isabella and russel - valorpunk

YES. YESSSSSS. SOMEONE I KNOW MUST'VE SENT THIS WITH THE EXPRESS INTENT TO ENABLE ME. THANK YOU.

Isabella and Russel are my Valorpunk BROTP and have been from episode four (and then they proceeded to NEVER INTERACT FOR LIKE THIRTY EPISODES—)

So, a personal thing about me is that I'm a HUGE fan of "romantic tropes but twist them slightly to represent platonic or queerplatonic relationships." For me, the brotp was cinched when Russel had to carry Isabella up the stairs and, when given options how to carry her, went "FIREMAN STYLE" immediately instead of princess style.

(On a similar note, I'm also a fan of when Phobe is like "what were you two doing?" and Isabella replies "I'll tell you when you're older ;)" because like, that's SUCH a PLATONIC thing to do for her. If it were Vika, that might be genuine flirting. But pure, never-kissed-anyone, sweetheart Isabella? She's just playing around. She's being silly. She would NEVER reply that about someone she actually liked— say, if someone asked her what she was doing with Vika, or later in the show, with Gaira.)

Awkward gentleman Russ and socially awkward Isabella. Perfect duo of making the whole room feel awkward. (Isabella gets a lot better later but she started out as such a mess at talking to people!) Also, Isabella's whole early arc was about isolating herself and not really feeling like part of the "group" and Russel's whole personality is "nobody left behind," so they just clicked perfectly for me.

In more recent episodes, I'm staring daggers into Russel's martyr complex. The few times anyone has EVER said anything about it, it's been Isabella. I sure did write a whole fanfic about her throwing him a surprise birthday party because "you deserve to let yourself be happy too you know."

I also think it's a little funny that they were both burned really badly by their crush, the same person, who betrayed them by not telling them their secret identity. Only, Isabella had a crush on Vika (who was VSPR), and Russel had a crush on VSPR (who was Vika). Then she broke both of their hearts brutally. I think they deserved to have a sleepover and talk about their feelings. </3

My final note is that I'm still holding out for my very specific wish for TANC to have to carry Russel away from a fight so that it can be a parallel of Russel carrying Isabella up the stairs at the beginning of the show. C'MON, RUSSEL LITERALLY BROKE HIS ANKLE LIKE 3 EPISODES AGO WHEN HE AND TANC WERE GETTING THEIR SHIT KICKED IN AND THEY HAD TO BOOK IT, THE OPPORTUNITY WAS RIGHT THERE—

finals season is always so busy, we like to stay organized and use lots of color to stay engaged. here are some tips to hep you through finals season:

drink lots of water! it will help keep you relaxed, focused and alive ;)

take short breaks! if you are not familiar with techniques that allow for you to be your most productive self, investigate what works best for you

remember: try your best, but grades are not everything!

be kind to yourself :)
