I HAVE SURVIVED COMIC CON! (just about-)
Tumblr media
I am! A little scared of how many people took photos with me! I underestimated how much people like villagers lmao BUT EVERYONE WAS SUPER CHILL AND NICE I LOVE YALL 🩷
some of my incredible achievements this convention:
Was "hrm"ed at by an entire queue of people. I gave them all a good giggle im quite proud of myself for that 😋
Accidentally clocked some poor guy in the head with my hat while trying to take a selfie (sorry bro 😞)
Played my first DND game and rolled the WORST charisma possible in my first throw (1. How the fuck did I fumble that badly 😦)
GOT RECOGNISED AS NURM?????? HOLY SHIT IM STILL GOING FERAL (cosmiczomb on tiktok, the selfie above is her's ⬆️🩷🩷)
Not my achievement but SOMEONE ASKED MY DAD (who went in his regular clothes) IF HE WAS STEVE. LIKE SINCERELY ASKED HIM. THIS IS HIS SECOND ACCIDENTAL COSPLAY IM SOBBING
I have! Less photos to post then I first thought! (Like I said people like villagers I got loads of photos just not. On my phone. 😭) But I do hope y'all enjoy this wee morsel of Nurm content.
Thank you father for taking these photos (but I will practice selfies good heavens it looks so much better)

Taylor & Travis Timeline
June 2024 - Part 3
June 25 - Travis Kelce is a guest on "Bussin with the Boys" Podcast and talks about his relationship with Taylor (x 1:14:18). Podcast recorded 19 June 2024
Tumblr media
Travis is asked how his team mates handled the news that he was dating Taylor...
"no nobody really gave me [a hard time] no, really nobody knew what was going on really all over the place, we kind of kept it between us as much as we could but once she came to a game obviously it was all popping from there"
"you want to keep things private but at the same time I'm not here to hide anything, that's my girl you know what I mean that's my lady, I'm proud of that so it's like I'm not sitting here trying to juggle 'how can I keep this under wraps'. You just don't want to let everybody into your personal life and be able to comment on it knowing that everything she does is getting a headline."
When asked about what has been crazy as a result of dating Taylor Travis replies
"it's been cool, it's a different demographic than the NFL really so it's been cool to dabble in that and see her following, it's been fun.
"The Chiefs fans have turned into a lot of her fans or her fans have turned into Chiefs fans so I've had fun with just about every aspect of it. It's just when you're at home you want privacy and you don't always get that"
On supporting each other and Taylor going on to the field at the Super Bowl:
"she's very self-aware she understands situations and that's why I really started to really fall for her was how genuine she is around friends & family, it can get crazy for somebody with that much attention and she just keeps it so chill and so cool and because you know everyone's watching what hey what move
"The first game she came to against the Bears I was like 'hey yeah so I could probably set you up with everything' and she just walked right through the front door. There's no going down talking to security making sure that she gets to her [box seat] she just wants to be around the family and friends and experience this with everybody. She got Buu points for that. She's in the madness, she wants to be a part of it, she wants to support me and do things like that. She really won me over with that one though."
How's it been going to the concerts?
"dude the concerts are electric yeah they're electric and she just switched it up, she just came out with the new album so she Incorporated that into the new show, she's having fun up there so it's like I can enjoy seeing her in her element killing it on stage and I love the show man she's got bangers."
Travis is asked to name his top tier songs of Taylor's...
"I really started listening to Taylor's music when she came out with 1989 like I knew who she was before that, we were the same age we so through high school I knew who Taylor was as she was getting her career started. 1989 was where it really started to go crazy so I'm going to say Blank Space because that was the first one great song so I'm put that one at number one. "Number two; Cruel Summer is one of the ones she opens with at her show and when she comes out and it's just Electric in the stadium and then she goes into an absolute banger like that, I was fired up when that happened the first show I was ever at" "What would be my third? I'll say So High School, it's got a little bit of a sentimental meaning". "You know how to ball, I know Aristotle"
June 26 - New Heights - The London Episode airs (recorded Sat 22nd June in London). Jason and Travis Kelce talk about Jason and Kylie's first experience of the Eras Tour in London UK.

Favourite Irish history fact?
Now this is VERY difficult but right now it's probably the way that renowned early eighteenth century presbyterian philosopher samuel boyse, who ran in the same circles as the people who started the scottish enlightenment and whose religious thought strongly influenced modern ireland on both sides of the border through william drennan, would raise money when he couldn't pay his rent

This work of art reflects life in Ireland at the turn of the last century, and by rejecting euphemism, reveals to the Irish their unromantic realities. Each of the 15 stories offers glimpses into the lives of ordinary Dubliners, and collectively they paint a portrait of a nation.

As much as 8:11 is rife with supernatural scares, I think the atmosphere it creates, and the themes behind the supernatural bits, are what make it so eery and effective. Ofc this will include spoilers but I’ve only experienced 2-3~ hours of the game so there will be speculation. Content warnings same as the game.
So.. christian churches. They are meant to be places of shelter and safety, but for many, they’ve been places of abuse, fear, and forced indoctrination. Not just churches, but other places run by the church. Residential schools, mother and baby homes, homeless shelters. In the first bit of the game, Leon and Ryker try to take shelter in a church, only for Leon to be murdered. I think it’s also notable that while Ryker has been training to be a priest they’ve been homeless. This implies the church as an institution hasn’t helped them find housing or supported them.
In Rosso Cadere, the theming is even more obvious. The Basilica is a large, grand structure, but it is inhospitable to all that enter it. Everyone in town considers it cursed. It displays wealth and decay, not warmth or safety. Countless lives were sacrificed exploring the catacombs and finding bodies. Yet church officials keep sacrificing people to this pyre. Vittorino’s story directly mentions the church’s practices. Overcrowding, neglect, dehumanization. Children’s beds are kept in the catacombs, in places with no windows. A woman begs Ryker for help because her baby is sick, and she’s trapped. Often women in mother and baby homes were unmarried, poor, and had no one else to turn to. They were trapped, situationally. Left to the mercy of people who let them and their children die.
The Basilica itself *eats* people. It has flesh, veins and sinews and it is an amalgamation of all that it’s fed on. The Basilica was built for them.
If the church is God’s body, then God must be hungry.
All of this, I think, mirrors the ways people have been mistreated. ‘Eaten’. Missing like they never existed. Countless bodies have been found at residential schools and mother-and-baby homes, undocumented and hidden away. Ryker, I think, has to face the horror of this history as young new priest. They’ve experienced a bit of it firsthand, and it’s something they have to grapple with if they want to interact with these institutions.
Leon’s kindness, and the effect it had on Ryker, isn’t something that should be overlooked. But up until Leon’s death Ryker had some semblance of safety. God was a kind comforting idea when Leon was there. As one man, though, Leon’s actions are kind of dwarfed by all of the history of the church. And with his death, Ryker has no barrier between them and the cruelty that Christianity can have. After Leon’s death they kind of have to process what Christianity means to them, how they feel about god, where their place is etc, as they cope with his loss. Christianity maybe wasn’t what they thought it was before. (It is now something that has cursed bibles that can explode people’s heads). I think the story kind of functions as a metaphor for them processing this, just with a lot more physical and tangible horrors and pain.
I hope all of this made sense. I was raised fundamentalist christian and have strong feelings about it so I’ll admit my analysis is informed by that upbringing. Thanks for reading.

#OTD in 1940 – Birth of Maeve Binchy, an Irish novelist, playwright, short story writer, columnist, and speaker best known for her humorous take on small-town life in Ireland, her descriptive characters, her interest in human nature and her often clever surprise endings.
