I’ve seen a lot of people make comments about characters we’ve “seen enough/too much of” and here’s my take on it: Kirk didn’t need to be in Generations, Worf didn’t need to be on Deep Space Nine, the Abrams movies didn’t need to be a reboot of TOS, Spock didn’t need to be on Discovery (and Michael didn’t need to have any connection to him), and Picard didn’t need to have his own show when TNG already had 7 seasons and 4 movies.

Been thinking about it - especially after a conversation w a friend (@rjfantasy) of mine - and Worf is actually super similar to Spock. Both of them are so determined to not be human (for expectations) that they inadvertently sort of misrepresent their races.

Vulcans aren't emotionless and Klingons can and do laugh

Spock does it because he grew up with Vulcans and with a strict father who probably struggled to connect with his humanity (which he then tried to squash, to some extent)

And Worf does it because he grew up with humans and dealt with that culture shock and is (forgive me) clinging on to what makes him unique, along with the culture and family he lost

Fortunately they both have lots of friends who are like "lol but I don't care I like who you are"

In the words of my friend, they are the same energy, just opposite.
