(DECEMBER 2, 2023 / NYP) Pro-Palestinian groups such as those who spread hate at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting this week, have been lavishly funded by the Rockefeller family’s main charitable arm.
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund has links to two groups the Israeli government designated “terrorist organizations,” a review of public records by The Post shows.
Founded in 1940, the famous clan’s $1.3 billion fund — where Justin, Wyatt and David Rockefeller Jr. sit on the board of trustees — has shelled out more than $2.6 million since 2018 directly or indirectly to at least six anti-Israel organizations, several of which openly celebrated Hamas’ Oct. 7 terrorist attack on the Jewish state.
Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, whose logo was affixed to an ad promoting Wednesday’s rally, is a “fiscally sponsored project” of the nonprofit Alliance for Global Justice.
In August 2022, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund gave the Alliance $100,000.
Israel designated Samidoun a terrorist organization in February 2021 and Germany banned it last month.
Samidoun, founded in 2011, condemned the United Kingdom in 2021 for classifying Hamas a terrorist organization, and cheered the Oct. 7 terrorist incursion:
“The resistance is rising throughout occupied Palestine . . . confronting the occupier by land and air, taking control of Palestinian land, seizing occupation settlers and soldiers and launching thousands of missiles as Palestinian resistance forces fight to advance return and the liberation of Palestine,” Samidoun said on the day Hamas terrorists massacred more than 1,200 Israeli civilians.
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund has awarded at least $215,000 to Defence For Children International-Palestine, according to their website and IRS tax forms.
The Israeli government declared the group a terrorist organization in October 2021.
Undeterred, the fund issued a new $50,000 grant to the organization in 2022.
“This is unfortunately a case of reaping what one sows. They were probably fine with these rabid, lefty groups, protesting other people,” said City Councilman Joe Borelli (R-Staten Island). “The lesson we all can take from this is that the woke left isn’t our friend.”
The fund gave at least $490,000 for “general support” to the Jewish Voice for Peace, according to public grant disclosures on their website since 2019.
Despite its name, the group is a notorious anti-Israel organization and a front for mainstreaming antisemitic ideas, critics say.
A Grand Central demonstration organized by the group in October led to more than 300 arrests.
“Jewish Voice for Peace is a radical anti-Israel and anti-Zionist activist group that advocates for the boycott of Israel and eradication of Zionism. JVP does not represent the mainstream Jewish community, which it views as bigoted for its association with Israel,” according to the Anti-Defamation League.
The group has been banned by Columbia University for repeatedly holding “threatening” campus events, the school said last month.
The fund has also donated at least $515,000 to the The Tides Center, earmarked specifically to support Palestine Legal, a pro-Palestinian advocacy group, records show. The nonprofit trumpeted the Oct. 7 attacks as “one of the most significant acts of Palestinian resistance.”
“There is no equivalence – moral or otherwise – between Israel’s nearly eight decades of ceaseless colonial violence, and the resistance that it has engendered,” Palestine Legal said on Oct. 10.
“It’s the height of irony that the Rockefeller Foundation supports the anti-Israel, Soros-funded Tides Foundation and many other antisemitic Israel-bashing groups, that are now holding ugly, disgusting, vile Jew-hating displays at the Christmas Tree event at the Rockefeller Center,” said Mort Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America. “Just desserts I say.”
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund also sent at least $710,000 to the Adalah Justice Project and $605,000 to the Middle East Policy Network (also known as Al-Shabaka).
Both organizations celebrated Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks in public statements.
The fund defended the grants and noted that it donated to more mainstream Israel groups as well, such as J-Street and the The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute.
“We categorically reject any claim that our grantee organizations support, materially or ideologically, acts of terrorism,” said spokeswoman Sarah Edkins “Advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion for people of all races, ethnicities, and genders is critical to our mission, and RBF is deeply concerned about indications of growing antisemitism.”
Edkins added, “The Fund’s only relationship with Alliance for Global Justice is as the fiscal sponsor for one grantee of our Sustainable Development program, South Bronx Unite.”

Forest Hill Historic District
Brewster Road and Henley Road
Cleveland Heights , OH
Roughly bounded by Glynn Rd., Northdale Boulevard and Cleviden Rd., Mt. Vernon Boulevard and Wyatt Rd., and Lee Boulevard, Forest Hill is a historic neighborhood spanning parts of Cleveland Heights and East Cleveland, Ohio, and is bordered to the north by Glynn Road, the south by Mayfield Road, by Lee Boulevard to the west and North Taylor Road to the east. Forest Hill was once the beloved summer home of oil magnate John D. Rockefeller and his family.  John D. Rockefeller Jr. purchased the estate from his father in 1923 and, with New York City architect Andrew J. Thomas, planned an upscale residential and commercial development featuring distinctive French Norman style architecture. Although the Great Depression forced Rockefeller to suspend operations, following World War II others were drawn to Forest Hill to build comfortable colonial and contemporary ranch homes on the remaining open land. Design principles of the Rockefeller-Thomas plan were extended to the later development and today Forest Hill is a rich tapestry of people, homes and gardens.
The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archeological resources. The Forest Hill neighborhood  with its Rockefeller homes was listed with the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district on August 14, 1986.  Following this resident-led initiative, the Forest Hill Historic Preservation Society was formed in 1987. Forest Hills Home Owners association has been a friend and partner to the Forest Hill Historic Preservation Society for thirty years and is happy to support them on their current endeavor to have the entire community of Forest Hill listed with the National Register of Historic Places.

SETTLERS - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: IFC Midnight
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: On a remote homestead amongst the Martian frontier, a refugee family from Earth clings to hope for a better life. But when strangers appear in the surrounding hills and attempt to run them off, nine-year-old Remmy is faced with the desperate reality her mother and father have tried so hard to keep from her.
REVIEW: SETTLERS is a hybrid of a science fiction movie with classic western plot devices. There are very few original films that did it well, and only “Outland (‘’81),” “Prospect (‘18)” and “Silent Running (‘72)” realized their goals in blending both genres successfully. For all the tech and hardware, a good science fiction film allows the viewer to examine the human condition in a new light. SETTLERS is one of those films.
Wyatt Rockefeller’s screenplay is a complex character driven narrative. He does an excellent job of introducing each one and slowly peels back their layers so we come to know them, understand them. They are an unlikely group who are brought together for a simple reason, but the frightening larger consequences he hints at, leaving our imagination to dwell on it. At the core of the story is Remmy, a child who has never known earth and is raised on stories about the home planet of her parents. Even though she has been raised in this harsh environment she still has a child’s sense of curiosity and wonder. The adults in the tale are presented as desperate survivors. However, the character of Jerry holds the knowledge and expertise to possibly this lost homestead. This small island of hope is housed under a dome that keeps it secluded from the rest of the planet. Given the heaviness of the story, Rockefeller injects a bit of comic relief with the inclusion of a simple robot that is capable of presenting a limited, but effective, range of emotions.
As the viewer watches this tragedy unfold you can’t help but feel the connection to several issues we are facing today. They run the gambit of social, political, and environmental. Much like a child, Rockefeller never tips his hand to give us any explanation as to why some of the adults do what they do. What he does offer only feels like it is scratching the surface. There are many elephants in this story. The filmmaker offers the viewer little emotional release. Even the film’s ending is optimistic, but given things we’ve heard in the story it is certainly not hopeful. There are elements of the story that feel reminiscent of the 1961 “The Twilight Zone” episode “Two,” which was written and directed by Montgomery Pittman, starring Charles Bronson and Elizabeth Montgomery. For it being his first feature film, Rockefeller shows he has the talent to have worked alongside any of the writers of that classic series.
Rockefeller and his collaborators did an excellent job of creating the indoor and outdoor environments, and the rest of the area under this dome. You believe they are on mars. Granted they are in a desert, but there were no signs of any other life, except for the plants, in this landscape. I enjoyed the camera work and the editing, especially when it came to taking the viewer from a distant point and slowly brought us into the scene. The location and set dressing looked authentic to a you think an intergalactic settlement might look. They did an amazing job of setting the stage and creating the atmosphere, which they sustain throughout, so the viewer maintains their engagement in the drama.
I loved the performances. Young actress Brooklynn Prince has moments where she is delightful and powerful as she goes through this emotional character arch. All through her struggles she maintains an element of innocence that feels so organic. Actor Ismael Cruz Córdova is a powerhouse of emotions and intensity. You feel that he has a modicum of happiness in moments but there is this lingering tension and anxiety brewing just below the surface. You feel his sincerity of trying to make something good from the situation he is in. Sofia Boutella delivers this heart wrenching performance of a mother being torn apart by these conflicting emotions, rendering many of the character’s actions surprising, shocking, but never something we feel is outside the character’s motivations.
Subtly adding to the film’s complex emotional palette and the atmosphere is a great score by Nitin Sawhney. It is not a constant score throughout, but is nicely woven into the film.
Wyatt Rockefeller’s feature film debut SETTLERS is an impressive orchestration of story, visuals and performances. It is a compelling story that nicely blends the science fiction elements with the tragedy to create a timeless character study of survival in a harsh environment. With Mars looming as the potential new frontier, regardless of all our technical advances Rockefeller’s film presents a cautionary tale of what could happen if we fail to update the human condition before we venture forth. I am totally excited to she what he does with his next film.

Settlers https://bit.ly/3JOeGgh Settlers is a sci-fi film so far away from what people usually term sci-fi that it barely qualifies. In fact it opens looking like a western – big craggy mountains in a dusty landscape – and then plays out like a wildlife documentary. The sort of wildlife documentary where a new male lion arrives on … Read more
