Joseph, just like Chika, had someone weak and helpless in his care. However, when the threat of death from starvation drove him into a corner, he refused to abandon the one he promised to protect. Unlike Chika

The stripes motif in Loumand's bedroom and on both of their pajamas. The box/coffin motif with Loustat, "his love is a small box", "put me in my coffin Louis", but "coffin with the lock from the inside"

I do often think about how, when it comes to mafia husbands, one took his role out of duty and so his brothers wouldn't have to and one ended up in this life against his will and wonder if, given the chance, they'd choose differently, since in a world of fiction, there's always other options (ahem mr. Tang Yi & co)
- So what I'm saying is that I need a fic where daddy Korn finally drops dead and my boys finally choose the peace they deserve

Red Hood Tim doesn’t work because he’d just blow Joker’s head off and leave, probably without ever even talking to Bruce.
Red Hood Steph doesn’t work because she wouldn’t be surprised that Bruce didn’t avenge her because it would never even occur to her that that was something he might possibly do for her.

I heard through the grapevine that Bungie said Unveiling is like a biblical story (i.e. metaphor/cosmogenic myth) narrated to us entirely by the Witness, and I know some people are now upset because that debunks its true-ness. But! But. Isn't the thing about myths that they are made true through people believing in the answers they provide? Cyclical time. Every autumn Persephone comes down to Hades. The prodigal son's brother who never existed, but disgruntled Christians (me) relate to him at a core-deep level. Verses of wisdom put down thousands of years ago that we still quote and apply to our own lives. Folklore and the tooth fairy. Isn't it all true, as long as we believe it, as long as a better answer doesn't come up?

Funny how the alt-right YTbers that relished in the Chuggaaconroy allegations back in January have now switched to calling Lady Emily, et.al, "liars" and peddling misogyny and transphobia.
Almost seems like they don't care about victims at all... and like to chase clout for monetary gain... regardless how many people get hurt...

What 'bury your gays' is: a Hays-code holdover, where queer characters have an expectation of having to be punished for their "less-than-virtuous" sexual tastes. It may be sentimental or sympathetic, but the (typically token) queer character dies as a result of their doomed attraction.
What 'bury your gays' is not: a queer character in a story with multiple queer characters who dies.

I really do want Rolin to describe exactly what he saw. I mean, the bits of Sam as Lestat-as-Harlequin we saw in the episode were genuinely impressive, it feels like he has a lot of body control. So...I hope Rolin is very inspired
Tumblr media
Honestly, Rolin would not have been out of line assuming a white Australian man has no sense of rhythm, hahaha.
It does make me wonder how much choreography they actually did for the scene though, especially as we see such little glimpses of it but presumably they would've probably staged at least a few scenes from the play itself? This is neither here nor there for either of your asks, haha, but I actually figured out which one it was for writing Ungodly Hour too, which was a bit of an adventure given Anne never specifies it in the book, but it's definitely the French comedy Arlequin Balourd (or Unbalanced Harlequin) and from the description of it, I can see why Rolin made Lestat Harlequin instead of Lelio (at least in Armand's recollection) lol:
Flaminia is the ward of the Doctor who intends to marry her.  Lelio loves Flaminia, who loves him, but as the Doctor keeps her imprisoned, Lelio uses his servants Scapin and Arlequin to find ways of letting him see his mistress.  Arlequin is promised a substantial reward if he succeeds and, being jealous of Scapin’s rival efforts, he devises multiple schemes, carrying them out so clumsily that he causes a row between his master and Flaminia.  Arlequin’s blunders create the plot of this play and the marriage of the two lovers is the conclusion.
It's especially interesting to me too given it seems like Harlequin's actually the main character of the play, even if Lelio's the romantic lead. I feel like the can probably have a lot of fun with that.
(There's a fascinating article here about it's UK tour in 1719 if anyone's interested in a little theatre history!)

the best outcome of this would be if other youtubers/streamers/people with bigger platforms see it, understand how much impact can be made with something like this and take it as inspiration to do similar charity streams themselves. like for once, please do steal phil's idea!
(I am aware they weren't the first ones to do a charity stream and it's not truly their original idea, but in their sphere and looking at people with similar or bigger audiences they are one of if not the first?)
