oh boy oh boy!!!!!!!! i am absolutely going through it anon. so basically there is this book series called all for the game by nora sakavic that you should totally read (the first book is called the foxhole court -- but please check out a list of trigger warnings for it because it is very heavy and deals with a lot of serious and painful topics. i myself have had to disconnect for some of the scenes and come back when i was ready; its completely okay to do so, or to not read the books at all if its uncomfortable). its about gay athletes, guys just going through the absolute worst, the yakuza, fucked up families, a running game of how pathetic can you get answered in 15 different ways by each person, fucked up relationships, all not-so-neatly packaged into a completely made up fictional sport. (its funny because i am NOT a sports person and barely even understand cricket even though i watch it all the time, but i know the rules of exy forwards, backwards, and inside out. its that serious.)

i also need to warn you that the first book is slow. the second book is also kind of slow. i personally didnt have any trouble with it because im more of a character reader and aftg had PLENTYYY to keep me busy, but i think its a fair warning if youre sensitive to pace. however. the payoff is so incredibly worth it. its an amazing read with obsession-worthy characters, detailed and balanced plot beats, flowing and natural dialogue, very creative sports , and the relationships will make you want to reread it twenty thousand times. the romance is also the slowest burn to ever burn. if youre going in for romance at the start, you Will Not Get what you want -- but you will get it. i think we as a fandom focus on the romances a lot (im new so dont take my word for it) but its 1) because we're tumblr dont come and 2) because the romances and relationships are incredibly interesting to see through the lens of the books and vice versa. what i really love most (and youll see this in the ec doc) is that it feels like each and every choice was deliberately made by the author to make the book. like. down to the ice cream flavor they get at one point. especially with the sunshine court, i feel like i can see exactly where she made a choice and what mightve happened if that choice wasnt made. its intoxicated to read. it feels like breathing and it feels like drowning.

i just read the sunshine court (where jean and jeremy are more from) so thats what all the recent stuff has been, but you should read the foxhole court series first for it to make sense. i think tsc is 100000x times better and better written than tfc but you have to work for it lol. and!!!!! the author is on tumblr (@/korakos)! also if you do read it, please tell me!!!!!! you can keep sending anons or you can dm me or you can come to my house and live in my room but tell me!!!!! theres also an extra content doc (thanks @jeansyvesmoreau for sending this to me) between the series' (so after the kings men, before the sunshine court) that you should definitely definitely read. but im getting ahead of myself.

tsc thoughts under the cut cause i finished

i literally cannot wrap my thoughts around my overall opinion of it i feel like i absolutely need to reread it first

but also i need to reread tfc because I MISS TFC SO BAD ➡️ girl who reread it last may. i do think i spoke tsc into existence by doing this because i hadn’t looked at the trilogy since 2019 and then all of a sudden i decided to reread and found that unfortunately they still make me batshit crazy. what is in those books.

however i do like tfc better 🤷🏽‍♀️ so if i did reread tfc after this and read tsc again i would just want to read tfc again

this is not fair to say at all because tfc is a whole trilogy and this was only book 1. and i rlly need to start saying aftg instead of tfc cause it’s getting confusing because like i do think tsc is better than tfc (the first book). however i just…like aftg better? i feel like it’s more fun which is probably a weird thing to say considering it’s a lot More than tsc is. and obviously this book was more about jean’s recovery. but more happens in aftg. idk we’ll see tho

i do love jean and the trojans but i miss neil and the foxes every page. i feel like it’s harder to connect to the trojans because there r so many of them. and idk sports so the three coaches is probably normal for a team of this size i really wouldn’t know lol but i couldn’t keep the coaches straight in my head either

see my problem is i wish the foxes showed up more even though it makes no sense for them to. i want kevin jeremy and jean in a room together. i will kill for jean and allison interaction especially if they talk about renee (yes i am holding onto renison still). i want jeremy and cat and matt and dan to hang out. i need laila to meet andrew. i need more renee I LOVE RENEE we did get a good amount of her though i think. she was everything.

genuinely think the way jean and renee was handled here was so perfect. i totally see the merit of it if they end the series together. i also see why jean might end the series without being with anyone romantically. but narratively i cant help but feel jerejean is what makes the most sense. the reason i liked them in the first place is their narrative appeal. and they were genuinely so good in this. so. idk. can’t think about that too much.

i have some problems with the writing like i did with the og series but um the thing is i cannot view these books objectively because they impacted me so much at a young age. i will say i wish tsc could have had a professional editor lol.

i also have some issues with the pacing tho because i did not expect it to end there at all? im so glad she started it where she did but when it ended i was like WAIT WHAT

i have a feeling the reason riko did what he did with the backliners is because he saw jean looking at kevin. could be wrong here but judging from how often jean talks about learning his lesson about looking at guys too long. well.

the main thing for me is that i don’t see how we’re going to get to championships in 2 books if this book only covered till the summer. you could argue exy games arent that important for jean’s story but i do think they are insanely important for jeremy’s story. and if he’s a pov character i want more about him!! that man is keeping his issues locked up (I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THEY R) but we can tell he loves exy and he needs to win his last year

my memory of the extra content is so dim and some of it i have voluntarily chosen to forget or just not consider plus i think some of it will/has changed. but i think i remember reading that trojans win for their last year and i Need that to happen. cause in my head it went: foxes win neil’s first year and trojans win neil’s second year and jeremy’s last year. idc for the rest i want neil to have won championships twice or at least once as captain so that’s what happens in my head.

I think i have some pretty simples ones all things considered? And they’re all pretty fluid/all exist at the same time but for these

Chosen: made with they/them in mind -> experiemented with she/they/he -> had a crisis abt it -> she/her at the end

Dark: started we they/he -> she/they at the end

This isn’t really a queer headcanon (maybe?) but i do think theyre soulmates in a “whatever souls are made of, yours and mine are the same (insult)”, which is probably the closest thing i have to a queer headcanon LDNWOODOW.

-i know the popular theory is that its bcs chosen’s a virus (considering she was beaten by an antivirus in ava 2 + in a way so is tdl and tsc) but idk, they were made by alan (maybe tsc is a virus but thats a theory for another time), but i also like to think its more that chosen knew about victim in some like, unfathomable way?

-like the avatar in ATLA hahaha. Is this angst? I’m not sure. But this is why i think she immediately started going sicko mode

Headcanon 2: Chosen is the tragedy of a stick born without love

-Chosen’s creation was definitely intentional, while Second’s wasn’t. Why are they so different? Its not like second got that much love either initially, but they did manage to get some free time.

So Cassandra Clare posted that Fairstairs art yesterday or sth where Cordelia was obviously whitewashed. We all know what art was that🤷🏼‍♀️

So people started being mad about which is obviously fair cause it was our first official chot art and that's what we got. What happened next:

People posted these CJ's arts talking about whitewashing. ⚠️As a person who spent LOTS of years being a part of tsc fandom, I remember that these ones were created around 6 years ago, before the first book came out, cause Cordelia was supposed to be a white girl⚠️And that's what i said. Did i support new fairstairs art? No, but if you don't believe me, you can always read what i said.

⚠️Next thing: i defended CJ saying that it's CC who controls how these characters should be depicted.⚠️Why i did it: cause that person spent years and years creating beautiful arts for this fandom, adding those works to whitewashing post seemed weird.

My fault: i focused my words more on protecting CJ. That's absolutely true, i said that new Fairstairs art is a fckn joke, but for some people who also have emotions, my answer looked like I don't care about the whole point of the post. That's not true at all and for that I really wanna apologize.

⚠️Next thing: people who really know me and cared about me showed me some of CJs arts where Cordelia has a really really dark skin and some of her weird answers about "why cordelia always has different skin colour on different arts" (she didn't take it seriously). so like--you would be suprised how complicated this is like--

Lets take the canon that we know about stickfigures exist naturally on the internet but there is one thing about them: all of their heads are filled in(?)/(whole???) and only the stickmen that are hollowheads (like my boy Cyan) are made by someone (Alan) cuz im pretty sure everyone has noticed that the only hollowheads are the one made by Alan (TDL TCO TSC Victim) and i think its interasting since according to a fan analysis their power is decided by their name for example: first ever stickfigure, victim they didn't have powers they were normal sticks, TCO: their name is literally the Chosen One soo i dont think i have to explain the power that comes with it. TDL: same thing TSC: also the same the stickfigure just decided to be alive,, it wasnt the same way the others were made (ill look for the amazing analysis and put it here for you to read)

Now what about Cyan/Carlos weell i have made things so much more complicated than it needs to be like-- the whole thing started out as a joke and now i have to think of lore and maybe ideas about how would they interact with the other sticks. Anyways back to our topic--- Cyan is a hollowhead who is created by someone. There are three pahts we can take with this one (i already know which one will i chose but ill break it down for yall) so---

1. Alan made them: now this one would be logical and it explains itself since Alan is the one who made all the hollowhead sticks so it would be an easy answer. But like --- why would they make one?? Why would they create a new stick, if i were to chose this one this would be a very complicated thing to think about and i dont think i would be happy with the stuff i would come up with, sooo not this one--, also Alans sticks all have very simular powers Cyan wouldnt fit in with the rest

2. I made them: this is a boring option in my opinion also i dont really like to include myself in stuff like this so noo

3. Nameless creator we dont know about made them: i was thinking this could be the best one i got. Someone saw Alans videos and was like-- "wait i wanna do that" and they create the child Cyan. I was thinking maybe they lived happily together, the stick and the creator, but something happened to the computer, so now cyan is stuck on the internet looking for their lost friend the creator, who probably taught them how to do origamis.

Now about powers- which i messed up as well--- cyan is a name like victim they shouldnt have powers but after i made the art and answered the question have i realized how badly have i once again messed up but whatever let me try and make it make sense: so ngl victim sounds kinda miserable soo we are just going to act like cyan/Carlos holds more power to the name- not as powerful as TDL or TCO but they still have funky little powers. i imagine how both the creator and the stick freaked out when "oh wow you are so talented you made your first origa-- OMG IT FUCKIN MOVES?!!"

I've never feel the need to use this emoji until now, cuz... yeah i do like talk about my interest. And like. Kit and Ty have a really special place in my heart, mind and soul.

I'll tell you all about them, but first things first: HIIII im juliet (or jules what ever you prefer) nice to meet you and thank you for asking me about the one thing i consider MY thing.

So... Kit and Ty. They're characters from my favorite book series, the shadowhunter chronicles. To be clear, Kit Herondale is my favorite character of all times. And Ty Blackthorn is just amazing in every single way.

I dont know if you've heared about TSC, but are tons of books. Like, its a saga of sagas. We have the original series (TMI), two precuels (TID and TLH), a sequel (TDA) and one more to go (TWP). In TDA, Kit and Ty are introduced. And at first they are present as a cute, wholesome, friends to lovers with potencial slow burn (a perfect combo for a lovequeer aroace romo abvivalent like me, tbh).

But. The worst thing that could've happen, happens. And then more shit keeps happening. I dont want to go to deep into the plot (this would last forever otherwise) but Ty lost someone, and is willing to do everything to bring them back. In TSC, necromancy is forbbiden magic. Playing with it means play with the natural order of things, and when Ty perform the resurection ritual bad. things. happen.

In TDA, we only have Kit's POV, so we dont actually know what was going thru Ty's mind. But they both say really hurtfull things to each other and TDA ends with Kit accepting be adopted by a new family just to get away from Ty and running the hell out of the country.

They're suppost to meet again at the beginning of TWP (the next and last series), that happens three years after TDA. Cassandra Clare (the autor) have said that they barrely interact in those three years, so it'll have to get to know each other all over again.

So... currently, Cassie is posting installments weekly as part as a proyect called Secrets of Blackthorn Hall. It's telled with postcards, letters and diary entries. And today's sobh was a single picture of Ty and Kit standing uncomforable in the same room. So the whole fandom is losing it and its been the only thing i've been anble to think about today.

EVERY scene that had Matthew and James being wholesome parabatai in it!!! my favourite chapter in this book was Blue Ruin, the one after Grace takes the bracelet back from James  (aside from the whispering room ofc).

ok ngl i didnt spend much of this book crying, but the only scene that actually made me tear up was when james was dying and matthew could feel it and jesse (WHO I FUCKING LOVED MORE THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD) gave him his last breath :(((((

there were not enough Christopher scenes (but to be fair, even if the entire book was just Christopher it still wouldnt be enough for me)

what disappointed you?

cassie honestly had me kinda shipping matthew/cordelia for a solid FIVE SECONDS there when he stepped in to dance with her after james left her standing there, but that was one of the only scenes that made me feel like they had natural chemistry (along with the scene where he drops her off at her house). I felt like the during the rest of their interactions in the book, cordelia was kind of uncomfortable, which made me really sad because even tho she has every right to feel that way, i felt bad for matthew. I kind of want him to fall for someone else completely and for it to be reciprocated. also, i just really want for matthew and cordelia to become good friends because i feel like they could have such great natural chemistry if matthew didnt love her.

ok there’s quite a few things here so bear w me babes:

- James genuinely loving cordelia from the start. I wasn’t expecting him to naturally feel nothing for grace at all, so i was expecting a slow burn jordelia, but finding out that he actually loves her makes me so happy but the end where cordelia thinks he was just pretending breaks my heart :(((

-matthew liking cordelia lol definitely was not expecting another parabatai love triangle but i hope it doesnt last. i do think it adds to the plot and i love it, it just hurts to see matthew so emo :(((

-I was expecting to like cordelia as a character, but i ended up LOVING her so fucking much???? she’s so three dimensional to me, and it’s interesting to see how her personality adapts around different characters as people adapt around different social circles irl

-liking jesse as much as i did

-ok so james’ entire character was a surprise to me. it’s so fascinating to see how the bracelet actually affected his personality.If you recall him in The Midnight Heir from TBC. he’s like an entirely different person. i still loved him in TMH but i went into CHOG thinking that if he was gonna be like that the entire time i’d probably get over him really quickly. i was pleasantly surprised by how much i ended up loving him even more tho

are there characters that you liked before that you don’t like now?

I started CHOG ready to give Grace the benefit of the doubt, and I was surprised by how timid and shy she seemed at the start, but it was interesting to see how it was all an act and how she doesn’t have an actual personality yet. one could argue that she actually does love james, but i doubt it at this point. i dont hate her yet, even tho she IS fucking up james’ life, but she’s on thin fucking ice.

who was your favorite new character?

does new character mean completely new or just never been in a novella new? because for the first, it would be Cordelia (i LOVE her sm!!) and other wise it would be james, matthew and co. also!!! jesse!!

ok so. we KNOW that jordelia is gonna be endgame. cassandra clare always takes the hardest path to get there, but when has she not delivered? it’s just a matter of waiting. so, yes, i did like the ending in sense of the plot because it was a great twist, but i also feel really bad for all of them even tho ik they’re eventually gonna be together :(((

i wasnt surprised, since we alr know that Tatiana is shady asf, but i just really wanna know how she partnered up with a GREATER demon like lol wtf. again, im really happy in terms of plot with this

i feel so. fucking bad. for cordelia. and james too, even tho he’s under the bracelet’s curse so he doesnt even KNOW he’s being manipulated. but i love how even through the curse, james still loves cordelia in his own way.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i always thought it was a weird choice to bring up merle’s arm during the chalice because it was played so much as a joke metatextually that it felt out of place next to the other two. especially knowing merle has backstory fodder too. i dont remember if they’d gotten to it yet. anyway i wish either they’d taken the arm thing more seriously the whole time or his option at the chalice was something else, i think the scene would have been more balanced. maybe it just felt out of place to deal with something we saw in game tho because the other two were backstory hooks. who knows.

then again griffin also brought up phandalin and they NEVER cared about that like it was always a joke so think partially it was griffin being like “CARE THESE ARE VERY SERIOUS THINGS THAT HAPPENED” so i guess thats fine. idk where im going with this.

For the last week or so, ive had The Last Hours on the brain. I think i may be more excited for Chain of Gold to hit the book shelves than i was for the birth of my first nephew. Im not even sure if im kidding or not.

Well if you knew him you would understand, hes terrible, anyways, ive been theorizing along with my bestie and have come up with some pretty cool theories

So here we go! Before i get started i must warn you there are #MAJORSPOILERS for Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy, The Bane Chronicles, Ghosts of the Shadowhunter Market, and other TSC books. Okay lets begin.

Theories

One: Grace Blackthorn

There is alot of speculation about Grace Blackthorn. Her last name, the one she is given at birth is Cartwright. James Herondale knew her when she was in Idris. In TftSA he speaks of her and the year is 1899 at the age of 13. He says shes in need of rescuing.

He says she has no other friends, my theory starts there.

I believe thats where Tatiana comes in to play. She is devoted to Tatiana because Tatiana is her saviour. I believe Grace is part fae and that she isnt just any fae, shes part siren which explains the allure she holds over James. She has to be something other than an ordinary shadowhunter because the comments Tatiana Blackthorn made about her in The Bane Chronicles and James' reaction to her when hes older is just crazy. Then of course her cruel words " there nothing i cant make you do" hmmm... interesting

Two: Jordelia Heronstairs marriage

I adore this marriage. I hope these two end up happy and i really hope our little Jamie doesnt end up heartbroken and stuck in a loveless marriage but from what we know so far, hes madly in love with Grace Blackthorn (which i suspect isnt all his doing) Moving on...

I believe their marriage is the arranged marriage that Cassie spoke of. I think that it has to do with saving Cordeila herself and not just the name. We know according to Cassie Cordelia and James marry at the end of TLH 1 and i assume alot after their marriage is crazy complicated. We know already Cordelia cares deeply for James but will he reciprocate those feelings eventually? who knows.

I think they marry because of how severe her fathers crimes were. They were said to be worse than Tobias Herondales and comparing the two makes me believe that the punishment will be as cruel or worse. It makes me think that the Clave will intend to strip Cordeila and Alistair as punishment for Elias's crimes, that or execute them. My theory is that Will and Tessa and Jem along with everyone involved in helping come together and decide that James should marry Cordelia because it will save her life. She would no longer be a Carstairs and the Clave wouldnt touch her.

Three: Lucie Herondale

Now this is a theory i have had for a while. A long while actually. People have speculated about Lucie's powers and i believe i have an idea of what she can do. Lucie has been extremely curious about Jesse Blackthorn for ages. She was lost in the forest in Idris as a child and someone helped her find her way home. I believe this was Jesse Blackthorn. We all know Herondales can see ghosts, my theory is that Lucie can actually make physical contact with ghosts. In TLH its why shes so freaking fascinated with him. He saved her all those years ago but he still looks the same. She could always touch him of course because of her gift but now so can everyone else and thats why everything about him is so intriguing to Lucie.

Four: Grace Blackthorn and Christopher Lightwood marriage? Sham?

I know it sounds crazy but of all of the marriages in TLH i believe this one is the one that is definitely most likely NOT a sham. We know theres a definite possibility it could happened. Think about this... Herondale eyes. they had to be passed down and the only person we know for a fact that has those eyes now is Alec. Alecs ancestor is Gabriel Lightwood and Cecily and how else would the gene get passed unless it was through them?

Anna has blue eyes but i doubt she would marry and have children, no other women have been introduced or spoke of in the slightest who arent related to him so i just dont think it could be anyone else. Aloof but beautiful underneath it all Christopher Lightwood marries mean heffer Grace Blackthorn. I really think that. I know the family tree is missleading but it does give you some idea of how far the familes go back, how many generations from TDA to TMI.

Or....theory Grace Blackthorn and Anna Lightwood.

Ive read pieces where Cassie has commented on the two of them speaking and it makes me wonder what type of relationship they end up having or if she just lets Grace have it for treating James like crap. You see Gabriel and Cecily have a baby named Alexander and it makes me think that maybe thats Alecs ancestor and the map is extremely inaccurate after all ☺

Five: Matthew and Christopher theory.

I believe Christopher and Matthew could be the boys in this snippet.

He took a deep breath, and crossed the floor of blades and constellations to the other boy’s side. He stood at the foot of the stairs, looking down.

“But of course,” he said, very softly, “your sentiments are reciprocated.”

He stooped over him, tilting his chin up. Their lips met. The other boy made a soft sound, almost like surrender, stretching under his body. He slid an arm around his neck and pulled him down onto the stairs.

Why?

Because Matthew is always taking responsibility for him. He calls him a genius. Christopher spends time at the Branwell houshold with Matthews father.

Matthew even says he loves taking care of people and hes good at it. He says be takes care of his father. He actually said in TftSA that he took care of Christopher Lightwood. The words spoken do sound like Matthew too.

Six: Love triangles

Recently there was a post about a love triangle in TLH with 2 women and 1 man. My guess is its gonna be with Anna, Grace, and James or it will be with Grace, Lucie, and Jesse. They arent really siblings and ive seen pics like this...

They make me think that the both of them want Jesse's heart. This photo was on Cassie's Pinterest it seemed to be the sort of photo like "its on" or "may the best woman win" i dunno. The kiss was just...this photo made me think of the two of THEM facing off. Judas Kiss or something.

Another thought was maybe Anna, Grace, and James is because i think the marriage between Cordelia and him could be a fluke at first and maybe he persues Grace still. Anna could end up falling for her as well and theres your triangle. I just have a feeling that Grace Blackthorn is involved in this thing.

Because i hate her.

I think he will either die, be stripped of his marks, or be turned into a downworlder which i freaking hate, i dont want Matthew to change hes perfect just the way he is and because i love him like a fat kid loves cake.

oh my god i just woke up and for a second i saw “hunger” and “sweet” and i was trying to remember where i’d said anything about his appetite or tastes given that i don’t know a goddamn thing about food

anyway, this is gonna be disjointed cos i dont have well-organized thoughts but here’s some talk about taako, mental illness, and the dangers of not caring/not letting people help you. more warnings in the tags. here’s 1k words of nonsense

sooo in my head & my heart the hunger doesn’t just kill. it doesn’t just slam tendrils down and call it a day. john hurt, and he wanted other people to feel what he felt and to see what he saw. he’s a charisma build! the hunger worms its way inside of a person’s heart and fucks you up from the inside. that’s my theory.

when it comes to the ipre, like, no one there isn’t mentally ill. there’s ptsd out the wazoo on that boat, and that’s AFTER the hunger has started chasing them. taako specifically i hc as borderline (with some other cluster b traits) – he’s got abandonment issues, he’s emotionally volatile, he splits and lashes out and assigns blame in all the wrong places. he’s also an intensely codependent person, most obviously with lup, but i’d also point to how easily he attaches himself to kravitz when he’s typically so closed off. we know these things. SO.

i’m also gonna explain smthn real quick, i have three Modes for taako: Taako With Lup, Taako Without Lup, and Taako Alone. taako with lup is pretty self-explanatory i think, that’s pre-memory-wipe, u know. taako WITHOUT lup is during the memory wipe, so the time of the actual podcast. taako alone is the period in which he remembers lup, but she isn’t around – the period in which he threatens lucretia and gives his speech about the world ending and him not giving a shit because he doesn’t have anything.

that’s coming from a taako who has formed important bonds with people! he has a boyfriend, he has a protege, he’s got the other two thb, he’s been reunited with most of the rest of the birds, and none of that matters to him bc lup is gone. it’s a snap judgment borne of grief, and while it’s totally understandable, i think it’s also a great example of how intensely vulnerable taako can be – even an example of how intensely vulnerable he MAKES himself by… trying not to be vulnerable. taako is a MESS, y’all

now comes the part where my thinking is less concrete – it’s more that i think there’s a lot to play with than that i have specific ideas. say taako misses the boat while they’re escaping a plane. even knowing that he’ll regenerate on the starblaster, it’s hard not to let the thought that they left him worm its way into his brain. if they’d waited thirty seconds, he wouldn’t have the hunger tearing him apart. if they’d waited thirty seconds he could have flown out there with him. if they’d waited thirty seconds he could hold lup’s hand until they respawn. but they didn’t, and now it’s inside of him, worming its way into his thoughts and making everything worse, and before the starblaster is even out of sight there’s an elf standing on the plane watching it go with black opal eyes.

think about taako during the first cycle where lup dies. he’s restless, he’s reeling, he doesn’t know what to do without lup or even who he is without lup. the other birds help (i still need to write some luc&taako shit about this) but they’re not lup, you know? no one is lup except lup. when the hunger comes that year he’s exhausted and lonely and so, so easy to take. they practically pluck him off of the boat. the call of Not Caring is so attractive when you care too hard. when he wakes up on the deck of the starblaster clinging to lup he clings harder and says nothing.

we know taako didn’t die a whole lot during tsc, but can you imagine when he did? how did it happen? what did it do to him? nothing good, i’m sure. we know taako has night terrors. how many nights do you think he dreams about the hunger claiming him, memories made worse by his own hell brains?

and then there’s purely theoretical situations. what if lup wasn’t in the umbra staff? sure, he goes along with the rest of the party, but if lup was truly gone, do you think he would’ve survived story and song? i’m not sure. that’s not even touching the fact that it’s lup who pushes him to transmute the circle of black glass. would anyone have survived story and song if taako had fallen to the hunger?

what if they weren’t both on the ship? what if he lost her to the hunger? i think he’d lose himself, too, respawning every year to be cold and hateful. imo lup was the impetus for taako to befriend the others, point blank, he wouldn’t have done it if not for her – especially not if he knew she was dead somewhere and he’ll never see her again. i don’t think it’s entirely unlikely that taako alone in these circumstances kills himself. i don’t think it’s entirely unlikely that he doesn’t do it several times. again, the draw of the hunger is in understanding that nothing matters. it’s nihilism incarnate. i think that would attract taako like nothing else. all he wants in the world is not to care. it hurts too much.

and what if lup was on the ship and he wasn’t? he watches her fly away, not knowing if she’ll escape but absolutely certain that he won’t. maybe he fights back in the hopes that he’ll see her again. maybe he thinks it’s a foregone conclusion and just holds his breath waiting for it to end. he’s unconscious in the opalescent sludge (Or Is He, god i wanna know more about how the hunger works) but he greets lup at the end of every year without fail.

i also think, given the right set of circumstances, taako could be the hunger, point blank. taako has the capacity for incredibly strong emotions that he tries to push down. he’s incredibly intelligent and competent at magic. i don’t think it’s beyond reason that he could see Beyond or whatever the fuck and come back so horrified and hurt that he spreads.

i mean, what does john say the hunger is? dissatisfaction. and what do the judges accuse taako of?

i mean, come on. can’t you just hear him? 

the speech patterns are different, obviously, but this level of self-assured arrogance? this delusion of grandeur? tell me that’s not taako.

In fandoms, if two boys hold hands people ship them all across the board. No two boys can be very platonically close. But if the same thing happens with two girls who have even more of a bond and it could be seen as romantic? "gal pals". there's so much prejudice against wlw and i'm not gonna go into why because uhh yeah.

there are hardly any sapphic ships in popular series. if wlw want to ship two female characters who they see romantically and who they can identify with? fucking let them oh my god.

have you ever shipped two straight people and hoped they'd be together? it's not any different apart from there being more hope because we've had to struggle with not being accepted and even thinking there's something wrong with us. having representation is important.

so before you go off on your long ass rants because internally you're upset that queer people want to see themselves in media, maybe just think about how it feels? these characters and ships mean so much to us. more than any of ur otps might mean to you.

some of these ships (mostly canon ones like haline and malec) have saved peoples lives. yet there are hardly any, still. there is the whole aspect of publishers and editors or whoever not allowing queer characters or ships into the books. that's very bad. so with the lack of queer ships, what the hell is wrong with queer people shipping non-canon queer ships because they mean a lot to us and we need to feel represented? they're just fucking ships that we're not forcing onto anyone else.

"they're not lgbt+ so why are u shipping them???2?1? thats bad!!2!1!" i don't know gemima have u seen the colossal amounts of straight people in books? we dont get that. fucking let us ship what we want. it's not harming you.

is it considered bad to ship basil hallward and dorian gray because dorian isnt canonically gay? considering the events of that book i'd say that's uhhh a wild ship but no, people embrace it. is it bad that people ship remus lupin and sirius black? no, it's not. it's fine, and remus lupin is married. so why is it suddenly not allowed for people to ship a girl who's in an unofficial het relationship w another girl? by fandom standards, that should be fine. people ship draco malfoy and harry potter, theyre both married to women. it's not sexuality erasure so that's okay too. the difference? it's only considered ok with f/m and m/m ships. it's not okay at all for jk rowling to say that people shouldnt ship remus/sirius or anyone. what people have been saying about sapphic ships is exactly the same context except theyre not the author of tsc. people ship non canon queer ships in basically every fandom. usually due to the lack of them in the first place. it's the same thing here with sapphics and f/f ships, though i'm certain that cassie would include more if she were allowed. which is why she is going to include more in later books.

the fact remains: you have to question yourself if everyone you support is white and not diverse at all. you have to question yourself when most-all of the books/movies/tv shows you like are uninclusive and unrealistically undiverse. you have to question yourself when the only ships/characters you like are m/m or f/m, or even if you have a bunch of non-canon m/f and m/m ships but no non-canon f/f ships (although if you're not into shipping any non-canon ships that's absolutely fine.) you have to ask yourself how you can do better, and listen to the marginalised groups that you're affecting.

when it gets to this point— when you're being extremely discriminatory agains sapphic characters, ships, and even people in fandoms— it's not good at all. this is why we had haline day, because they're the only sapphic ship (apart from the werewolf girl and her girlfriend in tbc, they never came up again so they don't really count sbbssj) in any published tsc books so far, and they're married, but there was little to no content of them. it was mostly sapphic people who made content for them. (which isn't okay, because straight people and sapphic people as well as mlm create content for loads of different mlm ships). but since then there's been a huge improvement, and it's absolutely great. but this is another hurdle. all we can hope to do is do better as a fandom.

it's not that you have to ship every non-canon sapphic ship— you don't. although, like i said before, if you ship non-canon f/m and m/m ships, not shipping non-canon f/f ships is a problem. and, not to subtweet or anything, but this is just an example using something i saw. it makes no sense to say "yeah sorry i don't like them much because i dont like the friends to lovers trope ://" but your main het ship is a friends to lovers ship.

there's no need to spread negativity about a ship that is unproblematic. i don't like jemma, i've talked about it because i don't like a lot of things that have happened w them, and that's my opinion. i dont force it on people knowingly. i don't ship heronchild non-platonically (i love their platonic relationship though), and i think that they're one of the male friendships that's made romantic because of the "if boys show affection towards each other they're gay" thing, but it's fine that people ship them! it's absolutely fine.

what's not fine is what has happened: sapphic people having one canon ship to identify with and feel represented by, so we ship non-canon ships in peace. they're entirely unproblematic (honestly, name one problematic thing about rosast@irs or lil/ia in canon), but people are creating anti tags for them, and saying that we shouldnt ship them or want to feel represented by them.

as a fandom this is something we need to change and do better on. there's no use in arguing with the marginalised people in question (in this case: sapphic people) especially when the majority of us feel this way. i've seen sapphic people themselves doing what i am addressing here, that doesn't justify it.

i hope you've gotten my points without feeling like it's an attack, because it's not. it's a bad thing that needs to be addressed and changed. the discrimination and erasure against wlw/sapphic people, characters, and ships is a lot. it's toxic, and if our fandom can do better, isn't that a good thing?
