Found this random bug in the house and turns out, I know what it is!

It’s a Cuckoo Wasp (Chrysis angolensis). Identified female by the 3 segment abdomen.

They parasitize other solitary wasps by laying eggs in their nests much like a Cuckoo bird. But they are unable to sting, nonaggressive, and mainly feed off nectar. They’re often found in deserts.

Fun fact: Bill-mantis and Ford-moth are inspired by real bug species! They’re represented by Spiny Flower Mantis and Virginia Creeper Sphinx :]

Next batch of breed re-imagining is here, this time with aethers and fae. It may be just me, but I’ve always associated Arcane with bugs, cephalopods, and rodents, and since a cephalopod take would alter them too much I went with rodent bug buddies.

Bonus of head cannon sizing compared to the previous gaolers and tundras.
