In the PlayStation game who is gato exactly? (Don’t know how to spell his name) I know he’s the main antagonist for the game but is he quiche’s boss or someone on the same level as deep blue? Also because he’s an alien does his name have any meaning associated with pastries like quiche, tart and pie? Is it gout or something similar to that?

His full name is Gateau du Roi, which TokyoPop mistranslated as "Gato". He served Deep Blue like the other aliens but he took charge in that particular mission in the game.

Gateau du Roi is derived from the French pastry Gâteau des Rois, meaning "King's Cake", that's kind of like a sweetened brioche with fruit on top. The name is slightly changed in spelling for the character since the original pastry name is plural.

Notes:

Page 24: “Young lady” was ojou-sama, which specifically refers to the daughter of a rich family. “Comebacks” was tsukkomi, which refers to both the “straight man” in a manzai comedy routine and the type of retorts this person usually says. Essentially, the boke, or “funny man”, says something wrong or outrageous and the tsukkomi loudly and violently corrects them, stereotypically by smacking them with a paper fan. You can see Minto do this to Ichigo in chapter 6 when Ichigo gets caught up imagining her potential future as an idol.

Page 25: Kenpo is the term for various martial arts, in this case presumably the KouEnJi Kenpo Buling and her father know in episode 33. 

Page 26: CNPJ is short for Conservation of Nature Park Japan, which is the wildlife reserve/island the Mew Mews visit in the game. RDA is short for Red Data Animal, i.e., an animal on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Why u should watch tokyo mew mew: the extremely abridged version (because I could talk for a Long Long time about why it’s my favorite series ever and why I think everyone who is interested in magical girl stuff should check it out. this post is already very long tho) 

some things I couldnt fit on the slides or forgot to add: 

-the series really lends itself to making ocs/self inserts which is fun!! both the mews and aliens designs have common elements in common that makes it easy to make your own character just by taking a food + animal + color! 

-All the characters have variations of their name’s spellings across various translations, so you’ll hear a lot of versions of their names ( Zakuro sometimes being Zacro, Kisshu being Quiche or Kish, Bu-Ling/Pudding and her last name being Fong or Huang, Mint/Minto, Tart/Taruto, Pai/Pie, etc...) 

-there IS a dub. by 4kids. called mew mew power. it’s...uh, interesting. It only got dubbed up to ep 26/52, and they made some bizarre name changes and even changed the episode order and censored some things that def didn’t need censoring (zakuro’s weapon being a cross was Scandalous) It’s kinda infamous for being bad, but it’s honestly funny and I’m attached to it since I grew up watching it first... I’d recommend checking it out after watching the subs, or just watching a compilation vid of it because it’s genuinely really funny

 -I haven’t actually READ tmm: Ole! yet beyond like, 1-2 chapters, so I can’t really vouch for if its as a good as the og series! I just wanted to mention it exists :)

This two pages fronm the TMM PS1 guidebook made me laugh out loud It’s basically info about the girls pros and cons agaisnt certain type of enemies Purin Better against every type of animal because she has the DNA of the golden lion tamarin

She's better against't - crocodiles, badgers, moose Weakness -

Doesn't have any weakness , as expect of Mew Purin, She's like Tarzan

Zakruo Better against - For some reason, there aren't any particular species of animals she’s better again't.

Since she has a high damage attack power she can kill pretty much everything.

She has a bad relationship with birds

Struggles against any type bird or flying animal/mammal.
