Cinder meeting Azula is the same as Revy meeting Lara Croft.

Cinder and Revy would hate Azula and Lara for being born into an influential family with all the wealth and prestige that comes with it while Cinder and Revy were abused and grew up in poverty.

Azula and Lara would also not like Cinder and Revy because they would see them as violent savages who demand something that doesn't correspond to them for no apparent reason.

What's also funny about Fionna picking up a special dagger is that the second Tomb Raider game focuses on a cursed dagger that, when stabbed into a person, turns them into a dragon, while there's also another Tomb Raider game only for handhelds called Tomb Raider: Curse of the Sword, and the sword in it lets someone steal the body of the person who gets cut by it.

Damn, feeling so bad for Mariner... Just imagine being her. You go out of your way to tell some wholesome stories about your team and your family, because you know your mom will be just "efficiency this success that", all dry and boring. You're so proud and happy to be a part of this collective. And then suddenly everybody says you've humiliated them, and you're like, how was that humiliating, but nobody even stops to explain it, which means you don't even come to the point where you can say "actually, that's not what happened", and then you just get kicked out, still totally lost on how that even happened. Fuck... That's some nightmare material.

thinking abt tomb raider rise of the tomb raider and like. it makes sense to u when you're playing it ofc bc you're the protagonist and u get full context but like. if u look at it from an outsider's perspective it's just like. some sort of unhinged white woman tramping around the siberian mountainside and killing people like

i just can't get over it i just keep thinking about it like if u were in jacob's point of view you're like ahh yea well this random white lady— dressed either like she got lost in the siberian mountains on her way to rob an art museum OR like kratos from god of war, with NO in between— just broke me out of jail using a metal pipe she wrenched off the wall with her bare hands and a cold war era soviet machine gun, the machine gun has like 3 pounds of random scrap metal and rebar pieces duct taped to the side and you're pretty sure they don't actually do anything, except when you ask her about them she refuses to call them anything other than a "tactical field upgrade" and also she insists that they function as a sniper scope, a silencer, and something she is referring to as a ported vent slide with increased high capacity ergonomic grip bullets tacticality tactical weapons mod tactical combat combat tactical.

despite the extremely violent items she carries with her, which suggest a militant nature, as well as a fondness for blunt force trauma and internal bleeding, she insists she is an archeologist and that she's actually the victim of this situation, and that everything she's doing here is for survival. she efficiently massacres 6 special ops forces in a row with advanced guerilla tactics and what appears to be homemade napalm, and then breaks their computers to "disrupt their intelligence communications". She's only breaking their red computers, but this is because "important information is only stored on the red computers". as she proudly announces that she has successfully looted every single tomb she's been to, you are fairly certain she has never been to archeology school in her life.

The list goes on. she fires on an armored helicopter. she falls into a frozen river not once, but twice. while you're trying to save her from dying of hypothermia and/or drowning, she has a flashback about her father killing himself, trauma dumps at you, and then heavily implies that the only way she can heal her family’s trauma is if you let her take your village's most important cultural artifact back to the british museum with her.

I’m currently replaying tomb raider, and god, I forgot the levels of psychological warfare raged on lara. - shipwrecked in a storm - wakes up upside down in a corpse cavern (twice) - is told nobody can come help her, she must save herself (this after she begs for her mentor to come get her) - has to make her first kill because while she’s being hunted down, a man tries to sexually assault her - is repeatedly almost killed by members of an insane cult - both father figures sacrifice themselves to save her - nearly has to watch her best friend burned alive - is almost burned alive herself, repeatedly - a friend sacrifices himself to save her and the rest of the crew - is blamed for the deaths of three of the crew members - is asked to rescue everyone else whenever there’s danger to them - has to save her best friend from having her soul replaced by a malevolent spirit

it’s a wonder she’s as sane as she is in future comics/games

I've finally been able to work on the codywan "tomb raider" fic but the current section I'm writing is too full of spoilers for WIP wed. So here is a bit from the beginning!
