This was the tenth straight year Little Linksters™, LLC, along with the Little Linksters™ Association for Junior Golf Development (501c3) has hosted this kid-centric contest. Once again, this year, some very heavy hitters from the golf world joined the cause, including World Golf Hall of Fame members, Jack Nicklaus and Annika Sorenstam, and PGA Tour Star, Jordan Spieth. They will join a team of US and International based PGA and LPGA teaching professionals. The judges include, US Kids Golf Top 50 instructors Michelle Holmes, Zoe Allen from Ireland, and Tom Reid from the UK, as well as acclaimed Canadian Instructor, Jason Helman. They all will join the contest’s host, and Little Linksters founder, Brendon Elliott, who was named the PGA’s National Youth Player Development award winner in 2017.
This popular contest allows parents to upload a video to YouTube of their “Little Linksters” swing. Videos this year were submitted from January through the end of July and winners were crowned in four age groups—ranging from ages 3 to 12. Voting was conducted by a panel of industry veterans and experts. This is an inclusive contest, with fun at its center point, so all children, regardless of ability are always encouraged to submit their swings!
“In what has been an incredibly challenging year in many respects, we were determined to once again offer this opportunity to children and showcase to the golf world what the youngest among us can do with a golf club. This contest is primarily about fun and celebrating a game that is blind to age…kids as young as two years of age can love this game and we see that year in and year out.” explained PGA Professional Brendon Elliott, founder of Little Linksters™, LLC and Little Linksters™ Association for Junior Golf Development. “Over the years, we have been very humbled to have had such a recognized and esteemed celebrity panel of judges including Jordan Spieth, Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson, Andrew “Beef” Johnston, Tony Jacklin, Annika Sorenstam, Hank Haney, Kelly Sheehan, Lexi Thompson, Jim McLean, Win McMurry, Paula Creamer, Nicole Weller, Chuck Evans, Brittany Lincicome, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Keegan Bradley, Mark Bradley, Allen Wronowski, Frank Nobilo, David Leadbetter, Michelle Wie and Holly Sonders.” added Elliott.
This year’s contest saw just shy of 200 entries poured in from over 15 countries from around the world. Elliott, is a US Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Teacher (2010, ‘11 and ’12), a 2013 US Kids Golf Top 50 Master Kids Teacher, a four- time NFPGA Junior Golf Leader award winner (2011-14), as well as a five-time Top 50 Growth of the Game Teacher as named by the Golf Range Association, was named the PGA of America’s National Youth Player Development award winner in 2017. More recently, Elliott was named a 2019 GRAA Top 50 Elite Status Growth of the Game Teacher and one of Orlando Family Magazine’s 2019 Men of the Year. Brendon leads the judging of the Best Pee Wee Swing contest each year. He was assisted by this year’s celebrity panel of judges.
Taking part in the 2020 campaign were:
• Jack Nicklaus— World Golf Hall of Fame member and the man that holds the record for the most major championship titles in the men’s game. Known to many as the best male golfer of all time. Mr. Nicklaus is making his fourth appearance as a judge in the Best Pee Wee Swing Contest.
• Annika Sorenstam— Also a World Golf Hall of Fame member. She is regarded as one of the best female golfers in history. She won 90 international tournaments as a professional, making her the female golfer with the most wins to her name. She won 72 official LPGA tournaments including ten majors and she tops the LPGA's career money list with earnings of over $22 million. Annika is also making her fourth appearance as a judge.
• Jordan Spieth— Jordan is a three-time major winner and the 2015 FedEx Cup champion. In April 2016, Time magazine named Spieth to its list of the "100 Most Influential People", noting that he "exemplifies everything that's great about sports." Spieth's first major win came in the 2015 Masters Tournament where he became the second youngest golfer (behind Tiger Woods) to win the Masters. He then won the 2015 U.S. Open with a score of 5-under-par. He was the youngest U.S. Open champion since amateur Bobby Jones in 1923. This will be Jordan’s third time as a judge in our contest.
• Michelle Holmes— One of the very brightest instructors in the junior golf instruction arena. A multiple award- winning teacher, Michelle is the owner of the Michelle Holmes School of Golf at Cahoon Plantation. Michelle serves the greater Williamsburg, Virginia Beach and Outer Banks area but has an ever-increasing influence around the world. This is her third straight year as a judge. Among her numerous awards, Michelle is a US Kids Golf Top 50 Master Kids Instructor.
• Zoe Allen— Another of the very brightest up and comers in the junior golf instruction arena. A multiple award- winning teacher, Zoe is the owner of Zoe Allen Golf at Lurgan Golf Club in Lurgan, Northern Ireland. Zoe won the distinction of being named a US Kids Golf Top 50 Master Kids Instructor this past January at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL. This is her third year as a judge.
• Tom Reid— US Kids Top 50 Instructor, Tom Reid hails from the U.K. Tom is a former Touring Professional that has made a significant impact in the junior golf arena in Europe over the past few years. Formerly an instructor at the highly acclaimed Wentworth Club, Tom is now the senior teaching professional at Stoke Park Golf and Country Club. Tom is a lead in the Leadbetter Kids program, which is a youth program from the David Leadbetter Academy. • Jason Helman— Over the past 25+ years as a Golf Professional, Jason has made his mark in Canada as a top instructor and golf coach. His passion for the game, pride in his students, and their willingness to learn and develop as golfers or athletes so they can reach their highest pinnacle in the game are what drives him. He said, “All I want is for my students to succeed, whether they’re 5 years old or a tour professional.” Jason is the 2010 PGA of Canada National Teacher of the Year as well as the 2016 PGA of Canada Professional National Development Award Recipient.
The Little Linksters™ golf program in Central Florida was originally designed specifically for children ages 3 to 8 years old but has expanded in recent years to include ages up to 18 and children of all abilities. The introductory program is taught in a fun and interactive way, using both traditional and non-traditional instructional methods to ensure children’s first introduction to golf is FUN! The Little Linksters™ Association for Junior Golf Development, a 501c3 nonprofit in conjunction with AAU, is continuing to develop a national program that will enable teaching professionals from across the country to grow their business and the game of golf with a proven program that combines a child-friendly approach, a complete program curriculum, and uses items from some of the industry’s best training aid and junior golf equipment companies. One of the Association’s most prized projects, called G.O.A.L.S. (Golf Outreach Advances Life Skills) is specifically aimed at introducing children ages 3-12+ with special needs to the game of golf. In doing so, children will learn valuable life skills that will help them throughout their life. The Special Olympics of Central Florida is a proud partner of Little Linksters™ efforts with this program. Support of the G.O.A.L.S. program has also come from the Alliance for Accessible Golf as well as Jordan Spieth and the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation.
Little Linksters has added additional programming in 2020 that touches children ages 3-10 as well as 11-16 that are in economically challenged situations and that may have never had an opportunity such as those that Little Linksters™ offers, to play golf. “Golf is more than a game; it is a tool to teach young children so much more and we hope to use this tool to enhance the lives of as many children as possible explains Elliott, Little Linksters™ founder and Executive Director.

Podcast #446: How Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Will Make You a Better Man
In the 1980s, when people signed up for a martial art, they probably joined a karate or taekwondo school. Today? They’re probably signing up for a roll on the mat in a Brazilian jiu-jitsu class. And the Gracie family has played a central role in this martial art’s precipitous rise. My guest today is a member of the Gracie family, the head instructor of the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy, and the co-creator of Gracie University, an online jiu-jitsu program. His name is Rener Gracie, and you may have seen the videos we made with him on our YouTube Channel a few years ago. Today, Rener walks us through the origins of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, beginning with his grandfather Helio, and how a martial art born in Japan ended up being reshaped in Brazil. He then shares how his father helped develop the UFC as a way to promote the efficacy of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but why there’s a big difference between sport BJJ and self-defense BJJ, and why BJJ is such an effective real world martial art. We end by talking about the mindset shift that occurs when you learn how to defend yourself, and how the confidence you gain from learning jiu-jitsu carries over into other aspects of life. Show Highlights * The Gracie family and the origins of jiu-jitsu and UFC  * What separates Brazilian jiu-jitsu from other martial arts * Is BJJ more for sport or self-defense? * How learning violence can actually make you kinder * Why you should do all you can to avoid real-world fights  * The dangers of overreacting (and those people prone to do so)  * How the benefits of BJJ carry over into other areas of your life  * How BJJ has changed Vince Vaughn’s life  * What a typical BJJ class looks like  * Why BJJ is perfect for men who are smaller and perhaps weaker to begin with Resources/People/Articles Mentioned in Podcast * Our jiu-jitsu videos with Rener * Helio Gracie * My interview with Matthew Polly about the life of Bruce Lee * Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) * UFC 1 * You Have to Be a Man, Before You Can Be a Gentleman * When Violence Is the Answer * Developing Real-World Situational Awareness * Where to Hit Someone to Inflict the Most Damage * The Legal Consequences of Self-Defense * Gracie BullyProof * Why Every Man Should Be Strong * Quickflip Apparel Connect With Rener and the Gracie Academy  Rener on Instagram Rener on Twitter Gracie Academy  Listen to the Podcast! Tom Hopper Talks 'Umbrella Academy,' Hardcore Workouts, and Diet Discipline
Tumblr media
Edgar Artiga / M+F Magazine
On the new Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, Tom Hopper plays a character who possesses superstrength. And right now, it looks like the actor shares the same superpower.
We’re at the ultra-exclusive Performix House gym near Manhattan’s Union Square, and Hopper is putting on something of a clinic. As a photographer snaps picture after picture, Hopper holds himself in midair on the gymnastics rings for what feels like ages, keeping his hands close to his sides, his body arrow-straight, and his face totally relaxed, as if the feat were effortless. It’s a bit like Vince Vaughn’s “still holding” gymnastics scene from Old School, only without the assistance of CGI (and definitely without the cigarette).
After this, the 6'5", 210-pound Hopper will knock out a few dozen ring dips, slam a pair of battle ropes against the ground until it feels like the floor is going to crumble, and shove a sled loaded with hundreds of pounds of iron down a strip of artificial turf. All with the politeness of a debonair English prince.
The kicker? This isn’t even Hopper’s first workout of the morning. The actor trained at a different gym before the shoot just to get his blood pumping.
Such is life for Hopper, who seems determined to be as healthy and fit as humanly possible. Which is how you end up with a physique like Hopper’s: tiny waist, big shoulders, substantial pecs and biceps, and a V-taper in full effect. He looks like a cross between an Olympic swimmer and a professional rugby player. With, to top it off, the handsome face of a model.
“The thing with Tom is he takes such good care of his body,” says Sam Rosati, a friend who worked with Hopper in Toronto on the production of The Umbrella Academy. “Whenever Tom is in Toronto, the city experiences a shortage of chicken breasts.”
For those of you reading this and thinking, “OK, but who the hell is Tom Hopper?” here’s a primer. Born in the middle of England, Hopper played sports as a youngster but also took an early interest in acting, often dressing up and doing impressions for family and friends. As a teenager, he performed in school plays and studied drama in college. That’s when his passions for fitness and entertainment intertwined.
“As I went into the acting world, I wanted to stand out as an actor because it was so competitive,” Hopper says over a post-workout bottled water. “I realized there weren’t that many young dudes from Britain who were bigger and muscular. So the first thing I thought was to try to get big.”
Long story short: It worked. After bulking up, Hopper began landing roles in low-budget movies and on British TV shows, usually portraying menacing types—soldiers, swashbucklers, that kind of thing. He played the burly knight Sir Percival in for 26 episodes, then starred as the pirate William “Billy Bones” Manderly in the Starz series Black Sails. The show became a cult favorite, and its costuming allowed Hopper to regularly show off his arms, to the point where they now boast their own Instagram fan account.
After the success of Black Sails, Hopper snagged a memorable role in the HBO megahit Game of Thrones, in which (spoiler alert) Hopper’s character ends up getting burned alive by a dragon. (It’s the thing Hopper gets asked about the most—along with his arms.) Next, he had a supporting role in the 2018 Amy Schumer movie that you might’ve caught on a plane.
[RELATED2]
All the while, though, Hopper was busy with a couple of other pursuits. First, he got married and had a couple of kids with his wife, Laura. Second (and more relevant to this magazine), he began to fine-tune his training philosophy.
Rather than achieving a certain look for a particular role and then bingeing on burgers and fries after the production wrapped, Hopper started maintaining a lean, ripped body year-round. He did so with a two-pronged attack: training nearly every day in a huge converted garage at his home in England and sticking to an incredibly clean diet, eschewing all refined sugars and processed foods in favor of natural sweeteners and lots of organic meats and vegetables.
“The nutrition came into it, and it became a fully rounded thing,” Hopper says. “Ultimately it became about health—about how I can be the healthiest and fittest version of myself.”
Hopper’s imposing physique proves useful in his latest project, The Umbrella Academy. Based on a bunch of graphic novels from musician Gerard Way of the band My Chemical Romance, the show tells the story of a dysfunctional superhero family who reunite after their adoptive father dies and soon realize they’ll have to try to save the world.
The show, which premieres Feb. 15, has a lot of potential. Its showrunner comes from the TV series Fargo, and it co-stars Ellen Page of Juno fame. Hopper plays the leader of the family, Luther, a gruff, muscle-bound enforcer who, under the surface, is actually quite sensitive. Hopper says the originality of the series is what excites him the most.
“There is no other superhero show like it,” he says. “It’s a far more grounded world than we’ve seen before. This is more about the humanistic side. The superhero stuff is the added seasoning.”
If the show catches on, it could be a life-changer for Hopper in terms of fame and money. (And his arms’ Instagram account will no doubt blow up!) But whether it becomes the next Stranger Things or just sort of fades away after a season, it’s a safe bet it won’t have much effect on that other huge aspect of his life: his commitment to optimal health.
Hopper says his daily training sessions and ultradisciplined diet have come to define him. It’s even a running joke among family and friends when choosing restaurants: Everyone else is concerned there won’t be suitable food for Hopper at whatever eatery they select.
“That’s the problem with trying to live this lifestyle,” Hopper says. “You have to kind of get over the fact that it can come across as high-maintenance. You’re just trying to do the best thing for your body—if that’s what you want. For some people, it’s too much. It’s too extreme. But I enjoy it. I get a lot out of feeling great.”
Hopper’s Full-body Workout
Hopper loves training with gymnastics rings and battle ropes to test his body in different ways while keeping the movements fluid and functional. Try this routine, which Hopper regularly performs at his home gym. Rest 30 to 60 seconds between sets.

Why Amazon HQ2 should come to St Louis aka Why I love the Lou and you should too.
Hey Jeff Bezos! I know you are being inundated by every city and state that wants the new Amazon HQ2. They are going to tell you about the great tax deal they can offer and the business climate. About how many employees you can find in their area. The housing costs, the schools, the land they will give you.
All good and I am sure super important to you. But that shouldn’t be the only consideration. And given who you are and your Seattle campus I am sure it is not.  (I know someone who works there, and may I say I am jealous! Puppies in the office!).
I want to tell you about the other side. The personal side. The fun side. After all, no one, even you works all the time. All work and no play makes even Jeff a grumpy boy I am sure. Welcome to what I call "the Lou and you". Not the official city slogan, but one I think is more fitting.
So let me tell you about the other St. Louis. Not the business side, though it will have businesses in it. But the fun side, all within easy driving distance. About the places and things St Louis offers. We are more than fly over country. We are fun, vital and exciting. Let me show  you my favorite spots. I have been to them, or they are on my bucket list which is rapidly dwindling.
Standard disclaimer: I have nothing to do with the cities bid. I am sure they are properly horrified and sure I am totally ruining the chance by addressing you directly. But what the heck, I don't know what they told you and I thought you should see it from the other side. Who knows it better than its own folks.
Once you are done I hope you can see what a great city we really are. We are nothing like we are sometimes portrayed on the news, or by other cities. After all this is a competition, and may the best man, or rather city win. And if you ever come to St Louis,we would love to show them to you in person. At least let us treat you to City Museum and a nice drink, on my dime.Even if we don’t win.  Ever slide down a whale? Hang over the side of a building in a school bus? Ride a Ferris Wheel above the city? Wanna?
So here is some of the things I love! I hope you will too.

off the rack #1150
Monday, February 6, 2017
What a great Super Bowl 51 last night. The New England Patriots deserved to win that one. I was cheering for the Atlanta Falcons but they just couldn't sustain their amazing first half efforts and lost. Such is sports.
Bullseye #1 - Ed Brisson (writer) Guillermo Sanna (art) Miroslav Mrva (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). He's back from the dead and back on the racks in his very own book that's heavy on the bloodshed. What else would you expect for a comic book about a psychopathic killer for hire? Bullseye kills for fun, unlike the Punisher, so that's a bit of a turn off. In part 1 of "The Columbian Connection" Bullseye is hired to retrieve a mob boss's son from a sadistic Columbian drug lord. He is also being chased by an F.B.I. agent seeking revenge for Bullseye killing her husband. These characters may not have any redeeming qualities but Ed's writing is solid and Guillermo's art is nice so I'll keep reading until the mindless mayhem and blood flow gets to be too much. There's a back up story in this giant sized issue by Marv Wolfman (writer) Alec Morgan (art) Frank Martin (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters) that shows just how tough Bullseye is. This book is targeted (har) for fans of the Punisher.
Batman #16 - Tom King (writer) David Finch (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) John Workman (letters). "I Am Bane" starts here. This new story is a direct consequence of the mission to bring back the Psycho Pirate to cure Gotham Girl. Bane wants the Pirate back and he's going to Gotham City to get him. The first few pages where Bronze Tiger ambushes Batman were a little confusing but it goes to explain why the Psycho Pirate is so important to the story. Bruce tries to keep his loved ones safe from Bane but Damian, Dick and Jason are too stubborn to listen. This sequel to "I Am Suicide" had me hooked with the last page.
Paper Girls #11 - Brian K. Vaughn (writer) Cliff Chiang (art) Matthew Wilson (colours) Jared K. Fletcher (letters). I am so happy that this book is back from its four month break. We catch up with the girls somewhere lost in time but we can't tell if it's the distant past or the future. I've said time and again that I'm not a fan of time travel stories but I have grown to care about these girls and want to see what happens to them.
Star Wars: Darth Maul #1 - Cullen Bunn (writer) Luke Ross (art) Nolan Woodward (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). Whoever created the look for this villain deserved an Academy Award for make-up. Most fans would say that Darth Vader is the best Star Wars villain but Maul makes Vader look like a weenie in my opinion. Maul has a hate on for Jedis that Cullen exposes to great effect. Looks like I'm going to hang out at the Maul for a while.
Vampirella #0 - Paul Cornell (writer) Jimmy Broxton (art & colours) Travis Lanham (letters). Vampi's back on the racks but this new effort was lacking in anything interesting to make me want to keep reading. First off; Vampirella is barely in it. Then there's her waking up with amnesia to provide a clean slate for new adventures but you don't know enough about her to care what happens next. I've been a fan since the Warren Magazine days and I have been disappointed with the latest attempts at bringing her back. It's a good thing this issue only cost two bits US.
Karnak #6 - Warren Ellis (writer) Rolland Boschi (art) Dan Brown (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). This finale sees Karnak complete his mission for S.H.I.E.L.D. leaving the bad guy in a sorry state. I didn't get the part about what Karnak wanted for payment so maybe I missed something over the course of this 6-issue mini that took 16 months to complete. What kept me hanging on was that I really liked how Warren portrayed this Inhuman. I hope his new Wildstorm book doesn't drag on like this.
Superman #16 - Peter J. Tomasi & Patrick Gleason (writer) Tony S. Daniel & Clay Mann (pencils) Sandu Florea & Seth Mann (inks) Dinei Ribeiro (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). We find out why the bad guy Prophesy is draining powers from all the Supermen and women in the conclusion of "Multiplicity". He needs all that power to save his universe from doom. I really hope they don't bring Doomsday back. So now that the Multiverse has been saved again let's see what the next threat is.
Hawkeye #3 - Kelly Thompson (writer) Leonardo Romero (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). I loved the TV show Veronica Mars and this comic book reminds me of that show. I think it's how Kelly uses Kate to narrate what's going on. This is fun light reading with just a hint of menace.
Moon Knight #11 - Jeff Lemire (writer) Greg Smallwood (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). Okay, part 2 of "Death and Birth" has a lot of jumping around that seems confusing at first but I'm sure it'll all make sense eventually. We are getting a lot of insights into Marc's alternate identities so I am going to trust in Jeff and keep reading.
Champions #5 - Mark Waid (writer) Humberto Ramos (pencils) Victor Olazaba (inks) Edgar Delgado (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). The teen team tackles racism. I'm glad this didn't just deteriorate into the kids beating up skinheads and white supremacists. They tried hard to do the right thing. Does Mark write Gwenpool too? I would read that book if he did based on her appearance in this issue. I just might check out her own book now.
Monsters Unleashed #2 - Cullen Bunn (writer) Greg Land (pencils) Jay Leisten (inks) David Curiel (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). It's wall to wall super heroes fighting giant monsters from  space. Meanwhile, Elsa Bloodstone thinks she has found who is causing all this destruction and Moon Girl thinks she knows why. I think Marvel is using this stunt as a way to undo all the animosity created by Civil War II and Inhumans vs. X-Men.
Nova #3 - Jeff Loveness & Ramon Perez (writers) Ramon Perez (art) Ian Herring (colours) Comicraft's Albert Deschesne (letters). Hold onto your helmets folks this one's pretty intense.
Unstoppable Wasp #2 - Jeremy Whitley (writer) Elsa Charretier (art) Megan Wilson (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). I like Nadia and this is a good way to find out more about the other female heroes in the Marvel U that I don't follow. Taina Miranda is totally new to me and I don't read Devil Dinosaur and Moon Girl's comic book. Plus, I think the art is really good.

Why Young Baseball Players Should Strive to Become Consistent Hitters
Developing consistent hitting skills is paramount for young baseball players, especially if they aspire to play at the highest levels. It's not just about hitting home runs; it's about making reliable, solid contact every time you step up to the plate. This post explores the importance of consistent hitting and how you can achieve it with the help of the best baseball hitting coaches and baseball training facilities like Vaughn Sports Academy (VSA) in Boca Raton, Florida.
Tumblr media
The importance of consistent hitting
Consistency in hitting is vital for several reasons. First, it builds credibility. Baseball coaches and scouts are always looking for players who can perform well game after game. A baseball player who consistently makes good contact with the ball is often more valuable to the team than one who occasionally hits spectacularly but frequently misses.
Second, being a consistent hitter can boost your confidence. When you can perform under pressure, you play with greater poise and assurance. Such mental edge is essential in baseball, where the psychological game is just as critical as the physical one.
Finally, consistent hitting opens up plenty of opportunities. Baseball players who can hit consistently are more likely to catch the eye of scouts and get recruited for higher-level teams, college scholarships, or even professional leagues. Joining youth baseball camps and regularly practicing in hitting cages in Florida can significantly enhance your consistency at the plate.
The role of high-quality coaching
Having access to the best baseball hitting coaches is invaluable to becoming a consistent hitter. These baseball coaches have the experience and knowledge to help you refine your techniques and develop a strong, repeatable swing. They can also provide personalized feedback and adjust their training programs to address specific weaknesses, ensuring your steady improvement.
Finding a baseball academy in Boca Raton or other areas with a reputation for excellence is a great first step. VSA, or one, employs coaches who have played and coached at the highest levels, bringing their wealth of experience directly to you. By working with such coaches, young baseball players learn the fundamentals of a good swing, understand the mechanics involved, and develop the muscle memory needed for consistent performance.
Tumblr media
Benefits of training with hitting cages
Practicing in hitting cages in Florida offers numerous benefits for young baseball players looking to improve their hitting consistency. Hitting cages offer a controlled environment where you can focus on your technique without the distractions and pressure of a live baseball game. They allow for repetitive practice, which is key to building muscle memory.
In hitting cages, you can work on various aspects of your swing, from stance to grip to follow-through and timing. Your baseball coach can use these sessions to provide immediate feedback, helping you make adjustments on the spot. Regular practice in hitting cages ensures that you get ample opportunities to perfect your swing and become a more consistent hitter.
The importance of youth baseball camps
Youth baseball camps play a crucial role in developing consistent hitters. These camps provide intensive, focused training over a short period. What's more, they are often led by some of the best baseball hitting coaches. Participants receive personalized attention and are immersed in an environment emphasizing skill development and teamwork.
At Vaughn Sports Academy’s baseball camps, young players can engage in drills that target different aspects of hitting, including hand-eye coordination, bat speed, and power. They also benefit from the camaraderie and healthy competition with their peers, which can be both motivating and educational. The immersive nature of VSA’s youth baseball camps allows players to make significant progress relatively quickly and reinforces the techniques needed for consistent hitting.
Striving to become a consistent hitter is one of the most important goals for young baseball players. It enhances reliability, builds confidence, and opens up opportunities for higher-level play. By working with the best baseball hitting coaches, regularly practicing in hitting cages in Florida, and participating in youth baseball camps, players can develop the skills and mental toughness needed to hit consistently. Get everything young athletes need to become consistent hitters by signing up for Vaughn Sports Academy today.

Lessons Young Players Can Learn Only From a Baseball Coach
Baseball coaches are more than just instructors; they are also mentors, role models, and providers of invaluable life lessons. The best baseball coaches use their expertise to teach game-related skills and develop well-rounded individuals primed for success on and off the field.
Young baseball players now have access to various training resources, but the value of having a dedicated and knowledgeable mentor cannot be overstated. Here are some of the insights they can gain only from a professional baseball coach:
Tumblr media
Discipline and work ethic
Among the fundamental lessons a great baseball coach imparts is the importance of discipline and a strong work ethic. Even in youth baseball camps, players are taught the necessity of consistent practice and dedication. Young athletes learn that success doesn't come overnight but through relentless effort and perseverance. This lesson translates beyond baseball, instilling a sense of responsibility and dedication in all aspects of life, including players' studies and eventual careers.
Mental toughness and resilience
Baseball mirrors life in that it is filled with ups and downs. Coaches teach young players how to handle failure and setbacks effectively. They can also help players develop strategies to maintain focus and composure under pressure. This mental toughness is crucial not only during intense and high-stress games but also in academic and personal challenges, preparing young athletes to face any challenge with confidence.
Teamwork and collaboration
As with any team sport, teamwork is vital in baseball. Coaches emphasize how each player contributes to the team's success. They foster an environment where collaboration is critical, helping young players understand and appreciate the value of collective effort over individual glory. This sense of teamwork will serve them well in any group setting, whether during games or situations beyond the baseball diamond.
Technical skills and mechanics
Predictably, the best baseball academies in Florida employ experts in technical skills and mechanics. Baseball coaches in such baseball training academies focus on perfecting players' technical skills. They often use a meticulous approach that ensures players build a strong foundation based on correct mechanics. This attention to detail is critical to ensuring consistent performance and helping players develop a disciplined attitude when mastering any skill or task.
Leadership and sportsmanship
Sports can foster essential qualities like leadership and sportsmanship. Baseball coaches teach players how to motivate their teammates and handle both victories and losses with grace. These help shape young players' characters, preparing them to excel in any field or endeavor they pursue later.
The importance of a positive attitude
A positive attitude can significantly impact the performance and morale of individual players and, by extension, the entire team. Coaches can impart the value of such a mindset and how to maintain it, especially when situations seem dire. With their baseball coach's guidance, players learn to inspire others, helping create a supportive and uplifting environment during and beyond the game.
Life skills beyond baseball
Perhaps the most significant insight young players gain from their coaches is how to apply these lessons beyond the baseball field. Coaches like baseball legend Mo Vaughn demonstrate how building character and working on personal growth help players develop qualities that benefit them throughout their lives. They teach by example, showing athletes that they can leverage these skills to excel in sports and other aspects of their lives.
Baseball coaches are a valuable resource for players looking to succeed in baseball, but their impact goes far beyond the game. They shape young athletes into well-rounded individuals, teaching them essential skills and lessons that will serve them for a lifetime. Therefore, baseball coaches do not just create great players but also mold future leaders with strong character and an unrelenting drive for success.

Mo Vaughn's VSA Focuses on Developing Well-Rounded Athletes
Vaughn Sports Academy (VSA), widely regarded as one of Florida's best baseball academies, was founded by former Major League slugger and MVP Mo Vaughn. Because of the school's origins, some assume it specializes in teaching young baseball players how to hit properly. Although the school does provide excellent hitting training, its comprehensive curriculum also covers other key baseball skills and is designed to develop well-rounded athletes.
Tumblr media
The members of VSA's coaching staff serve as a testament to the school's commitment to providing comprehensive baseball education. Unsurprisingly, the team includes renowned hitting coaches like Mike Easler, one of Mo Vaughn's hitting coaches during the latter's professional playing days.
However, the school also has the best pitching coaches on its roster, as well as mentors known for their expertise in other baseball positions. All VSA coaches are seasoned players and mentors and have experience coaching athletes of different player levels.
"Baseball is a complex sport that demands more than just the ability to hit the ball," said a VSA representative. "Our mission at VSA is to instill in our athletes the skills, discipline, and knowledge they need to excel in all areas of the sport. We're building versatile, strategic players who can help their team in every game."
In addition to teaching on-field skills, VSA's coaches guide young athletes in developing the right mentality for the game. Their approach emphasizes the importance of mental toughness, resilience, and teamwork. Having played competitively before, VSA coaches understand how essential these traits are.
"The sport involves a lot of pressure, especially if you add baseball recruitment into the mix," VSA's representative said. "There's this pressure on young athletes to be the best, or they won't get a recruitment letter. At VSA, we want to help young players develop the mental strength to face any pressure or challenge and overcome it with grace."
VSA's holistic approach has not escaped the attention of many parents and athletes. Even for the baseball camps that it organizes several times a year, the school receives a lot of inquiries from guardians seeking a reliable baseball coach in Florida for their athlete.
"I've enrolled my son in a couple of baseball camps before I tried VSA," said a parent of a VSA athlete. "But the level of dedication to player development here has been incredible, and we haven't looked back. The VSA coaches are not just focused on winning games; they genuinely care about the players' growth."
Parents and athletes interested in joining VSA will find a robust curriculum focused not just on perfecting one's swing but also on developing skills that will be helpful in all aspects of the game and life.
About VSA
Vaughn Sports Academy is a premier baseball training facility in Boca Raton, Florida. The academy is dedicated to providing young athletes with the highest level of coaching and training, as well as access to first-rate resources that will help them achieve optimal performance. With a focus on developing all-around players, VSA prepares athletes for success on and off the field.
