Okay I’m STILL thinking about the MBS muppet movie (thanks MBS fandom, specifically @mvshortcut @itsgoghtime @sophieswundergarten @oflightningandstars).
Because I’m torn on this casting thing. You see, I love the dialogue between Kermit Reynie and Curtain (Milk’s edit was amazing), but I also love the idea of Reynie played by Walter and Kermit as Nicholas, so that we can have a heartbreaking flashback of baby Nathaniel being left behind as tiny muppet baby Kermit (Nicholas) leaves with his new family. Also the whole thing about Kermit freaking out because the other muppets kidnap Jack Black in that one movie could parallel nicely with brainwashed Nicholas being upset his friends are kidnapping his brother. Plus having Nicholas as Kermit and SQ as Robin the frog further encourages the Nicholas SQ parallels (plus Google confirmed that Robin is Kermit’s nephew).
Now on the other hand, I’m not the best at muppet lore, but I believe Walter does have a human brother, which would make Walter being Nicholas more character fitting (plus Curtain and Walter as Nicholas could do the “Am I a muppet or a man?” Song), yet Walter seems like a younger puppet based on vibes and Nicholas needs to have that old wise mentor vibe.
We could also have Tony Hale as Nicholas and have Curtain be a muppet, which I believe itsgoghtime suggested, and that would be perfect, because I love the idea of Jackson and Jillson getting bossed around by an evil muppet. However, the muppet in question would need to look scary enough to be intimidating, but also be able to handle the scenes in the season finales where Curtain is crying and falls asleep in season 1 and thinks Nicholas is gonna die in season 2. I think Ms. Piggy is good for that, but I also really like Ms. Piggy for Constance, because the sass and the pink fits perfectly.
Now I don’t know if anyone still has thoughts or strong opinions on this, but you all are the ones that flipped this switch in my brain, so by golly you’re gonna hear what comes out.
And that includes any more scene dialogue my brain autogenerates. Including what’s in the tags (this is for you Sophie)

I’m alive! And I’m gonna be rewriting/reworking Dimensional Disaster- editing our cast, practicing how I draw them, working on the story, etc. So I will be working on it again soon!
For now, though, I present y’all with a close look at two of our main protagonists: the redesigned Kailani Hale, from a tech-reliant universe, and the revived Alex Mckay, who in the story originally comes from the small town of Perfection, Nevada in a universe that isn’t quite as perfect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kailani Hale
Kailani originally comes from a futuristic, technology reliant universe run not by a government, but by a major corporation known as MATRIX. MATRIX is the sole producer of anything and everything technology-related throughout the nation. They control internet access, the media, the economy, the political systems, everything. They keep everything going.
Kailani wasn’t exactly someone at the top of the food chain in this universe- think, the middle man. She was a project manager and head engineer, supervising major projects that would be put into circulation nationwide and monitoring the work of those beneath her. She worked alongside the Directors to put new concepts on motion and improve the company for public favor. She was a neutral party in this world.
Until she stumbled upon a project that the owner and founder, Joseph Alt, had been working on behind the scenes. Project D-100, it was called. A device that resembled a pocket watch, able to open doors to hundreds of different dimensions.
She only meant to take a look; she was only curious how it worked. But that didn’t mean anything when the alarms went off, when security guards pursued her down the halls of the laboratory, shooting with the intention to kill.
Kailani ended up using the device to escape, and ended up in a completely different universe, just as it was intended to work. The only issue was…she didn’t know how to get back to her own universe. And there began her journey through dimensions, exploring and gaining friends across the fabric of the universe.
That’s how she met her best friend, Alex.
Alex McKay
Alex McKay hails from Dimension TR-3M0R, a seemingly normal universe to anyone who didn’t know better.
Nothing dystopian or utopian about it. Just the regular earth, regular people, regular little towns.
Alex is a young woman who moved from Bixby, Nevada to Perfection, a little town in the middle of nowhere to start her life after college. She started her own little farm, with small numbers of livestock and crop to live sustainably and sell to others either in town or the next town over. She got on well with her neighbors, like the old guy who turned his house into a bunker and the girl who ran what was formerly Walter Chang’s Market.
Life was great. Until she found herself face to face with an infestation of giant sand worms that the town lovingly called Graboids. That’s right. Alex comes from the Tremors universe, where the Graboids roam and the Shriekers and Assblasters get blown up into a pulp.
Alex did eventually grow accustomed to the weirdness of Perfection, to watching out for El Blanco the sterile Graboid and warding off other strange creatures. She thrived out in the small town, even in chaos. And then she met Kailani.
I’m going to make a comic of how they met eventually. For now, have lore :D

Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert in It Happened One Night (Frank Capra, 1934)
Cast: Clark Gable, Claudette Colbert, Walter Connolly, Roscoe Karns, Jameson Thomas, Alan Hale, Arthur Hoyt, Blanche Friderici, Charles C. Wilson. Screenplay: Robert Riskin, based on a story by Samuel Hopkins Adams. Cinematography: Joseph Walker. Art direction: Stephen Goosson. Film editing: Gene Havlick. Music: Howard Jackson.
It Happened one Night was made before Frank Capra let his sentimental populism go to his head, so it has just the right amount of social consciousness, especially the sympathy for the victims of the Great Depression. We see it in the camaraderie of the bus riders singing "The Man on the Flying Trapeze," the willingness of Peter (Clark Gable) to give his last dollar to help a mother and son who have spent all their money on bus fare and have none left for food, and in the sense of entitlement shown by rich girl Ellie (Claudette Colbert), who learns a lesson when she tries to jump the queue for the showers at the trailer court. Later, Capra would want to preach at us about the power of The People in Meet John Doe (1941) and the way One Man Can Change the World in It's a Wonderful Life (1946), films I can find it hard to watch today. But here he's just content to give us a good-natured romantic comedy with a social subtext. It has all the earmarks of the genre: a meet-cute, a hate-at-first-sight, a falling-in-love, a crisis, and a happy ending -- the paradigmatic runaway bride. It's not especially a laugh-riot, which may be why Gable and Colbert, who didn't want to make the movie to start with, thought when they'd finished it that it would be a bomb. Its charms are quieter but in their way entirely satisfying, in part because whatever their doubts about the movie they were making, the two stars were consummate pros and Capra allowed their natural charm and charisma to shine. All three of them won Oscars, of course, as did the movie and Robert Riskin for his screenplay. Joseph Walker's cinematography deserves a mention, as does a cast that includes Walter Connolly, Roscoe Karns, Alan Hale, and, as the dimwit bus driver whose only response to Peter's insults is a feeble "Oh, yeah," Ward Bond.

The Spanish Princess (Starz)
I went a bit out of sequence for this, because my free Starz trial ends September 1st and I don’t trust my ability to get through three whole seasons of The Borgias and finish The Spanish Princess in a week and a half. So I skipped The Borgias for now, but will be watching it next. After being kind of meh about The White Princess, I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this series. I managed to blow through all eight episodes in about three days.
However, now I find out there is a season two of TSP coming, but it’s not available in Canada yet, it seems.
The Good: This show is hilarious if you know anything about Henry VIII and all his wives. There are so many little lines of dialogue that are like little Easter Eggs, such has Harry’s promise to never, ever love another. Oh boy.
In the early episodes I liked how they introduced some of the cultural differences between Spain and England. Historical drama has a tendency to be very Britain-centric, so it’s a refreshing change to see England treated as this ‘strange new place’ especially when it’s in that sort of “What is wrong with these weird, repressed people? They don’t even WAIL at FUNERALS? Or BATHE every day? or NAP?” way.
There’s a bigger time jump between this and The White Princess, so the aging up of characters seemed more reasonable and not as jarring.
The Bad: Some of the accents are.. oh boy. Also, all of the men of the privy council kind of look the same, and all seem to be named Thomas.
Favorite Characters: Catherine is a strong main character, and I’m rooting for her, even though we all know things don’t turn out great for her.
Maggie Pole continues to be a favorite, and continues to get a raw deal when all she wants is to be left to her own devices. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Princess Meg and I am looking forward to seeing more of her in season two. She’s just feisty and no-BS and I love her relationship with her brothers, and her introduction to her husband and the big smile on her face makes me hopeful she’ll be happy with King James, even with all his kids.
Least Favorite Characters: Being outside the fourth wall and having the foresight of history is a terrible thing because I already dislike Prince Harry, like, a lot.
Margaret Beaufort, won’t you just die already? I can’t believe I’m saying that considering how much I loved her character in The White Queen.  But early Margaret was a much more sympathetic, if single-minded character. That said, I’ve seen three different women portray her in the last month, and while Amanda Hale is still my favorite Margaret, Harriet Walter really brings home how ‘My Lady, the King’s Mother’ manipulated those around her, something that Michelle Fairley’s portrayal unfortunately lacked.
OTP: Lina + Oviedo: I hope those crazy kids can make it work. Catherine + Arthur: We could have had it aaaaaaallllll
Forget everyone else, I don’t care if it is historically inaccurate, I loved Maggie + Thomas More just because want all the goodness for Maggie and also the actors had amazing chemistry.
Faces I Recognized: Charlotte Hope (Game of Thrones), Angus Imrie (Fleabag).
So, I looked through the casting page and got super freaking excited to see not only Mark Rowley (The Last Kingdom), but Ray Stevenson (Rome) listed and I cannot describe the disappointment in knowing I won’t see either of them until next season, although I think I caught a 2-second glimpse of Mark in the background of episode 2 when Meg gets betrothed to King James of Scotland. I think he *may* have been one of the two dudes who showed up with William Dunbar. Did I go back over that scene several times to see if it was him? I might have.
EDIT: So I barely recognized Ray Stevenson as King James, but I sure recognized Mark Rowley and my poor little heart broke each time asmy brain screamed “MY SWEET SWEET FINAN WHY ARE YOU SO MEAN?”
That said, he did well in the role, it was just hard to watch him be such a dick.
Maybe I need to learn to separate characters from their actors more. Nah.

Fandom list-
This is a mlm/nblm reader blog, please don’t interact with this post or any of my other stuff if you’re female.
I’ve been needing to update my list for a while, but since I put it together on PC it’s almost impossible to make any sense of when editing on mobile/iPad. So I’m just gonna make a new one.
If a fandom isn’t on here, it’s safe to assume I either don’t know it or don’t want to write for it. If there’s a character in a show that you’re curious about but isn’t listed, you can ask about them, but chances are I didn’t list them for a reason. I may have forgotten to list some stuff, though, so don’t hesitate to to ask if you just want to be sure!

Journey to the Center of the Theater by Walter Kerr - caught my eye with its iconic Al Hirshfield star caricatures on the cover
Fosse, a book about: you guessed it: Bob Fosse. Could be terrible, but hey. IT was like 25 cents. XD
And some musicals and dvds!
Tumblr media
Funny Girl OBC
Hairspray movie soundtrack
Mamma Mia! I almost didn’t get, but it’s a very nice special edition original soundtrack and it was like a dollar. XD
Jamie Cullum’s Devil May Care album, which I love
(not pictured: Chris Rice’s album What a Heart is Beating For, I forgot to put it in the stack, my favorite Chris Rice album probably)
La La Land (!!!!)
Two seasons of Psych (!!!!)
There you have it!
Someone come buy me a new bookshelf.
