeping these attempts in mind, I now build within the premises and in proximity, that room, which shall be utilised for the recordings of such gain and experiment, in a few months. There is still hope of its accomplishment, of further inventions and learnings to happen, of creating through the gadgetry available now and in this ever changing world to be able to bring some potential product for posterity .. not of works of my own but of the legendary archives that have been inherited by me ; my Father’s works.
It is late in my years to be of this activity, but if there is breath and breathe, if there is voice and will .. it must be in its continuity !
This ecosystem build must remain in purity and design that, which remains within the heart ..

Against a backdrop of widening religious fault lines and concerns over freedom of speech, a group of fearless Indonesian comics is using the power of laughter to tackle society’s ills
Cheers, whoops and enthusiastic applause accompany Iqbal Muzakki as he shuffles off stage. The night’s MC bounds onto the platform in his place, keeping the energy of the show high: “How about Muzakki, everyone? He killed it, right?” There’s a strong “yes” from the audience. “And you know what?” the MC continues, “This is the only place where a Muslim can kill successfully… and nobody actually dies.”
This is Keminggris, a live, English-language, stand-up comedy show in Malang, the second-largest city in Indonesia’s East Java province. In a modern, open-air bar, the show’s eight performers deliver two hours of very funny, but often brutal, material that holds nothing sacred. From Chinese parents to Indian farmers; Indonesian politicians to Zumba-loving pensioners, nobody is safe from ridicule.
But in the world’s most-populous Muslim country, it is the religious jokes that stand out from the rest. Indonesia’s reputation as a moderate, secular democracy has taken a bit of a battering in recent times. Religious intolerance is on the rise, and many in the country feel free speech is under threat. For the past two years, the national debate has become increasingly dominated by the right-wing Islamist group, the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI). FPI members have been accused of violent attacks on religious minorities, intimidation of journalists and targeted online abuse.
There have been many calls for the group to be banned as the country’s religious fault lines widen, but a number of young Indonesians are attempting to fight back and help heal the damage through comedy. Muzakki, a student at the Islamic University in Malang, filled his set with jokes about a failed attempt to turn him into a suicide bomber at school and his mistaken belief that he could buy halal beer. He says he wants to “fix” how Islam is increasingly portrayed in the country.
“[The idea] that Islam is a strict authority – it’s not like that, you can have a sense of humour like me,” he says. “I just want to show that to other people, especially non- Muslims. Islam is not dangerous.”
The use of comedy to help effect social or political change is not a new idea, but it’s still at a fledgling stage in Indonesia. In fact, stand-up comedy itself has a relatively short history in the country. Indonesian humour had long tended to favour comedy troupes performing sketches and physical comedy skits; it wasn’t until the mid-2000s that a few pioneering stand-ups began to make some headway, first in Jakarta and then at national level.
The scene exploded in 2011, when two television channels ran stand-up comedy talent shows that garnered a big national audience. One of those shows, Stand Up Comedy Indonesia, on Kompas TV, is still running and still popular. Most of Indonesian comedy’s biggest names have won or appeared on the show.
Despite its popularity, many comedians have found television a difficult medium for pursuing edgier social and political comedy. “In TV shows, the censorship is quite severe,” says Reggy Hasibuan, the organiser and MC of Keminggris. “No political jokes, no ethnicity jokes and especially no religious jokes. I think personally that has reduced the quality of [Indonesian] comedy because only safe material goes through.”
Is it going to be dangerous? Is it offensive? I think before I go to the stage. But why should I feel afraid of it? My religion is funny
Under an umbrella organisation known as Stand Up Indo, there are now more than 30 stand-up comedy ‘communities’ across Indonesia. Many comics are students or part-time performers, but while the audiences are generally good, the money generally isn’t. Despite the financial restraints, it is live shows where comedians can hone their craft and, more importantly, really get their teeth into risky material.
In Malang, Fajar Ardiansyah says he doesn’t set out to deliberately offend anyone, but he believes the best way to deal with social problems is through comedy. “I never touch any kind of personal belief,” he says. “I make sure that everything I deliver is being considered by my comic friends. Is it going to be dangerous? Is it offensive? I think before I go to the stage. I consider everything. But why should I feel afraid of it? My religion is funny.”
“We need to be honest,” says Hasibuan. “If you’re living in this country and you don’t have any problems with religion, then you’re a liar, because it’s everywhere. We’re just wrapping that up in a funny way, so it’s easier to accept. Religion is not absolute; you can make fun of it and it’s OK. We have always had a problem with extremism; it’s always there. But I think what’s hopeful is that now we see people fighting back. They’ve had enough; they’ve arrived at that boiling point at which they think something must be done.”
The comics admit they still have a long way to go before their dissent drowns out the voices of Indonesia’s emboldened hardline Islamic groups. They also think that what they are doing carries a risk far greater than just causing offence. The current climate in Indonesia does not easily allow for anybody to speak out about tense religious issues, particularly non-Muslims.
A survey earlier this year by the Wahid Foundation found that nearly 40% of respondents from across Indonesia were “intolerant” towards non-Muslims. In May, this intolerance reached fever pitch when, after weeks of FPI mass rallies demanding his arrest, the ethnic Chinese and Christian governor of Jakarta was found guilty of violating Indonesia’s strict blasphemy law. Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, better known as ‘Ahok’, was sentenced to two years in prison after he referred to a Qur’anic verse in one of his speeches. His conviction followed a bitter gubernatorial election campaign in which religious identity was a major issue. Human Rights Watch called the verdict a “frightening future” for moderates and non-Muslims.
Hasibuan is himself half-Chinese and from a Christian family, though he now considers himself an atheist. He has been subjected to abuse and violent threats online after he posted a promotional flyer for a show he called Halal Christmas. Nothing happened, but he was concerned enough to put security on the door of the show, something he hadn’t done before. He is also well aware of the potential legal risks.
“Its an absolute no-no in this country to speak, make fun of, or ridicule people from different religions,” he says. “If a Christian makes a joke about Muslims, that will go bad very fast.”
Doing the shows in English helps protect him and the other performers, “because bigots are generally stupid and don’t understand English, right?” he says with a laugh.
But he also closes the show by imploring the audience not to post any videos online – “or we’ll all end up in jail!”
It’s difficult for performers to balance risk versus reward. Posting material online exposes them, but it’s also one of the few ways to gain national and international attention outside the constraints of television.
One of the most high-profile comedians in Indonesia is Sakdiyah Ma’ruf. She is one of the few comics who have gained international recognition and also one of a limited number of women on the standup comedy circuit.
Ma’ruf grew up in a very conservative Muslim family of Arab descent in northern Java. She says she was expected to grow up as a “decent Muslim girl” and eventually be married off to an older man. Much of her comedy focuses on her upbringing and the treatment of women in conservative Muslim families. Some of her most provocative material is easy to find online. During a TED Talk in Bali last year she told her audience: “In my community, people work fucking hard to pretend they still live in the desert.”
In 2015, Ma’ruf was awarded the Vaclav Havel Prize for Creative Dissent in Oslo – previous winners include Ai Weiwei and Aung San Suu Kyi – but her profile has also attracted vitriol from inside Indonesia.
“I cannot have that in the back of my mind if I want to continue working,” she says. “I know that there’s a danger. I don’t want to go to jail or receive death threats. I cannot allow myself to get scared of that. It’s hard enough to write jokes that work; it’s going to be even harder if I have to self-censor.”
Though Ma’ruf describes herself purely as a comedian, she, like the others, feels a greater purpose in what she is trying to do. “Comedy has the potential to combat extremism because it creates a safe space for everyone to discuss their issues. But, for me personally, the most important thing is to be able to talk honestly about how human we are, that we are all flawed.”
Recalling her last television appearance a few years ago, Ma’ruf says she was repeatedly reminded that the programme was live. The warning being: don’t say anything controversial.
“What am I going to say?” she laughs. “What are they so worried about? I’m just a girl in a hijab. It’s not that dangerous.”

Which Breed of Dog Should I Get?
First take a gander at your living climate.
Do you have a major house, little house or loft?
Do you live in the city, a rural zone or country territory?
Do you live by a lake or the sea or close to a timberland or rocky region?
Is it a hot atmosphere, cold, or one that has every one of the four seasons?
Do you have a little yard, large yard, sections of land of land or no yard by any means?
Is your yard fenced? In the event that you don't have a fenced yard you should be set up to walk your canine on different occasions each day.
Various varieties are a superior fit for various conditions. For instance, you would prefer not to get a functioning medium or enormous variety canine that loves to run and needs part's of activity on the off chance that you live in a loft. Dogs Breeds that were intended for cold atmospheres don't do well in the warmth, except if you need to go through the cash to have them clippered down. Canines with solid prey drives, similar to terriers and chasing canines, will pursue off squirrels, bunnies and other prey. If not fenced in, they are in danger of getting lost or hit by a vehicle.
Then, think about your day to day environment.
Do you have a little child or will you intend to begin a family?
Do you have little youngsters or teens?
Is it true that you are a solitary individual or a couple living alone?
Do you travel frequently? How will you manage your canine?
Do you have visitors over oftentimes? Do you need a monster breed welcoming and connecting with them?
Numerous varieties are brilliant with either a solitary individual or a family with youngsters, be that as it may, a few, as Golden Retrievers are considerably more open minded toward small kids than certain varieties. Toy breeds can be delicate and a few reproducers lean toward they not go to a home with any youngsters younger than 8.
What sort of character do you have?
Truly, you inquire? What's my character have to do with the variety of canine I get?
All things considered, similarly as individuals have various characters do as well, canines.
Individuals and canines can be friendly, peaceful, self-assured, modest, forceful, chatty, smart, curious, vigorous, quiet, and so on A few canines are to a greater extent a barker than others, some cry.
In the event that an individual is all the more a bashful or quiet kind of individual they may not appreciate or need to manage the high energy of a terrier and the other way around. A functioning individual who likes to climb or in-line skate would fit well with a high energy canine that can keep up on the off chance that they need their canine to appreciate these sorts of exercises moreover. A habitual slouch type individual would fit best with a habitually lazy person sort of canine, or a canine with a quiet energy like a brilliant retriever or a little canine in the toy breed gathering.
Something else to consider is the consideration needed for the type of canine you get.
Do you need a canine that needs customary expert prepping, a long-haired variety that will require successive brushing and may leave a ton of hair around, a short-haired variety or one that doesn't shed much by any means.
Is it true that you are searching for a major canine to give assurance? Be cautious with this thought. Any canine will make you aware of outsiders however in the event that you need a greater variety as a defender you ought to be an accomplished canine proprietor. These varieties are not for fledgling canine proprietors or those with a "delicate" character. A yapping canine will frighten off most interlopers regardless of what breed it is, in any case, there are breeds, similar to Airedale Terriers, that are extraordinary family pets and incredible defenders.
On the off chance that an interloper isn't apprehensive about a woofing canine they probably will have gotten ready for an approach to work around that. They may carry meat with them to involve the canine or even may murder the canine. On the off chance that you need insurance get a caution framework for your home or purchase and figure out how to utilize a firearm. Getting a canine for security just is definitely not a smart thought.
Presently lets view at the varieties as a gathering to help tight down the field.
Toy breeds - These canines are little and more delicate than greater varieties however they can be loaded with energy. Because they are little doesn't mean they are weak, they will persevere and it's not surprising to see a toy breed down a bigger variety. They shed nearly nothing and are acceptable condo canines.
Brandishing gathering - These canines appreciate the forested areas and the water and generally have balanced characters however they do require practice and appreciate a decent generous exercise.
Non-Sporting - This is an assorted gathering of canines and are a shifted assortment as far as size, coat, character and by and large appearance.
Grouping canines - These canines are herders and they are wonderful at how the can handle the development of different creatures. These are shrewd canines, simple to prepare and make great colleagues. They have a solid need to group, nonetheless, so except if they have a "work", they can get baffled and take out this disappointment on you, your kids or your family assets. It isn't phenomenal for individuals to grumble that their grouping canine is "gnawing" their youngsters, when, indeed, they are nipping and "crowding" them. On the off chance that you pick a crowding breed, be set up to give them a lot of activity and something to keep that grouping sense occupied in a beneficial way.
Dog gathering - Most of the canines in the gathering have been or are utilized for chasing. Some are these canines have astonishing aroma capacities while others have a lot of endurance. A portion of these canines narrows, or wail. On the off chance that you haven't heard this sound ensure you get comfortable with it before you get one of these canines.
Working canines - These are huge variety canines, solid and incredible. These are certifiably not a decent variety for another canine proprietor. They are brilliant canines however need a proprietor who has experience preparing and dealing with this sort of canine.
Terrier gathering - You could likewise call this the Terror gathering (simply joking, kind of). These are feisty, lively canines and frequently have little capacity to bear different creatures, including different canines. They can be very decisive and do best with a similarly emphatic proprietor who can build up clear principles, limits and constraints.
Misc canines - This is a gathering of generally uncommon or new to AKC breeds. Exploration them further in the event that you have an interest in one of these.
No article can advise you precisely which type of canine is ideal for you however can help you with ensuring you pose the correct inquiries and give you a few assets to look at. There are many diverse canine varieties so you should do some extra research to decide the best variety for your circumstance. Your examination of the various varieties will assist you with improving comprehension of what may be a solid match for your current circumstance. The motivation behind this article is to assist you with forming your inquiries and give a little heading to finding the best variety for you.
The canine you get will live with you for the following 10-15 years so some cautious idea ought to be given and examination done to decide the best variety for you. Both you and your canine will value that you put in some work presently to distinguish the kind of canine that will fit in well in your life.
This site (http://www.akc.org/breeds/#) will permit you to see each canine by gathering and by breed. You can see on the left segment connects to see the canines by breed and by gathering. There is an image of each canine and by tapping on it you can get a decent portrayal of the various attributes of that breed.
Where would it be advisable for me to get my canine?
In the event that you choose you need to get an unadulterated variety canine, at that point locate the best raiser you can, one who does wellbeing accreditations, has a place with their National Breed Club and sells their canines with a composed agreement and wellbeing ensure. Unexpectedly, an all around reared thoroughbred canine is frequently more affordable than those sold in stores. Never under any circumstance purchase a canine from a pet store! Every one of those little dogs come from pup factories. In the event that you're inexperienced with "doggy plants" simply Google the term and read about the repulsive conditions where these canines reside. Regardless of what they advise you, no moral reproducer could actually offer little guys to a store. Indeed, it is cause for excusal from the National Breed clubs. Similarly with the web. Purchaser be careful! There are many sites with pictures of charming pups close to blossoms or with strips in their hair when actually they were brought into the world in an awful pup factory type circumstance. Examination your reproducer and go to visit assuming there is any chance of this happening. To locate a quality raiser start by searching for the reproducer club of the state you live in and you can utilize the connection gave above to the AKC.
You may pay somewhat more yet its justified, despite all the trouble to get a canine that is appropriately reared, is solid and has the right personality of that breed.
On the off chance that you can't bear or couldn't care less about having a quality thoroughbred puppy you will be similarly too off embracing a canine from a nearby haven.
There are numerous canines accessible at salvage offices that can be a decent ally for you. Public Breed Clubs likewise support the salvage of their own varieties so they can point you toward a thoroughbred salvage. There are often thoroughbred canines at covers, through no shortcoming of their own, however the aftereffect of somebody NOT getting their work done and purchasing some unacceptable variety for their way of life and afterward find that breed simply is certainly not a solid match for them. A portion of these canines will be blended varieties, so by exploring the different varieties you will improve comprehension of what the canine might be blended in with to decide whether it very well may be a solid match.
This will be another individual from your family and you should set aside the effort to discover the perfect one. You will be remunerated with numerous long periods of dedication and unequivocal love.
A couple of words about preparing.
Make certain to begin preparing your canine on the very beginning and reliably fortify the conduct you need and disregard or debilitate the conduct you don't need. Practically all conduct issues are the aftereffect of poor or conflicting preparing and not appropriately mingling your canine with different canines and people. Setting up clear guidelines, limits and restrictions so your canine comprehends your assumptions will make a more joyful and respectful pet.
It tends to be useful to recall that despite the fact that we as a whole love our canines without a doubt, they are not human. They don't think like or legitimize like a human does. They are enthusiastic t

The Big Picture on Small Scale Gold Mining in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe has a protracted history of gold production stretching again many centuries and gold is by way of any estimate a mineral with the longest mining records of the united states of america. Loose Diamonds The gold enterprise is characterized by using huge greenstone belts which assist many small mines which can be privately owned. A United Nations working paper of 1995, on gold mining in Zimbabwe, estimates over 5000 small scale gold mines. This range has expanded substantially when you consider that this last have a look at and an estimate of deposits will clearly be in extra of 10 000. The financial stagnation of the final decade has seen improvement efforts within the region of small scale gold mining crumble, and has in addition fragmented private possession and distribution of small declare proprietors.
A huge quantity of these mines have sizeable ability, but are visible by using the modern-day claim holders as an unattractive investments because of the vast capital wanted. Technology does now not gift a real constraint; the necessary device and abilities are available domestically; and there are not any prison boundaries. The modern-day Zimbabwe mining regulation is probably the handiest in Africa for the acquisition of complete, transferable mineral name. Rather it is the lack of risk capital for equipment purchase and exploration, and entrepreneurial talents that inhibit the development of small-scale mining.
The conventional method to mining of gold claims changed into for the title holder to prospect and peg his claims, then raise sufficient capital for the purchase of the mining system. If capital is difficult to return through, declare holders often revert to manual strategies only mining the richest veins and acquiring a completely low recovery. Once the easy-to-extract gold resource near the floor is exhausted, the claim is deserted and in cases where this is not so, the declare will become distinctly risky for any in addition workings because of risks of the severa adits and tunnels haphazardly chasing the vein. This quick time period mining method in addition reduces the existence of mine. To quote the World Gold Analyst Special Report - Zimbabwe of 2010 (WGR), "Such strategies are notoriously inefficient as they fail to think about the geological setting and the potential of the whole mineral deposit. With a more systematic and goal approach they could determine now not best the scope of the complete deposit, however additionally which techniques might serve them first-class for most useful exploitation of the mineral wealth."
The finest task for identify holders is the incentive of finance for capital system for his or her man or woman gold claims. In most cases, the gold declare will not have justifiable validated reserves for an outlay that could permit the miner to be worthwhile and consequently not be a liability to the financier. The fact that the claims are scattered means that exploration is haphazard. No economies of scale are completed as no character miner calls for all equipment from diamond drillers utilized in exploration to stamp generators or crushers used in gold recuperation. This presents an uncommon quandary for exploitation of the useful resource that is in addition compounded with the aid of the reality that during many cases small miners are not prepared to take away the possession name because it in all likelihood represents a massive portion in their internet really worth. Further the price that they might need for the identify is also in maximum cases plenty better than price connected via capability consumers the usage of available geological fabric. Small miners do no longer hold verifiable production statistics of gold recoveries and tonnages mined. So again the intrinsic fee of the name is tough to agree on.
A take a look at the mining facts as contained within the World Gold Analyst Special Report - Zimbabwe of 2010 (WGR), will similarly confirm what we've got always believed. Although gold production has been falling among 2006 to 2010 (H1), gold deliveries by using custom millers as a percent has been growing. Gold production of the massive mines will boom as they increase ability utilisation, however the importance of this statistic is that it underlines the importance of custom milling vegetation in unlocking the cost of these small mines. With this in mind and taking into consideration the aforementioned demanding situations of small scale mining, a new approach need to be taken by means of buyers.
A new method could be to installation what we loosely term "hubs of excellence". These hubs are fully capitalised useful resource centres for gold miners in any location wherein they're mounted. They do extra than honestly transporting and crushing ore for small mines. They are a one-prevent shop for title holders wishing to free up the underlying price of the gold mines that they may be literally sitting on. The hub will have all capital equipment required-from exploration to gold restoration, and also offer a full boutique of offerings such as mine engineers, geologists and geological intelligence that small miners cannot have enough money to rent in my opinion. The hub may have cyanidation farms of comparable generation to leach tailings. Due to their length, they are better motivators of capital. Profitability is more advantageous due to the economies of production and fuller utilisation of all mining device. The fact that the name isn't always bought out-proper also manner that the version saves cash that would have mainly been used for purchase of reserves. The hub will help miners in transportation of ores for crushing, geological sampling, and recommendation in phrases of mine shape and excellent techniques of attacking the reef. The hub may even lease out to the miners any device that they would need to permit manufacturing. This can be carried out at no prematurely value however alternatively on a pre agreed contractual foundation with miners paying tributes and royalties to the hub after gold recuperation while ores are crushed. Pre feasibility research might be carried out before contractual preparations to ensure that gold recovered can be sufficient to cowl royalties. Undoubtedly, miners also face challenges whilst trying to market their gold. In many cases falling sufferer to unscrupulous people involved inside the industry. Hubs can purchase any excess gold from miners within the surrounding areas and due to the collective volumes of gold purchases it'll be in a higher position to command greater aggressive commodity expenses.
Hubs may even hold production and ore shipping histories including gold recovered of all mines within the location. Over time such information will be used to consolidate small mine clusters in a specific location with the objective of developing exploration and geological intelligence of that region and graduating it into a medium size mine. Title holders in such regions can then be supplied separate Joint Venture agreements or out-proper purchase-outs. In truth such consolidation is what caused one of the international locations huge mines. Jumbo mine now owned with the aid of Metallon Gold changed into honestly component a cluster of small mines of which Jumbo mine changed into the maximum distinguished. Over time, the clusters have been consolidated and now Jumbo has left its as soon as humble beginnings in the back of.
