Beyoncé was in Tokyo, Japan for her Cowboy Carter album signing, on her album release day. It was located at Tower Records Shibuya (a record store). These videos are so sweet. I know her meeting the fans meant so much to them. It look like Bey was getting emotional as well. 🥹(3/29/24)
August Receiptify: thanks for tagging me @flaredpantsagenda :D
some of these surprised me! the top four artists definitely didn't, but i tend to listen to more exo and bbhf too so it's wild they didn't make it on either receipt.
i'm gonna tag: @charles-edwin @jonginnation @suuho @cryptidcrysis @huhyuhbah if u don't have a spotify, my bad! 😅
Tower Records has already existed in the USA since the 1960s, but in 1995, a 9 story building opened in Shibuya.
It wasn't until 2002, however, that they separated from the American company.
So why am I talking about this right now? What does this have to do with Shibuya-kei? This opened to a WIDE SELECTION of international music! Perfect for sampling, a big part of the genre!
Unlike the American counterpart, Tower Records JP never closed (although, USA Tower Records re-opened after a whole 15 years)!
