Fire Emblem Awakening Mistletoe Headcanons

Here I am, back once again, sliiiiightly late as per potentially usual. The holidays are a busy time for anyone, after all, and I am not exception! Still, I hope you enjoy what I have in store. This year’s set for Awakening follows Henry/Olivia, Tiki/Say’ri, Lissa/Ricken, Gaius/Maribelle, Cordelia/Sumia, Vaike/Chrom, Inigo/Gerome, and Tharja/F Robin.

Henry/Olivia:

I feel like Henry absolutely employs the help of the crows to get Olivia under the mistletoe. The two of them are probably just having a nice winter’s dinner together when one of the crows flies over to land on Henry’s head. Olivia can’t help but smile and coo at it, laughing at how much the crows love Henry and how close they are to him. It’s only once Henry points out that there’s something in the crow’s mouth that Olivia clues into what’s actually happening. She blushes and asks Henry if he’s sure, to which he responds that he is, and that he wanted to do this in privacy for the sake of her shyness. Olivia is touched, and agrees to a nice kiss between the two of them. Henry is very gentle and careful with her, and he cannot help but appreciate the way she seems to melt into his embrace.

Tiki/Say’ri:

I feel like Tiki is oblivious to some of this mistletoe romantic stuff because she was just like, asleep for most of its establishment? So it’s Say’ri who has to bring it up to her once they accidentally get caught under the mistletoe. She’s quite flustered about the whole thing, insisting to the voice of Naga that she needn’t do anything she isn’t comfortable with, but of course Tiki believes that they shouldn’t shirk tradition. She closes her eyes and puckers up ever so slightly, so Say’ri cannot help but complete the link between them, surprised at how her heart seems to flutter when she meets with Tiki. Heat spreads through her chest, and she can’t help but snake an arm across Tiki’s waist and pull her in closer — something the manakete doesn’t seem to mind.

Lissa/Ricken:

Ricken’s probably the one that does the planning, but I can’t say that I feel as if he would do much with extravagance. He’d probably just hide the mistletoe in his robes until he had a private moment with Lissa, and then, when the two of them are alone, he starts talking about how pretty she is with the fallen snow in her hair, and asks her if she would do him in the honour of sharing a mistletoe kiss. Lissa laughs, insisting that she didn’t know that Ricken was such a sap. Still, she is more than willing to oblige the kiss, happy that her boyfriend is so romantic. The kiss is probably one of those sweet, innocent ones so commonly affiliated with puppy love, and maybe not the most skilful, but it’s happy and it’s sweet, and absolutely a smooth move that Ricken will brag about for years after.

Maribelle/Gaius:

I feel like when these two get their moment, it’s through the making of a candy-mistletoe. Maribelle has it made specially to ensure that she gets one — although she’d never admit it, because she’s a lady. But she got them made, and presents them to Gaius as apart of a dessert plate. He notices them right off the bat, a smirk creeping across his face as he asks his precious Twinkles if she planned this. She insists that she doesn’t know what he is talking about, but he is more than willing to tease her about wanting some sugar herself. Maribelle rolls her eyes, but cannot help but smile as Gaius pulls her in for a passionate, romantic kiss that lasts more than just a few minutes.

Cordelia/Sumia:

Sumia and Cordelia probably get caught under the mistletoe during an attempted play that Cordelia makes for Chrom. She hangs up mistletoe around a few different places in camp, hoping that maybe, just maybe, she’ll be in the right place at the right time to get it done. Sumia, on the other hand, is just curious about what her friend is up to. Which, of course, lands her right under the mistletoe. Naturally she and Cordelia blush, with the red headed pegasus knight insisting that she needn’t do anything. Sumia decides to kiss her cheek instead, but finds even that embarrassing, promptly apologizing and running off… Cordelia can’t help but wonder what all that was about, knowing in the back of her mind that something about Sumia’s lips on her cheeks felt… different. Did she still want that one with Chrom on the lips? … Somehow, it was hard to know anymore.

Vaike/Chrom:

Vaike probably got Chrom into a romantic position for mistletoe kisses via a challenge of some kind. I could honestly seem him doing it as a plain old sparring match, but maybe he could do a test of wits instead. He’d have a series of questions asked, ones that would all be catered towards his own knowledge, and of course Chrom is rolling his eyes the whole time. Eventually, they get to the million-dollar question, the one that will make the person who answers it the automatic winner. The question? “What is the tradition associated with mistletoe?”

Chrom answers it quickly and wins, and is then told by Vaike that he gets his prize… and then of course, he has to pucker up. Chrom rolls his eyes again, shaking his head.

“I should’ve known with you, Vaike,” he almost laughs as he leans in.

Gerome/Inigo:

Gerome is too cool for mistletoe kisses. Inigo is too embarrassed. What do you get when this happens? Spontaneity. Inigo has stopped by to chat with Gerome for a minute as he’s tending to Minerva, when suddenly they notice that she’s got something in her mouth. When Gerome asks to see what she has, the wyvern proudly sits up and shows them that she’s got some mistletoe, and she’s dangling it above their heads. Inigo is shocked, and Gerome can barely form words, but their desire to refuse the call of tradition makes Minerva grumpy, so they figure they’d better go through with it just to keep her happy. The kiss is awkward and stiff — just what you’d expect from these dweebs — but not altogether bad. Although they agree to not talk about it again for awhile after… but they will. It sparks some feelings, after all.

F Robin/Tharja:

Tharja will act like she does not care about being caught under the mistletoe with Robin. She cares immensely. Robin knows this, so she pretends to call her for a second pair of eyes on her battle pans for the next meeting. Then, as Tharja is looking them over, she smiles and points at the mistletoe. A dark, almost creepy smirk crosses the mage’s face, but Robin knows her girl well enough to know that this is her being happy, so she can do nothing more than lean and a plant a big, loving kiss on her. Tharja lets out a surprisingly cute giggle as she reciprocates, tangling her fingers in Robin’s hair and jokingly tugging on one of her pigtails.

I just got done with Say’ri and Tiki’s supports, and I officially ship it now.

How popular are they as a ship? I may have stumbled upon a rarepair (with the double whammy of featuring a not-as-popular character and being F/F in a game that overwhelmingly emphasizes M/F pairs). Then again, I thought Lysithea/Annette would be rarer than it ended up actually being.

Thank you so much for the ask and I am so sorry for the delay, I fell ill enough that I wasn’t able to hold focus enough to write anything coherent. I honestly and truly do believe cuddling with Tiki would cure my every ailment though, I really love this pairing!

I also just want to take a second to acknowledge how Say’ri has one of the hardest lines in fe history.

Say’ri’s cheeks lit red with blush as Tiki pulled herself into her lap. The manakete’s emerald eyes half lidded as she wrapped her dainty arms around the taller woman, exhaling peacefully as she nuzzled her face into the crook of Say’ri’s neck.

“Mmm my lady I have work I need to-“ Say’ri cut herself off at the sound of Tiki’s gentle snoring, the work could wait.

It was a wonder she got anything done with her wife’s sleeping habits. Say’ri was well and truly weak for her, never able to put anything else first. She smiled to herself as she brought her hand to rest against the smaller woman’s head, gently pulling her closer as she ran her fingers through Tiki’s luscious hair. It felt so soft against her skin, every inch of the manakete’s body did.

Tiki let out a satisfied purr as she snuggled closer, even in her sleep she was so responsive. Always needing to be held closer and tighter, craving more contact. So needy for the warmth of another, for the warmth of Say’ri…

Say’ri chuckled to herself as she continued to gently stroke her love’s hair, in the end she was just as desperate.

These guys were much harder and I don’t have ideas for Say’ri, Yen’fay, Gangrel, or Walhart, sorry :(

- Tiki has a son (seriously why are there no male manaketes in this game) who would ordinarily be bouncy and cheerful, but is clingy and prone to crying a lot due to bad memories and nightmares of the future. Calls his parents “Mama” and “Papa”. His manakete form is pale green with white accents.

- I like to think Basilio’s and Flavia’s children don’t get along. Like, at all. They’ll fight on the same team to stay alive, sure. Reluctantly. With minimal friendly fire. But none of that affectionate old married couple banter like their parents.

- Aversa has a son who was completely devoted to Validar and Master Grima. When he learns that in this timeline, Validar is dead, Aversa learned the truth of what he did to her, Robin refuses to carry out Grima’s will, Morgan is a total dork, and all of them have sided with Chrom, it kinda breaks him.

- Emmeryn has a daughter from a timeline where it was Chrom who was assassinated before Lucina could be born. She is very shy and soft-spoken, not believing herself to be leadership material. The Brand is on her neck, under her left ear. When Chrom sees it, he immediately is like “oh for fuck’s sake- LUCINA HOW MANY OF YOU-”

- Anna has a daughter who, thanks to Engage, isn’t even an OC at this point lmao.

- I don’t feel qualified to give Priam a child as I’ve never touched the Tellius games and I feel like his kid should reference someone or something from them.

i miss this game…

favorite male: stahl, always and forever. sweetest man in the world. ricken is up there too i miss my son boy

favorite female: sumia and olivia. picking between them is impossible so i simply will not

favorite pairing: ok this is one of the few games where i actually like a lot of canon/canon pairings. sumia/gaius, sumia/sully, sumia/cordelia (these won’t all be sumia ships dw), lon’qu/olivia, vaike/miriel, lissa/maribelle, ricken/nowi (the only morally correct pairing for both of these characters in my onion), lissa/henry, tiki/say’ri, every child unit/a therapist (/j), etc etc

also i will forever be salty that stahl and sumia don’t have supports those would be ADORABLE

least favorite character: i’m ngl i don’t hate any awakening character. i guess i don’t get the appeal of tharja? but i wouldn’t say i hate her

who’s most like me: nah is the reason i made my main fire emblem oc a manakete!

my favorite FE ship is m!Robin x Tiki, but one of its downsides is how it takes them to meet each other. maybe you could you contrive a scenario where they meet and start something earlier?

Thanks for asking! I haven’t written for Tiki before, and she was fun to research. I unfortunately wasn’t able to fit more than the two of them meeting in this oneshot but I’d be happy to write for this pairing in the future.

She gasps.

She’s panting. The world, it spins around her, in a green swirl.

“Steady now, Tiki.”

She calms herself. Power ebbs through her fingertips, which is a good sign. She closes her eyes. Her muscles are weak, but that’s to be expected. Shakily, she opens her eyes, and is relieved when she can see better.

The waterfall behind her drowns out most of the sound, but the unmistakable sound of footsteps still reaches her ears. Immediately, she jolts onto her feet. Ignoring her feet’s protests, she backs behind the niagara and watches.

The stranger’s silhouette doesn’t come into view immediately. Tiki takes the time between to tighten her hood over her head, concealing her manakete features.

His shadow comes across the water, slowly. Tiki observes. A man, by the shape of it. His gait indicates he’s bearing a sword.

“A Risen?” The thought makes her queasy. If one could track her all the way here, then she was in deep trouble. Right now, she was as good as a sitting duck.

But the way he carries himself makes her unable to believe that. His manner of walk is too controlled, his poise and posture immaculate. The more she looks at him, the more familiar he seems. His gait is just like…

“Mar-Mar?”

The words leave her mouth before she can stop them. He doesn’t hear them, thankfully. 

Tiki’s mind reels, and maybe it’s because she just performed a draining ritual, or the loneliness she’s felt these past thousands of years, but she finds herself unwittingly emerging from the falls, approaching him.

“Excuse me?”

Tiki halts. The man is facing her, eyes focused on her hand, which is firmly wrapped around his coat. Blinking, she follows his gaze. Her eyes widen, she promptly lets go.

“I’m s-sorry,” she stammers out, her face burning. He clearly isn’t Marth at all— now that she’s this close. His hair is white, his eyes hazel. His figure is no longer tainted in blue from the water, and instead he adorns a black hood that indicates that he is a mage.

The man smiles in response. “It’s alright, miss. What are you doing all the way out here?”

She hesitates to respond. She knows nothing of him, and in this weakened state, she could easily be killed, if he were to try. “Lost,” she lies, wrapping her jacket tighter.

His eyes narrow over her, clearly trained in observation. It makes her uncomfortable. He could very well have ill intentions, which makes her silently curse herself. Why, why now of all times did she allow grief and past feelings to overtake her? If she were to die today, it would certainly be her own fault.

“You’re a manakete,” he states, absentmindedly.

She bites her tongue from the sentence, and draws blood. And yet this doesn’t stir him to do anything; only tilt his head in curiosity. She reaches to feel her hood, which to her surprise, is still firmly in place.

“How did he..?”

“If you’re lost, I can walk you back.”

He gestures to a book in his hand. Tiki squints at it. Teleportation. She didn’t know such tomes existed. Humans have advanced, she supposes, over the past millennia. Her instinct is to run, especially since he’s pointed out her dragon blood. Yet, his aura exudes warmth, and she finds it hard to distrust him.

“…I would appreciate it.”

The mage takes a pen out of the book’s spine, and starts filling in specifications. “Where do you live?”

This, she’s memorized a response for in advance. “Chon’sin.” No doubt, Say’ri will understand her predicament.

He nods, and now activates the book. He places an arm on her shoulder, which causes her to jump. Seeing this, he quickly tells her, “To teleport two people, they have to be touching.”

Tiki slowly nods, face still flushed. “Ah, I understand.”

Lifting the spell book in the air, he gives one last glance down at her. “And your name is…?”

The Voice, she’s tempted to say. Daughter of Naga, she thinks of as well.

“Tiki.”

He smiles.

“Robin.”

Tiki and Tiki. It’s a little weird that we’re seeing kid Tiki in a dress? But I choose to see it more as a little bridesmaid so it’s fine, plus the outfit isn’t bad or anything; this isn’t a Sanaki situation thankfully. And at least Adult Tiki is the main unit so adult Tiki fans will be happy!

M!Robin. He deserves it, but he kind of just got his Legendary alt a few months back? I feel like this could have been someone else but at least it’s not Grima again.

Overall, some great picks and some GORGEOUS artwork but as a straight woman, I’m skipping this banner. Still no hunks.

got say’ri and tiki’s c support in my current file and like. there’s several layers to this but a few years back i was assigning some of the fates kids to my gen 1 awakening pairs as a little au experiment, and for whatever reason i can’t remember i gave mitama to say’ri. anyway the point is i need you all to imagine tiki!mitama with me. isn’t she perfect
