1. So you admit that DnD books are overpriced? Because if they weren't wildly overpriced you wouldn't be pirating them. Choosing between having to find free versions of the pdf or buying overpriced books should not be something people are forced to do at the very start. Wizards being greedy hogs isn't something that you can just gloss over just because getting around it is easy. It is an active choice by the people making the game that decreases it's quality.

Also, while the bookkeeping services are a luxury, it's a luxury that wizards is basically designing their game to require more and more everyday. The amount of bloat and information needed for a standard 5e campaign is absurd at this point and wizards has done nothing to fix that.

2. If the entire metric you use for DM resources is "how many premade adventures does it give you" then yeah, that explains why you have such an angry passion for DND. The 5e DM's manual is all premades, random tables, advice that could fit any game while being nonspecific to DnD, and rules.

When they say DnD has a large workload for DMs, they mean that the amount of effort a DM gives during a session in DnD compared to other similar games is absurdly high. Have you ever run a game besides DnD? So many of them are so much more balanced in terms of responsibility than DnD. This idea that the DM is the all running, all seeing god and the players are just there to react is almost exclusive to DnD and sets a terrible precedent compared to how tons of other systems handle.

DnD rules encourage players to simply react to what the DM throws at them, while other systems encourage Players to take an active role in the story by adding mechanics that encourage that instead of doing what the DnD does where it just lectures you on how things should go and doesn't give you any ways to make that happen, so the DM now has the increased load of having to facilitate that as well. For example, a personal favorite fantasy game of mine called Icon thats still in playtest has (in addition to a very interesting system of separate classes for narrative and combat situations) a mechanic where characters have a set of ideals that they get experience for sticking to. It's a set of yes or no questions that are checked at the end of the session, and every yes gets a point of experience (in addition to several other questions both character specific and non specific).

For example: "Did you talk or slipp your way out of a charged situation?". If the player with that ideal does it, they get a point of XP. Now, instead of having players roleplay just because (which many people do enjoy, not saying thats not valid as a way to get players role-playing) they now have a distinct goal and incentive for that goal. More importantly to the conversation though, they have a distinct goal and incentive that doesn't have to be entirely established by the DM. That goal is made by the players and presented by the game, and all the DM need to worry about is the important part, telling the story and setting the scene.

The players are given way more agency and mechanical tools to express their character than DnD gives them. DnD non combat play just amounts to players doing whatever they want and rolling dice to see if it happens. Which is fine, but it needs to be acknowledged that that is not DnD being fun, that's a good table and DM making the best of what they are given. It's a way of doing things that is entirely DM dependent, and (again) putting too much responsibility on the DM.

3. Let's not sit here and pretend DnD players are not intensely neurotic about things like "metagaming". Metagaming used to mean shit like having monster stat blocks presaved in your notes, and now most out of character talk gets labeled as metagaming. When asking one of your party members how much health they have or what resources they have is considered metagaming, something is very wrong. Same with "Min maxing", which is a term that now gets thrown at anyone who makes a character even slightly competently. DnD culture has made an enemy out of anyone who actually contends with and tries to actively take advantage of it's mechanics. Most players will state they feel this way because "it makes it not fun for the rest of the table" but, again, that's a DnD specific problem. I've had so many tables of other games where some players bring normal characters, and some players bring "min maxed" characters, and some bring actually min maxed characters. Almost everytime this has happened it's still been fun, and when it hasn't it was usually with games that were badly designed and could be actually broken very easily. DnD is one of those. It is so poorly balanced and it's systems of rigid progression mean that a player who chooses a poorly made class or subclass has nothing to do about it other than try to multi class, convince their DM to let them break the rules and change or die. This leads to resentment and it's part of (among so many other reasons) why DnD inspires the community it does.

4. To bring my entire post together: Did you do all three of the pillars because DnD led you to that mechanically with the rules, or did you do all three pillars because you as the DM or your DM dragged the DnD rules to fit it. Seriously, the three pillars are exploration, social interaction, and combat. If you take away everything in the game that is exclusively combat, what's left for social interaction and exploration mechanically? A couple of skills that just amount to a roll target, which is only technically a mechanic? A handful of spells no one takes because they take the combat ones mostly?

DnD exclusive die hard players need to wake the fuck up and realize that most of things that they are having fun with are their tables dynamic, and you can still have that dynamic in a system that is fun to play and actually encourages what you want.

My recommendation as a good starting point is Monster of the Week. It's a 15 dollar book and I've had more fun with it then I ever did with DnD. The whole system runs on 2d6, the DM sets up a timeline of events behind the screen and a monster to hunt, and then sets the players out to deal with the problem. After that, it's all player driven exploration using skills that are vague but unique, so players get to feel like unique, powerful people while also giving direction on how to handle things. The GM also rolls no dice, only reacting to what the players do with powers from the monster and the people around them, allies and foes alike. Compared to DnD it's a breath of fresh air in showing what a tabletop system can be. It's fast, punchy and fun as hell.

There are other options. DnD is a bloated mess being drained like an oil rig by Wizards, it's time to broaden your horizons
