Fast story of Putrada Ekadashi
Lord Krishna himself had told the importance of Putrada Ekadashi to Dharmaraj Yudhishthir. According to the legend, in a city, there lived a king named Suketuman, whose wife's name was Shaivya. The king and queen had no children, about which he was always worried. He was always worried about who would take over his throne after that who would perform his last rites, Shraddha, Pind Daan, etc. after his death who would liberate him, and who would satisfy his ancestors. Just thinking about all this, the king started falling ill.
Once the king went out to visit the forest and started seeing the beauty of nature, there he saw how deer, peacocks, and other animals and birds were enjoying life with their wives and children. Seeing this he became even more disturbed. He started thinking that despite doing so many good deeds, I was childless. Then the king felt thirsty and started wandering here and there in search of water. While wandering, his eyes fell on the hermitage of sages built on the banks of a river. Being a devotee, the king went there and paid obeisance to all the sages. Seeing the simple nature of the king, all the sages were extremely pleased with him and asked him to ask for a boon. To which the king replied, “O God! By the grace of God and you Saint Mahatmas, I have everything, only I have no children, due to which my life is meaningless.”
Hearing this the sage said, “King! God himself has sent you here today with a special blessing on you. Today is Putrada Ekadashi and you should fast on this Ekadashi with full devotion. By doing this you will get a son. Hearing this from the sage, the king observed that fast and according to the rules Break the fast on the day of Dashashi. After a few days, the queen became pregnant and gave birth to a bright and successful son and finally, the king attained salvation. In this way the importance of this fast increased manifold.

NOTES About Today's PODCAST (6-5-18)
The Anurag Sagar -- Guru Kabir's "Ocean of Love", is one of many sacred texts composed and used by the Dharamdasi Branch of Kabir Panth and Sant Mat, the Sant Dharam Das line of Masters ("the People of the Anurag Sagar"). The Anurag Sagar is a volume of the "Kabir Sagar" Series ("Ocean of Kabir"), a collection of several Hindi-language volumes devoted to the teachings of Guru Kabir and Sant Dharam Das. Read the Anurag Sagar Online, and enjoy many more satsang talks based on this spiritual classic -- GO TO: http://www.SpiritualAwakeningRadio.com/anurag.html
Some Thoughts About the Origin of the Anurag Sagar (Ocean of Love)
Not sure when the Anurag Sagar first is quoted by someone in India, which would give scholars a clue about a date of composition. Knowledge about who wrote it has become lost, perhaps even in the Kabir Panth world itself. And knowledge about the origins and date of composition has never been known by later Sant Mat paths, and fans of the book reading many centuries later. So, some reading it might just take it all literally, like some do with the Book of Genesis or other older scriptures, one of the many downsides of literalism. The Anurag Sagar is fairly late in composition I suspect, as it sums up the message of Kabir from the perspective of a very well-developed tradition, and one rather informed by other collections of Kabir texts. It reminds me of the 3rd Century C.E. Gnostic Gospel of Pistis Sophia and it's more developed or complex summing up of the meaning and teachings of Christ, and with the clear influence of other, earlier gospel material.
Anurag Sagar (the Ocean of Love) is but one volume of a larger collection known as the Kabir Sagar (Ocean of Kabir) with many more Q and A dialogue catechisms between Kabir (the Master) and Sant Dharam Das (the disciple). The Dharam Dasi Kabir Panth has a vast amount of this Kabir/Dharam Das literature. I suspect that Dharam Das Kabir Panth Gurus wrote under the pen name "Kabir" (or 'channeled' a 'Gnostic Kabir' in some cases perhaps?) over many generations. Only recently, with the publication of the Prakash Mani Gita, did Dharamdasi Gurus begin writing under their own name (Hazur Prakash Mani Naam in that case).
Russell Perkins Writes in His Introduction to the Anurag Sagar Published by Sant Bani Ashram:
"...The alert reader of Swami Ji's Sar Bachan or the books of Sant Kirpal Singh will notice many points of contact. Tulsi Sahib devoted a major portion of one of his principal books to a detailed commentary on certain aspects of the poem. Baba Jaimal Singh considered it to be the most authoritative book on the teachings of the Masters as the following account by his disciple and successor Sawan Singh shows:
"'On the fourth day I went to attend Satsang. Baba Ji [Baba Jaimal Singh] was at that time explaining the meaning of Jap Ji Sahib. Well, I started my volley of questions-so much so that the audience got tired and began to feel restless at the large number of questions I had put... Now he wanted to point out the way, but I had read Vedanta. When I read Gurbani, my opinion was different; when I read Gita my opinion was again different, and I was unable to come to a decision. At last I applied for eight days leave to enable me to study the teachings of Baba Ji. He advised me to read Kabir Sahib's Anurag Sagar. I immediately ordered eight copies of this book from Bombay so that I could also give some to my friends...
"'After several conferences with Baba Ji, I was thoroughly convinced and received initiation from him on the 15th day of October in 1894.'
"That Baba Sawan Singh continued to hold Anurag Sagar in high regard after he became Master is shown by the following account, written by one of his secretaries:
"'Hazur [Baba Sawan Singh] one day told Seth Vasdev, whose car is always at Hazur's disposal, that he should read Kabir Sahib's Anurag Sagar (The Ocean of Intense Love). Hazur said that without studying it, one cannot fully understand the difference between Kal (the negative power) and Dayal Mat (the Path of the true and Merciful God), nor can one fully grasp the teachings of Sant Mat.'" (Rai Sahib Munshi Ram, "With the Three Masters", Vol. 2, p.187) (Introduction to, The Ocean of Love: The Anurag Sagar of Kabir, 1982, Published by Sant Bani Ashram, Sanbornton, New Hampshire, USA)

Northern Thailand offers many great add-on destinations to Chiang Mai

Northern Thailand offers much in the way of culture, ethnic diversity, nature-based activities and rich history. Its largest city Chiang Mai has long been one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, and there is a choice of surrounding provinces that make for great add-on visits.
Bordering Myanmar and Lao PDR. to the west, north and east, the region comprises 17 provinces. Along with Chiang Mai, these are Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Lamphun, Lampang, Phetchabun, Nan, Tak, Uttaradit, Phichit, Phrae, Kamphaeng Phet, Uthai Thani and Phayao.
In line with the ‘Amazing Thailand Go Local’ campaign launched in 2018 by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), these provinces are being promoted as secondary and emerging destinations that can be paired together with the primary destination of Chiang Mai.
The ‘Amazing Thailand Go Local’ campaign is at the forefront of a government policy to better spread the flow of tourists and the distribution of tourism revenue among urban and rural areas, while at the same time to also even out the peak seasonality factor.
These secondary destinations are to have their tourism economies and cultural assets developed and marketed in an environmentally-friendly way and with a mind to sustainability.
Here is a quick look at four of the secondary provinces to add-on to a visit to Chiang Mai:
Chiang Rai
The northernmost province in Thailand, Chiang Rai is blessed with a dramatic landscape of mountains, rivers and forests, an ethnic diversity in its people including the various hilltribes and a strong Lanna identity that can be seen in its architecture, art, language, music and cuisine.

The Doi Tung Royal Villa, which was home to Princess Mother Srinagarindra, and the Mae Fah Luang Garden are set in the mountainous highlands. The Villa is now a museum in honour of the Princess Mother and how she dedicated herself to improving the local people’s livelihood.

Chiang Saen, on the banks of the mighty Mekong River, was a main city of the ancient Lanna Kingdom and chedis, Buddha images, earthen ramparts and pillars can still be seen today. The city is also famed for its views of the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Lao PDR. and Myanmar meet.
Mae Hong Son
The mountainous and largely forested province of Mae Hong Son offers scenic natural beauty and outdoor activities, the fascinating culture of its ethnically diverse people and a captivating rural charm.

The popular Mae Hong Son Loop touring route can be done by rented car or motorbike. A journey of some 600 km that starts and finishes in Chiang Mai, this takes in places like Mae Chaem on Thailand’s highest mountain Doi Inthanon, the riverside town of Mae Sariang and the town of Pai with its chilled-out new-age, backpacker scene and activities like rafting, tubing, trekking and cycling.

Lamphun
Founded in the 7th century by Queen Chamathewi, Lamphun is one of Thailand’s oldest cities and boasts an impressive history. It was the capital of the Hariphunchai Kingdom and the northernmost city of the Mon Kingdom of the Dvaravati period.

Lamphun town is just a 30–40 minute drive from Chiang Mai city. In terms of national parks, the province has three — Mae Takhrai National Park, Mae Ping National Park and Doi Khun Tan National Park, which is home to Thailand’s longest railway tunnel.

Lamphun province is a major producer of the small round fruit longan (Lamyai in Thai) and around August it stages an annual longan festival.
Lampang
Steeped in Northern Thailand’s history and culture, Lampang was for some years home to the revered Emerald Buddha that is now in the Grand Palace in Bangkok. It is a city of unique sites including what is probably one of Thailand’s oldest wooden structures, and what many consider Northern Thailand’s most impressive temple. It’s also one of very few cities in the kingdom where tourists can visit sites on horse carts.

A unique way to visit the sites in town is on an open-air horse-drawn carriage unique to Lampang. Walking through the old city is also a favourite for energetic tourists. Stops can include the 100-plus-year-old teak City Pillar Shrine and at the buildings and grounds of Ban Sao Nak.
Lampang is also home to the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre, which aims to conserve Thai elephants and promote ecotourism. This includes caring for sick and injured pachyderms. Visitors can watch elephant demonstrations, elephant river bathing and feeding. Exhibits are a good introduction to the history and cultural significance of the Thai elephant.

Phrae
Phrae traces its history back to the Hariphunchai Kingdom of the Mon and was once one of Thailand’s largest centres of the teak trade. In the old town area of the provincial seat are historic buildings and locations that are testimony to these former glory days, while the province still boasts among the country’s largest teak forest reserves.

The village of Ban Thung Hong is renowned for its products made from Mo Ham, a local indigo-dyed cotton fabric. While traditionally the fabric was used for farmers’ pants and tunics, the village also offers lovely handmade clothing.
An intriguing natural attraction is Phae Mueang Phi Forest Park, where 2 million years of erosion has created curious red sandstone rock formations.

Nan
Nan prides itself on nature, and in 2018, received commendation from His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun as the №1 ASEAN Clean Tourist City. The recognition followed Nan being awarded the No .1 ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard 2018–2020 at the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2018 earlier in that year.

Lying 700 kilometres north of Bangkok, much of the province is wilderness, and the remainder is rural focusing on rice and fruit cultivation. There are also cultural and historical sights worth visiting.
Nan town is quaint and the capital of the province of the same name. It has little more than 20,000 people making it a rather small provincial capital. It is an old city, though, dating back to the 14th century when the first known community settled on the banks of the Nan River.

For foreign and Thai travellers alike who are keen to explore more of Northern Thailand, inter-provincial bus services, self-drive car hire and flights allow for the linking of one or more of the secondary destinations with Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai International Airport and Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport are among the six international gateway airports in Thailand, and are served by domestic and regional flights.

Rudra abhishek pooja -In Hinduism, each day of the week is dedicated to a particular deity or god – likewise, Monday is worshipped in honour of Lord Shiva. Shravan month is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and devotees who observe the Somvar Vrat during the Shravan (Sawan) maas known as Shravan Somwar or Sawan Somwar Vrats are said to have all their wishes fulfilled. Shravan 2017 began on July 10 will continue till August 7 for North Indian states who follow Purnimant calendar. While it starts from July 24 and lasts until August 21 for South Indian states, who follow Amavasyant calendar. Many Lord Shiva devotees also observe the holy Solah Somvar Vrat or fast on sixteen Mondays starting from first Somwar of Sawan month. It is said that Lord Shiva is easily pleased. Devotees especially unmarried women longing for perfect husband must follow Shravan Somwar Vrat Vidhi while observing the fast for Lord Shiva. Shravan 2017: Important Dates, Time & Significance of This Holy Month Dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Shravan Somwar Vrat or Monday fasting during Shravan is kept in honour of Lord Shiva – the God of Destruction and Transformation. One of the principal deities in Hinduism, he is known by several names and avatars. Devotees worship Lord Shiva as the Supreme Being to Mahadeva to Adiyogi Shiva to being within the Hindu trinity along with Brahma and Vishnu. It is widely believed that if Lord Shiva does not discriminate and quickly grants wishes to anyone seeking his blessings with a pure heart. Leading an ascetic life, Shiva or Mahadev is above materialism and easily gets pleased with simple offerings and puja vidhi. Here are simple fasting rules or Shravan Somwar Vrat Vidhi every Lord Shiva devotee must follow while observing the holy fast. Sawan Month 2017: Significance of Shravan Mondays And Interesting Facts on Why People Observe Fast.
We also do Udaka shanti pooja.
Shravan Somwar Vrat Vidhi for Lord Shiva
Shravan Somwar Vrat or Monday fast begins with the worshipper waking up early morning. After taking a holy bath and individuals observing fast should wear white colour. It is highly beneficial if the person can visit Lord Shiva temple in the morning and the evening while keeping Somvar Vrat. In case, visiting the temple is not possible, offer prayers to Mahadev at home.(Udaka shanti pooja)
Begin the puja with Abhishekam, meaning ‘to have bath’. It could be as simple as Jal Abhishek, which is pouring water on the Shiva lingam or Shivling. When Abhishekam is offered to Lord Shiva, it is called Rudra Abhishek. Doing Panchamrut or Panchamrit or Charnamrit Abhishek is also an excellent way to please Mahadeva. Panchamrut is prepared by mixing – Milk, Curd, Ghee (clarified butter), Honey and Sugar. The devotees can put a tilak of sandalwood paste on the Shivalingam and avoid using kumkum tilak (vermillion) for the shivling.
When pouring milk on the shivling as an offering, do make sure that it is not pasteurized or packet milk. Please make sure always to use ice cold milk. Also never offer coconut water to the Shiva Lingam. One may instead offer coconuts as Prasadam or prasad. White flowers are to be offered to Lord Shiva and on Shivaling but do not place champa (Plumeria) and kewda flower as they are said to be cursed by Lord Shiva. Tulsi patta (Basil leaves) must never be placed on Shiva Lingam. Bael leaves, or Bila Patra are believed to be Mahadeva’s favourite, hence always offer it.
In the evening a story related to Somavar Vrat is listened to or read by those observing the fast. There are many stories or Somvar Vrat Katha such as the story of a poor Brahmin gaining wealth due to Somvar Vrat. The second story is of a wealthy merchant begetting a son after long wait, and the subsequent death of the son and his rebirth due to the grace of Lord Shiva and Parvati due to Monday fasting. The third story and the most popular legend involves the game of dice played between Lord Shiva and Parvati.
Five is the sacred number of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva’s body consists of five mantras which are called ‘Panchabramans’. These are – Sadyojata, Vamadeva, Aghora, Tatpurusa and Isana. Devotees should chant Lord Shiva mantras such as – “Om Namah Shivaya”, “Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti-Vardhanam, Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityormukshiya Mamritat॥“, ”Om Tatpurushaya Vidmahe Mahadevaya Dhimahi, Tanno Rudrah Prachodayat॥“, “Om Namo Bhagwate Rudraay”.
Those observing Shravan Somwar Vrat can consume a single meal on the day after midday. Those observing partial Monday fast take fruits or Sabudana Khichadi. It is believed that the devotees should never consume what they have offered to the shivling as it brings bad omen, which may lead to loss of health and wealth.

Kalganna (Period computation) in India’s history Microscopic study of planetary motions in the tradition of India and Kalganna had been based on the speed of earth, moon, sun. The speed gap between the moon and the sun has been arranged by more month. In short, the different units of time and their reasons set forth as follows-
Day or Seven day: Earth moves 1600 km per hour speed on its axis, to complete of the cycle it takes 24 hours. 12 hours, which part of the Earth facing the sun is said day and who stays behind it said night. Thus, 12 hours earth’s early and 12 hours earth’s facing the sun. Thus 1 Ahoratr has 24 hora. It is like that English word Hour has taken from word Hora. Sawan day called as Earth day.
Solar Day: Earth orbiting around sun with the spedd of 1 million km per hour. 10 trends of the earth is called the solar day.
Lunar day or Date: Lunar day called as day. As Ekm, Chaturthi, Ekadashi, full moon, new moon and so on. While orbiting the earth moon 12 degree trend said to be 1 day.
Week: In the universe day of the week and order in accordance with the order which was discovered in India. India progressively depending on the distance from the Earth to determine the order of the planets, namely Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury and Moon. In which the moon is closest to Earth and Saturn is the most distant of these. In this planets are Overlord for one day or 24 hours or Hora. Therefore, the seven planets in order are Overlord for hour, the cycle lasts for 24 hours as it passed overlord of the planet will be the first hour of the next day and the day was named in his name. Universe were created from the sun, so the first day Sunday was named as a top over the other planets in the order.
We instinctively understand the sequence of the seven days by following table-
Paksh: 12 portions of the Moon to orbit the Earth to is called a date. New Moon, the Earth and the moon is between the sun. It said to be 0 (degrees). When moon going from 12 degrees to 180 degrees from the sun then it is called as full moon. Thus, the paksh from Ekam to full moon called as Shukl Paksh and and Ekam to new moon called as Krishna Paksha.
Month: For Kalgnna 27 constellation are considered (1) Ashwini (2) Bharani (3) Krittika (4) Rohini (5) Mrigshira (6) Ardra (7) Punarvasu (8) Pushya (9) Ashlesha (10) Magha (11) Purv falgun (12) Uttar falgun (13) Hast (14) Chitra (15) Swati (16) Vishakha (17) Anuradha (18) Jyeshtha (1 9) Mool (20) Purwashadh (21) Uttrashadh (22) Shravna (23) Dhanishta (24) Shatbhishak (25) Purv Bhadrapad (26) Uttar Bhadrapad (27) Revti.
The 27 constellation divided into four parts. Thus, a total of 108 parts. Nine of these parts shape have been named to the 12 zodiac signs, which are:
(1) Aries (2) Taurus (3) Gemini (4) Cancer (5) Leo (6) Virgo (7) Libra (8) Scorpio (9) Sagittarius (10) Capricorn (11) Aquarius (12) Pisces. The lines of this zodiac is fixed on earth, which is called Kranti. These Krantis are considered from equinoctial line 24 north and 24 south. Thus the sun in orbit comes in Zodiac cruises comes in the name of the Kranti is the solar mass. It usually is devoid of growth and decay.
Lunar Month: The constellation visible throughout evening and morning and moon appear up to perfection, the name of the lunar month depends on that constellation (1) Chitra 2) Vishakha (3) Jyeshtha (4) Ashadha (5) Shravan (6) Bhadrapad (7) Ashwini (8) Krittika (9) Mrigshira (10) Pushya (11) Magha (12) Falguni. So on that basis Chaitra, Vaishakh, Jyeshth, Aashaadh, Shravan, Bhadrapad, Ashwini, Krittika, Margashirsha, Paush, Magha and Phalguna are the name of Lunar month.
Uttarayan and Dakshinayan: Earth is tilted 23 degree in its orbit at the northwestern part. So from the equator 23 degrees north and south of the sun’s rays fall perpendicularly. Sun rays fall perpendicularly called as Sankranti. In which 23 degrees north called as Tropic of Cancer and south is called as Tropic of Capricorn. Equator is called as 00 or equinoctial line. In which Kark Sankranti called as Uttarayan and Makar Sankranti is call as Dakshinayan.
Year measurement: Earth revolves 166000000 km long path around the Sun with a speed of nearly a million kilometers per hour. It takes 365 days to complete this long path. This period was considered to be the year.
Era measurement: In 432000 years seven planets comes in one place. The combination of this period is stated as Kali Yuga. The two conjunction Dwapara, three combination Treta and the four combination is said to be Satyuga. In Chaturyugi seven planets are in the same direction.
From Indian calculations the beginning of the Kali Yuga starts 3102 years before the birth of Christ on February 20 at 2 pm was 27 minutes and 30 seconds. At that time all the planets were in the same zodiac. In this context, Europe’s famous astronomer Bailey visible statement is- “According to Hindu astronomical calculation of the present world, the beginning of the Kali Yuga starts 3102 years before the birth of Christ on February 20 at 2 pm was 27 minutes and 30 seconds. Thus this Kalgnna done upto minutes and seconds. Further, Hindu says at Kali Yuga time, all the planets were in the same line or their Almanac tables shows the same. Calculations done by Brahmin fully confirms our astronomical tables. The reason no one else but this is due to the same outcome by direct observation of planets . (Theogony OF Hindus, B Bjornstjerna page number 32)
According to Vedic Rishis the current world is order of five system . Lunar System, Earth system, Solar system, Galaxy and Swaymbhu system. These are progressively orbiting system.
Manvantar measurement: When solar system complete one orbit of galaxy then that period is called as Manvantar measurement. Its measurement is 306 720 000 years. The distance between two Manvantar is equal to 1 Sandhyansh Satyug. Hence Sandhyansh including manvantra measurement is 30 Crore 84 Lakh 48 thousand years. According to modern values sun complete one orbit cycle of milky way in 250 to 270 million years.
Eon: Galaxy orbitting aroung Swaymbhu mandal or system. It means the galaxy orbitting over his galaxy. This period was called the Eon. This is a measurement 4 Billion 320 Million years. It was a day of Brahma. The big day, the big night, so the Ahoratra of Brahma is 8.64 Billion years. One year of Brahma is 3.1 Trillion 10 billion 400 Million years 100 years of Brahma or age of universe is 31 Neil 1 Trillion 40 billion years
By seeing the calculation of the known universe of Indian wisdom, Europe scientist Carl Sagan wrote in his book “Cosmos” that “Hinduism is the only religion in the world which is dedicated to the belief that the universe originated in a continuous and ongoing process of decay and that is a religion, which range from subtle to huge time measurement, from the normal day-night to 1 Bramha day of 8 billion 640 Million years is calculated, which incidentally is close to modern astronomical measurements. This calculation is greater than the age of Earth and Sun and they has longer measurement than that.” Carl Sagan called it a coincidence but it is based on solid planetary calculations. Thank you for reading this article. Please do not forget to follow me because next topic is Western and Indian Time Calculation difference that is Ancient Astrology.
