FusionFall Headcanons: Sunny Bridges
Sadly, Class of 3000's representation in the game is pretty minimal--with mainly just the Sunny Bridges' Auditorium giving it a spotlight. With that, my own headcanons for how its characters would fit in FusionFall have also been limited, as there just isn't much material to go off of. However, inspired from returning to some of the show's music, I'd like to expand on ideas I've had sprinkled with other posts I've made. For now, let's focus on none other than Sunny Bridges himself:
With the auditorium situated in what might be the heart of entertainment for the City areas, Marquee Row, it's unlikely that Sunny originally intended for it to be anything other than a typical venue. Likely constructed prior to his days as a teacher, he may not have even cared for it at all depending on whether or not it was built by the time he started losing his passion for music. It was just another mark of the fame that was wearing him down. However, after his experiences teaching, he started using the auditorium to give young and upcoming artists the chance to explore their own talent on a professional stage. Classes and workshops could be taught there alongside the big concerts, and the auditorium grew as a place of both education and community.
It should go without saying that his time as a teacher revitalized his passion, enough for Sunny to continue acting as a mentor. He might still have issues with the music industry itself, but he's found himself again, along with the importance of music in his life and the lives of those around him. Thanks to that, he wants to keep passing on those lessons and bits of wisdom to others.
That strength in music came in-full when the war hit. The invasion stretched across every community around the globe, with a sense of peace stripped from everyone. Even when nanos were introduced and the tide began to turn, with nothing to help people escape from the daily terrors and lack of normalcy, morale was low. However, that is one of the great powers of art: To give moments of escapism, beauty, and hope in otherwise awful situations. In a situation where people can't even walk out of their homes without facing monsters, where soldiers constantly roam through the streets, when all the places and things you did that you used to find comfort in have been taken from you... Music is something anyone can take part in no matter where they are or what they have. You don't even need tools or instruments when you've got a voice to sing with, feet to dance with, and hands to beat out a rhythm. Music is something any person can take with them anywhere and can be the most widespread and uplifting of the arts. Sunny knows this, and so his part of the war effort was to share that spirit with anyone who needed it.
The Fusion Fighter radio network was already established when Sunny began volunteering himself and his students. However, Sunny plays one of, if not the, biggest role for it. Besides his own music, he also has the connections to bring in many other great artists. Again, he may not like the music industry, but his knowledge of it and his work with his students has given him some means of handling a good chunk of the administrative stuff many other creatives can have difficulty managing. He can get a jumble of talents working like a well-oiled machine. He'll help set up live performances as well, particularly in the City areas and especially at the base in the underground mall.
Inevitably, these efforts that were once his step away from the spotlight have dragged Sunny back in. Before his name could fade from people's minds after he left stardom, he ended up becoming a figurehead among all of these war-time entertainers. Anyone who didn't know him before certainly knows him now, whether or not they're fans of his music. Resuming his celebrity status isn't something he wants, and he makes that point well-known. Nevertheless, he's also glad that his music is reaching people and for all the right reasons.
Sadly, Fuse does not think the same way. Of course, the tyrant won't go after artists the same as he will other figures in the war effort, but he has caught on to how much hope and inspiration Sunny gives to people. If Sunny is ever left vulnerable, Fuse's army will take the chance to take him out. On the upside, there's also plenty of soldiers who'll gladly protect the musician when called.

As the bright green light filled the empty room, the loud, unceasing beeping made him suddenly wake up.
Ben growled, trying to cover his ears with the pillow to ignore whatever was happening. But after that sound became louder and louder, the boy finally peeked from the pillow, trying to locate the source of that fuzz.
It was coming from the night table next to his bed. It took a moment to realize, but once he understood that it was the Omnitrix going off, he quickly sat up, reaching for the device to see what was happening.
Instinctively we wore it; Dexter pressed for him to take it off at least when he was sleeping, both fearing that it could malfunction while Ben wasn’t aware and because of the damage it was creating on the boy’s wrist.      Finally, he pressed on the device, to see what the alarm was for.
[WARNING: NEW ALIEN DNA DETECTED]
That completely caught his attention. He navigated through the settings, trying to determine the location of that new extraterrestrial life form the Omnitrix was detecting.
Strange... it said it wasn’t coming from anywhere near Offworld Plaza or the Space Port. He tried to scan the Nanocom Map, but everywhere he looked, the Omnitrix kept saying that the source of the new DNA wasn’t anywhere in there.
Sighing, a bit annoyed, he got up and walked to his desk, switching on the computer to try and solve that mystery once and for all.
He connected the watch to the network and started a larger scan of all known area to find this new alien form.
It took a while, and Ben was really about to fall asleep again on his chair when finally, something came up.      Yawning, the teen stretched and looked at the big screen in front of him. What he saw, left him speechless, and made him wake up completely.
The computer was detecting the source of the new alien DNA on Planet Fuse.
That couldn’t be right,      There was NO WAY the Omnitrix was detecting ANY sort of life form on that disgusting excuse of a planet.
He tried to get more information, scanning all known alien species to see if there was a match with what the watch was detecting. Of course, there were some species the device hadn’t scanned yet, but them being on Planet Fuse? Was that monster keeping hostages for some obscure reason?
But the answer that came up from his search was even more unsettling that he could ever imagine.
[NEW ALIEN DNA FOUND] [SOURCE: PLANET FUSE] [SPECIES: FUSE]
That... couldn’t be right at all. They passed YEARS trying to understand who Fuse was and how to destroy it. The Omnitrix started malfunctioning once that invader arrived, and it was never able to acquire or even DETECT that monster’s DNA.      He tried to repeat the search more than once, but the same result came up, over and over again.
Ben leaned back on his chair, looking down at the watch, shocked and confused.      He tapped on the device screen, and a hologram popped up.
[ACQUIRE NEW ALIEN DNA: YES/NO]
Maybe he needed to call Dexter and tell him about what was going on; that could be a big breakthrough in that war.      As he thought this, the signal coming from Planet Fuse began to weaken, and the Omnitrix started a countdown for the acquisition.
He could record all that data and send it to the boy genius.      Or... he could... scan the DNA, store it into the Omnitrix and show it to him the next day...
[COUNTDOWN: 3]
His eyes darted from the computer screen to the Omnitrix, trying to decide what to do.
[COUNTDOWN: 2]
There was no time to copy the information or even contact Dexter.
[COUNTDOWN: 1]
He whined, and with a quick, resolute movement he smacked the screen of the Omnitrix, allowing it to acquire and store that new DNA.
The beeping immediately ceased. The room went silent, except for Ben’s hard breathing. He was legit shivering from a mix of relieved stress and fear.
It... was there. He had Fuse, LORD Fuse’s DNA stored into the Omnitrix.
That was BIG. That could allow them to really win that war that had been going on for so long. It didn’t seem real.
He sighed loudly, rubbing his face with both hands and bending down to his legs, trying to calm down a bit, collect his thought and decide what to do next. He even stopped breathing for a few seconds.
Finally, Ben pulled up, taking a deep breath.      He looked down at the Omnitrix once again and tapped a shivering finger on the dial, letting the new alien hologram appear.
Fuse.
It was real.
And now... he was curious. Should he... try it?      Should he verify that that was, in fact, Fuse’s form?           What if it was a trap?
Too many questions and doubts rose up as he looked at that green miniature of the alien who was trying to destroy their planet.
He needed to be sure so that no one would get hurt.
His hand moved to activate the Omnitrix, right arm up in the air and left one bent in front of his face. He hesitated as all the possibilities passed in his mind on how that could end.
In the end, his instinct prevailed, and his hand flew down and collided with the device, filling the room with a bright green light.
And a painful, ear-piercing scream of agony.

FusionFall Headcanons: Nano Training (Expanded)
Overall, much of the training a nano receives isn't too different from their IE Donor's simply because, once you have a nano, the bulk of time training and fighting is spent with them at your side. Nevertheless, it's still important to closely monitor your nano's independent growth.
While it is possible for nanos to adopt a wide array of their original model's abilities, full mastery of them is another matter. There's not much of a rhyme or reason to their innate talent since--like so many other aspects--it depends on the influence of their IE Donor as much as their original model. Therefore, it is up to the IE Donor to carefully observe their nanos and see where their strengths lie. Many of their abilities can even be dangerous to you and other allies, so figuring all of this out early on acts as a precautionary measure as well. All original models have a set of data collected on them courtesy of the Nano Project, so don't be afraid to gather what information you can to get a better understanding of the little doubles.
As mentioned in other posts, another option is to have your nano train under their original model directly. Some original models will give opportunities for nanos to learn how to master their abilities, typically as a large group. Examples of models more inclined to teach their nano copies include Blossom, Wilt, Numbuh One, and Dee Dee. In contrast, those who rarely get involved with nanos include Eddy, Bloo, and Hex. Depending on the personality of the model in question, an IE Donor might feel more or less inclined to allow their nano to attend these lessons though if there's a concern that they may adopt the model's negative traits.
It's important for an IE Donor to remember that nanos aren't tools, they're teammates. They may have been made for war, but they still feel and act as independent creatures. As such, in downtime, you should find opportunities to connect with your nanos. Building a sense of trust will naturally increase your ability to lead them in-turn.
While it may seem unnecessary for a nano to go through the same physical training as their IE Donor, participation in some physical training will give them a better sense of how you move on the battlefield and how they can move in-synch. This will help them cover your blind spots as well as get you both acquainted with how to maneuver around each other.
Matchups are extremely important to getting one's team running like a well-oiled machine. A successful fusion fighter should be able to fire out commands in an instant in a battle, their nanos responding in quick succession as though they were one body. Strategizing your matchups (both by nano type and nano ability) will allow you to take on fusion monsters much easier. For example, having one nano as a standby healer in the event of an emergency is common among less adept fighters. Barring specific circumstances, it is often recommended that you organize your team so that you're set with one nano of each type-limiting the possibility of facing a natural weakness in combat. Avoid favoritism.
Just as IE Donors are expected to learn some degree of medical knowledge to tend to their nanos in the field, nanos should also be prepared for a worst-case scenario. Especially for independent agents within Earth's forces, there's a danger of a fusion fighter falling in battle without another soldier around to help them. With the exception of Resurrect 'Ems, this leaves their fates entirely onto their nanos. With their much smaller size as a massive disadvantage, the nanos will have to get their IE Donor to a safe location and administer aid as needed. Obviously, healers and nanos with the recall ability will have the easiest time of this, but it's still important to come up with a plan in case of an emergency. Other knowledge your nanos likely should have for such an event include army signals/channels in order to call for help and an overview of the human body's needs, such as maintaining a healthy temperature.
Similarly, your nanos will also need to know how to survive without you in the event of separation. There is no advantage to having them completely dependent on you. Most of the time, if they are in serious danger, they can simply return to their nano chips--locking themselves inside. However, moving too far out of range of the chip/damage to the chip is still very much possible. When divided from their teams, nanos are encouraged to prioritize their own safety. If they can't regroup with their own team, they are to bunker down until the danger has passed and then return to a base/find another fusion fighter to help them as soon as possible. Fighting fusion monsters alone should be a last resort.

Headcanon: Smoothies are a rarity in the Fusionfall world because they easily get covered in goo, or worse, the fusions change the fruity drink with fusion matter. Ben and Gwen are in abstinence and sometimes you can see them cry uncontrollably because THEY NEED THEIR DOSE.
