on twitter, a viral thread started where people around the world shared their translations of “If I must die”, the last work of Dr Refaat Alareer also known as "the voice of Gaza". A beloved poet, teacher and life-long activist for Palestine, he was recently assassinated along with members of his extended family by a targeted Israeli air strike. His loss leaves a hole in the heart of palestinians all over the world.

What If: Captain America Were Revived Today? #44 (April 1983) by Peter B. Gillis and Sal Buscema; Original Image by John Romita Sr.

In this What If? Marvel tale, Captain America is unfrozen in 1983 rather than the 1960s. Without the leadership of Steve Rogers, The Avengers disband. Meanwhile, a Captain America imposter, who calls himself a "real American," has decided to use his newfound influential media status to publicly support a National Identity Card to "deal with illegal aliens,” to suggest that members of civil rights groups "ought to think seriously as to whether or not their actions contribute to the strengthening of communist enemies," and declare that if those groups tear the country apart with protests, martial law is justified "for the peace to find a solution.”

Neighborhoods with large black populations (e.g., Harlem) are walled off and forced into poverty, and one character even mentions that Jewish people are being “put back into camps.” The right-wing politicians make sure that things like this aren’t shown on television, keeping the majority of the American public ignorant of the horrors committed with their indifferent support. The public are simultaneously told that with some sacrifices, America can be free once again. The fake Captain America confronts a group of peaceful protestors, and he is shot by a sniper (in what reads like an inside job), allowing the police to have “reason” to attack the protestors. The imposter does not die and instead uses the attack to provide more reason for the violent crackdown against protesting groups.

When the true Captain America is unfrozen, he is horrified to see what America has become, especially with his emblem stamped all over it. He immediately seeks out the resistance forces (who clearly represent the Black Panther Party) and joins their cause, stating that "the wrongs [he's] seen will take much more than one man to right -- but [he's] got a name to clear, a costume to unsoil-- and a country to die for!!"

By the time Steve joins them, the resistance only has one chance left to stop the American downfall: a political convention where the "America First" party will be able to secure its support to sweep the national elections and allow them "to return America to the pure and great nation [the] forefathers envisioned."

The resistance strikes just as the convention begins. The Captain America imposter is no match in a fight against the true Captain America -- especially against a Steve Rogers who's fucking pissed. ("Get up so I can knock you down!!")

With the imposter knocked unconscious, Captain America addresses the convention crowd, warning that an America that does not represent all its people does not deserve to exist at all; that liberty can be "as easily snuffed out [in America] as in Nazi Germany" and "as a people, we are no different from them."

The crowd realizes that the man speaking before them is the true Captain America and cheers. Captain America holds his hand up and silences them, stating that he will not allow them the chance to simply replace one idol with another. He alone can’t undo the horrible damage, and he pleads that there’s still a chance for the people to “find America once again.”

Fascism doesn’t change its tune, just its singers.

istg when people talk about early risers they often think people who aren't in bed until like noon and anytime before that is super crazy early like nah an early riser is like anything before 7am lets be real here at least 😭 7-10am are probably the most common hours to wake up, not an "early bird" in the slightest in my opinion

I have nothing but contempt for people who are in free countries yet support a dictatorship, support the war on a free country. I suppose russian propaganda has gotten to them here, but that's no excuse. They should know better. It's so obvious to anyone with half a brain who looks at the russian invasion that it's wrong and must be stopped. Russia is a huge country who attacked its smaller neighbor. No justification. Any "justification" is propaganda. It is merely a war of expansion.

Fighting against it is as morally right as fighting the nazis in world war II. Because russia is also doing nazi like things to pieple, not "just" bombing peaceful cities and killing civilians on purpose. It's committing grotesque war crimes. Just because Ukrainians dared to be free. Just because they dared to resist the russian machine that wanted to spread darkness and tyranny over Ukraine, not satisfied with keeping it in their own country.

You're telling me I can't criticize my own country for funding and supporting a genocide

That You first teach us about history then you get mad when we use our knowledge to point out that history is repeating itself

But when I watch a movie I'm supposed to hate the bad guys but in reality they are cheered for?

That it's socially accepted and politically endorsed to root for the literal terrorists (idf) that have joy in Killing innocents that are so sick and twisted and brainwashed for generations its a damn cult they celebrate the death of every Palestinian and don't see them as humans and you stand with them ?

That once again people have to plead and explain themselves and argue to be seen as humans that deserve to live

you have to debate with the world if they seem you worthy of life and if you're not white enough you're not

That you can't take a minute of your life to get informed you just swallow up the propaganda and refuse to see the inhuman sick ways of the oppressor

Divide and Conquer

That’s what the history books will say led to the success of the fascist American empire.

The American people were so busy fighting each other. Liberal vs. Conservative. Black vs. White. Rich vs. Poor. Able vs. Disabled. Christians vs. Atheists. Straight vs. Queer. Born Citizens vs. Immigrants.

These titles we’ve imposed upon ourselves are just lines they’ve drawn to trick us into thinking that we’re different. That were enemies. That there is a wrong and right within the American people, but the only thing wrong with this country is the people in charge. Our so called leaders profiting off the victimization of their own people.

“The land of the free” but the only ones actually free to do as they wish are the same ones promoting that propaganda. Most modern empires survive for a few hundred years before a revolution wipes the slate clean and those left get to try again, try to do better. America is long overdue for some change, this country has passed its expiration date. But the government has such a solid grip on its people, a grip that threatens more and more each day to snatch our final breaths right from our throats, that we can’t even imagine a world in which our voice matters. But it does, it’s the only thing that does, they have power because we let them, but it’s supposed to be an equal transaction, and yet most of us can barely afford to live while they spend our money on supporting genocide and senseless war.

And I’m sick of it. I’m so tired of feeling so useless, so voiceless, so small, when I know that our government would be nothing without us. They poison our air, our water, our food, our minds, all to keep us fat, sick, and dumb. But they forget that they would be nothing without us. They forget that the second we’re done with them and their ideals and rules, that it’s all over.

The American people need to wake up.

The American people need to take back their voice. The American people need to shout and get loud and say “No More.”

The American people need to take back their country, before it’s too late. Before there are no American people left. ✊🏾

Israel has not just revealed itself to the world. It has revealed the evils that exist in each government that supported this genocide: the hypocrisy, the anti-humanity, the enmity towards own people.

They call this democracy? They have hijacked Democracy to treat the people as manipulatable and ignorable. They go against every value they postured to the world. What is left is dirty politics. Wake up. Wake up. You can not let yourself be “represented” like this.
