"The Catholic Church is corrupted- it's irredeemable!"
Tumblr media
Thomas Cromwell (1485 – 28 July 1540), briefly Earl of Essex, was an English statesman and lawyer who served as chief minister to King Henry VIII from 1534 to 1540, when he was beheaded on orders of the king, who later blamed false charges for the execution.
Architect of the English Reformation: Thomas Cromwell played a crucial role in the English Reformation, which saw England break away from the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church. He helped King Henry VIII establish the Church of England, facilitating the king's divorce from Catherine of Aragon and his marriage to Anne Boleyn.
Mastermind of the Dissolution of the Monasteries: One of Cromwell's most significant achievements was overseeing the Dissolution of the Monasteries (1536-1541). This process involved the closure and destruction of hundreds of monasteries, priories, convents, and friaries across England, which transferred vast wealth and land from the Church to the Crown.
Rise from Humble Beginnings: Cromwell was born around 1485 to a modest background in Putney, London. He rose from being the son of a blacksmith and brewer to becoming one of the most powerful men in England, showcasing his remarkable political acumen and ambition.
Chief Minister and Reformer: As chief minister to King Henry VIII from 1534 until his downfall in 1540, Cromwell implemented a series of administrative reforms that centralized and strengthened the power of the monarchy. His reforms modernized the government and laid the groundwork for the future development of the English state.
Dramatic Fall from Power: Despite his influence and contributions, Cromwell's fortunes changed rapidly. His involvement in arranging the king's ill-fated marriage to Anne of Cleves in 1540 led to his downfall. Henry VIII, displeased with the marriage, turned against Cromwell. He was arrested, charged with treason and heresy, and executed on July 28, 1540. Henry later expressed regret, blaming false charges for Cromwell's execution.

ⒷⓄⓄⓀ ⓇⒺⓋⒾⒺⓌ Troy Author: Stephen Fry Genre: Historical fiction, Myhtology My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book has the same story already written in Iliad and Odyssey, so one might ask, why to read this book. Well to answer that, you have to read the book. Not only the author meticulously described a tale that is no smaller than the world wide web, he has also included very important and tiny facts in each page's footnote. The footnotes make going through the tale even more smooth. The flawless capture of Paris's character rightfully was the main attraction for me. No matter what I read in any other greek mythology books, I could never find Paris a good human. He went behind his father, his countrymen just to get the girl he desired, without even knowing the girl's honest intentions. Well I guess back in those days, consent did not matter much in matters of 'love'. Overall, its a really nice book, if you already have some knowledge in Greek mythology, it will be easier for you to grasp. Also you can totally read this as your reference book. The amount of research done in all aspects of the war of Troy is truly marvelous. #bookstagram #bookreview #bookreviewer #indianbookreviewer #booklover #historicalfiction #historylover #tudor #tudorcourt #mythologyfiction #mythology #greekmythology (at Kolkata) https://www.instagram.com/p/COj0GR7HEzD/?igshid=1wy6664ov79rn

‪28 Sep 2017.‬ ‪ ‬ ‪Have you watched The White Queen or The White Princess TV shows?‬ ‪ ‬ ‪I’m not sure about other places but they’re available on Stan in Australia, and I really, REALLY enjoyed them. I’m a big fan of historical fiction and Philippa Gregory’s #TudorCourt and #CousinsWar series always fascinated me.‬ ‪ ‬ ‪These historical characters and events are what A Song of Ice and Fire is based on, so if you find the political side of Game of Thrones remotely interesting, chances are you might enjoy this series.‬ ‪ ‬ ‪But my favourite part is that The White Queen series made me way more interested in Margaret Beaufort and her religious fanaticism. She’s such a difficult character to like or identify with, even when she’s narrating #TheRedQueen but Amanda Hale brought her to life perfectly.‬ ‪ ‬ ‪Day 28:‬ ‪#AmpersandSept17: Saint‬ . . . . . . ‪ ‬ ‪#redbooks #historicalfiction #waroftheroses #gameofthrones #thewhitequeen #thewhiteprincess #bibliophile #booknerd #bookworm #bookstagramfeature #booknerdigans #bookishfeatures #booknow #bookphoto #bookphotography #bookish‬

ⒷⓄⓄⓀ ⓇⒺⓋⒾⒺⓌ The Queen's Fool Author: Philippa Gregory Genre: Historical Fiction My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Set between 1548 and 1558, this book is a part of Philippa Gregory's Tudor series. In this book, the rivalry between the first ever queens of England - Queen Mary the 1st and Queen Elizabeth the 1st was captured. A young girl Hannah Green, a Marrano girl escaping to England from Spain where her mother was burned at the stake for being Jewish, is discovered by Robert Dudley and John Dee and subsequently begged as a Holy fool to King Edward VI, for she has the power of sights, she can foresee future that no one else can predict. Later, she gets caught up in spywork for both Mary and Elizabeth and thus some of the great plots unravels in the reader's mind. Also, the great defeat of England in the war of Calais is vividly shown in this story. If you are a history buff, you will definitely love this book like all other great ones by Philippa Gregory. Some of the quite unknown details are shared in this book about the court dramas during the Queen Mary's reign. Quite a knowledge packed one to read. #bookstagram #bookreview #bookreviewer #indianbookreviewer #booklover #historicalfiction #historylover #tudor #tudorcourt (at Kolkata) https://www.instagram.com/p/CM_esEAndqZ/?igshid=eg8sabtnpxb

Visited Barnabees Books and found, amongst other books, the missing book in my collection of Philippa Gregory's #TudorCourt series. Also chatted to Tyona about books, bookshops, and soap and interested her in a print and matching business cards and postcards for the shop! . #bookaholic #authorsofinstagram #illustratorsofinstagram #bookloversguidetobookshops (at Barnabees)
