[5] 'Father Duty' || Castis Vakarian
[ 1 ], [ 2 ], [ 3 ], [ 4 ] by scent.2002 || Meta
Here we have:
Tumblr media
Take your kids to work day where precious little baby girl Solana (we're still polishing working on Solana and I couldn't decide whether she's younger sister or older sister — I feel like she's younger but also feel like she's older depending on the mood swings).
Garrus verbally and literally pointing out someone's form isn't proper because Dad taught him the proper way and Castis is just 'well, you heard my boy' — ah, yes, more delulu coming your way ♥
Solana is not at all happy to be there but she's the behaved one so she gets to be in daddy's holster.
Tumblr media
Garrus eating off dad's spicier plate because it's 'dad's spicier plate' and he wasn't going to back down to dad saying, "You're too young for this, Garrus. This is too spicy for y—."
Tumblr media
Look at the sheer determination to appease his father and his pride as a Vakarian. NOMNOMNOM LITTLE ANGEL ♥
Tumblr media
Dad making copies of work related files in his omni-tool because Solana decided to play with it and did cute little doodles and blamed it on Garrus.
Garrus gets a time out and doesn't know why. Dad won't tell him.

Don’t Leave Me Behind
They’d almost made it. Together. Just like she had promised. But, once again, things hadn’t gone according to plan. Kaidan felt a knot tightening in his chest as Natasha’s gloved hand landed against his cheek. Her piercing, bright blue eyes met his gaze before she quickly studied his face. He felt the contusions and cuts, but they didn’t matter. He had medigel. He could still make it.
“Look at me, Kay. How bad is it?” she asked as she met his gaze again. Her finger brushed against the small cut on his forehead, smearing the blood from the wound. Garrus watched over them, his head on a swivel as he made sure they were safe in this vulnerable moment. Kaidan looked up at Natasha as she knelt beside him and nodded his head.
“Yeah, I’m fine, Nat. We can do this. Just let me slap some medigel on it,” he answered through labored breaths. Several broken ribs wouldn’t stop him from finishing this mission. His hand moved to activate the automatic dispenser on his omni-tool. He couldn’t stop the wince that fell from his lips at the movement.
Natasha’s hand moved up to her ear as she activated her comms.
“Normandy, do you copy? I need an evac right now!”
Her tone was urgent and demanding, and he could sense the panic she felt as her eyes swept over his body, taking stock of his current condition. His armor had mostly done its job, but there’s only so much it could do to protect him from a mako exploding beside him. He quickly glanced toward the Turian on his left, noticing the scorch marks on his armor and wondered how bad he must look in comparison.
The knot in his chest tightened at her words, and all he could think about was the promise they’d made to one another the night before. This isn’t how this was supposed to happen. He was supposed to make it to the beam with her. They were supposed to make it to the end.
Together.
The sound of an engine drowned out everything else as the Normandy landed a short distance away, and Kaidan was hefted to his feet by Natasha and Garrus. They quickly led him toward the ship that would take him away from here. Away from her.
Kaidan’s heart began to race as the door to the docking bay opened to let them in.
No. She can’t go alone. She was alone over Alchera. She can’t be alone for this.
“Natasha, no!” he yelled as she started to move away, the space between them suddenly more painful than the broken ribs in his chest. Garrus was the one mostly supporting his weight now, and he kept his hold on the soldier as Natasha turned to face him.
“Kaidan, you have to go. You’re injured and I need you to be safe,” she answered as she stepped closer to him again. “If there’s one thing that will keep me going, it’s knowing that you’re okay.”
“Please, Nat, I can’t do it again.” Kaidan’s expression was pleading as he reached toward her. “You made me leave you behind over Alchera. Don’t leave me behind.” She hesitated for a moment, but then she stepped forward, falling back into his orbit. He found it easier to breathe again.
“I love you, Kay. Always,” she said as she reached up to cradle her hand against his cheek. Her tone had changed, softened, as she attempted to comfort him. “You have to let me do this. One last push, and then it’s over. We can finally rest.” It did nothing to assuage the tidal wave of guilt crashing over him. It felt too much like the Collector attack three years ago. He couldn’t shake the feeling that if he let her go, he’d never see her again.
“I love you too,” he replied, his voice breaking as he tried to hold back the tears threatening to spill from his eyes. He reached up and gripped her hand in his, squeezing it lightly before she pulled away.
They’re running out of time.
Vega suddenly appeared, attempting to help them get Kaidan aboard quickly so Natasha could return to the mission objective. He’s wearing his armor. And perfectly healthy.
Kaidan’s fingers roughly gripped the collar of Vega’s armor, pulling him close as London burned around them.
“You have to go with her, Vega,” Kaidan ordered. His tone was dark, and Vega stared at him for a moment as if processing what he’d said.
“Aye, aye, Major,” he finally agreed as he quickly glanced toward Natasha. She’d backed away from Kaidan slowly, watching them from a short distance.
“She survives this, or I’m holding you personally responsible, Vega. Do you understand me?” Kaidan’s tone was dark, and Vega nodded his head in answer.
Kaidan’s gaze wandered past the lieutenant, to where Natasha stood, waiting. They’ve already said their goodbyes, but he refused for this to be the end. She insisted this time. Last time she’d sent him away he’d watched her vitals fall as she’d spun over Alchera. So many things had been left unsaid, unfinished.
Not this time.
“Do whatever it takes. Just make sure she doesn’t try to do anything too… heroic.” His tone had softened as he looked into Vega’s eyes.
“Hey, don’t worry, L2. I’ll have her back to you in no time,” Vega answered, trying to reassure not just Kaidan, but also himself. They both knew that Natasha was willing to do whatever it took to end this. No matter the cost.
Kaidan swallowed the lump in his throat, knowing that last time he’d lost more than her. The same would happen today if she didn’t make it. The finale of the Reaper War was happening, and all he could do now was wait for its conclusion.
Losing her once was hard enough. He’d been a shell of himself, his world darkened without her presence. It would be even worse a second time.
“Come on, James! We have to get to the beam!” Natasha yelled over the chaos surrounding them.
Vega reached up, his hand gripping Kaidan’s which still clung to his collar. “Kaidan, trust me.”
“Just bring her back to me.”

Do you think in reverse, any of the alien races also tried those tips on befriending humans? Aliens bragging online how they totally rizzedd up a human with ridiculous advice, humans are just like "lol silly little guys" and humor it happily.
Are we bringing the "loser high elf with a human obsession" trend in here from my other blog? Because I am fully down to making a loser friendgroup of aliens who are creeps towards humans as much as they are endlessly curious.
And yes, oh definitely yes they are bragging online about tottally rizzing up this new shiny species who stumbled their way into the stars.
A turian posting on his twitter about how he's been assigned with a human in C-SEC, how he has been studying a lot of human rituals by watching Hollywood movies and reading mammal herd behaviours, not realising humans are categorised as predetors.
It's a long thread of him describing his "successful" attempts and encounters with the human.
He followed the human to lunch and made sure to eat next to them since the extranet articles talked about the importance of eating together in human culture.
Except the human was a messy eater and the turian's food ended up getting contaminated, resulting in the turian having a coughing fit, throwing up, passing out and waking up in the emergency care.
-
A salarian saw this thread and left a very long comment mansplaining human behaviour and how the turian was absolutely wrong and an idiot. The two of them argued back and forth in the comments during the turian's stay in the hospital.
Resulting in the salarian claiming he could befriend a human much faster and easier than the turian's pathetic attempt. Leading the turian to daring him to post it.
So he read any books he could find about human evolution and history. Confident that he could apply them on the next human tour group coming to Sur'kesh.
Human primitives loved climbing trees, correct? And Sur'kesh has lots of trees! Their closest relatives are in apes huh? The salarian knows just what to do with this information.
Imagine with me, you're a human tourist in an alien planet, following the polite salarian guide in the front and taking pictures of the lovely view. You're having a wonderful time.
Then out of nowhere, comes another salarian who stops in front of the whole tour group. The tour guide seems confused and you wonder if this was preplanned or not.
This random salarian begins speaking to the entire group very slowly as he states the fact that there are a lot of trees around here. Asking if anyone would like to join him in climbing one as a mutual show of trust and friendship.
You raise your camera as you watch this salarian who's worked in a bio lab all his life, struggling to climb one tree and very slowly making progress. When he reaches the top, he is reminded of the fact oh, heights and gravity exist, this is so much more terrifying than he thought it would be.
Now he's stuck on the tree, and the salarian tour guide is dialing up security to both come and get him down but also kick him out before he causes a human diplomatic incident.
The salarian's terrified at the top like a scared kitten. You climbed a lot of trees as a kid, and this one isn't even that tall, so you climb up there and offer to carry the salarian down, which he enthusiastically accepts.
Everyone is taking pictures and smiling, the tour guide is relieved that an incident was avoided.
Then the salarian in your arms, reaches into his pocket says he has just the thing to thank you with, kind human.
He takes out. A banana. Offering it to you.
The pictures and videos of him doing that end up on the galactic news the next day, you get word that the human ambassador Udina wants use this incident to demand compensation and sanctions on the salarians offensive gesture to a human tourist. The salarian government is very apologetic and panicking, ready to throw credits at the problem to solve it.
But you post a video on your social media laughing it off and saying it's fine. Putting an end to the incident before it escalates.
-
An asari sits in her office as she looks over the latest galactic news, the salarian's pathetic attempt at befriending a human that resulted in a diplomatic incident.
She sips on her coffee, a human delicacy, as she finally decides where she wants to spend her once-a-year break.
Booking the nearest ticket to Earth, she thinks, befriending humans cannot be that hard, right?
She has seen many humans in Thessia. She even talked to one once when they asked her for directions! Sure, she never really befriended any before, but they can't be that different from all the other species. After all, an asari can get anyone wrapped around their finger if she tries hard enough.
Landing on Earth, she realises just why it was called the blue planet. The sky is very blue, almost aggressively so and the sun here hurts to look at, unlike the gentle one in Thessia.
There are so many humans around, not a sign of a single alien in sight. All of them walking with a purpose, some taking their animals to a stroll and oh wow that dog is bigger than any varren she has ever seen, how did that human tame it?
Some give her a pacing glance, and others are indifferent to her. She keeps trying to strike up a conversation but everyone just declines and say they're busy or in a hurry.
Strange, the humans on the citadel are much more friendly. An asari could walk up to a group and demand their attention just like that, why are the ones here so different?
Eventually she spots an older woman, ah yes a human Matriarch! Just perfect. She goes to the elder woman sitting on a bench while feeding the pigeons.
The woman smiles, wrinkles in her face from a life full of happiness, greeting the blue lady. The two of them sit together and have a talk, the old woman is very patient and understanding with the asari as she explains that this is just how humans are, how the ones on the citadel are a very select view who are enthusiastic about aliens.
The asair is stunned to learn that this woman is merely 78 years old, yet she holds so much wisdom and charm. They spend the entire day talking and watch the sunset together.
By the end, the old woman apologises for having to leave, saying her grandkids are visiting tonight and she must go back home. But she will be here tomorrow if the asair wants to continue the chat.
Day after day, week after week. The asair keeps meeting up with her snd talking, about nothing and everything, life and its meaning, the sky and its colours, love and its sisters.
The asari asks if the old woman has her spouse in her life still, the old woman smiles, full of melancholy as she shakes her head no.
Reading on human mating rituals, the asari starts bringing the old woman flowers, red in colour and varied in shapes. A box of sweets that the old woman kindly declines because of her blood sugar, yet the asari doesn't give up and comes the next day with a box of dark chocolate.
By the end of the month, the asari brings her final gift to the old woman. A small red box that fits perfectly into her balm. The old woman has to put her glasses back on as the asari opens the box to be able to see what's inside.
Getting on one knee, the asari opens the box to present a shiny ring inside, she asks cautiously if she'd like to come back with her to Thessia to live the rest of their lives together.
The old woman smiles, the asari grew found of her smiles, so gentle and warm. Reaching with her shakey hands, she takes the box and admires the beautiful ring inside. She chuckles with delight at the flattering implication as she puts the ring back in the box and hands it to the asari.
Patting her head, the 78 human woman tells the 600 asari woman to go find a young girl her age to marry. How she basically sees her as a granddaughter.
The asari comes back home with a newfound hatred for Earth, attempting to cope with having her heartbroken by a single human who hasn't passed their first century yet.

Study Group Pt. 2 (Garrus x Mshep)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing:  Garrus Vakarian x Male Shepard Rating: Explicit Words: 1267 POV: Third Summary: The Big Tober Day 4 - Alienfucking Note: Sequel to this work from 2 years ago Tags: edging, dry orgasm, assholes in love, big alien dick, talk of breeding, safe sex because protein incompatibility, handjob & coming untouched
“I just don’t get it,” Garrus huffed, throwing the datapad Shepard had prepared for him to study onto the coffee table. Shepard sighed and leaned back on the sofa, taking the cup of beer with him as he went. The commander took a big swig. He had explained the concept multiple times to Garrus, but the whole idea of how it all could be pleasurable was beyond the Turian. “I’m sorry, Hyven,” Garrus purred, taking Shepard's hand in his own and leaving a soft kiss on it, which was more a press of the mouth than anything else, lacking lips and all. Shepard could be frustrated all he wanted, but in the end he was just a sucker for his alien boyfriend.
Shepard then got the perfect idea. He had this wolfish grin on him all of the sudden that told Garrus enough. “What if I just… showed you?” Shepard used their intertwined hands to pull Garrus off his balance, putting his face really close to Garrus’. “Maybe you’ll get it once you’ve experienced it yourself.”
Shepard could see the heavy gulp. He watched the gears turn in his boyfriend’s head. He did not know what calculations - or calibrations - Garrus was running in that beautiful head of his, but Shepard waited patiently. He let the other man do what he needed to do and respond when he was ready. It took Garrus a good minute, before he spoke up. “Ok.”
Shepard had his boyfriend and himself naked on his bed in no time. A condom was the only thing separating the commander’s hand from the hot blue cock that pulsed inside it. Shepard admired each ridge and bump on it as his lubed hand glided all over it. Garrus was making the loveliest of noises, all soft and encouraging. Shepard wondered what he would hear if he had the capacity to properly hear the subvocals as well. He wondered what he would hear if the translator could actually pick up on every word.
The human squeezed his alien boyfriend’s cock, giving it a tight grip downwards, then loosening it up as he went back up. Shepard could do this all day, having some down-time, relaxing, just him and the melody of Garrus. It was easy to tell when Garrus was starting to lose his patience. The Turian started thrusting into Shepard’s hand, longing for his orgasm. Shepard sped up, fingers dancing over the blue skin, knowing exactly under which ridge to press and where across the tapered head to swipe over it. Garrus swore up a storm as he got close to orgasm.
Shepard’s smirk turned almost devilish as he waited for the right moment. Garrus was tensing up and the human knew that was his que to let go. Garrus groaned as he was denied his orgasm. Heavy breaths left the Turian as he came down from that experience. “And you like this?” Garrus questioned, the inquiry telling Shepard enough about how much Garrus liked being edged.
Shepard chuckled. “I guess? I mean it is torture, but you can edge me for hours and the eventual orgasm is so much better.” Shepard shrugged. “What about I show you the other thing?” Garrus shook his head, shifting to start grabbing stuff.
“If you like it so much, how about we try it on you?” Garrus grunted as he took a hold of Shepard. The man relaxed, letting his boyfriend put him on his hands and knees. Garrus knew by now which toys to grab, prepping Shepard without having to jam his claws inside. In the past months they have found the motions that worked. They went through it, getting everything, warming each other up. The small dildo was first. Shepard took it with ease, the stretch familiar and the lube helping a long way. He put his elbows down, getting a little more comfortable, while he made Garrus do most of the work. “You’re lazy today,” Garrus joked, switching to the medium dildo a little sooner than he usually would. Shepard hissed, letting out a soft and low moan as Garrus pushed it in to the base.
“I just gave you an amazing handjob. You’re quite demanding today,” Shepard commented back, shaking his ass a little in spite of knowing that Turians were no ass-loving people. The hips and waist were much more a point of interest. Like it was right on que, Garrus grabbed Shepard’s hips and held him in place, while he thrusted the dildo in slow and deep. Shepard whimpered whenever it hit his deepest spot. He had to give it to Garrus, it was a very effective way of shutting him up.
About half an hour later, Garrus was on his back, Shepard riding him eagerly. The cock had so much texture; it stimulated every nerve inside the commander. Shepard sang his song of pleasure on top of the Turian. Claws pressed shapes into his thighs, the pain just egging him on. He felt his orgasm building. Once he was close enough, he lifted himself halfway off Garrus and stroked himself. Those icy blue eyes drank in the image of him stroking vigorously, only to stop and squeeze the base at the last moment. Shepard moaned through his orgasm, keeping himself from ejaculating.
His breath was as ragged as after a battle and the entire dishevelled image of him drove Garrus wild. He picked Shepard up, carrying him across the room to the fishtank, pressing his back against it. Blue light highlighted Shepard’s silhouette as Garrus slid back inside. “So how often can you have an orgasm like that?” Garrus purred, before running his tongue along the muscle in Shepard’s neck. He could taste the remnants of the female Turian pheromones he had put on his mate earlier. Shepard mewled at the stimulation, mind too focused on the pleasure of Garrus’ flared cock to answer. “Shepard?”
The lack of a nickname and the pause of the thrusts drew Shepard back to reality. “Huh? Just…” He wiggled against the fishtank, seeking stimulation with Garrus’ cock still inside him. “Just fuck me and find out,” he whined wantonly. It shattered Garrus’ every ounce of self-control. He took a better hold of the other man and pressed their bodies together, sandwiching Shepard between the fishtank and Garrus’ plates chest.
The human made sounds no Turian ever could and every single one of them was thrilling, driving the Turian wild with possessive need. He got a little too excited, not hearing all the words Shepard was moaning. He barely fished out the words ‘I’m going to cum’ and instead of trying out what Shepard had shown him earlier, he went wild with the need of breeding his mate. Shepard howled with pleasure, words not coming together anymore to form even a single coherent sentence. Garrus felt like his world was nothing but white when he came deep inside his boyfriend, the condom not stopping him from feeling the satisfaction of breeding a mate.
When he was past the peak, he became aware of the wetness on his abdomen. “Damn Garrus,” Shepard chuckled, holding onto Garrus for dear life as he came down from his own high. “You’re a slow learner today.” Garrus gently pulled himself out and carried Shepard to the bed. “You were supposed to give me a dozen dry orgasms, you know.”
“Trial and error is the best way to learn,” Garrus deadpanned as he deposited his human boyfriend onto the bed. “So…” Garrus grinned as he got rid of the condom, eyes running over Shepard’s glistening body. “What about another study session later tonight?”

Mass Effect is this really interesting case study of male-as-default vs female-as-default in non human species, because they give us such prominent examples of both.
Turians, salarians, and krogan all have women, yet none are seen on screen until the third game, and even then we get like, one of each in minor roles. Less prominent species like hanar, volus and elcor all have male voices, despite hanar being canonically genderless and volus' gender being considered a 'mystery'. It would've been easy to include female voice actors to any of these, or have an alien with a typically "male" sounding voice be referred to by she/her pronouns (frankly that would make sense for elcor and krogan, but by the time we finally get a krogan woman she sounds just like an ordinary human woman). And this isn't even getting into referring to genderless aliens with neutral pronouns, which seems to never have occurred to anyone as an option (fair enough, they/them pronouns weren’t exactly mainstream in 2007).
But no. The idea of gender as removed from human defaults to male, either visually, vocally, or in terms of pronouns. Voices meant to sound genderless, such as Legion and the hanar, still have male voice actors. None if of this is ever in-game commented upon. It’s just How It Is. The only species other than human in which we see a fairly equal balance of men to women is the quarians, interestingly one of the most human looking aliens outside of asari.
With the all female asari however, not only are they designed to look explicitly human (which they then in-game try to weasel themselves out of by going 'but ALL species find the asari hot, not just humans!' as if we don’t all have eyes), we are also beaten over the head with it constanly. Every single bar you walk into, there are half naked asari dancers. You are constantly hearing background chatter about how hot they are. A genderless character coded as female HAS to be explicitly and traditionally hot, while anything removed from that defaults to male.
The closest we get to non-human looking women is the rachni queen (which I'm guessing is only because of the age old trope of the queen of an insect hive mind) and EDI before she is given a body (at which point we are again beaten over the head with 'non-human coded as female (EDI) has to be hot' vs 'non-human coded as male (geth) get to be actually removed from human').

A small comic strip with Wrex and Garrus with a reference to the Lord of the Rings. Timeline ME1
Once I came across a meme on Tumblr that Garrus and Wrex are literally Legolas and Gimli placed in space. And I can partly agree with this, their mutual skirmishes are indeed similar in some respects, but only during the events of the first part of the game . .
Read the whole text:
In fact, they knew each other even before Shepard’s arrival at the Citadel. Wrex was often detained by C-Sec for a variety of reasons, and that's where he met future Archangel. Wrex's love of teasing every turian and salarian he met could not bypass Garrus too, but unlike other turians, who usually silently endured sarcastic krogan's insults until the last, Garrus always said Wrex back without fear and constraint.
Wrex had already met Garrus's father before when the second one was a young C-Sec officer, and he couldn't help noticing how similar and different the younger and older Vakarian are at the same time. But he definitely liked the younger one much more, because Garrus, unlike his father, was not devoid of a sense of humor and self-irony.
Wrex had never seen Garrus in combat, but the latter's reputation spoke for itself. As a whole, before meeting Shepard, Wrex already had some impression of the turian.
"Youngster, what to take from him so far. He’s obviously green yet, but he'll definitely do some good”
Once on the Normandy, Wrex didn’t even think to stop openly teasing Garrus with or without a reason. As Shepard's constant companions in combat and spending most of their free time in the hold, they were side by side with each other almost all the time.
Wrex also noticed that the turian quickly won over not only him. Shepard regularly went down to the hold to chat with Garrus about a variety of things and, sometimes, stayed there long. Since her childhood, the turians were the most unusual, interesting and at the same time frightening race for her, that she was so eager to learn more about. All the books were studied to the holes, the extranet was rummaged through, and her father, who had already encountered them, was asked all sorts of questions.
During his years at C-Sec, Garrus had dealt with almost all known races, including humans, but he knew little about the latter and mostly negative. And this is not surprising, because after The First Contact War, humans and the turians were hostile to each other, and many people raised their children, cultivating in them hostility to an alien race. Fortunately, this did not affect Shepard, so as Garrus who was always neutral to humans. Her interest in his people was unexpected for him, but he readily answered all her questions time after time. Later, as he got used to the new environment and his new superiors, he dared to ask Shepard questions himself: about humans, about herself, about their mission. The interest was mutual, five-minute conversations eventually turned into half-hour ones, and sometimes they completely lost track of time. Well, Wrex, being nearby, now and then put his two cents.
The only one of Shepard's companions who was clearly unfriendly to Garrus, and to the other aliens on board, was Ashley. While in the hold, she tried to ignore the aliens next to her, but it was impossible not to notice how tense she always was, and how much she was disgusted by all these non-human races. And while she was more or less neutral towards Tali and Liara, given that neither of them often caught her eye, then Garrus and Wrex were much more unlucky. She didn't hesitate to speak disparagingly of them in their presence, talking to Shepard or any of her new friends on board. She didn't answer Garrus' questions about weapons or the mission, and didn't even look up, as if he wasn't even there. They spoke only on missions, exchanging standard phrases in battle. Garrus simply put up with her attitude in his direction, the sneers and hurtful words from her and her cronies, but would never say a word against her. Especially a woman. Especially a woman of another race. With Wrex, by the way, Ashley did’t dare to treat like that, and therefore the turian was the only easy target for her. Wrex had long taken his behavior for softness, and generally admired his endurance, so he often stood up for Garrus if he was around. By the way, after one incident on board, Ashley changed her anger to mercy, and the open taunting from her side stopped.
- If I were you, I'd bite their heads off a long time ago. What are you, lad, pissing in front of some pyjaks?
- I just don't want to cause conflicts on an alien ship, Wrex.
Wrex could have died on Virmire. Infuriated by Shepard's decision to destroy Saren's krogan-growing laboratories, he nearly shot her. The situation was extremely tense. All the companions, including Garrus and the salarians, were on alert, waiting for any signal from Shepard to eliminate the problem in the form of an enraged krogan. But there was no signal. During the entire flight, Shepard got to know Wrex enough to understand that the information about a possible cure for the genophage simply clouded his mind. Convinced that this was definitely not the future he would have wished for his people, Wrex came around and lowered his gun.
When he returned to the Normandy, he went to Garrus first, who, somehow in his own sad way, kept glancing at the empty space next to the armory.
- Would you really shoot me?
- You pointed a gun at Shepard, Wrex, I'd have to. But the Normandy would definitely be more boring without you.
- Huh, well, if so, then I forgive you.
Much later, after getting valuable information from Vigil on Ilos, passing through the Conduit and ending up on the Citadel, the team splited up, and Shepard with Garrus and Wrex went to the Citadel Tower on foot to finally deal with Saren and put an end to this story. But that was just the beginning.
Wrex did not know then how much the young turian would mean to him in the future, how much he and Shepard would do for him and the entire krogan race, and how much, for the first time in his life, he would regret that the krogan lived so long and the turians and humans so unforgivably little. Their relationship wasn't always smooth at first. Old grievances of the past years kept popping up in conversations. But they found common ground rather quickly, and during the time they spent together, they were able to understand themselves and each other better.
And yes, getting back to the subject of the post, the relationship of Garrus and Wrex really somewhat resembles the relationship of Legolas and Gimli from The LotR, but only at the beginning of the journey, when their friendship was just starting, dark times were still ahead, and their jokes were above the belt :D . .
I almost died while translating this text from my native language into English, but I made it
Many of my future posts will be plot and informative, and I will try to write it in such a way that it will be interesting for you to read it and delve into my headcanons ♥ . .

I don’t know quite what I was expecting to encounter when booting up Mass Effect 2 after six months, but hearing one of my companions sing an alien rendition of “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General” wasn’t it.
Anyway, I will now be singing “am the very model of a scientist Salarian, I've studied species, Turian, Asari, and Batarian, I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology), because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology)” until further notice.

[3] 'Truce' || Castis & Garrus Vakarian
[ 1 ], [ 2 ], by scent.2002 || Meta
So as you know, I have been in this continuous descent of Castis Vakarian thirsting and I just remembered a really fond memory of my grandfather and I when I would be a spoiled little shit. I mean I wasn't really a spoiled child, but I was spoiled by my grandfather a lot.
So after being reprimanded, my stupid little heart would take it soooo personally and won't talk to my granddad until I just fall asleep from crying. Hours later, I'll awake up asleep on his chest.
So.
Have a post-argument sleepy times with daddy Castis and this cute little chub, Garrus. I wanna say Mrs. Vakarian lovingly placed the itty, bitty, baby on sleepy grumpy dad ♥.

You know who in the Mass Effect universe would be really interesting people who we don’t see? the Asari ambassadors to the Turians and Salarians.
Like, someone who technically has no role in their government, but has been studying and participating in it for longer than anyone in government has been alive. Primarchs and Dalatrasses come and go, but the ambassador is constant (and she has an assistant waiting in the wings to take over who’s been her assistant for longer than the current officials have been alive)
so there’s a sense where she knows the culture she’s embedded herself in as well as the people who live it do. She knows how it’s changed recently; there are a few things that the current generation thinks of as traditions that they’ve done all their lives that she remembers when they started. she has to be a giant nerd for things like that. prerequisite for the position.
and she knows people well. being well-networked is part of the job (also, Asari leadership is about being on a first-name basis with as many useful people as possible). both on the Asari side and the culture they’re working with.
Asari don’t like to do the work of ruling over other people, that’s why their homeworld is mostly city-states. but despite that their ambassadors would have an enormous amount of influence

GODDESS BLESS THE QUEEN 2.0
CHAPTER 4: A WARLIKE SOCIETY
Read Here on AO3
A skeptical expression was indelibly upon Tevos’s features and her legs were rendered inoperable. In nonplussed stupor she could not comprehend what was being demanded of her. That she was expected to accept ignorance as the conclusion of the Dantrida probe was madness, especially without knowing why. The matriarchs’ machinations were subversive of the Council to a degree Tevos could not abide, regardless of their aim. “I know what you’re thinking,” said Theralia. “I see Ralleus in you, that turian righteousness I once identified as virtue. I see now that it curtails you in practical matters.”  “It is not a weakness,” said Tevos, her jaw stiff from suppressing indignation. “I dedicated half my life to studying ethics and the edification of society.” With undue disdain, Theralia retorted, “Then study more. For you as asari councilor should never claim to observe immaculate ethics. Doing so would require dereliction of duty.”

Hi, thanks for the ask! 👋
Cut Me Open is the title of chapter two of Singularity. This fic is my favorite child. I live off writing emotions and sensory details, and this is me going wild, writing for myself. I imagined a scenario where Shepard wakes up a bit too early and has partial amnesia, and when she goes to pick up Archangel her voice is fucked up and she's hiding her heavily scarred face with a hood, so he doesn't recognize her. I think it's a really fun scenario to play with! It's rough, but here's a peek.
Crossing his arms, Garrus leans his hip against the counter, stretching his neck side to side, then rolling his shoulders. A sensation tingles up the back of her neck and her breath catches. They really never had sex before? The way she feels about him, the way her body reacts thinking about him, can’t be new.   “You’re sure you want to come?” she asks, giving him one last chance to say no. “You’re okay leaving your team on Omega?” He nods, looking more confident and less shaken, less like an unsure recruit and more like the vigilante that sauntered into the room and straddled a chair while his piercing eyes studied her. “You said yourself I could use a break,” he says with a cocky smile that pushes a thousand cocky smiles to the surface of her memory.   “I’ll see you on the ship then?” “What’s the name?”  Of course, he needs to know which ship to board. Where the hell is her head? “The Normandy.” He finds that amusing, and looks a little lighter. “Hm, Cerberus thinks they can manipulate you with shiny, nostalgic toys.” Her brows tick. “I’d need to remember it to be manipulated. The pilot is happy with it, at least. Calls it his baby.” His mandibles spread slightly, a slice of joy. “Joker’s back?” She answers with an indifferent shrug. “I don’t remember him, though.” “Anyone else from the old crew on board?” “Yes, several people, but I don’t remember them either.” She sounds like a glitched vid.  “What do you remember?” he asks, sadness creeping back into his voice.  “Just you,” she says before looking him square in the eye, a moment passes between them as she tries to understand why he’s the only thing she remembers. Why him?  Why this turian and why does she feel so pulled in by him? Based on his expression, she thinks he might be asking himself the same question. Neither of them says a word, though, so she turns to the door and as she walks out of the room something tugs at her, begging her to not leave his side.
