Morgan Stephens at Daily Kos:
Behind the scenes, President Joe Biden’s team has been preparing for his big final weeks in office, regardless of who won the 2024 election. “The schedule will be robust and he plans to leave it all on the field,” White House communications director Ben LaBolt told NBC News in September.  During his speech to the nation last Wednesday, Biden addressed some of his administration’s final priorities, including a focus on infrastructure spending, which was a major legislative accomplishment of his presidency. "We're going to see over a trillion dollars' worth of infrastructure work done, changing people's lives in rural communities and communities that are in real difficulty," the president said.  In addition to getting infrastructure projects off the ground before Trump takes office, White House advisers said Biden will also work to safeguard freedoms the president believes are under threat, strengthen global alliances, and take steps to reduce costs for Americans.

From someone with a degree in International Relations:
Trump’s tariffs are not a good policy. They will hurt the American people far more than any of the countries they are intended to target. They will alienate the US from the majority of its allies. If the tariffs continue, recession is on the horizon.
I suspect that this outcome actually aligns with the goals of the Trump Administration. Starting with the very public criticism of Ukraine and Zelensky (largely based on misinformation) Trump is attempting to shift the United States’ international position so that it is allied more closely with Russia than any other country.
Claiming control of Greenland and Canada also positions the United States with Russia. In addition to desensitizing the American people to imperialism, it is a way of asserting control of the Arctic. Russia has continuously attempted to violate UNCLOS by claiming the Arctic as Russian territory. Trump likely intends to either support the Russian claim or make a similar false claim on behalf of the United States.
TLDR: Trump is either working in the best interests of Russia at the expense of the US and/or he is gearing up for a full on return to imperialism.

Perhaps part of the problem is people only see russia as a regional power. Which it is. But it is trying to be a world power and its using conventional and unconventional warfare to do so. It's throwing its weight around and doing everything possible to get in a top position, to make itself great again. If it can't be an equal economically, it will try to militarily. If it can't quite match up militarily, it will use psychological warfare and underhanded and illegal means to get what it wants. It isn't going to stop until it gets that recognition, like a petulant child trying to bully his way to the top of the class (using bombs and psychological manipulation and cyberattacks)
The question is, will we realize what russia is trying to do and act to stop it-- or will we eventually cave in and give it what it wants?

It was a hell of a night. Ugh.
For Freedom’s Sake
Hollow chest, a silent scream,
The fading glint of a fragile dream.
I thought we were stronger, thought we knew—
The price paid by the brave, the few.
They fought in fields far from here,
For freedom’s cause, so bright, so clear.
And now, in shadows deep and long,
I question all—were we wrong?
To think that justice, once hard-won,
Could be undone, come so undone?
By hands that grasp for power’s thrill,
By voices loud, and hearts so still.
Yet I am here, my spirit bare,
With anger, hope, a quiet prayer.
I was born free—I’ll guard that light,
Against the creeping, endless night.
For though it hurts and though I fear,
I’ll stand my ground and keep it near.
For Ukraine, for lands across the sea,
For every soul who longs to be free.
This isn’t over—not while I breathe,
Not while I hold to what I believe.
So let the winds of doubt blow strong—
I’ll fight for right, where I belong.

"In comparison to institutions like the police."
😂
Except for the obvious and most important point that the military works for YOU. Literally. Unlike the police who can and will just shoot the citizens of this country without taking responsibility.
So if you don't like what the military is doing then vote properly and change it.
What the military does or doesn't do comes back to YOUR administration that YOU voted in, and therefore, YOUR choice. It's YOU sending messages to YOUR representatives (or your failure to do so).
These are the consequences of YOUR actions. If you don't like it, change it.
You do not have a coherent or cohesive worldview if your understanding of the military is that one dimensional and limited. You have just said that you don't know what a military is, or even what a country is or what it does, or how it interacts with other countries.
If a military person is "evil" because they support an institution that does terrible things, then you, the worker at Amazon or Google, or the cashier at Walmart, or the user of Twitter, are equally evil because you also support an institution that does terrible things. You support billionaires and enable their continued suppression of people just like you, you enable them to destroy local business, to meddle in the media and affairs of other governments, to stage a government takeover...
Or maybe, it's almost as if it's not the individual's fault what the institution does, and your problematic job isn't any different from someone else's.
At least the military has a professional code of conduct and is steered by the people's vote. Can't say the same thing about the billionaire-run corporations so many of you like to work for.
a lot of American leftists refuse to see members of the American military in the same light as other groups who commit atrocities because they have a personal connection to people who’ve been a part of it. But there’s no world where you can have a cohesive worldview and somehow see the US military (a completely voluntary military service) as unique and innocent in comparison to institutions like the police, border police, the IDF, etc. the lengths people will go to try and absolve these people of their actions is insane

Kyiv Post:
US President Donald Trump’s administration is reportedly planning to revoke the temporary legal status of almost a quarter million Ukrainian refugees who fled the country at the outset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, according to a senior Trump official and three sources familiar with the matter. However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later denied the reports on X, adding that “no decision has been made at this time.” The decision, reportedly expected in April, could lead to the accelerated deportation of roughly 240,000 Ukrainians, Reuters sources claimed. The move would mark a dramatic shift from the US’s previous support for Kyiv and its war refugees over the past three years. Sources also revealed that preparations for ending these programs had begun even before Trump’s recent public clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
This is yet more solid proof that 47 is a Russian asset.

In the dim corridors of global diplomacy, something stirs beneath the surface. Next week, under the heavy veil of secrecy, Russian and Ukrainian officials will meet face-to-face in Ankara, Türkiye. According to a chilling report from CNN Turk, the delegations are set to converge at the Turkish Naval Forces headquarters — not to celebrate peace, but to gamble with the future of the Black Sea, a region steeped in blood and betrayal.
