just realized what this band has given me. i’m about to be really vulnerable after the cut, you’ve been warned 🤪✌🏼 i’ll tag the trigger warnings 🫶🏼

i first found Greta during a kind of traumatic time for me. i was in the middle of losing my 3rd pregnancy, the baby was 23 weeks and it was a baby i was loosely planning to keep. finding a band that preached so adamantly about love, acceptance, change, among other things, was so needed in that time. since November 2022 i’ve been able to respond to situations in my life with new, better intention. the love i’ve been listening to the last nearly 8 months has had an impact on how i look at people and has helped me respond with the love every person deserves. im not perfect but i have grown a LOT. as a person who has BPD it’s not very common you can go without medications, however, im no longer able to afford it meeeeeeaning i’ve been raw dogging life since November, and! my life is better than it’s ever been. i’ve done the work to look at how i respond to my environment and have changed that for the better.

it’s been a few months that i’ve been on tumblr now, in that time i think my capacity to love has grown exponentially! i’ve been blessed with some really beautiful people in my little corner of the internet! people i’ve met through this fandom!!!!! i had a bad time on twitter so i remember feeling nervous when i started interacting with people on tumblr. but boy!! if tumblr isn’t the exact opposite. i have filled my dash with people that are preaching the same love the band does!

im really grateful that i’ve found a peaceful place in my life. i did a lot of hard work to get to where i am! im proud of myself for choosing to respond now with love and understanding. i love all of you and all of me!

and then some very smart people on this site were like …i mean babe. if you don’t hate it but you don’t love it, what do you feel about they?

and i was like …actually. i kinda rock with they! they feels pretty fuckin cool. and then i went WHAT DOES THIS MEEEEEEAN THO and those same people were like “whatever the fuck you want it to, you KNOW THIS, just quit stressing and see where it leads you”

like, seriously. whenever people freak out about the rise of the singular they ripping apart the fabric of gender, im like YEAH. GOOD. because without a rise in visibility and spaces where i could start to ask myself these questions, i don’t think i would have asked them at all.

which is to say: right now i’m in a space where they/she feels like where i’m sitting for now. and maybe i stay here! maybe i don’t, who fuckin knows. we are all a million people every single day before we even get out of bed to show aspects of ourselves to the world around us but never quite our entirety and all that.

hooonestly there are probably 3 gens — pre-2005, 2005–2012ish, 2013ish onwards — but for the sake of most people reading this it’s more like before and after ~2012. not that we’re being super pedantic about this, but if i say old gen then at least you know what’s going on in my head! sue and julian are both definitely old gen and i can’t WAITTT for that! apart from simon and definitely miles, we all want to see ed byrne, right?? gangly bastard i just love him

i am really surprised how many people said kiell was their overall favourite from the series, even though he was obviously a lot of fun. i have a serious aversion to...genuine anger. on taskmaster, at least? some frustration is okay (speaking of which omg i was just rewatching bridget x alex moments and it’s fucking HILARIOUS to me what she brings out in alex that literally no one else has, and i’m terrified of 1) her power and 2) alex’s tiny “for fuck’s sake”s)), and i obviously don’t mind bantz, but ed and greg and all of the contestants re-inforcing how annoyed kiell was at the trickery and scoring ambiguity was somewhat of a turn-off for me. there’s a spectrum of what i’d call uncool anger on the show ranging from iain stirling on the most offensive end to, like, josh widdicombe on the whiny, frustrated end? and kiell was certainly no iain and that’s not his overall comedic persona anyways, so it wasn’t that i came to dislike him, only that he couldn’t surmount the others to be one of my faves from the series. this is something that only i seemed to feel about fern, as well, when she genuinely whined about certain elements of the tasks or just used that, what greg called, “reverted to a 15-year-old complaining” voice that only i seemed to find pretty unfunny, but i disgress—

—ANYWAYS, i find that i like everyone on every series more the second or third time i watch it through, and i found both kiell and mae even more charming after watching it again! i was just thinking, wouldn’t it have been even more madness is kiell and jenny were on a team alone without mae to ground them in any way? LMAO...gives me a chuckle to imagine it... the team of 3 did feel just a hair too random this series, but i don’t think i would have changed frankie x ivo even though both jenny x kiell and oldies vs young’uns both would have been a little better overall. also it was so cute when kiell would totally body a task and then just give that :)!! i could see how much fun alex had with him and not quite knowing where he was going to go with things, and i think the contestants’ dynamics with alex are really underrated aspects of what make them great on the show. i do hope kiell looks back fondly at the whole experience :’)

004. what was the first fic you bookmarked? i don’t bookmark fics, sorry! i remember when i first started reading fics i went searching for tsunami fics specifically 

005. what is your favourite oneshot? i’m not sure if this counts bc it’s part of the evolution of buddie series, but @marvelingjules‘ fic bittersweet triumph is one of my top tier faves!! it’s the entry where eddie’s parents come to town and they assume buck and eddie are dating and take issue with it and things come to blow

006. what is your favourite multi-chapter fic? @bibuddie‘s fic series the things we lost in the fire!! 200k+ spread across 2 fics and over 30 chapters dealing with buck’s childhood trauma, his relationship with his parents, and his growing feelings for eddie. it is So Good and i am working myself up to a re-read sometime soon. 

007. what is your favourite ‘established’ fic? honestly, i don’t read a lot of established fics (mainly bc my favorite part in fanfic is reading about a couple Getting Together) but i absolutely love @woodchoc-magnum‘s fic series you can tell everybody this is your song!! TECHNICALLY it’s not fully established bc the first fic does cover them getting together but like ... it’s a 330k+ series and part 1 is only 18k so i am saying it counts and that is my final answer. 

008. what is your favourite ‘getting together’ fic? i absolutely adore @sevensoulmates‘ fic don’t take my sunshine away—does that count as a getting together fic? i mean they Get Together but there are definitely other things happening in the fic. whatever, that’s the answer i’m going with!! 

009. if buddie went canon, how do you think it would happen? i meeeeeean i try not to get my hopes up too much so i don’t tend to think about how it would work out in canon, but i figure if it DID one of them would start dating a girl and the other would get jealous bc suddenly the other is busy all the time and preoccupied with someone else and not understand where all that jealousy is coming from until they have their big Epiphany Moment. and then eventually they’d have a great dramatic confession and a kiss and it would be peak content but AGAIN i’ll take what i can get tbh

010. what are your top 4 headcanons for buddie? a.) buck fell in love with eddie in 3.03 when he said there was no one else he trusted with chirs more b.) eddie doesn’t have any sexual/romantic experience with guys (buck def does) but he is aware of his attraction to men. he’s just never acted on it  c.) eddie has definitely given a copy of his house key to buck d.) buck is on the list of approved guardians/adults to contact/people allowed to pick him up for chris at his school
