Vinland Saga S2 Episode 20 Take...
Spoilers below:
God...bro...stop.
First of all the battle:
It is so interesting to see both sides of a 'warrior': The one who revels in the killing and loses himself in the blood and the one scared for their lives. Each of them experiences both sides and its just *mwah* to see FOX being the one TERRIFIED. The one who first suggested to Olmar to kill to truly "become a man". The one who was glorifying the act, telling him so sadistically how easy it is once you realize how soft and fragile a human's body is.
And now it is the Joms vikings who feel the same glee as they strike down each slave as if they are toothpicks.
It shows the humanity and hypocrisy. How each loses - either to the bloodlust or straight up their lives.
It also shows the difference between mere mercenaries i.e. the 'guests' and actual, trained vikings who work under the king. It's *Chef kiss*.
The look in the vikings eyes are the same as the guests and Askeladd's band.
Bro Thorgil is insane???
You know that the moment you meet him but he keeps doing mad things to keep reminding you. Like, dude swam around the island with a sword on his back, no armor to defend himself and was ready to decapitate the king who he worked for just months ago???? Cuz his family got insulted thats why.
Bro is on the same level as Thorkell.
And Canute actually fighting back??? AND ATTEMPTING TO KILL THORGIL TOO? My man got guts and its so surprising.
There is no way Thorgil thought he might do that. Plus, he was too confident to even think he might lose.
Ketil u son of a bitch he survived. There is just something infuriating and tragic knowing a phony like him could fall this deep and low in his own arrogance, pride, weakness and delusion.
Man shouldve died. Stop saving him, Snake.
And now to the tearjerker
Bro
Bro bro bro. Arnheid just...seeing her family waiting for her? Hinting even an episode before that her unborn child is already dead. Gardar took care of it like its own kid in the sequence.
And she woke up just to say her thanks and bid goodbye. Thorfinn and Einar keep trying to give her hope and not to die...
But she keeps on asking; Where will we go and is there war? Is there slave trade? If so, then I don't want it.
She'd rather die. All of these things are just another prolonging nightmare for her.
I was a bit sceptical of Arnheid as a character but it all makes so much sense.
She's just supposed to be a normal woman in the world of the nordics. The world of vikings, war and slaves. Not the daughter or wife of a warrior or anything but just a woman.
She had everything that was part of a normal life. A village, a home, a husband and a child and it's all just taken from her.
She did absolutly nothing wrong. Her only crime being her existence.
When there are no men to defend you in times like these, you are taken away as a slave, your toddler child seen as useless and killed. You are taken to a master and work as his servant, maid and bedwarmer. She becomes pregnant without asking for it but decides and has the strength to protect her second child.
And then...one thing goes wrong and it all comes tumbling down. The master who "adores" her beats her to death and the one person she wanted to protect dies.
"Everyone I loved died. Why should I live?" She has no reason to live anymore.
This isn't just tragedy falling upon you. It's a young woman's will being completely destroyed by the cruelty of this world - of the men who wage war and those who enslave her.
Why should women live in a world like this? Anything peaceful can be taken from them in an blink of an eye and they are collected either as a "prize" for the vikings or sold off as slaves. They are especially vulnerable compared to men. They are straight up SOUGHT by raiders. It's insanity.
The war takes away their fathers, husbands, Brothers and sons. Slavery takes away their mothers, sisters and daughters.
And her speech of asking why she should live mirrors Thorfinn's speech of "Nothing good has ever happend to me" - That's what I think at least.
It's the reason why he looks so pained at that part especially I believe.
Man lets all say thank you to Thorfinn's convenient elephant-like memory. Guy remembers when you sneezed and why like 7 years ago.
Just seeing him try to bring her back to life like his father did, which he saw when HE WAS SIX AND SO CONFUSED ON WHAT HIS DAD WAS DOING AND IT WAS FOR ANOTHER SLAVE NO LESS
And Einar keeps on trying to give her hope 😢 he confesses how much he likes her, even now...
And oooooooooouuuugh here comes Ketil and my blood boils
SNAKE STOP SAVING HIS ASS
Einar trying to kill him and PUNCHING THORFINN when he tried to stop him hurts. My man would never raise a hand against Thorfinn but here he did nooo.
Bro but Thorfinn finally snapping him out of this oh so familiar rage and telling him "don't become like me. Don't drown in that nightmare I've had" *sobs*
*BIG SOB*
They make her a grave...and Thorfinn, once again, just conveniently remembers what Canute once said about his view on God and Love.
And now he just...wants to stop him???? Bro how????
He SAID THERE WOULD BE AT LEAST 50 MEN AND THE WORST CASE SCENARIO IS THAT HE'LL GET AWAY WITH HIS LIFE AT LEAST
STOP SAYING THAT UR SCARING ME
LEIF ALREADY LOST U LIKE 2X PLS DONT DO SOMETHING RECKLESS
IM LEGIT SCARED. WHATS HE GONNA DO? TALK????
Ugh...I'm so feelings it makes me sick

modern au dad askeladd except he's not an actual dad but this random kid shows up to his house every day and tries to have beef over the closed food store askeladd bought and turned into an antiquarian store. turns out the food store used to be run by the kid's father until he passed away which is very sad of course but also askeladd is not gonna cooperate with some brat that borderline harasses him day by day. only that he can't call the cops because he kinda has a turbulent past and if they find out he's filling his store with stolen goods it's gonna become a huge problem. and note to destiny, the stupid kid finding out is not that great either because now he has to hear it out if he doesn't wanna go to prison and also he should probably learn the demon child's name while he's at it. shenanigans ensue.
#askeladd agrees to honor the memory of thorfinn's dad and in return thorfinn won't call the cops on him#then they fight about how the honoring should be done#askeladd doesn't want to change his entire store's image only to make sure people don't forget about the former owner#and thorfinn isn't satisfied with just a sign with his dad's name on it which is as far as askeladd is willing to go#things change when some rich jackass wants to buy every building on the street and turn the whole area into a luxury resort#now thorfinn and askeladd have to work together because thorfinn doesn't want his dad's store to vanish#and askeladd doesn’t want HIS STORE to be torn down because smuggling the stolen stuff out of town would be a pain#(also affordable houses with basements big enough to keep the meth laboratory running are rare these days)#(also also thorfinn learns some kind of martial art in the dojo across the street which is whatever but the coach is really nice)#(like. REALLY nice.)#(with a nice voice and a nice face and nice muscles and as if that wasn't enough he makes a kickass apple pie)#“bjorn is single btw” - “shut up thorfinn” - “i'm trying to help” - “go bother your twink why dontcha”#yeah thorfinn actually manages to make friends with the son of that asshole that tries to get their houses#great for the brat of course but now askeladd has to deal with a snobbish teen criticizing his cooking#not to mention the nosey nanny slash accountant the rich idiot hired to keep his twink son entertained who's very curious about the basement#he also knows a lot about modern art which. not great. well great for him but not for askeladd.#anyway tldr#askeladd has to save a street while trying to raise two boys that aren't his not falling in love and keeping ragnar out of the meth basement#thorkell is the construction worker hanging around and refusing to do his job until sven pays him quadruple the original agreement#vinland saga#bjornskeladd#thornute#ragnar and thorkell are also there#and sven but no one wants him to

Tumblr media
[Thorfinn X F!Reader]
Words: 938
Summary: Thorfinn finds out the reader is indeed a girl. While doing so he ends up witnessing a pleasant sight.
Tumblr media
You didn't know how and why you ended up this way. Well, you did, though you believed it was Thorfinn's fault as he was the one that started it.
Currently, you were above him, his eyes focused on you. His chest rose and fell quickly, any slight movement of yours made him exhale sharply. His eyes do not dare to look down any further.
The water droplets that fell from your hair landed on him, He didn't mind the action and began to look away as seeing you this way began to be too much for him. Forcefully, you put your hands on his face making him face you.
"Why are you looking away now, Thorfinn? I swear, your eyes were all over me earlier. Is it because I caught you that you are embarrassed? You thought I would let it slide huh?"
He didn't say anything to your comment. Oh, how he wanted to push you away, but he simply couldn't, not that he really wanted to anyways.
He remembered how you had walked away earlier to who knows where. He had become bored as he was guarding the ships alone as the others left for a village nearby. He had made a split decision to go look for you, getting up from his seat he began to look for you.
He remembered how you wanted to go have a bath when you could, earlier when scouting the area, you two had found a stream. Going over to where the stream was, he assumed you would be there. As he got closer, he began to hesitate, he had his theories.
In all honesty, you looked like a girl. What if his thoughts were correct and you were? He told himself he wouldn't care; he didn't feel any attraction towards you. Well, that's what he would like to tell himself.
You were....different? There were certain times when he believed you were a girl. At times you acted like one, not to forget that one time you screamed at some random bug. Pushing those thoughts aside he made it, the only thing covering his vision were a few trees and bushes.
Peaking his head through a bush his eyes wandered throughout the area as his eyes finally landed on you. His eyes widened; his palms sweaty as his thoughts had become reality.
There you were your body wet from the water as you slicked your hair back away from your face. Thorfinn thought his eyes would have popped out of his sockets if he hadn't looked away. His face flushed as he looked away. Slowly his eyes trailed back to your body, he saw every curve and scar that littered your body.
His breathing became irregular as his mind wandered. He thought of how soft you would be, would you be mad if you found him staring?
He saw how any slight movement made your breasts move. He looked away, only to look at you again. He just couldn't tear his eyes off of you, he knew you were beautiful even before now. His newfound discovery only encouraged his heart to fall for you.
His mind was so far gone; he hadn't realized you had finished your bath. You began to dry yourself, looking up you realized someone was staring at you.
Thorfinn snapping out of it quickly ducked out of your vision lane. Cursing at himself for being such an idiot. He wondered if you had seen him.
"Who is there? I'll beat the shit out of you if you don't show yourself." You threatened
Covering yourself with the thin towel, you prepared yourself for any upcoming attack. Noticing slight movement from the bush in front of you. You quietly made your way towards it.
Thorfinn on the other hand began to choke on his spit as he began to sweat in nervousness. "Shit," He thought
Quickly he began to crawl away, making a note to not make too much noise. Unfortunately, he hadn't gotten far when he felt a foot press down on his back.
"Ha! Didn't expect to find you, Thorfinn."
You had managed to turn him on his back, straddling him so he wouldn't move. He tried to push you off, but you grabbed his hands and put them above him. Your still-wet hair dripped water onto him.
You noticed how he began to look away, making him face you, you spoke.
"Why are you looking away now, Thorfinn? I swear, your eyes were all over me earlier. Is it because I caught you that you are embarrassed? You thought I would let it slide huh?"
"....."
"Fine don't speak." Moving into a slightly more comfortable position, you noticed how his blush spread. "Hm? Does the sick pervert like this?" Moving again he groaned
"Get off me you bitch." He growled
"Really? You aren't even making an effort to move me off of you anymore. Admit it, you're enjoying this."
"Tsk, I told you to get off of me." Using his strength, he pushed you onto your back. As a result, he was now on top.
Realizing your current position, he closed his eyes as he let the moment sink in. His face showed how flustered he was. His body had moved on its own, grabbing your chin roughly he had smashed your lips with his.
His heart sped up as he felt you kiss him back, groaning into your mouth he began to whine as he couldn't get enough of you. As you opened your mouth, he pushed his tongue in. Savoring every inch of you he soon pulled away as he ran out of breath.

Hunter or the Hunted? | Hybrid Thorfinn (Part 2)
Tumblr media
A young Snow Leopard hybrid meets a Siren hybrid in the most unlikely of cases. Will a friendship blossom, or will the tides of fate pull them under?
Season 1: Thorfinn sees you after eleven years.
Hybrid Thorfinn x Reader
Hybrid Thorfinn (Part 1) Season 1: 6 year old Thorfinn meeting you.
1013: London Bridge
Over eleven years have passed since that faithful day, and the resentment within Thorfinn has only grown stronger. With each passing second, he came to hate Askeladd more. For what he took from him all those years ago. His anger was like an unquenchable thirst that could only be satiated by the blood of his fallen enemies.
Only one thing could temporarily snap him from his traumatized trance: the chance to duel Askeladd once again.
"Thorfinn. We have some work for you. Go bring me Thorkell's head."
Like a trained dog, he perks up at those words and scowls towards the man who ripped his life from its hinges. He replies snarkily and makes sure that the promise of the duel is kept if he completes his mission.
"Promise me you'll give me my reward."
"Okay. Okay. The same as always, right? You're so stubborn. Getting so worked up about a fight you can't win. Maybe you get it from your father."
Askeladd states this in a coy tone as he polishes a golden goblet he obtained from one of his many Viking raids. He knows exactly how to push Thorfinn's buttons and how to make him bend to his will. He was just a foolish kid with a dream of killing him, after all. It has a sense of idiotic nobility to it, although Askeladd would never tell him that.
"Don't forget, Askeladd."
"Only those who fight on the battlefield get what they desire. That's the way of the warrior. My head's not cheap, you know. I'll duel you as often as you like. Go bring me Thorkell's head."
● With a new mission, he did as he was told, like a good little Viking boy. He leaped from the ship and landed on the edge of the bridge. Something appears out of the corner of his eye. A tail? He almost ends up with a sword through him as he takes one of Thorkell's soldiers down. He has no time to be distracted by things that aren't possible.
● He meets eyes with the Draugr hybrid, a hulking zombie-like man with an insatiable thirst for blood just like Thorfinn. His nature was much more relaxed and open. There was no malice in his eyes toward his new opponent. Thorkell just wanted to fight Thorfinn. Just to fight.
● A swing, a hit, and a miss and Thorkell is looming over the injured young man with a broken wrist. Thorkell's Dragur instincts were getting the better of him, and he wanted to attack the hybrid; he wanted to cause him pain; he wanted to taste his blood.
● All of Thorfinn's hybrid senses were overstimulated. He can't think, move, or hear anything without wanting to rip his heart out of his chest. It is all just too much.
● Thorfinn is able to feel his leopard ears twitch and hear such a silent, longing, and angelic sound. A sound he hasn't heard in over a decade but is able to easily identify.
● Thorkell raises his giant log to bash Thorfinn's head into the side of the bridge when he stops. The entire battlefield stops and stands in a trance. It is as if time has stopped once again.
Just like when... No, you couldn't be alive...
That same euphoric and peaceful feeling from his childhood floods back into his body. He sits completely lax against the bridge as his muscles have fallen asleep on him. His ears droop towards the top of his head as his tail slumps near his thighs. His hazel eyes close completely as something pulls him deep underwater.
The song lasted for less than a minute, but it felt like an eternity to everyone on the battlefield.
They all stand around each other with bewildered expressions, unsure if fighting is what they should be doing. Did they just get seduced by a Sirens song? Is there still a Siren hybrid out there? Who's side does this Siren belong to?
None of the soldiers had any answers. So they did what all soldiers do, and they began their bloody masquerade once again.
● Askeladd already had a plan in his mind as he watched a silhouette of a hybrid swim with Thorfinn towards the shore. Oh, this is an opportunity that cannot be wasted.
● With Thorfinn back on the shore and soon to rejoin the band of Vikings he had grown accustomed to, he stares at you in awe and fear. As if his past just came back to haunt him like his dreams.
The crisp fall winds nip at your fatigued bodies as you both stare at each other without saying a word. Thorfinn notices all of the changes in your body and how you have grown into something more coveted than the last time you both met. You notice how he has gone from an innocent child to a broken warrior, barely in adulthood.
He makes the first move and kicks you back into the water before clutching his broken wrist and dislocated shoulder. He takes a step back to get further onto dry land. He keeps his body language closed off and protected from you.
"Thorfinn..." You try in a hopeful tone. As if the years you spent apart were nothing and you just wanted a friend again.
"Stay away, beast."
Those three words break your heart once again. They had been told to you an infinite number of times. Yet, it hurt the most coming from him. Was it because he was the only one to show you genuine kindness for so long?
He hisses through gritted teeth as his tail raises and his ears perk up. He turns around and promptly begins running back towards the band he has known for so long. He just couldn't take seeing you again. You were one of the reasons that he kept trying to duel Askeladd and win.
A reason to live. A reason to fight.
You have actually been alive for the entire time? It feels like a stab in the chest. Like you betrayed the few months of friendship he had with you so long ago.
It doesn't matter why you left—you still abandoned him.
You probably didn't care for him anyway. Just another siren looking to use someone for their own gain.
You are a beast—no better than Askeladd in his eyes.

Alright, so, chapter 211 of "Vinland Saga", and what I most feared would happen seems to be coming to pass.
I felt like the last, several chapters were building toward a serious rift developing between Thorfinn and Einar, with Einar's increasing anger and distress over Thorfinn's leadership decisions, and his seeming willingness to give up all they worked to attain, and we finally see that rift manifest, with Einar's refusal to retreat and his declaration that he'll fight to protect the village and the land they've cultivated, despite the Nords being outnumberd 3 to 1. That he rallies every other man in the village around him, bar a few, seems to seal the deal that this is the route that's being taken.
We don't yet know what's become of Thorfinn and Hild, but assuming they make it back to the village, I feel like Thorfinn's seemingly fatally wounded condition will only spur Einar on further toward wanting to take this course, and from there, I honestly don't see how his and Thorfinn's friendship can be salvaged.
This truly is the culmination of the tragic reality of war, I think, and a demonstration of the ways in which war destroys so many things, including the bonds we have with other people. And it also demonstrates, assuming Thorfinn's and Einar's friendship is irrevocably destroyed by this, the price Thorfinn has paid for his pacifism and refusal to fight. Einar's just fully turned on Thorfinn's philosophy and way of living here. They've come to an ideological impasse.
We also see that demonstrated in Bug-Eye's and Nisqua's seemingly doomed love, with her saying the Lun must not enter the land of the Nords, unable to follow him home. War tears people apart, and we're seeing that play out in very literal terms here.
I also see the idiot Ivar hasn't learned anything from getting his hand chopped off. It's a sad state of affairs to see Einar side with him, but maybe the most tragic thing about this is, Einar's stance and betrayal of Thorfinn's pacifism is completely understandable, given his history, even though he's wrong, given the fact he's lost his home again and again due to it being taken from him by force. It shows how people become radicalized. Einar and all of the people of the village gave up a lot, and worked incredibly hard to create their village and cultivate the land, to create a home for themselves. The Nords came to Vinland hoping to live in peace and without war, but circumstances and, sadly, just human nature conspired to destroy it all. Einar's unwillingness to just give it up and walk away is all too human and relatable. The fact he takes the bust of Arnheid and plants it in the ground, seeming to use her memory as motivation to fight, also shows one of the great tragedies of this situation. Arnheid died because of war, because of the devastation and consequences of war, and all that comes with it, and now, in his rage and anger at the situation, Einar is apparently twisting her memory to justify his refusal to yield. What happened to Arnheid always threatened to awaken in Einar this sort of vengeful rage at the injustice of the world, because of course what happened to her was totally unjust, and he understandably sees their situation now as unjust as well, likely equating fighting back against the Lnu somehow as fighting back against what happened to Arnheid. He can't bear to just let it pass anymore.
I really am interested to see how this impact and affects his relationship with Thorfinn. I think, if the story approaches it from a realistic perspective, this might be the beginning of the end of their friendship. And there's something uniquely tragic about that, since Einar is the first person to ever give Thorfinn a sense of purpose outside his own quest for revenge against Askeladd, that helped him develop into the pacifist philosophy that's dictated the last, several years of his life.
Awesome chapter, and it sets up such high stakes. Let's hope the next, few chapters live up to it.

hii! wishing you a lovely day and also so so curious how you’ve been enjoying vinland saga? who are your favourite characters and moments? 🩷
baby hi ^^ i had started vinland saga a few years ago but i dropped it after the second season because, hm, i feel like the anime made such an abrupt change, i thought i wanted to see more of the war and thorfinn's fight and revenge and in this s2 i meet a totally different thorfinn. someone passive, submissive, quiet.
I guess back then I didn't have the maturity or state of mind to appreciate season 2, but now I think I have only five episodes left and I can't express how much the quietness of this season has touched my soul.
as for favorite characters, only askeladd and thorfinn. others that i like a lot are snake and canute, although they are not favorites. and about my favorite scenes… god. i don't feel it's a specific scene but certain key moments in the anime where thorfinn realizes he has no enemies. for example one scene i really loved is when those idiots destroy his wheat crop, and he and einar fight them and thorfinn ends up unconscious and dreaming of his father; the dialogue, the scene, thorfinn's guilt, the regret of his deeds, the cause of everything he's done now biting at his heels, it's beautiful as explained in the series, along with the message that violence is the last option
another favorite moment is when thorfinn calls himself "empty" for no longer feeling vengeance and not knowing what to fill himself with now that he no longer feels anything.
thorfinn saying he wants to have a world without slavery is so important to me too, these are key moments for the peak of his evolution as a character to me
ohh! askeladd dying in his arms is so important to his character development too, what a scene omg.

Thorfinn on the big stage while everyone is yelling at him to kill a kid: Listen. I’m gonna tell you what I told a man named King Canute, at this really big farm where I used to be a slave. I told him, war bad. And he decided I was right. And the name of that farm... was Albert Einstein. Anyway war is canceled forever

Probably the only post I will make comparing BBC Ghosts to CBS Ghosts
I dunno I think it might be because the episodes are so short but I feel like everything is always just on a surface level with the CBS one. I feel like I don't really know any of the characters but at the same time it's portrayed like "ah classic Thorfinn, classic Isaac etc" because they all have re-occuring themes, so to speak. They lack depth but seriously they only have 20 minutes it would be incredibly difficult to flesh the characters out with as little time and with as many characters.
So it's a bit shallow and it relies on I don't want to say stereotypes but in a way... I mean everyone has 2-3 defining characteristics that make them identifiable. Most prominent example of course Isaac is a gay character and was in the army. That's his thing, his reactions to situations are based on one or the other or on both those things. Sas is sassy and talks modern despite being one of the old ghosts, his comedy moments revolve around that to give us the feeling of "ah classic Sas reaction". And really they all have their thing that even without much depth makes them recognisable and gives the feeling of knowing what that character is about. They are condensed. and that is not bad per se. Sometimes it's fun to just watch funny antics without much pathos.
however, personally, in comparison it makes me really appreciate the writing of the six idiots even more. Because BBC ghosts is basically a dramedy (is that a word?) . The characters are fleshed out they have a depth to them there, they are fully developed and they evolve and we get to see so many facets of them. There is a lot of pathos.
And it's such a very thin line to walk between the drama, the tragedies of these ghosts and the comedy that comes from this bunch of very different people being forced together. The comedy is more rooted in their characters and how they interact and react to outside influences.
And that's so clever and it makes you really feel like you know these characters and you connect with them on a deeper level because you get a deeper understanding of who they are. they are very three-dimensional characters
And tbh it's very easy to get lost in the drama? (or maybe that's just me) I mean they are tragic characters and I have so many emotions about them and I analyse them and try to apply that in fanfics or posts or play with my "findings and interpretations" of them and I basically scream my emotions about them into the void.
And sometimes makes it easy to forget hat at the end of the day it's just a really, really funny show.
I remember having said before on some plotlines that I saw in the synopsis of episodes: "omg how on earth will they make that funny?? " and so far they've not always made it funny, they made it fucking hilarious!
and I love that because sometimes when I get to hung up on the pathos I just simply watch the show and laugh my ass off because they balance it out so incredibly well (whereas fandom obviously tends to focus on the pathos a bit more)
somewhere there is a conclusion in this...
a yes.
I like both. I will continue to watch both and I enjoy both. but on a personal level I just vibe with the BBC version more because of the aforementioned reasons which boil down to omg amazing writing, amazing characters, i'm a sucker for pathos, I'm emotionally so invested in these characters and yeah love the humour.

Vinland Saga Episode 21 Take
Spoilers below:
not much to say since it was a more character-driven episode
hence why it felt shorter in general
kinda??? not exactly proud??? but I do felt something when Olmar straight up said 'I started this and I will end it. I don't care if it ignoble as an nordic man'. Finally someone said something.
Snake accompanies him and says don't worry I won't laugh at you 🥺 kinda sweet ngl I slowly start to like Snake more and more
fuck Thorgil but for real dude. I am sooooo afraid he wont listen and just go on a one-man killing spree anyway.
additionally, seeing all these 1), corpses of slaves put in rows like that, many decapitated and butchered is just....*sucks in breath* not good
2), seeing all these men dragged FROM THE SHORE TO THE HILL TO THE GUESTS PLACE while MISSING LIMBS AND STABBED IN THE GUT is just....bro, ouch. That's uh, probably how it went back then (I have a sruface-level knowledge of medieval times).
All the men, gutted and leaving trails of blood, are left there in this tiny space on blankets or the ground with pools of blood left and right. Tools, bandages and buckets are bloody and the women or whoever did not partake in the battle have to patch them up in such painful ways. Holding several people down and having no one as help but each other. And then you just hope the casualties will not get any higher as the hours pass by.
THANK YOU THE GRANDMASTER IS OK
Snake looks good in a man bun, he should wear it more often
I just realized if the Ketil family gives up they will just become poor...but at least they'd live.
Thorfinn is so stupid and sweet. The way he talked and moved, bowed to the soldier is just...is that the same Thorfinn from s1????? What
Also stupid cuz he thought this could work
Einar to the rescue but also not really.
BRO how DARE Canute say he doesn't wanna meet Thorfinn. How DARE he say he doesn't know him wtf
YOU WERE TOLD THAT HE - HIM, THORFINN, SON OF THORS YOUR FORMER GUARD - WANTS TO STOP THE FIGHTING
AND YOURE LIKE "WHO?"
also 100 PUNCHES???? DOES FINNY BOY NOW JUST HAVE TO ENDURE SOME WHIPPING AND THEN HE GETS TO TALK TO THE KING???? I JUST?????
ough I just hope this is gonna turn out alright.

Sweet Things Thorfinn Would Do For You On Your Period
A little edit kind of 'requested' for another female/afab scenario. TW: Periods, mention of pms, bleeding, blood, mentioning pregnancy once, throwing up, passing out, general pain
The concept of having one's period was mentioned and I wanted to do some research before writing anything considering the story is Based on real history.
Now...things wouldn't be easy when it comes to you being part of Askeladd's band.
The men may be dumber than a sack of hammers but they do know what a period is and also know you will get it once a month. I'm pretty sure Thorfinn is aware too.
In fact, if you don't get it (or soak it up rather successfully) there will be a lot of 'Huh's?' Hey, it's been a while and you don't look like you've had your abdomen stabbed, ain't it time? You sure you're okay?
They know you HAVE to bleed. It aint healthy if you don't! (Unless of course...you are pregnant. Many will side eye Thorfinn before you yell out that you are bleeding, idiots. You are just not letting it ruin your clothes).
As mentioned, Thorfinn is aware too but won't immediately notice anything. Rather he'd have a small heart attack if he sees any blood on you before the logical thought of 'period' enters his mind right after and he calms down. If you go into the bushes for the fourth time today, he'd raise a brow and his concerns before going 'Oh.' right after.
Will just let you do what you need to do. He'd keep watch if you are in the bushes or lake and when you hiss in pain, he'd ask if you are okay.
He tends to be a bit more attentive but that's about it. To him all it means you'll have to deal with it for an amount of time. He himself doesn't know how to deal with it either.
Which can be a problem when you do need help. You could have profuse pain and blood (which WILL scare Thorfinn. He knows it can be normal but the way you are suffering and the amount of blood still makes him a bit uneasy) and all he knows is that cloths can be helpful. He'll get some, make some himself or in some cases, will even steal some during raids of the other vikings.
Thorfinn doesn't raid at all. All he needs are essential things which he can easily get himself. So imagine him there in an hut he saw a woman eacape from and explore each nook and cranny for some clean cloths. He prefers not to think about the original owners - you need it and thats important.
If you met at an early age, he would have done so as well, especially in the beginning.
Unfortunately, that seems to be the only thing he can do for you. He cant help when it comes to pain, which also comes in many variations.
When your clutching your stomach hard and can't get up, the blonde panics a little. He hoists you up on his back, piggy-back style, and carries you wherever you need to go. You may complain that he could get blood on him but he doesn't mind and tells you so. When you say you really can't stand straight, Thorfinn? panics? A bit? More? Whaddya mean you can't even stand straight? Bro, you're scaring him.
He'd be extra careful not to...bend or...whatever else could happen that causes you pain while he carries you.
But when you straight up throw up on the rails of the ship? Nuh-uh, you cannot convince him that can happen.
Startled a bit before rubbing your back. He holds your hair as well and just...prays that is a one-time thing. Like, what is happening inside your body?
He offers you his share of food, telling you to shut up and eat. No, it's fine, you can have it. Surely it has to be of help after you vomitted your entire lunch out.
And if you REALLY want to scare him to death, it happens when you might pass out.
What are you doing PASSING OUT?!
Thorfinn won't ever yell or scream or be demeaning to you because of your period ever, but he cannot help the confusion and fear settling in whenever something happens. He bottles it up instead.
He is at first not going to come to the conclusion that you passed out because of your period and will instead shake you like crazy to wake up, unknowingly causing you more pain.
And now, to the scenario which was my only reason to write these period key parts:
Askeladd hears a hard thump and looks over to see Thorfinn panicking and shaking you awake. The men watch with uneasy, eyes, speechless. With a frustrated sigh, Askeladd makes his way up to you two.
The moment he hears him, Thorfinn draws his dagger at the man and barks at him to stay the hell away. What could he possibly want?
With a roll of his eyes, the man points at your unconcious form and tells him what the hell he is doing rather. Doesnt he now that shaking you like a rag doll is only hurting you more?
Thorfinn screams at him as Askeladd kneels down and lays you down on your back, putting a cloak under your head as a pillow. He gives you something to drink, prepares something akin to soup with a few herbs and tells Thorfinn to shut up and learn.
He watches him pour something in a bowl and attempting to have you drink from it - before the leader could do anything, Thorfinn has his hands around his neck, pushing Askeladd to the ground with gritted teeth. "What in the hell do you think you're doing?!"
Askeladd shoves the lad off and points towards the blood around you. "You can't even help your friend. She's bleeding and unconcious and you're holding down the man who knows his way around women at least."
Thorfinn's breath hitches and he watches with wide, attentive eyes and a shaking dagger in his hand as Askeladd is tending you. When asked how he knows all these things, the man cheekily answers that in his years he had experiences with a few women for more than a few months. The men whoop for him.
In reality, he knows all this by having tended his sick mother ever since he was lad himself. Ill and alone, abandoned in a stable with manure and rats left and right. She survived so far until he was fourteen...so he reckons he's teaching Thorfinn something right.
While disliking this little lesson, Thorfinn takes it to heart as he watches you get better.
Cloths, food, herbs and salves...he'll get it for you. Either by means of foraging or stealing. All for you.
Tells you to always inform him on how you are feeling. If something hurts, here's the salve. If you can't get up, he'll carry you. He also mused if he should wash your blood-stained clothes but always asks you beforehand.
The fact that you could get infected (which is something he didn't know and Askeladd told him) makes him even more determined to keep his eye on you. There are so many ways to die and he can't have you be gone through something like that.
So, so helpless when you are feeling emotional (pms). You are depressed, upset or are crying because of...nothing particular. He is definitely NOT going to Askeladd but is going to ask you what you want him to do. What do you want, what do you need? This is all so confusing to him, just tell him what he's gotta do.
It doesn't matter if he doesn't understand it, don't bother explaining. Just give out your request. Anything.
He's not going to tell you how much it hurts seeing you like this.
Need a hug? Uh, he doesn't do hugs but he'll comply. Unsurely and carefully wrapping his arms around you with zero weight on your body. His skin is barely touching yours. Afraid he might hurt you.
Lean on him and cry. Talk about anything, he won't get it but will listen. Ask for anything and he'll get it.
Again, he does so really carefully like you are made of the thinnest glass. Thorfinn isn't the most affectionate even when he tries.
If you give him your thanks during pms, he will be...stumped. And his heart is beating fast. What are you talking about?
He'll accept your words quietly, patting your back before telling you to keep resting. Just a bit more and everything will be okay.

No, I Don't Want It, I Don't Want It, I Don't Want It...
No more was this a viking band - the majority has been killed by their own leader.
This was now the newest vessel of the youngest prince of Denmark. Leading of what remained of the men with Askeladd being his right-hand man.
Sailing along with all the tricks in the book that he had, all of which he had learned in his life felt like it was meant for a moment like this, for a future king like Canute.
And you had no choice but to go along with it if you wanted to keep on living.
Askeladd seemed more alive than ever. Youthful even as he grinned and spoke and chatted with Thorkell and Canute as if he had been waiting all his life for an opportunity like this. You and Thorfinn had never seen him this upbeat before, unless he was with Björn.
The man in question was still on a mat, resting though.
So in his usual fashion, the older man confidently stood on the boat with his typical shit-eating grin while crossing his arms. He spoke with carefreeness to the prince as they neared a dock in York. Left and right a crowd congegrated at the incoming ship, whispering among themselves on the return of prince Canute.
Yet as loud as their curioustiy was, deadly silent was the arrow that pierced the vulnerable chest almost precisely.
A thud ensued and a scream from your direction caused a commotion from the docks. The ship hurried to land and brought the wounded royal quickly to aid. While few ran over to him, another hurried away from the scene.
Clothes were ripped apart as someone abruptly stopped from taking out the arrow. The weapon was deep but what truly caused many to gasp and back away, was Canute himself approaching the dying woman.
You watched with a glare of anger (or perhaps pity? Indifference? Shock? Disgust?) as Askeladd casually trailed after Canute while letting out the obvious elephant in the room that someone apparently wanted him killed.
The leader made sure to purchase a slave with a form and stature similiar to the prince to act as bait. He ordered you to cause a commotion on land to have the culprit panic and escape from the scene - and then have Thorfinn silently get rid off him. To show the assasins that Askeladd is well aware of their presence and capable of taking them all out.
He has his tools for it, after all.
"Play the dumb but genuine witness," He grinned as he pointed at you before shooing you and Thorfinn out of his sight. Do your part and you'd all safely arrive at York. For now.
The perpetrator was cut down and the commotion that was supposed to bring the attention on the dying woman unfortunately was also brought to Thorfinn.
Still with his arm in a sling, he found himself surrounded by a few guards who also shadowed the culprit but put the blame on the young blonde instead. You hurried to him but even so, your own acting wasn't really able to save him.
"As if!" One pointed out, "You're just a kid, just like him! Obviously you two are in this together so you are trying to save his skin!"
"I told you, it wasn't me. It was him, he had the corssbow in hand."
Still, the guards were not relenting, drawing their swords at the two of you. Behind them was a much smaller man who called out, though his voice was way too meek compared to the spitting insults of the guards.
One insult too many and one step too close to you, and Thorfinn took one out with a single biff. As intimidating as the men seemed, they quickly turned tail and ran off at the sight of his two daggers.
"Thorfinn Karlsefni!"
The young lad who took Thorkell down with just two knifes - gossip turned real at the sight of the beaten blonde.
The scene clearing out so fast left you a bit relieved - perhaps speechless even. Would tension like this cease so quickly in the future too, whenever the name 'Karlsefni' was uttered?
Still, one stayed - the little man in the corner you had noticed. His green tunic was well kept for someone his age, short with half of his light hair already gone on his head. With his moustache spikey but kept short as well as his shining but wide eyes, you doubted this old geezer could pose as a threat.
"...Thorfinn...?" He muttered in a horse voice, "Thorfinn...Son of Thors? Are you the son of Thors?" With each word, he gingerly approached. You watched as Thorfinn merely rose a brow before his own eyes widened.
"...Uncle Leif?"
You watched with bated breath.
The hand on your weapon had long ceased shaking and resting upon it yet still; It was balled into a fist at your side.
Your eyes darted between the two men and their exchange of the past. With your back to the wall behind you and Thorfinn resting on the edge of the dock as this 'Leif' never seemed to stop talking about Thors.
About Iceland.
About family. An 'Helga' and an 'Ylva'.
"That does not concern me." Thorfinn uttered as he got up and adjusted his arm sling, "I am asking you about Vinland. Father wanted to go there and I want to know if you did anything about it."
"But Thorfinn," Leif stepped closer, his arms open as his eyes threatened to tear up again, "You don't need to be here. You want your revenge but what about your mother? She's been getting worse and worse ever since you got taken from us. Ylva has been worried sick as well, you could go back and see them. I'm sure Helga will feel better-!"
"I said that doesn't concern me!"
Swiftly the blonde spun back with dagger in his good hand. His face had quickly contorted into sheer rage once again. "I'm here to take my revenge! Nothing else!"
Seeming to lose air, Leif sobbed as his voice shook. "It's been enough! We've lost you since you were six, Thorfinn, six! You have been in this hell long enough, we can go back home! Go back to Iceland!"
You could feel it. Feel the familiar ire ooze out of Thorfinn. A hatred unrivaled and unequalled in a way you have never seen nor felt in your young years.
"Enough?" His tone was akin to a growl, like a switch.
"It will never be enough! Have you not seen it, how Father died?! As long as this damn bastard is eating, breathing and shitting, it'll never be enough! You hear me?!"
He tried to take a deep breath and in the next moment, grasped your hand and marched back to the boat with you in tow. His grip was tight enough to hurt you. Yet that was the least of your concerns.
Looking back, you could see the man tear up.
"I'll stay...I'll stay right here until you change your mind!"
Never have you heard of such absurdity before.
"I won't give you up, Thorfinn!"
A man from the past - a mere, old, harmless merchant - insisting on bringing someone back home, someone like Thorfinn. To have looked and searched for him. Embracing him tight like a son and weeping at the sight of him. Alive and safe.
"Let's go back home! Please!"
Such bravery, such determination for someone like Thorfinn. That is love, is it not?
You'd certainly feel loved if someone like that was searching for you.
"Let's go back to Iceland!"
I Don't Want It But I Know No One's There...
The day is quick to be over and morning approaches yet again.
Today at noon is the meeting with the king and all his investors and allies. Askeladd insisted on being there as well but you couldn't care enough about the details of high and mighty masteries.
About spying, about rumors, about hired assassins and slaves only to get rid of them...
You would love to say that Thorfinn shares your sentiment and he does but still approves on playing a puppet while you stay rigid and firm on the stage. Not moving.
You simply had watched. Watched as bands fought over a prince, watched as he tamed them like beasts, watched along as the band was reduced to mere three people that serve a royal now. Watched as Thorfinn continued to play along and along and along...
He was as focused as ever today. Today he insisted on getting his duel and revenge.
You sat still and watched. Perhaps a part of you adjusted his arm sling yet again. Out of kindness, out of pity, out of fear, anger, exhaustion...
You just didn't want him to die.
Gods, would it be awful. Would it be foolish if he were to die now.
Though it was noon, the sky was dark. Clouds forebode a storm or blizzard and Askeladd complained about the awful timing. How it had to be so close to the meeting...that two stubborn idiots insisted on dueling him now.
You went up the hill, next to Canute and Thorkell. Both of them said nothing as you invited yourself to their company.
Thorkell, who almost crushed you. Your shorter, younger body that of an insect compared to him, as well as in his eyes.
Canute, who was too bashful to glance at you. Someone who grieved and cried while clinging on your sleeve now seemed like a different, stronger person than you.
And the second dour fool...Björn crawled up the snowy path with nothing but a sword and his wound. He needed to go first and Thorfinn seemed to grant him that wish, watching from the sidelines.
Though the duel was quickly over. So fast and one-sided that it could barely be called a match, let alone a battle. Even as Askeladd held a sliver of shine and love in his eyes as Björn died in his arms, as he confessed his wish and reciprocated it with his own...as he gave him the final but merciful blow to send him to Valhalla...none could find it in their hearts to really feel anything for the old man anymore.
"...Awfully sorry to have kept you waiting, lad." He threw the blood off his sword with a clean swing after he covered the body.
While walking over to Thorfinn almost like in a trance, your eyes never left the snow sullied in blood nor the body growing ever so cold or the sword in Askeladd's hand.
"I shall be witness to this duel and as the prince here, I shall also be the one to decide when it ends." Canute spoke in a loud tone, it was hard to believe he only used to mumble. You didn't look back but felt thankful that he went out of his way to ensure Thorfinn's safety.
Even if that meant not satisfying him and his lust for vengeance.
And here you were in front of Thorfinn, yet again tugging and adjusting his arm sling - which he had also wrapped his dagger around, refusing to have it any other way while dueling the older man - to make sure it stayed put and firm. Firm enough to not have the weapon fall out of its grip and to not have the stubborn fool injure his arm more than needed.
He watched silently, his glare the moment he laid eyes on Askeladd today not yielding. Not softening at the sight of you as they ususally do.
Wordlessly you tug and tie and press the dagger deeper into the grip. Though your work is done, and even needless to an extent, your cold hands stayed on the sling. Cold, bare hands red from the chilling winter day. Hands that have seen and caused chaos gingerly carressed the sling and bandages alongside the blade. Your eyes never left it and neither did Thorfinn's.
No one commented a thing. All waited patiently for both men to begin.
Slowly, ever so slowly and reluctantly, your hands glided down his sling and swung back to your sides. Finally, you looked back at him and stared into his hardened eyes with your softened ones.
"...Don't die. Please..." Was all you could muster after an enduring silence. Thorfinn only left you there as he went up to Askeladd.
The sword is thrown into the snow.
Daggers in both hands, one broken.
Still, as he stood there, ready and unarmed with his neck so delicate and vulnerable, Thorfinn got pummeled nicely; One fist after another as he was headbutted, kicked, uppercutted, held by his hair and biffed until his face was red, blue and black. It was hard to watch.
Thorkell and Canute chatted about bets and strength. The giant of a man teasing you even for probably being the type to bet it all on your loyal friend and buddy Thorfinn even as he is getting the daylights beaten out of him. You refused to talk to him.
You never uttered a word during the duel nor to the other two, yet Canute could easily tell how tense you were with each punch Askeladd threw at Thorfinn. You were just watching with bated breath and a racing heart.
Even though this one-sided brawl was easily, so, so easily in Askeladd's favor, the leader grew more and more frustrated with each swing.
A fool. An idiot. Stubborn and small-minded, braying like a blind animal and lashing out in the most childish way he has ever seen. A real warrior.
How he wished he'd just get into his thick skull, use a bit of his brain! Just a damn bit for once, that complete moron!
Yet as he kicked him for one last time, having the young man fall head-first into the snow, knocked out cold, he rose his sword over his head, only to quickly raise his other arm the moment he heard stomping through the snow.
Canute had called out to you as you rushed towards the man with your own blade - cutting into his hand as he stopped the weapon from piercing through his chest.
Your glare was as dark as thunder and so akin to Thorfinn's. It made him laugh and just as frustrated.
"Calm down now. I didn't even harm a hair on his head." Askeladd gestured to tip of his sword dug into the snow, right next to Thorfinn's head. Swiftly, the man grabbed your own blade, pushing you away with a shove and shaking the blood off his palm. He eyed you with a matching scowl. "Don't get worked up over an fool like him. He'd just cause you trouble."
You paid no attention to his words. Throwing your weapon aside, you were fast as a storm, kneeling by Thorfinn's side and turning him around, holding him in your arms.
"Thorfinn! Thorfinn!" As you attempted to waken him, Canute followed close behind you, yelling out that the duel was over. Askeladd did not reply but instead, took a seat on a few bricks of an abandonded bridge. With a scoff he watched the young blonde regain conciousness but even as he awoke in your arms, the simpleton just jumped to his feet despite his injuries and whipped his head around in search for his prey.
Even as Canute explained the outcome and even as your hands and arms supported him like a mother, as Thorfinn looked dumbfounded at your hurt gaze at the sight of his blue, bloodied and pummeled face...he was still looking for Askeladd.
His blue eyes watched as you tried to wipe the blood off his nose, at the mere graze of your touch had the young viking jump in pain. It must hurt so much to see him make a fool of himself time and time again. Nevertheless, he keeps on crawling back to Askeladd and it sickened him.
For the first time in a long while, Askeladd called out your name in a calm and placid manner.
"Don't waste your enegry on an moron like him. He keeps on getting these injuries because of his own stupidity...you're better off without him."
At that Thorfinn let out an offended groan - Askeladd gestured to his outburst with an unimpressed sneer. "As I said. The idiot brays, then takes out his weapons and thinks himself the hunter as he charges head on while going for my neck. He thinks he's already won...by just roaring out a little victory chant and throwing himself into battle, just like all these self-proclaimed warriors do. They've all lost sight of the nice things in battling."
"Björn was right...I hate all warriors like that. Bastards that take, rampage, pillage, kill and then rob an entire culture of all that they had. Especially those Nordics...those vikings." Taking a deep breath, he called out calmly once again. "Laddie. Let me tell you...how to really murder an abhorrent bastard."
Don't Let Me Go, I Have Nothing Left To Lose...
His eyes never left him. Nor you.
The tale was as old as time for him, funny even in a way. A past that shaped him and all his actions he has done and will ever do but simply reciting it all brought a few chuckles out of him from the memories. The treatment. His mother and her belief of an returning king. The never-ending mountains of ash. The fools of half-brothers he used to have. All the wealth from the murder. The soft 'Why?' as his father met his end.
He didn't even think he'd remember that much!
But it all did happen...he remembered the respect he earned and how he dug her grave in Wales. It is all still there, he hoped.
The kid knew how to kill him now...he wondered if he would actually suceed after hearing his advice.
"So you know now, Thorfinn if you listened to me of course. I've managed to kill my most hated enemy within two years and still here I stand about ten later. Use your wits for next time, you damn numbskull." The man had long stood up and marched over to Björn's cold body. He threw one brief glance over his shoulder to Thorfinn - who was simply fuming in his own blood.
"Shut it!" He got up as briskly as he could from your arms, "Shut up, bastard! I'll, I'll kill you! Until my final breath, I'll rip out your heart! I will definitely-!"
Another clang. The sword hit the snow, it's tip dug deep within the earth. With more fiersome intent than him feigning the final blow on Thorfinn. If you were not mistaken, you reckoned to hear the metal crack.
"Damn it all. You're really pissin' me off."
In an attempt to control his anger, Askeladd balled his shaking hand as he scowled like a wounded beast at Thorfinn. The latter was startled, you noted.
"...You talk about killing and killing and killing. Yet you haven't achieved a single thing. Look at you, lad. You're covered in blood, snot and saliva, it's disgusting. You had so many, so many chances to kill and gut me yet you never used your damn brain for any of them! Look at you!"
With a sudden shout he pointed at him. You and Canute could not help but jump in fright. "You're quick, you're strong, you're talented! I can't deny that...and still you insist on going off on your emotions and losing each little duel you so wholeheartedly persist on! Keeping on losing your cool and brainlessly charging forward. You had so many chances, Thorfinn, and you had equally as much chances to get killed for your brainless behaviour if it weren't for them!" His digit went to point at you. Your breath got caught in your throat.
"If it weren't for the only damn friend you got in this messed up world, you'd be long dead! You owe them more than I owe you! And still...they're gonna end up being the death of you, too."
With a sharp gasp, Thorfinn once again swung his dagger at him. However, he struggled to catch his breath. "Don't bring them into this! This, this is between you and me! It always has been!"
"Don't be laughable, boy!" Askeladd bellowed at him, "It always has been until they arrived! Little dog that you are, you clung onto their hip since then and today as well! Your little attachment will get you killed, fool!"
Oh, how long Askeladd had waited to say that straight to his face! Thorfinn's attachment to you will end up killing him! And what good does that bring when a corpse can't avenge his father?
You watch with a darting, wide gaze between the men. Thorfinn kept denying it, throwing his tantrum with the same threats as before - the same threats he has been spitting his way since he was six years old - only for Askeladd to point out every. Single. Thing. He has ever done for you, sacrificed for you and only you. For your survival. For your honor. Everything. He can't fool him, boy.
"It all started with your absurd, small 'trades'. Yes, I've seen it as you threw them that bunny as amends. I've noticed you bringing in the horses, fix your gear together, having each other's back on the battlefield as you barely even acknowledged our existence. You think I haven't been paying attenton aside from our duels?"
He saw it in the early dawn of spring when you hunt and Thorfinn shared his prey with you. He witnessed it in the deadly cold night of winter when you are huddled and cuddled close together. He saw it when Thorfinn's dear dagger is in your hands as if it was nothing and the lad doesn't see anything wrong with it. Damn it, he sees it in his smile! He smiles when near you, at you and is brought only by you!
Boy, you are laughable!
"And when I told you to go fetch His Highness from Thorkell's men in an exchange for a chance to kill me, you just had to turn around and save their skin. You are as predictable as I thought, Thorfinn." Askeladd couldn't help but snicker, "I've given you so many chances and you all threw them away the moment your little friend just seemed to be in danger. You can't even focus on your goal, idiot, you kept on prioritizing a life that won't help you achieve it. Maybe if they'd never joined, you would have long gotten your revenge."
Askeladd calmed down enough to grin and jest, "But no," He feigned disappointment and shook his head, "You still refuse to have a bit of your wits about you. When I threaten your friend's life, you throw yourself in front of them. When I tell you to fight Thorkell the Tall, you do so only to be the one to chop off my head. And now...you are here. And so am I. Really, you've helped me along the way, Thorfinn...you've been an useful tool."
The young viking stepped back with a choked breath and a gut-wreching hole in his stomach that seemed to take his heavy heart.
"You're like a dog chasing after food. I should be thankful to Thors."
Everything seemed grow hazy around. The cold, the figures talking away, the ground underneath him. The air seemed more piercing with every breath he so depserately struggled to fill his lungs with, fill it to live but that seemed like a task too great for him. Pain shot through his broken arm and his legs gave out as the snow softened his fall. Everything dislimned before him as if all this never happened at all.
You caught him before he could fall into the snow and suffocate. His body freezing and heavy against you. The second dagger slipped out of his hand.

Hello. Could you do a Thorfinn (16/17) x Fem/gn Reader? where Reader is a very affective touching person and when it's bored randomly give him a kiss in the cheek, take his hand or hugs him?
S1!Thorfinn With An Affectionate Reader
okay real talk, I have been pondering about this request for weeks.
Generally if we look at Thorfinn's character, he wouldn't ever be really fond of such open and direct, bold affection.
The lad's a viking. A killing, stupid, stubborn, naive, bratty viking who goes through hell and beyond just to get a duel with the killer of his father.
BRO HE SAVES HIM JUST TO KILL HIM LATER
I mean??? If that does not tell you what kind of misguided weirdo he is...
Oh, well. We love him anyway ❤️
And you do as well.
Whether or not your affections will even be TOLERATED, depends on your relationship and closeness with him.
If you are close, he will hold your hand back. However, he sees these kinds of gestures in a more functional way.
Alone in the dark of a stormy night with only this weak light guiding you? Of course Thorfinn would hold your hand. You're gonna get lost if he doesn't.
Your fingers are blue and stiff from the winter cold? He offers his warm palm or else you'll freeze, idiot.
But just holding hands out of??? Enjoyment and???? Affection and care and love???
Are you stupid or somethin'????
Well, since you're already holding his hand he might as well hold yours back with a pout, looking away. He'll let you know that you are being overly and unnecessarily gushy.
The blonde would however, be too embarrassed to initiate any hand-holding on his own. It's just not something he does.
Hugging? Well, if you are, again, about to freeze to death, he can hug you. Don't die now.
But to show one's appreciation and care??? Man, you really are stupid.
Unlike holding hands, hugging is something Thorfinn would only allow in privacy. Hugging at the sight of the rest of the band would just bring in unneeded banter and comments. So stop being so childish and hold out your little 'huggies' until you two are out of their sight. Cannot be that hard, right?
Once you embrace him, the lad will begrudgingly hug you back quite gently. He is silent and stiff while avoiding your gaze. If you do it often enough or are even extra cuddly, you might catch him with red cheeks.
KISSES ON THE CHEEK? OKAY THERE ARE NO USES FOR THAT!
No holding warm, no losing each other in the darkness - there is literally NO good reason for you to...kiss him!
And don't you DARE even THINK about doing it around the others! He'd rather get punched ten times in the face rather than having to bear those comments!
No matter how close you are, again, Thorfinn will not initiate anything himself, especially kissing. In fact, like a little boy, he will smear the spot you kissed off - as if you had just infected him with a disease or cooties (a disease called love, Thorfinn~)
Hand-holding and hugs are tolerable but he will really start complaining at kisses. What do you even think you are doing? Can't you just...act normal for once?!
He complains and fusses though do not miss his flushed cheeks. The blonde will never admit it but his body is letting his true feelings slip out.

Yo! I have this regarding Thorfinn and reader and bro when I tell you I fell in love with your writing. I DID. I FELL HARD. You write Thorfinn so accurately and I thought it was beautiful aswell as how you wrote canute but like I said I got this random thought in my head
What if we get a poly relationship or friendship between Thorfinn Canute and reader, what doy ou think it would be like and how do you think it will start and how will be like? For me personally I like do little imagines that they all like eachother equally, bit of fighting here and there but even if it's not going to be an actual romantic relationship between the three I just like the thought of Thorfinn gaining his own little trio
I would like to hear your opinion on this one!
(It's oki if you ignore this<33 have a good day!!)
AAA almost forgot about this but it's always ok to ask things or to share your own takes!!!
Sob sob you fell in love???? 😭😭🥰🥰 thank you so much! I do hope I will be able to continue having people fall so hard they can't get up
Ngl I do pat myself on the shoulder for writing Thorfinn in character (only cuz I am so obsessed I have to understand him 👁👄👁) but it makes me happy that Canute is seen like that, too!
Hm, I never thought of poly relationships but I think for it to start (and Thorfinn having an Trio is super cute, especially if its chaotic) I think it works best when Thorfinn and Reader are still Canute's guards. HOWEVER they'd have to do more than just travel (find themselves in shenanigans) AND Ragnar would have to be away a lot. The man is a massive mother hen who would not allow Canute to grow, let alone speak to the other two on his own.
For the vibe I'd say it's similiar to Spongebob, Patrick and Sandy (with Canute switching between Sandy, the voice of reason and Spongebob, who curiously goes along with Patrick's plans).
Thorfinn is 100% Patrick with his stupid ideas 😭 his overconfidence in his intelligence and strength causes him to think he's better than anyone. He thinks ALL the choices he makes are the best for Reader and Canute but no, no they're not. And when someone points it out that no, he's dumb, he's like "the inner machinations of my mind are an enigma" -> gets beaten to a pulp by Askeladd
And meek Canute just goes with it cuz he don't know better 😭 or he's like I've got no choice I have to trust these idiots to keep me safe
After his awakening he'd wake up as Sandy with an actual mind and thinking for himself. He'd often chastises the both of you for your poor decision-making.
And Reader definetely switches between Spongebob and Sandy too. Either they talk Thorfinn out of stupid things and get him outta trouble or just goes along with it completely because they trust him so much and are like 'do it or die - all with Thorfinn, my bestie!' while talking Canute into it too with the promise that they will look out for him.
It's just
Thorfinn does stupid and reckless thing -> Reader joins and drags Canute with them-> Canute cries not wanting to be there and tries to be the voice of reason
Or
Thorfinn does reckless stuff-> Reader gets mad and chastises him for it, makes better plan -> like a child of divorce Canute looks between them and just tries to get along with the best thing and wants to please both of them.
