I don’t know if it’s culture to post works-in-progress, but Magolor is just so… soppy in this drawing.

I hate seeing him like this… but he kinda deserves it. Also, song lyric references! This was honestly inspired by an experience I had waiting for the bus in the pouring rain yesterday! I was so soaked… at it was so gloomy. At sunset, though, it was SO beautiful. There was a rainbow mixed with golden hour, probably the prettiest weather I have ever seen.

Upon first arriving at the poker soirée, he had been determined to be as much of a gentleman as he still had left in him (the invitation had come under a Lady’s name, for pity’s sake). Nonetheless, as the evening went on, loss on loss and spirit after spirit, his good manners had waned.

It only made sense that the servant girl would get the worst of it. Unintentional as it was, every person sitting at the table held their tongue politely against one another. You never knew how the tables could turn in such a game. That’s how “bourbon, if you will” and “thank you love” had eventually slurred into “more!” and a slam of his cup against the table, causing it to splinter.

The girl’s gesture had been so subtle, so quick, he might’ve missed it altogether had his gracious hostess not been observing her so sharply. As the girl kneeled to pick up the pieces her eyes followed, hawklike, delighted. Whatever tale there was to tell there, he felt certain any woman would’ve loved to spin it. For him, simply being roped into it was entertaining enough.

‘Are we being too much of a nuisance to you, lassie?’ he asked as she turned to leave.

The grin she’d been holding spread across his hostess’s face at the question, tugging briefly at his own. An expectant silence rose, cut only by the Lady's 'Answer him, Ella'.
