sorry hi last reblog has me thinking about how i havent played in awhile. i haven't been a fan of the recent updates they're far too 'content production'-y for me. but i just want to express i think many of the best moments in gw2 story have been when the writing is utter camp slop that the writers were clearly extremely emotionally invested in, completely regardless of their production timeframes or budget. my opinion basically is guild wars 2 is better when it's worse

#my stuff #technically id say pof had really high production value but it was also such an anomaly right #hot off the heels of HoT with both nothing and everything to lose #i admire their tactic of being like what can we do to redeem our objectively sort of mid mmo after our first xpac just bombed?#we know. kill the player character. [american psycho william dafoe forehead slap gif]#no but really i do think its a problem its trying to be more 'professional' now #its choking itself trying to do the same things that major riot and blizz releases do #where theyre really high budget polished formulaic. like a marvel movie #except gw2 doesnt even have that budget now still so what theyre effectively accomplishing is choking the soul out of it #while also making it less unique compared to every other comparable product out there #i dont think people really like mmos because theyre 'good' they like them because theyre fun and generally let you do whatever you want #i think ones that do a better job financially seem to be ones that focus foremost on how fun combat is #and secondly how much they can indulge the player in various silly whimsies. which involve money #this is often why the stories are great. and camp. because they are often shafted and therefore bad #and therefore some random gay writer can shoehorn in whatever weird eccentric horseslop they want #random stealth trans writer whos cubicle has dune figurines in it: yeah this chapter will mostly focus on the main characters emotional --#conflicts and bodily autonomy juxtaposed with the lore of our magic universe's growing entropy #execs: ok. well can that be gamified? is it toyetic?#writer: yeah sure #execs: right sounds fine we'll just ship whatever it is then #but then they start firing everyone and bringing in third parties who write based off 'market research' and not vibes or art #and thats when it gets actual bad bad

learning spanish as a foreign language and having the opposite distribution of understanding to my heritage language, as in the type of language i’m having the most trouble understanding is simple everyday language spoken around family. sure i can read this scientific article fairly easily but god forbid my bf’s mom asks me what i want for dinner

#to expand: lotta latin based vocab in english but which tends to be more advanced vocab while simpler everyday language tends to be germanic #and such as an eng speaker reading more complex stuff in spanish is like playing spot that latin cognate #also idk if this is true at all but it feels to me the grammar that’s hardest to parse as an eng speaker is like stuff with object pronouns #the amount of time it takes me to understand a sentence with se lo in it 😬 and i feel like that shows up much less in more complex topics #and then on the other hand chinese i think is probably uniquely difficult to read when there’s words u don’t know #like id say im fairly ok at reading chinese but man having to search up those unfamiliar words sucksssss #and it’s the easiest it’s ever been imagine having to use a paper dictionary. yowch #and of course just the general language thing of language they teach u as a foreign learner being very different to its use in real life #especially in casual contexts #so yea. anyway i like spanish a lot this is just an interesting thing im noticing

Did or does anything inspire your art? It’s so fun and unique

I do have artists (both Established and like Peers/Mutuals) I enjoy and I do pluck traits from art I like as I see fit to mold my own but I don't have any conscious inspiration ykwim...ive had ppl tell me my art looks like or reminds them of things i like, whether "vibe based" (stuffed animals) or a specific media (care bears) but i dont consciously draw inspiration from care bears ykwim... I could tell u i loved archie comics as a kid and i love the art style but thats not a good answer to the question bc it doesnt present itself in my work (and if it does its not on purpose) ykwim...i hope dis makes sense.

I always bring up Urasawa when this question comes up, like I love urasawa's art and often save lots of it for inspiration but my work doesnt really ever come out as an emulation of his as a result, it's more osmosed as I try to figure out how I want to draw, bc I haven't seen anyone who draws the way I'd like to yet. (Also using him as an example, as this is how I feel about all my other "inspirations").

Theres tons of different ways to draw every possible trait of a face or body etc, so I just do that, taking shapes and such from other artists i observe along the way without really picking up the influence (and if i do its never for very long), since I've yet to find anything im very happy with

#ive never understood how people do those inspiration boards and you can SEE how all the people they list influence their art #if i could scrounge together enough artists that inspire me then i dont think you'd even be able to tell unless you Guessed #if that makes sense #similarly i do have thousands of folders of artists and mutuals' art i have saved #to go look back at for inspiration...but its not direct inspiration #like zaftiguy2 on twitter (NSFW) is an inspiration of mine....you would never guess though bc what I osmose from his work doesn't #present itself very upfront in my stuff‚ if at all #does this make sense? i feel when ppl ask others this question is bc they wanna see more art adjacent to that of the person theyre asking #but unfortunately its not like that for me ykwim :(#id be much much better if there was someone who drew the way i want to draw that i could copy off of LOL #my art is so bad BECAUSE i feel like im making it from scratch. and im bad at coming up with things #anonymous #skunk mail #so thank u for thinking its unique bc i personally think its very generic as a result #like. entry level art style #off the top of my head artists i LIKE are kemafili manaohu and yawningyawns #on twitter....kemafili is on here though (kemafili1 on twitter)#those are artists i have in my ''fave'' folder. theres others i think but thats the only ones i can think of rn #i also have tons of artist folders saved in general but read my above statements about inspiration #eraserplains is another one... they're on tumblr too #i like raymodule (tumblr) and robottoast (twitter) but again not in a way where im like wow i want to draw exactly like that lets try

is it an unpopular oppie (cute way of saying opinion) to think that stories with only 1 or 2 gender customisable LIs is kind of the way to go moving forward for choices 🧍

like the main issue ppl have been having seems to be the quality of the books n their subject matter, n the quantity of LIs won't fix that? back when it WAS the norm to have 3+ LIs per book every non-whiteman LI would get sidelined and treated like shit by the plot. at least now when the plot railroads you into spending more time w one LI u can choose their gender/appearance, and it's easier to split screentime equally between 2 LIs compared to for example 4

plus limiting it to less LIs allows the story more time to flesh out characters n ur relationships w them. it's easier to incoprorate LIs into the plot n make them important + impactful when there's less of them

OBVIOUSLY none of this is ideal and their whole business model is a bit garbáge, these are simply my thoughts !

#playchoices #im of the belief that this app is a bit of a sinking ship and i am not super hopeful that things will improve in the way a lot of ppl want #but the 1-2 LI model has worked best for their recent books considering their propensity of hurling all their resources toward developing #ONE li and their romance w mc and centering the entire plot around them #like open heart wouldve been so much more bearable if ethan was customisable id enjoy being scolded by a hot woman doctor a lot more #same w beckett #they have an issue w making lis very generic in later books too n this kinda solves that #easier to write 1 or 2 unique romances for a book than 4 #im working within the confines of what i think r realistic for this game obvsly but ya. idk i don't mind it so much as long as the book #itself is interesting enuf to catch my attention #which unfortunately it is not. and that is the main issue 4 me #plus vip boooo me and my homies hate the vip model booo #stfu nisa

yknow what im going to be honest i dont like this.

#not going to tag this bcs i dont wanna put baseless negativity in the tags #but its about that one horror game series that im a big fan of #i just dont trust the new things that's being released.#the podcast was cool but it was definitely a huge risk. adding voice and lore this solid could have ruined the whole thing.#the designs of the characters in the 3rd game feel off to me.#and now the comic is pushing its luck too. it doesn't have the same vibe as the old ones. it doesn't have the same vibe as the games at all #everything that's being revealed #from the aforementioned new enemies to this comic #reminds me vibewise much more of survival horror. particularly the mainstream kind #like silent hill or resident evil #these arent bad games but they are NOT like what this game is #and i became a fan of this game because it had this unique vibe #if this fucking studio will ruin it because they don't know how to handle it and will try to make it fit into a more general style of horro #then ill end up on the news #i didnt trust them from the start whyyyyyy why would you fucking give it to some stupid fucks that dont get how to do this shit #id prefer the franchise ended on the 2nd game rather than this honestly.

Cant sleep bc tummy hurts but its given me more time to think about my personal Zelda iteration and I think I finally came up with what this settings version of ganon is and it's really fun

I realized earlier that I had accidentally created themes of duality and trying to reconcile the different parts of yourself with Zelda and Links characters and I had already wanted to make this version of Ganon two seperate characters (inspired by the twinrova.)

So I have this idea of a rogue Gerudo who wants power and control, thinks the Gerudo people deserve it, and of course she should lead them. I'm gonna call her Gala but I havent settled on a name yet. She either summons or finds Ganon and hes this horrible beastial monster, barely has form, and all it does is hunger. Gala starts setting up more and more raids to feed this thing, thinking that by feeding it she can control it and its power.

The other Gerudo dont want this, this is insane, trying to raise Ganon back up? Gala has always been an intense woman but they never realized how much she craved power and control. She beats down anyone who tries to stop her, many Gerudo die or become possessed and mindlessly work for her. Many more flee further into Hyrule.

A small detail is Zelda and Link learn that the raids have been hitting a pig farm really hard, most of the livestock taken.

By the time the duo find Gala, Ganon has taken on structure, a massive monstrous pig like thing, barely held back by whatever Gala is binding it with. She's so proud of her monster, so happy that the Princess and her Knight are here to see the start of her reign. She releases Ganon, intending the two to be its first victims.

This monster doesn't know friend from foe, it only knows Hunger. Gala is directly infront of it. She turns just in time to see its jaws come down around her.

Ganon starts shifting, changing, the pig body collapsing and coalescing into a human shape. The thick body, dark skin, red hair of Ganondorf emerge. The lust for control and power and the Gerudo shape of Gala and the mad hunger of Ganon mixed together to form the man before them. Zelda and Link are forced to flee.

#theres a lot more to this on the Zelda and Link sides of the story #but id beem trying to piece the Ganon part together for a minute #orignally before this i was thinking of fiery ragey twunkish Ganon and an Old General cold and calculating Ganon #that at first dont seem related to one another and are unique villains for Link and Zelda respectively #but then i was like... what if monster ganon... that takes on aspects of the things it eats and thats why it looks like a pig...#and to become Ganondorf it eats someone...... GERUDO VILLAIN #in the story leading up to the Scene™️ Gala is a bit like a Ghirahim/Zant kinda bitch that shows up to annoy the fuck out of you #but like. in a girlboss way. because this is insanely funny to me.#anyway i also like this because its like Ganon becomes self actualized before Link and Zelda do #i may talk more about that later tho ive been writing this post for an hour now #zelda #loz #legend of zelda #crazee talk

being into a work that is ongoing is a really interesting experience especially when its something like a manga/comic which takes a Long time (what an insane art form im always thinking about this) im waiting for the water to boil for my pasta im so hungry for dinner. in a sense i can tell emet & i have like very similar standards when it comes to quality. by that i mean i am very picky with art styles especially when it comes to how people draw my favourite guys & i KNOW in a fucked up really weird world where hes real & im the character (well ok due to introject stuff its not that far fetched but bear with me) he would hold fanart of me to the same standards i hold his. does that make sense.

#i am very pretentious with art i just never say it. i do apply it to my own art too tho that is why im extremely harsh on my own art #i want a level of skill i simply am not at yet & it ruins my life. but that aside #i am VERY particular about how well people manage to draw emets features. due to him having such a unique face in xiv #characteristic eyebrows. a nose thats actually too big for most face wear that covers the nose. his shallow cheeks. the glare. the lips #miss any of these (if you have a very detailed style) & its not him anymore. dont bishiefy him.#as much i love the evilness of the magic art ('art' looking at mtgs ai practices...) the nose stood out to me as too small.#maybe its the angle but it does not look as big as it should imo.#& i could never ever imagine myself being fully satisfied. with any less than his actual features.#to me it does really speak of a skill issue + less than ideal view of 'unconventionally attractive' or whatever features #when an artist cannot keep to that kind of feature or even attempt to #break out of the 2010s generic anime art style pretty please. im like begging on my knees.#if youre gonna be drawing my guy you cannot just make him random anime boy number fifty four he does not look like that.#but. yeah. see what i mean. im pretentious. honestly probably why i keep to sketches most of the time #i do not have the patience to add as much detail as id like to finished products #& it drives me fucking insaneeee <333 #the diff btwn emet & i is that hed probably have the skill to not hate whatever he creates #emey selchie tag

one thing the musical isotope cevio voicebanks have on like any other vocal synth ive seen is how intensely moody and expressive they can be. i thought it was just kafu who had that gritty breathy seething sound but rime and haru are also both great for angrier or more intense emoting

#i havent heard as much of coko and sekai just because i havent found as many covers with them but they also got some moodiness #i wonder how synthv kafu will fare. she sounds pretty good and versatile in the demos so far so im excited #i hope her moodiness is able to be kept around in it. that is one thing about synthv #i really love it i think its so great and accessible (especially price wise LOL) and versatile BUT #i want 2 things. 1) bring back glottal effects PLEASE im begging #and 2) i would like more options for emotive singing if that makes sense?#i can fudge a lot with the basic parameters and various scripts but i would love more drastically expressive vocal modes in more banks #and honestly more unique voices in general. i reeeeaally have been adoring haruno sora lite recently because she is SO like #unique and filled with character and she has this grinning giggly-ness to her voice. the ahsoftware banks are great for expression #but id love if we can go even further and more versatile. i know voicepeak has like #sad modes and stuff for their voices LOL id love if we could have something like that with singing. even if it sounds unrealistic #i am excited as FUCK for frimomen tho i cant wait to hear more of him i think he'll be really interesting

Would the headlights on Bee's wings count as biolights? And if so, would that make his wings anymore attractive? I'd assume they work like birds, the prettier and brighter they are the more attractive. Considering Bee is bright yellow and has lights on his wings would he be considered attractive to other fliers? Thank you

ooh alright so this ask gives me an opportunity to do another little analysis/hc dump, this time on cybertronian beauty standards! lemme start with the basics first

-personally, i dont think of fliers like birds, though ik bird behaviors is a pretty popular hc for fliers lol. i think a lot of them like wings because that means they can fly (cool flying alt, can fly together) and because theyre nice to touch and be touched!

-i think cybertronians find faces attractive due to the increase in expressiveness, so theres a cultural bias towards finding faces attractive. however, faceplates are still appreciated, and as james roberts has confirmed, those without lip mouths have the most erotic mouth build 😏 so that lends a huge bonus to faceplates, evening them out a bit in terms of beauty standards

-lights and bright plating colors are probably attractive, but id say really anything that isnt grey and lightless is probably handsome (grey looks like dead bodies to them)

-some helm shapes are just not very flattering, at least to cybertronians. pre-ghost, bumblebee's helm was probably considered extremely average looking, but post-ghost whoever built his body decided to upgrade his helm a bit lol

now for starbee specifically...

-starscream and bee are both obviously affected by the beauty standards of their culture, so theres definitely some aspects that carry over. however, theres things that they dont really care about either (for example, bumblebee doesnt really care how shiny starscreams plating is)

-i couldnt for the life of me find the lights on bees wings youre referring to in the ask 😭 i looked at all my refs but i dont see them 😔 he does have lights on his legs, which starscream probably does like, as he likes bright and pretty things in general (both on others and himself)

-starscream has never particularly cared about wheels, hes far more interested in bees doorwings. personally bumblebee would like a little more wheel attention 😂

-bumblebee finds stars wings cute, which is different from most people who like wings, who like them for the power they represent (he also likes the powerful jet alt mode but he likes getting a rise out of starscream even more)

-heel thrusters are a unique thing to cybertronians, and are probably considered a more niche attraction
