His smile flickers into something a little strained before he manages to smooth his expression out again, and he casts his gaze about the flat helplessly trying to think of something to say. He's not... he's not good at the nurturing thing. Henry can at least pretend, but he's fucked off for the week to Barcelona, and abandoned James here to. To conduct himself normally. Not that he can even manage that anymore.

"Well, alright," he finally manages to sound agreeable enough. "Lots of people have things wrong with them. Is it... erm... Is it a physical wrongness?" He kind of hopes it is, at the very least he knows he can manage some basic first aid. "Or is it a kind of, uhm, mental wrongness?" Wait. "Hold on, sorry. Maybe emotional wrongness is a better word there... I'll put the kettle, on, shall I?"

"Princess James!," Maya yelled before clutching onto James's better side still conscious of his knee. "The skeleton army now comes with gun," she said proudly when she pulled back and showed off her water gun that was almost too big for her.

"Yeah only cost a months worth of the swear jar," DJ grumbled, Alexa had run off with her mother, something about boy talk that he had to fight the urge to roll his eyes over. "You handling the heat alright?" he asked turning his attention to James and giving him a subtle once over.

Phoenix burst out laughing when Jay showed him the tiny pig she'd bought, half tempted to ask if he could buy it off her and give it any of the officers he was friends with. He figured they'd take it in good fun considering the fake rivalry between the departments over the years. Dahlia was on her way out with her girls when Maya Cruz-Dutton whipped back around.

"Awwww it's so cute!" she said taking it carefully when Jay let her hold it and watching the way the light reflected off the metal.

Phoenix was shaking his head in amusement before spotting James hobbling nearby, raising a brow at the notepad he was flipping through. Walking over he gave half a wave, "Everything alright...wait. Where's your cane? You're as bad as Duck and I ain't saving you from a Jonesy lecture."

"No! Nonono~ Ow!" All his pleading fell on deaf ears and with one mighty blow, the alchemist apprentice was thrown to the hard ground. Immediately he started to crawl backwards, but his pathetic attempt at an escape met a sudden end when he bumped into a wall. "Fuck. Please, I'm sorry!"

Uma was frantic. She had lost her phone, and needed to find it. She was looking everywhere, and not paying attention to where she was going. She yelps when she runs into somebody. "Shit!"

"Wait, damn--" He carefully drops her arm from where they're linked and turns back to the door, rummaging around for his keys to unlock it once more. "Sorry, sorry, we're leaving, let me just feed Ismene. Henry likely won't be home tonight."

The pair of them are dolled up for a bar crawl-- it's not that he feels awkward, he just doesn't know how to feel about how... well, pretty he feels. It's driving him to nerves, so he'll take an extra two minutes to feed the cat and steel himself.

Once the cat is fed-- she's judgmentally glaring at the pair of them from the window, and he blows her a kiss as the door falls shut-- he's ready to leave for real this time, and after he locks the door he straightens his shoulders and gives Billie a grim nod. "Alright, ready. Were you thinking Uber, or shall we take the train?"

James frowns at the tense body language, the pain evident in Greg’s movements and posture.

“Sorry, I should’ve reminded you not to move your head.” He pulls his pen light from his breast pocket and purses his lips into a concerned line, shining the light over Greg’s pupils.

“In my opinion—and it’s a pretty good one—you at least escaped without a concussion…” He goes back to his medical bag. “I’ll make a wrap to stop the bleeding, keep the wound clean… And we should bring you in for a CT scan, check if there’s something going on that I can’t see. I doubt there is,” he hurried, “But…better be safe, with head injuries.”

I was interested to see how the "Who's House's successor going to be?" conversation played out on the Chase TWOP thread as the show aired. While that thread didn't really have too many people predicting Chase as House's successor right away, the thing people said the most often early on (by at least Dec. 2005) was that Foreman was more suited to Cuddy's role, mostly because of his ambition (she's the boss!), but also a little bit due to personality. It was interesting to see the different ways people matched Foreman, Chase and Cameron to House, Cuddy or Wilson. Some categorized according to personality/role they played in the narrative, others based on ambition, and others by how they worked through diagnoses (and some mixed and matched).

To start, there was more discussion of Chase as being in the Wilson role and Cameron in the House role. In Dec. 2005, TWOP forum user Naja Nivae said that "Both [Chase and Wilson] are calm and level headed and take House's shit without flinching and both have snappy patter with him. Plus both seem to have a sort of beaten down acceptance of life and a quiet caring way of approaching people and patients." This same person said that "Cameron in a way is more like House personality wise, in that if things don't fit her views then she must get her way at all costs no matter who it hurts in the long run. She, like House, is a drama queen only about different things. House flies off the handle in anger, while she does it with sadness or caring."

Then there seemed to be a shift and more discussion turned toward Chase being set up as the "mini-House," but mostly based on similar out-of-the box thinking (looks like this especially came up after episodes like Failure to Communicate and then kept going from there).

In 2008, TWOP forums user wildebeest made the point that all "the original ducklings showed different aspects of House's character" and that they "loved the contrast between Foreman acting like House and Chase thinking like House." I've added that screenshot below, but also had to include the one where they predicted in August 2007 that Chase as an intensivist would end up in the ICU and that Wilson would have "a cancer scare."

But I've seen the harm they cause to innocent people; the destruction to communities."
