American Cable Channel 'Cartoon Network' yet potentially shutting down by 2025
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- Social media abuzzed with a new latest hashtag trend "#RIPCartoonNetwork" on the X Network (formerly Twitter, owned by X Corporation) after a community page called Animation Workers Ignited (AWI) posted and claimed that the Warner Brothers merger-owned cable TV kids network was dead. Following after Cartoon Network Studios' building shutting down last year in 2023, the state of animation and challenges animators face in getting enough work to pay their bills, leaving the animation industry is under attack or forcing go permanently off-air, implementing for a potential and upcoming final broadcast.
Discovery Communications and Warner Brothers, now known as Warner Bros.-Discovery (WBD) after the merger, several Cartoon Network projects were reportedly canceled. To name a few, the remaining and final CNS originals such as Craig of the Creek's new pre-school cartoon spin-off "Jessica William's Big Little World", "Iyanu: Child of Wonder" and "Adventure Time: Side Quests". While the acquired series from Canada and France goes to "Total Drama Island" and "Totally Spies!" are both securing new seasons today. All these are up to 2025 onwards.
WBD owns the network and its Chief Executive Officer named Mr. David Zaslav, has been delisting shows across their catalogues to cut costs, despite the company's substantial revenue. However, multiple sources indicate that Cartoon Network in America and regional cable TV kids stations in every single countries of the world will remain available, and there are still projects ahead. For timeshifter channel like Adult Swim in the adult demographic (shortly after signing-off for the afternoon or evening, along the Toonami programming block, will not be affected.
Animation workers, like creators in other professions at CNS are struggling to make ends meet as executives prioritize revenue for themselves and shareholders. The future of animation remains uncertain, but the cable kids network isn't shutting down entirely.
Big memories before the upcoming final broadcast of CN within a few to several years time, as the main animation studio is officially done, and yet, literally bankrupt as a whole. The trend of "#RIPCartoonNetwork" is a big misleading point and turned out false. From "Adventure Time" to "Steven Universe" to "Craig of the Creek", the cable kids channel will soon be the last time, if considered legit to see whether if you're new or current childhood grew up on national american television.

Custom Toonami Block Week 73 Rundown
Code Geass: Lelouch and co. are still stuck in China and Xingke’s flipping out because the Chinese assholes are gonna kill the Empress and go with someone less problematic for their political marriage to Britannia’s creepily overaged prince. However Lelouch pulls out a Knightmare that’s basically the Twink version of the Gawain and busts everyone up as well as pulling a Father Cornello on them and letting the people know they’re all elitst 1% assholes that don’t care about them, which I suspect all countries probably know about their leaders but it sucks to hear it in a recording so riots show up all over China and CC Geass Flashes Anya to take her out so Britannia has to back out because the Chinese Hierarchy are now the least popular people in the world. So Xingke gets to be with his Empress and joins the Black Knights but Dietard wants the Empress to marry someone on their side so they can basically do the asshole move Britannia just tried to do but for them. All the girls are like ‘hey no’ and Lelouch is like “Oh hey Tamaki buddy, let’s go talk and get me the fuck out of here” so before Lelouch actually has to give Tamaki more lines and elevate him beyond the Black Knight’s Yamacha Shirley calls and Lelouch just straight up asks Shirley about love in a weirdly forced series of circumstance. But Shirley’s like “Yeah don’t fuck with love, don’t you love anyone?” and Lelouch is like “Yeah I do, Nunally!” and I don’t think that’s at all what Shirley meant but it does mean Lelouch sees that fighting for something beyond politics is powerful and agrees to not marry off the twelve year old girl, so that’s good. Lelouch decides to return home while they hunt down the Geass cult which is in China for some reason despite that being one of the like two places on earth Britannia doesn’t control and the Geass Cult largely being a Britannian affair. Meanwhile Sayoko is basically a Lelouch Vtuber at this point with her insanely accurate Lupin III mask of Lelouch and kisses Shirley so Shirley’s a little bit more gay than she was before and is not sure how to feel about that. When she’s about to tell the real Lelouch he kisses like a girl, Anya and Gino show up because we’re retreading the whole ‘sleeping with the enemy at school’ thing from the first season except with way less interesting enemies. Also the preview for the next episode is Lelouch dramatically talking about enemies finding out he’s Zero overtop footage of Shirley and Milly absolutely naked in a batthouse scene so I think we know what kind of episode that’ll be.
Inuyasha: The Panther Demon filler concludes with everyone meeting at the site where the Panther Master is being revived behind a strong barrier, if only someone just got a barrier upgrade to their sword, oh wait. But yeah everyone manages to free the hostages so even though Kagome’s jewel shards revives the Panther Master he’s still a zombie without a sacrifice which is weird since Naraku managed to completely revive the Band of Seven with one jewel shard each from skeletons and the Panther Lord has three shards so idk the rules here but yeah he steals the souls of his own men to revive and is Wind Scar Proof because he just is. It’s pretty cool to see him shooting his claws and lightning and shit but he’s too big and slow for it to be much of an interesting fight. Sesshomaru’s about to go full demon which would be interesting since we haven’t seen his full demon form since he lost his arm but in a neat bit of character development, Tenseiga calms his rage and tells him to use it instead. You get the feeling Sesshomaru only goes full demon when he flies off the handle and forgets about speed and strategy so him opting to not repeat the mistake he made against Inuyasha is pretty cool. Anyway Tenseiga heals the souls of the Panther Demons and drains their energy from the lord so he’s back to Zombie Cat Man which Inuyasha can Wind Scar because that’s what happens to villains on this show, all Wind Scars all the time. The Panthers don’t wanna fight anymore since their boss just killed them and tell Inuyasha to tell Sesshomaru the feud is over and they’re going back to the West. Honestly this is basically the same backstory they gave Kirinmaru in Yashahime so it’s funny for them to say they’re going back to the same place Kirinmaru is from, wonder if it’ll ever come up in Yashahime since most filler seems canon there.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Yusuke and Kuwabara continue the assault on Tarukane’s compound and basically plow through the lower demons easy since they’ve been fighting minor deities up to this point. It’s always pretty cool in Shonen to just have a few rounds to show how much power creep the heroes have had where certain things just don’t bother them anymore. Toguro murders a Chimera which has an oddly similar backstory to Nina from FMA and he seems really bummed about it but he’s like “Hey we’re both monsters made by humans telling us to do shit, so sorry for killing you bro”. And Tarukane basically sees Toguro is the next boss and is like “Yup time to scam some people off of this” and he sets up a betting ring for how far Yusuke and Co will get into his compound. This is kinda neat because it puts Tarukane in the weird position of betting against his own guards and hoping Yusuke will make it all the way to Toguro and then lose after everyone else has seen how awesome Yusuke is and bets on him. And funnily enough Sakyo’s in on the betting and he’s watched anime before so he knows to bet on the plucky teenagers with weird powers. So yeah Yusuke and Kuwabara finish plowing through the demons while Hiei kinda stalks them and remembers getting his eye surgery and wanting to help his sister but it’s kind of against spirit world rules for demons to just go plow through humans even if they’re scumbag humans so now Yusuke and Kuwabara have to go fight the Triad of boss demons Toguro has under him before Hiei busts in and just murders everyone for kidnapping his bird-loving jewel-crying little flower of a sister.
Fate Zero: So Kiritsugu can break Kayneth’s Terminator 2 Gaara defenses with rib bullets that just say ‘no’ to using magic and fucks his arrogant ass up. Saber and Lancer do some combo shenanigans to stab Caster right in the book and disrupt all his hentai tentacle demons but the book heals so idk why he can’t just make more. Kirei fucks up Maiya and Iris but didn’t double tap Maiya and DID double tap iris but she’s got Saber’s bullshit healing scabbard on her which no one knows about so Saber’s like “uhhh why are you healing” and Iris can’t tell her so she’s basically “Uhh internet?” Lancer comes in to save Kayneth’s worthless ass and tells Kiritsugu to stop being a dick to Saber because she’s pretty dope. But as usual for an early Fate encounter, no one dies and nothing of terrible consequence happens despite it being teased a couple times. I’ve noticed a trend with Fate that it really doesn’t like killing characters early so you’re basically guaranteed to have the first 2-3 major battles have a zero net gain/loss. Rider in UBW was probably the subversion to that since it happened crazy fast and anticlimactic but even that wasn’t till like ten episodes in.
Konosuba: So we finally meet Wiz the big booby Lich and Kazuma learns a new skill, both fun things. Also the gang gets a house to stay in after escapades with an army of haunted dolls and the most “I need to pee” in a horror setting since Corpse Party. But yeah, good progress this time honestly, the living in a stable gag was getting kind of old so Kazuma’s a bit stronger now and they have a home base so that’s pretty cool. Also Wiz is a Demon General or some shit but no one cares cause there ain’t no money in murdering busty zombie waifus.
Sailor Moon Crystal: So turns out Minako is Princess Serenity, except everyone who knows anything about Sailor Moon or indeed plot structure knows Sailor Moon is Princess Serenity, that’s like the Luke I Am Your Father of this series. But still turns out Minako has been guiding everyone with the power of video games but also thinks the power of friendship sucks and she’s gotta go do everything alone. This makes things super awkward because Mamoru’s pretty sure he was in love with the Princess but likes Usagi, now instead of running with this interesting thread of a reincarnation falling in love with someone new we’re gonna do the reveal that Usagi’s the princess and the whole ‘till death do us part’ part of marriage was just a metaphor and you’re stuck with one person no matter how many times you reincarnate. But yeah, Minako fights the bad guy on top of the tower but he has Naraku’s Barrier now and Minako doesn’t have the Red Tessaiga upgrade yet so she needs the power of friendship but this barrier is friendship-proof and this fight is basically a bunch of kids on the playground making up increasingly stupid powers that negate the other powers the other guy just made up. Anyway Tuxedo Mask shows up and is like “Holy shit Sailor Moon I love when you kiss me and kick ass, go get em sweetie I’ll hold your flower” and they kiss and Usagi has learned that if she just pretends she got this the power of her confidence will beat the bad guy. Unfortunately she does not got this and Tuxedo Mask has to pull a Piccolo and throw himself in front of the blast.
Durarara!!: So now that we’ve had our climax for the arc we have a six month timeskip and everyone’s just kinda living life, Mika and Seiji are being clinically insane together, there’s cops harassing Celty to the point of mental breakdown (normal cop stuff) Shinra’s dad’s in town, Namie’s become Izaya’s secretary for blackmail shit, you know, normal stuff. Also there’s a katana-wielding maniac going around slashing people and Anri’s being bullied and sexually harassed to the point of mental collapse, normal stuff.

alright here’s how 2020 is gonna go down on here. I honestly thought I wasn’t gonna be using tumblr anymore by now (even before the tumbpocalypse) but I tried getting into twitter which just seemed like a popularity contest and the daily trending hashtags are pretty lame, and instagram is kinda aight I guess but it’s not the kind of place to be a e s t h e t i c IMO. so, here I am, still doing this shit. but I got super rad mutuals still on here and this blog has helped me archive my various interests into a singularity I can always come back to and search tags, which is why I’ll encourage others to do so with a lil guide: dreamcast - sega saturn - ps1 - snes - futuristic - looks - cgi - y2k - y2k japan - y2k korea - sci-fi anime - 90’s anime - HOM - VR - future fashion - futuristic interiors - toonami - robots - graphic design - inspiration - video - gif - future music - vaporwave - trance music - ambient - dark ambient - new age - techno - house music - sega life - PSO - tokusatsu - booth girls - merging realities - dmt - playlist - relaxing vgm - atmospheric vgm - menu screen - VMII - DJ Mute City
as far as future posts go, I will probably pick random themes to my liking (such as robots, tokusatsu, etc) to add to the queue, and many of you probably have noticed I will do console focused posts around anniversaries or games fitting for a certain season: January: cyberwave games (anything futuristic basically) February: cute games March: PS2 & Sharp X68k April: ??? May: Sega Saturn June-July: no anniversaries, just summer game vibes & Sega Model 2 + 3 August: SNES September: Dreamcast & N64 October: Sega CD, Sega Genesis, PC-Engine and horror games November: XBOX, Gamecube, Wii, XBOX 360 December: PS1 & winter theme
#so i've felt like i've been a huge sponge over the years but I swear all this nrg will come to some use someday#if anyone has ever wanted to collab and make a game demo hit me up#about to finally quit my retail job and just work my online job and hopefully do 3D design stuff again

Not quite 10 years of pony
Well I feel like since we’re here at the decade mark since Friendship is Magic first aired I should probably say SOMETHING in my usual effort to pretend I’m even remotely close to being someone anyone would want to listen to!
I don’t know what it was about Friendship is Magic. It was a good show but there had been good shows before and there will be plenty of good shows to come, but I think what clicked the MOST is that when it came out I had recently moved out of my parent’s house for the second time at age 23, and for the first time I could just... do what I WANTED to do, stress free.
Flashback way further to when we first got satellite TV when I was at the tail end of grade school. Prior to that TV was just our antenna, and let me tell you, that was the crappest of shoots. At least 50% of the time there would be too much signal interference. We got the joy of picking between the channel with no sound, the channel with sound but no picture, or the channel with maybe 25% of each but we could KINDA detect something coherent in it. I’d wait all week for episodes of Dragonball Z to air at 6 AM on Saturday only to have my kid heart crushed by the entire episode being in varying states of chaotic viewability... not that things HAPPENED that much. You dang kids are spoiled with your DBZ Kai! (Shakes cane!)
But then, satellite TV! My GOD it was amazing. Not only could we SEE AND HEAR THINGS BESIDES STATIC, we got a guide with a menu and everything so we could see upcoming shows! But then also, Cartoon Network... and Toonami... and DBZ EPISODES EVERY NIGHT HOLY FUUUUUCK also this other show called Gundam Wing or whatever I don’t think anyone paid any attention to that one.
...
(Discretely adjusts camera away from shelf full of Gundam models in the background)
Anyway another couple Cartoon Network/Toonami shows I remember actually watching for the first time was The Powerpuff Girls and Sailor Moon... but I watched them HESITANTLY, and in secret. We had two TVs set up and if mom and dad were watching something I didn’t want to watch I’d be fine going to the other side of the house to chill and watch the other connected set on a different channel. This was stress incarnate. I’d split my attention between watching the show at low volume and listening for footsteps getting even REMOTELY CLOSE so I could hit the previous channel button before they could hear what I was watching. There are grown adults who watch outright pornography at their workplace office with less caution than barely teen kid me watched perfectly harmless CARTOON SHOWS. I was thoroughly ashamed of watching these shows but in spite of this I watched them anyway and came to really like them, Powerpuff Girls in particular.
Now of course this was a big nothing burger to worry about, my parents wound up really liking Powerpuff Girls too, but this is a trend for me. I’m internally terrified of anyone in real life finding out I LIKE... well, anything. At some point when I was a kid it became cool to hate Power Rangers, and I didn’t hate Power Rangers, but if I ever said I didn’t hate Power Rangers I would get absolutely shit on for it. I took away the lesson that you shouldn’t outwardly LIKE THINGS.
Basically just Rainbow Dash realizing she likes to read Daring Do books and keeping it a secret with the same fervor a murderer would employ to hide a corpse, but it’s for DECADES instead of 22 minutes. Frankly, I still feel this way. All my shirts are monotone with no art or anything, and I even feel a slight cringe whenever I bring out my wallet to pay for stuff because my wallet has a Nuka-Cola logo on it. I go out of my way to make sure you know nothing concrete about my interests just by looking at me.
So then decades later I’m living on my own for the first real time with a job and everything and one of my WoW buddies keeps linking me stuff related to a MY LITTLE PONY show of all things. Eventually he gives me a link to watch the, then latest, episode called Call of the Cutie and I begrudgingly watch it. Then I say “...god damn it” and start looking for episode 1. I never would have done that if I were still living with my parents, no fucking WAY. Friendship is Magic was the first show I realized I could just WATCH without perpetual existential terror clawing at my brain because I was alone, and it was genuinely positive at a time in my life where I thought about suicide way too much without thinking it was a PROBLEM.
Then something WEIRD happened.
See somewhere in my mid teen years I made a personal vow to never write fanfiction again after writing a small chunk of fanfiction. My teen self thought that fanfiction was an uncreative endeavor, and that people who wrote it were foolishly wasting their time with something that could never legally make them any money when they could be writing original fiction instead, and potentially getting published! But for some reason, for the first time in like a DECADE, Friendship is Magic actually got me to read fanfiction from other people. Not just fanfiction, but cringy crossover fanfiction with genres that couldn’t POSSIBLY work for something like My Little Pony!
Then for SOME reason I got the idea to write a sequel to someone else’s crossover fanfiction and crossover MLP fanfiction now accounts for basically ALL of my online writing material what the fuck happened.
But yeah here we are a decade later. I still haven’t finished Reunion, I’ve taken the better part of three years to write what I have of this miniseries, dad’s dead, I had to move back in with my parents, my dogs are dead, grandma’s dead, Friendship is Magic is over and done with and I likely missed all opportunity to get a readership from my inaction and mental issues, most of my friends have little to no interest remaining for the show so the thing that got me friends in the first place is now ISOLATING ME due to my continued interest, I’ve been diagnosed with severe depressive disorder and since I lost my job I have no reasonable access to medication, a conversation with a friend recently made me consider that I might have undiagnosed ADHD but, again, no access to medical care, I’m trapped in a situation I see no way out of short of basically leaving my loved ones to die without my help, I have little to no privacy anymore so my introverted ass gets NO MENTAL REPRIEVE and it’s so... fucking... tiring.
I’m TIRED. I feel at 33 the way I assume someone would feel at 63 and I never ever ever see it getting any better than it was for me around the time season 5 was still airing.
About the only thing that feels good anymore is knowing how much weight I lost this year.
So yeah... I miss Friendship is Magic, sure, but I also just miss WHEN Friendship is Magic was airing, because it may likely end up being the best time in my entire life.
Sad.

FEATURE: What's Your Anime Nostalgia Era?
Hello everyone, and welcome to Why It Works. The fall season is chugging merrily along at this point, but even as I’m enjoying the latest new episodes, I can’t stop thinking about the Ghost of Anime Past. I don’t think that’s my fault, though; it just so happens that this season is built on an absolute motherlode of high-quality anime nostalgia. And not even just one era of anime nostalgia, either — from Tite Kubo’s followup to Bleach to the unexpected return of Inuyasha to the final season of Haikyu!!, 2020’s fall season is trafficking in nostalgia for multiple decades of anime fandom.

Everyone is nostalgic for certain eras of the media they like, though our nostalgia is frequently more a result of our own circumstances than the media itself. When you’re first introduced to something like anime, it can feel like you’ve uncovered a secret door into a whole new world. Everything is fresh and different, and your built-in expectations regarding narrative and drama are no longer able to guide you. It’s a thrilling experience, and if you’re encountering anime on the cusp of adolescence, you’ll further tether those formative media experiences to your own process of discovering who you are.
Of course, anime’s own nature tends to amplify its nostalgic pull. Not only is anime narratively preoccupied with nostalgia and youth, but the medium’s seasonal barrage of shows and shifting narrative trends mean there are genuine reasons to claim anime was at its best whenever you first started watching. Do you feel most attached to the epic sci-fi and World Masterpiece Theater of the ‘70s? How about the high-budget OVAs and ultraviolence of the ‘80s and early ‘90s? Perhaps you attached yourself to the post-Evangelion shift in content and format, or the subsequent light novel wave, or one of anime’s even more recent trends? In anime, the gradual migration of media trends, and the resulting shift in artist specialties, means you can often accurately claim that they don’t make them like they used to.
Our nostalgia is valid no matter where it lies, and personally, I feel I’m most attached to two separate eras, which unsurprisingly coincide with the two times I fell deeply into anime. First off, like many other American fans, I was first introduced to anime through Cartoon Network’s Toonami block, along with the alluring Adult Swim block they hosted late at night. The appeal of early ‘00s mainstays like Inuyasha and Cowboy Bebop was naturally bolstered by the thrill of staying up way too late to watch them; by myself in a silent house, I felt like I was receiving broadcasts from another world. And after all this time, seeing the announcement of an Inuyasha followup brought me right back to those nights, when anime was so cool and so new I had to maintain a night vigil to watch it.
I only watched a few scattered anime during college, but returned to the medium in earnest a couple of years later, near the end of 2012. This era was quite different from my first one. This was me rediscovering anime as a critically-minded young adult, and realizing the medium still had countless ways to thrill me. The year 2013 was incredibly important for me, as I explored the wonders of fascinating new shows like The Eccentric Family, Kyousogiga, and Bakemonogatari, while also greedily munching through then-recent classics like Madoka and Hyouka. It was watching those shows that got me writing about anime, meaning that era still feels like a living part of me today.
It’s short-sighted of us to argue that our nostalgia eras are the “objectively best” eras in anime, but our personal connection and history with art is a valuable thing, and well worth celebrating. Nostalgia exemplifies the fact that our experience of art is never a pure result of the art itself — it is a conversation between the work and our own personality at the time, with our position in life, perspective on stories, and general philosophy of being all filtering into how we engage with media. How could anyone else mirror your first experience with a show you love, if they weren't who you were at the time? When I needed a friend, anime was that friend — and when I was eager to pull at the strings of art and storytelling, anime was there for me, too.

No two people will have the exact same experience with a show, because no two people are bringing the exact same set of preferences and experiences to that work. Heck, as we grow and gain experiences, even we start to bring different preferences and experiences to works of art and adjust our impression of them over time. In light of that, nostalgia could be considered a very precious thing — by celebrating our old favorites, we are in a way communing with our own old selves, with the people we were when we first fell in love with anime. Thus, taken the right way, nostalgia can be both validating and humbling — a point of connection with our younger selves and an illustration of how much we’ve grown.
All that said, I totally do believe 2013 was an absurdly good year in anime, and am ready to fight anyone who thinks differently. I mean, seriously; Kyousogiga, The Eccentric Family, Monogatari Second Season, and My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, all in the same year? Gatchaman Crowds, From the New World, Psycho-Pass … look, I don’t think it’s just me, but I’m willing to cede some room for argument here. All I’m saying is that if every year were 2013-tier, I would never have any shortage of article topics.
This isn’t about me, though. What are your own nostalgic eras in anime, and what made them special to you? Let me know in the comments!

First of all the reason we trend shows is to show the popularity and interest of the show which is counted toward ratings, when trending you use a hashtag in your tweet (Ex: #ShowName is on Toonami!) we only hashtag and trend the show name because that is what actually counts, in order for a show to better trend we all must use the same hashtag when tweeting, using different hashtags and multiple hashtags limits the ability of getting a show to trend, by everyone using different versions of hashtags we are just essentially fighting ourselves trying to get the shows trending, I see a lot of people using different versions of hashtags and that needs to stop, everyone needs to use the official hashtags that toonami uses. Rules for Trending: ONLY HASHTAG AND TREND THE SHOW NAME: EX: #DBZKai is on Toonami! 1. Don't over tag your tweets, only one hashtag per tweet, more than one hash tag makes a tweet spam and won't help with trending. Don’t used the same hash tag multiple times in the same tweet as it will be counted as spam. 2. Your tweet must be relevant to your hashtag, in other words don't tweet anything off topic with the hashtag or it will not be counted. Also hashtags cannot be tweeted by themselves are they will not be counted as well. 3. Do not repeatedly tweet the same tweet over and over as it will also be consider spam. 4. Your account must be public if it is private your tweets will not count toward trending, you can change your account back to private after Toonami is over if you wish to do so. 5. Retweeting does not count toward trending unless you quote/manually retweet the tweet. (Ex: “@Username: #ShowName is on Toonami!”) Submitting Trends: When submitting screens captures to @AnimeSavior or @ToonamiNews for the trending rundown you must make sure your trends list are set to United States or Worldwide, Tailored trends do not count as anything, so please make sure you trends list are set properly. This about covers everything there is to know about Trending, Please read and share the trending schedule and guide, If you have any questions be sure to tweet me @JMB_70056 or @PaulPescrilloon twitter.
