Kaitlin & Jean-Luc in their 2nd season together, 17/20 yo, when they won every event except for a silver at JGPF - these are their Junior Worlds 🥇skates - they were so so good 😭 they’re so musical, look light and easy in hold, and already in such unison, their one foot is better as juniors than some senior teams, and they're skating with abandon

she was very emotional and open back then - look how she reacts at the end of their FD - hate to think how she was hurt over the years

of the 28 teams who competed at junior worlds in 2014, Kaitlin and Jean Luc are the ONLY team still competing. longevity like that takes such love and commitment and drive, you have to be well matched, you have to be good and produce results, and you have to have some luck - that you're recognized and have resources, that politically things line up well enough (even if in their case it's never been what they deserved), that you stay healthy, which they unfortunately haven't, recently

there are a few skaters still around from that competition, if not teams -- both Olivia and Tim were there with former partners, as were Michael Parsons, Romain LeGac and Lorraine McNamara. the other two teams on the podium split not long after

They were making jokes about it the whole time. They just had to hide it better than rosquez did.

If Vale said 'Marc was great today at the race' someone made a blowjob gesture and they were cracking up. If Marc was in visuable discomfort to sit, they had to bite their cheeks not to start giggling or someone had to come up with an unrelated joke so they could laugh without being suspicious. If they randomly disappear they joked that Marc was fucking Vale on and now off track (that one was from Alex cause the boys would never admit that their boss was getting beaten)

The only thing that could stop them was the divorce Cele. Cause he's baby. They can't make sex jokes in front of a baby. Marc must have gotten some sign of defrosting from Vale istg because in his documentary he was fully prepared to go I don't give a fuck anymore. And he had full vontrol over his doc

But now in the dazn interview he goes like... well its up to him because the door of reconciliation is open

lobs a nuance grenade SORRY... so this IS kind of aligned with how he's acted/talked about valentino since the divorce with the notable exception of that doc (and misano 2019 lol) which is a setting where he had complete authorial control. like it makes sense to me that he's making an effort to avoid any potential negative soundbites to get slapped on headlines (and. well. consistently saying vale is the angry one DOES make vale seem more unreasonable here. marc's like IM not mad UR the one being crazy...), but i ALSO think he keeps it positive because rehashing it HURTS. like i think he will only let out how painful the whole thing was for him in a situation where no one can possibly ask him any follow up because it would literally feel like open heart surgery.

it is also notable to me is how vale and marc's strategies in avoiding those kinds of soundbites are SUPER different... like when he's asked about marc in interviews now, usually valentino always gives a vague compliment about marc's riding style and then immediately changes the subject. MARC on the other hand, has an entirely different game plan that tbqh i think kind of runs away from him sometimes. like he always starts with. 1. he was my hero and my idol and is so charismatic and i wanted to fuck him so bad. 2.
