He also says what Mei Mei told him once: if you're searching for a new side of yourself (=if you're doubting the person you've lived to become in your last moments), go north; if you want to stay true to who you are (=if you are pleased with how you lived your life and how it shaped you as a person), go south.

Hold on for a moment here. During Gojo's conversation with the apparitions of his dead friends his mind conjured, he and Nanami share what the last moments were like for each of them. And Nanami talks about how he had no doubts to plague his mind and heart, becoming the first sorcerer to carry no regrets to his grave.

Isn't the latter the direction Haibara's pointing in? Because he's pointing at Yuuji. He's pointing out to Nanami that he lived his life for the people in it, he had someone to cling unto life and keep fighting for and someone to think of as he lets out his last breaths. He didn't live alone, and so he doesn't get to die lonely.

You only know the outlines of your soul by bumping into others. Isn't it what Haibara's presence reminds Nanami of? How well you've lived your life, how good a person you've become is measured by the people you've met along the way. And Haibara's pointing at Yuuji, telling Nanami that he has lived well for he has the memory of people he cared for and who cared for him in return to carry with him to the other side.

After all, we don't get to hear what Haibara says, but we do get Nanami tell Gojo that Haibara made his last moments brighter.
