The Lung View

In 1971, Wimbledon in London became home to an imaging revolution – the world’s first CT scan on a patient. CT scans are now commonplace, creating 3D images of organs by capturing multiple X-ray images from different angles. This makes imaging moving organs difficult. In mouse studies of lung disease, researchers have overcome this using retrospective gating (RG), capturing more images of the lungs and grouping them into breathing phases, each reconstructed separately – this takes longer. The organ’s function has been measured using another technique – X-ray-based lung function measurement (XLF). Now, a new faster technique has been developed, RG-based XLF, which measures lung anatomy and function simultaneously. Testing it in healthy and mdx mice, which model Duchenne muscular dystrophy, proved successful. Function and anatomy data (pictured) were captured in just 34 seconds. For example, the abnormal shape and position of the diaphragm in mdx mice (right) was identified when compared with healthy lungs (left).

Nike Canary

Like FedEx, Nike just flashed another warning for equities.

Note that the warning concerns the November 13th area. FDX filled it. NKE didn't, but may do so soon. Why?

Because these two blue chips represent the S&P 500, and if the S&P 500 were to mimic this behavior, it would target the 4400 area.

Doing so would surely drag NKE with it...and many other stocks with gaps at the November 13th area.

Here's a few random ideas:

AAPL, TSLA, JPM, BAC, TEAM...

Far more interesting is that the pattern is not confined to any one sector, thus lending cred to the idea that yes, in the age of central banking largesse, markets are just liquidity gauges.

In other words, the November 13th gap is everywhere.

XME, EEM, KRE, KBE, XHB, XRT, XLV, XLB, XLY, XLK, XLF, XLRE, XLI

This matters because if price returns to the November 13th area, it would call into question all those wildly bullish wave counts promising a continued blast off into the thin air of 2024.

It would suggest something else is going on.

My bet remains the "something else" is an Elliott B-wave.

What could follow might be scary and utterly unexpected.
