I just recently got Fedor von Bock's War Diary and I decided to just give drawing people another go. Doing this is think I realised I have no real method and just add things here there and everywhere until something comes together. I think I spent maybe 6 or 7 hours across a whole week with this because any time I was happy with it I then wasn't because I thought it wasn't as close as I could get it. So I think I've got about 11 different versions with very slight or big differences.
Another thing I learned drawing this is that my best drawings are in black and white for some reason.
Tumblr media
It's still not the best drawing out there but I'm happy with it, I only ever did art in high-school and I've not taken it further academically (I have had a debate on taking an art history course at uni though). So it's just a hobby. Anyway, I hope it does hold a resemblance.
Again another thanks to @masha-nikita for inspiring this one. I was aware of Fedi beforehand but now I've gotten another fixation on another German Generalfeldmarschall. I don't know if I'd have been aware of his diary if you hadn't said and I'm enjoying reading it so far, I do love old books and old war books that would be primary sources are even better.

The article "Foreign Weapons at the Nazi’s 'Atlantic Wall'" by Tom Laemlein, published on The Armory Life, provides an in-depth look at the extensive use of captured foreign weaponry by German forces during the defense of the Atlantic Wall in World War II. Severe manpower and industrial shortages prompted the German military to employ a wide array of guns from across Europe, including French, Czech, British, Polish, and Russian weapons. This diverse arsenal included notable firearms such as the French MAS-36 rifle, the Czech ZB vz. 26 machine gun, British Vickers and Bren guns, and the Polish CKM wz. 30 machine gun. Additionally, the article highlights the strategic movement of Red Army conscripts, known as "Ostruppen," who were coerced into fighting for Germany, bringing with them Soviet small arms like the DP-27 and the SVT-40. The capture and utilization of these varied weapons underscore the desperate measures taken by the Germans as they faced overwhelming Allied forces during the pivotal Normandy invasion, ultimately contributing to the Allies' breaching of the Atlantic Wall and the subsequent fall of the Third Reich.

REVIEW: The Last Battle (2013)
REVIEW: The Last Battle (2013)
A Book by Stephen Harding I first heard about The Battle of Castle Itter, the story that inspired The Last Battle, via a podcast called Lions Lead by Donkeys, and was utterly amazed that 1) I had never heard of this peculiar chapter of World War II history and 2) considering what happened, this has not as of yet been made into a movie of any kind. For those unaware, this is the only recorded…

intro, I guess?
hii! I figured I should make a post like this even though I have a feeling it will be like super messy xD
I've had an interest in history, specifically World War II basically since I was a kid. It was only recently though that I found out that there's a community for it! I've always had a thing with expressing my interests in ways that may seem slightly odd to other people, so it feels nice to see that there are others who seem to experience this in similar ways :3
I want to make it very clear that I am NOT a nazi or rightwing in any way, and I don't want actual (neo-)nazis to interact with my blog, get the fuck out! Similarly, I don't want racists, lgbtq-phobes, ableists, religious extremists, pedos & zoos or people of similarly disgusting kind to interact! I'm literally queer and neurodivergent (undiagnosed/suspected bc getting a therapy place is hard :/), this is not a place for you!
+++
I've been a fan of the Downfall parodies on youtube when I was younger and recently relapsed into this fixation😭 I don't know if this fandom even really exists at this point since it seems that many creators have left in the meantime, but I'd love to talk about it, maybe I'll even get to write fanfics at some point. Also a short disclaimer that when I talk about historical figures that play a major role in the Downfall parody universe (such as Fegelein, Krebs, Burgdorf etc), it will usually be about their parody selves, not the real people! I'll try to clarify that individually if needed though.
I've also started lurking a little in the reichblr tag with a feeling that I'd describe as "indimidated fascination". Currently I'm mostly interested in some members of the Wehrmacht, but other historical figures that I had or have an interest in might come up as well. Overall any stuff that I post will probably go more into the lighthearted and humorous direction, but I'd love to bring in some more educational stuff as well.
My inbox is always open if you want to gush or ramble about your favourite historical figures or Downfall characters (both from the parodies and the movie itself) and such! Please talk to me about our shared faves😭🫶
+++
I get crushes on fictional characters and sometimes historical figures too, but that doesn't mean I support, condone or defend their worldviews or actions in any way (this applies especially to real people of course)! These "crushes" usually stem from a place of fascination with who they were behind their public appearance, I want to know more about them as a private person, like their hobbies, favourite food and other mundane things like that. Often it's also simply that I feel physically attracted to their appearance because I think they're handsome, either that or they give me massive gender envy (or both lmao). I don't really control on who I fixate like that, it just happens, but I hope that this will be a place for me to express those feelings in some way and find like-minded people. Though I also want to point out that not all my fixations are automatically also crushes! Usually I will mention whether they are or not, or you'll probably notice based on what kind of posts I make about them lol.
Current main historical fixations:
Erwin Rommel (I can't help it I just think he's cute ._.)
Fritz Bayerlein (he's the dude in my pfp lol, there's barely info about him but idk I just think he's kinda interesting😭 also yes he was actually bi)
Current main Downfall fixations:
Hans Krebs & Wilhelm Burgdorf (the otp ever)
Wilhelm Mohnke (ngl Downfall!Mohnke is kinda fine❤️‍🔥 ... idk maybe I'm just finding the actor hot though😭)
+++
If I encounter things that make me uncomfortable I follow common fandom courtesy and block tags or blogs accordingly. This is nothing personal, I'm just curating my own online space. I don't want to see any harassment here, neither towards myself nor to others!
Anyway I guess that's it for now? Idk if this is any good as an intro post but for now it'll have to do I guess😂 I'm generally not really sure yet in which direction to go with this blog (should it be more Downfall or reichblr focused? is there a lot of overlap between the fandoms? do they even get along? help😭). I also don't know how active I'll be in general, I'm also constantly jumping between thoughts like "yee this is gonna be fun" and "dafuq am I doing here I should feel ashamed about myself" but I hope to meet people who share my interests :3

wait ok so gale got one of his scars cause of sanchez?
Ok. Here we go into Marina’s poorly thought out, hypothetical and fraying plotline acid dreams, vague and unsettled headcanon territory. Welcome, it’s sorta weird here—
Tumblr media
This is legit all I got… Sanchez is a fighter pilot from the Aztec Eagles Fighter Squadron, a group of Mexican pilots who fought alongside the United States during World War II. These pilots, trained by the United States military, were the only Mexican squadron to see combat in World War II. They flew their missions in early 1945 but i like variety, showcasing how diverse this world war was and keeping my women mixed in a probable way. We’ve got women in a stalag? -one can be a Mexican fighter pilot, sue me.
I imagine she was one of the earlier women downed, before many of the bombers had been, she was also solitary as a fighter, didn’t have a whole crew to rejoin with. Before long she’s piled into a truck with other allied airmen. One Gale Cleven crashed through a family’s kitchen, about snapped his back and got a pitchfork to the chest. He’s kind but he’s cautious, as he should be.
Somewhere along the way before getting to the Luftwaffe holding places, things got hairy. Drawing from resistance sources rather than Air Force testimony -as female integration wasn’t a thing, I’m using the next best comparisons- the gestapo and the SS and even on some occasions the Wehrmacht, would use violence against women to break men who otherwise wouldn’t talk under similar duress.
He gets his scar somewhere in here.
After such a mutual horror show I imagine a few things:
One, neither is exactly seeking each others company out after this, awks.
Two, Gale Cleven is confronted with the realisation this is probably happening to all his girls, and that sits doubly hard as a gentleman and an officer
Three, he’s not likely to forget the taunts, the implications, the snide comments about their doubt that he too was a woman, pretty enough for it, and since Americans were so depraved as to send off their weaker vessels to be slaughtered, what’s the difference? Between an American man and an American woman? They want equality right? The Germans can make them equal, they’d be happy to.
Four, Gale got those scars trying to save her, and it’s not like Sanchez thinks she owes him one or is somehow guilty for it, but what she saw him go through was uncomfortable enough she isn’t sure she knows what to say about how he got them. How much is too much? How much is vindication verses how much is damning?She just keeps mum and she’s traumatized in her own way, already uncomfortable as a woman, this whole abuse further exacerbates that feeling and her perspective on others.

THE FASHION CHOICES OF A "PSYCHEDELIC BIKER" -- A LOOK AT HARD ROCK STYLES OF YORE.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on a handful of former fashion style items belonging to Billy Duffy, musician/lead guitarist for English gothic rock/hard rock band THE CULT, c. mid 1980s.
"CLASH" BOOTS: "These Santa Rosa motorcycle boots were my first ever pair of "real" "Clash" boots. I think I bought them in 1984 on The Cult's first U.S. tour but I do remember that I had to take a taxi to get to the store which was on Santa Monica Boulevard in West LA. It was around that time that I was developing my psychedelic biker look with the paisley shirt, beads and motorcycle belt buckles. But they're probably most notable for being "the" boots from the opening sequence of "Love Removal Machine" video!"
BELT BUCKLE: "I picked up this Harley-Davidson belt buckle at the same time as I bought my "Clash" Motorcycle Boots from the store in Santa Monica Boulevard in West LA. Along with the 'Triumph' one it became part of my psychedelic biker look and was worn often onstage in the 1980s and likely to be seen in several videos and photo shoots." -- BILLY DUFFY, c. February 2016
IRON CROSS: Billy's original German Army WWII 'Iron Cross' that featured extensively in the photoshoot's for the "Love" album. “Around 1982 I worked on a stall in Kensington Market, London that sold vintage military clothing and memorabilia and I picked up this old German medal there. I’d always had an interest in war history, as does Ian, but I started wearing the Iron Cross in The Cult because I was influenced by the look of the Asheton Brothers on the sleeve of the classic debut album from The Stooges. It was part of my psychedelic biker look that also included hippy beads with a peace sign, the Triumph Motorcycle belt buckle, leather pants and the paisley shirts.”
All items featured in THE BILLY DUFFY COLLECTION Auction on 25th October 2019.
