Took a quick *looks at the last time I posted and sweats profusely*👀 detour in my free time to playthrough Yokai Watch 2 Psychic Specters as a soul link with my fiance and let's just say this game had me in a chokehold for weeks....

Specifically these two yokai goobers so enjoy my Toadal Dude and Arachnus drawings! 🐸🕷

the kuroi medals for arachnus/toadal are so good hold on guys let me be annoying abt them for a second. theyre both insanely cool references and I wish they took this route with more of the kuroi medals or the medals of classic yokai in general

Toadal's medal is a reference to Utagawa Kuniyoshi's ~c. 1826 print of Tenjiku Tokubei (a kabuki character who rode a giant toad mount)

And Arachnus's is based on the 14th-century Tsuchigumo no Sōshi Emaki (the scene where Yorimitsu kills the Tsuchigumo) (which used to be my header. if you remember The Olden Days)

Finally drawing these two after forever (⁠＾⁠3⁠＾⁠♪ and also trying out a new brush while I'm at it! Hmm yes very crisp,, waaugh I've been tiring my brain out with constantly obsessing over new stuff, I need to show my favs more love!!! (T_T)

Ok so I was able to make this post a few hours before Deltarune is releasing thankfully. Now, what was the mysterious surprise I wanted to show you so much that I teased it in 2 posts? Well, you know the Yo-kai Arachnia? You know how she doesn't have a Shadowside form? (Lady Arachnia doesn't count since she's a different entity). Well, a fellow artist called N/Nathan/Enmafavhusband made a Lightside Arachnia and allowed me to draw her^^

This is her original design btw, it's also in the Fan-kai Wiki I mentioned in this other post! (She's so pretty omg)

And what can I say about this Fan-kai honestly? I would've been fine if SS Arachnia was just a SS Arachnus palette swap, but this??? This is genuinely an amazing design like omg. I love how she both keeps a similar resemblance to her Classic counterpart while also being unique from Arachnus ❤ And her having a smoking pipe not only fits her traditional Japanese Jorogumo theme, but also fits her since she's a venom expert!

As for the render I made, I tried to draw her close to the artstyle that official Level 5 renders use, while trying to keep as much of the charm from the og drawing as possible (can you tell how much I love this Yo-kai? hehe). And also if you notice, the render I made of her has her in a mirrored pose to Arachnus' so they contrast more^^ The only "changes" I did to her was showing her legs (I kept the sandals and black leggings that Classic Arachnia uses) and adding a poison cloud emerging from her pipe.

Now, you might thing this is all, but you guys are aware that the main gimmick of Shadowside Yo-kai are the fact they have 2 sides. And while N didn't make her a Shadowside, I decided to do it myself. Meet Shadowside Arachnia!

Now, I have a lot to say about this Fan-kai since I'm the one who made her.

So, how did I design her? Well, since I liked N's Lightside so much, I wanted to give her a Shadowside that was worthy of her, and also wanted her to look unique enough from SS Arachnus just like how her LS is unique from his!

So, I used his design as a base, but also made her legs that way because when LS Arachnia uses her powers, she creates these glowing spider legs in her back. I added them to her SS Arachnia since Shadowside gameplay-wise acts like a second Soultimate, so it makes sense for her SS to have it by default^^

As for her different face, I actually used the Jorogumo that shows up when Classic Arachnia uses her Spider Crash Soultimate^^ I tried to combine both her features and SS Arachnus' features.

And finally, I also made her keep her LS's clothes in her SS since SS Arachnus also keeps his shirt. Though I decided to add a skull too since I thought it fit her. Also here's her render without the nametag.

And that should be it! I was really excited to show this (despite having made it a bit ago whoops) since I already love the funny Classic transgender spider girl, so seeing this interpretation of what she'd look like 30 years older made me very happy (to the point I made her Shadowside myself haha). And bias aside, I already try my best when drawing, but you can definitely tell I put extra effort in these because of how much I love them <3

I do have some more renders to show, but I'll most likely log off here (and in most social media apps) to avoid Deltarune spoilers until I finish the game. So, cya until then ❤

Learning To Be Human

This is an idea that I've had for a while now. If you don't like spiders then it might not be for ya. Let's get started!

The Hoshina Clan had a secret unlike any other. A long time ago, one of their ancestors married a very special woman. Her traits would begin to manifest in her descendants throughout different generations.

Then came a 300 year absence of this inheritance for the Hoshina Clan. She was soon forgotten by everyone and became a faceless ghost in history. No one had been ready when her mark resurfaced nor the level it came at.

There is a forest where the clan now hides their shame. Nobody knew the truth and were too afraid or apathetic to learn it. It continued to remain like this for over two decades. Yet like any other secret, it would only be a matter of time before he got free.

30 days were what was needed to find the right path to escape. One thing about human nature is how persist they can be with the perfect goal. Even if the road ahead was littered by obstacles.

It was the determination of a particular man that guided him through the forbidden forest. Straight into the spider's lair where his prize would be waiting alongside an additional request. Yet the spider didn't expect just how special this rescuer really is.

Or that history will repeat itself. Like with his forgotten ancestor, he would meet a man who'll truly cherish him. A love that was forgotten by the passage of time shall be reborn once more.

When a man named Kafka Hibino met the Tsuchigumo known as Soshiro Hoshina and taught him how to be human.

I figured it was certain Vice Captain's time for a mythological makeover. For those wondering, his ancestor was indeed a Jorōgumo, a yokai often depicted with the top half of a human woman and spider bottom half. Tsuchigumo is the male equivalent but their portrayal varies a lot more.

I'll be making an in depth page on him like Siren Kafka. You just need to know for now is that his normal form is a genderbent Jorōgumo. His spider bottom half is based on the Lala Barina from Monster Hunter since there wasn't a real world spider which would suit him.

For how Kafka got into this situation, he's working as a part time delivery driver to earn some extra money. This is to pay for his father's life saving treatment. So he would take a mysterious 30 day challenge if it was gonna help him save his dad.

This challenge is to deliver 30 packages in the span of 30 days. 1 package has to be delivered at a certain point in the forest. The distance would get longer until reaching Soshiro's nest so to speak. Why do this?

It's because the forest is heavily monitored with guards ready to apprehend intruders. However the pay is worth it, their client is transparent about what they're carrying, the risks, and the massive paycheck at the finish line. Kafka is the eighth person to not only try but succeed.

The route they took would be what Soshiro follows to escape. All the packages are items needed for once he was free. It was meant to be a solo trip but our favorite himbo threw that out the window.

Kafka essentially takes him in as a roommate. Treating Soshiro like a person instead of a burden or curse. He is obviously going house hunting since a small apartment wouldn't be perfect for one man and his 17 ft Tsuchigumo friend.

Until then, our loveable himbo makes sure his new friend is comfortable. Whether exploring the city by night or taking secret trips in the company van during the day. The two slowly fall in love over time, something that steadily affects them both. Although the change for Soshiro is more physical to put it simply.

Meanwhile the Hoshina Clan don't know that their secret is free. Until the Tsuchigumo's father goes to check in on him. And horror sinks in as his son is nowhere to be found.
