Oooo I have a little question since we've been talking on the Halloween polycule for a bit together.

Would the Halloween poly dress up in matching Halloween costumes? if so, what would they dress up as? If not, who's dressing up as what? :3

Ooh, that’s a fun question! I’ll compile some of my thoughts into a snippet of this scenario, since I think that’ll be easier.

On the morning of Halloween, Veronika walked into the living room and immediately made a beeline for her two housemates, who were both sitting on the couch.

“Arturo, Acey, have I ever mentioned how much I love you?” She asked, plopping down in the middle of couch in between them.

“We’ve talked about that nickname.” Ace grumbled, glaring. Her flattery hadn’t worked as well as she’d hoped.

Arturo sighed. “What do you want, Veronika? It’s clear you’re up to something.”

“Weeeeelllll, I was thinking we could wear matching costumes for Halloween this year!” Veronika exclaimed, “We could—”

“No.” Both Arturo and Ace answered at the same time, not even letting her finish.

“I’m not dressing up for Halloween, Veronika, that’s an activity for children.” Arturo said. Ace nodded in agreement.

“Oh, okay.” Veronika answered sadly. “But we have to do something for Halloween, if we’re not doing that. We always watch Arturo’s favorite reality TV shows when he asks, so I should get to do something for this!” She reasoned. A wide grin spread across his face. “Then again, I suppose I could settle for a different Halloween activity. We could always watch a scary movie, or visit haunted houses, or—”

“NO!” Ace screeched, covering her mouth with his hands. He tried to recover his dignity afterwards (and did not succeed), clearing his throat and saying, “I-I mean, I like the costumes idea better.”

“Yay!” Veronika exclaimed, giving him a quick hug before turning to Arturo. “Pleeeeease can you do it with us? It’ll be fun!”

Arturo pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers, silent for a moment before letting out a long sigh. “…Fine.”

“Yay! I already have our costumes picked out, and all the makeup we’ll need, and—” Veronika immediately started rambling, clapping her hands together and bouncing up and down slightly as she explained her plan to them.

Despite the fact they were beginning to regret this already, the other two had to admit it was nice seeing her so happy.

So yeah. Long story short Ace and Arturo don’t want to dress up, but Veronika convinces them in the end. Here are a few other headcanons and such:

-I’m not sure what their costumes should be, which is ironic because that’s the one question you wanted an answer to. Maybe they could do something fun with classic Disney villains or something. Arturo is Cruella, Veronika is Ursula, and Ace is the Queen of Hearts. Or something like that. I’d love to hear other people’s ideas!

-Arturo insists on taking many photos, since he figures putting so much effort into your appearance and then not showing anybody would be a waste.

-Arturo may be good at conventional makeup, but Veronika far exceeds him in the scary makeup department. Thus, she’s the one to do all the makeup for their costumes.

-Veronika wants to watch a Halloween movie, but Ace is against anything too scary, so they compromise and watch the Nightmare Before Christmas. Ace forgot how creepy the Oogie Boogie Man is and ended up scared anyway, hugging Arturo’s arm like a teddy bear for comfort. He didn’t cry, though!…Well okay, maybe a little.

-Veronika makes spooky snacks. They’re not actually spooky, but she’ll call something like popcorn and M&M’s ‘Unicorn intestines’ or something like that and it gets the job done. She tries to make a cake that looks like a real human heart, too, but according to Arturo it is not atomically accurate in the slightest.

-Overall they have a lot of fun! Veronika is happy to spend her favorite holiday with her two favorite people.

hello hello tis I the person who made the hermit relationships post and I would like to say yes you absolutely should make a post with your thoughts I wanna see 👀

EEEEE yknow what this is exactly the enabling I needed to finally make this post!!! primarily, I have a very queerplatonic, very aro, very difficult to label polycule that I loveeee to think about, and have a lot of headcanons surrounding them <3 I definitely have more reaching outside this group, but for the moment I just wanna talk about them!!

here's my veryvery rough hewn (and slightly outdated) map of it <3 but I'm gonna put detailed descriptions below the cut for anyone (particularly other aros) who might be interested in queer/platonic relationships that are very much not sibling-like, so step right up!!! I'd love to share <3

>> joel + lizzie: married, joel is aro but the relationship is romantic I headcanon joel as aro, but lizzie allo, and think joel is very romance positive in terms of enjoying doing things that he knows lizzie likes, like giving kisses and dates and stuff ! even if he gets happiness from those through more of a giving satisfaction than anything romantic

>> lizzie + cleo: mutually crushing shadowrot pining is real, and I think they both vaguely know, but I kinda headcanon cleo as maybe greyromantic or lithromantic so I don't think they have any desire to go further than glancing at each other and blushing <3

>> joel + etho: queerplatonic behavior but no label the fucking freaks. I actually really think about their relationship in unique ways because I think dl soulbound would have given them both an ""excuse"" to be casually intimate with someone in a way they both struggle with walls around, and so they keep it up

>> etho + tango: unlabeled and weird about each other tangtho I will forever see as a pair of bros who will be going about their business, have an outrageously gay queerplatonic homoerotic moment, and then go back to acting like nothing happened while everyone else is ?????? and they will continue to happily never talk about it!!! ^_^

>> tango + cleo: platonic dating they're solidly, securely friends, but will go on dates, get each other gifts, hold hands, lots of dating type activities! and they've been jokingly called girlfriends enough times that they use the term in a platonic sense

>> lizzie + bdubs: casual romance my beloved rarepair shadubs. ily. I do headcanon bdubs as transfem so they're very much yuri YAYY but I just think they'd have a lot of fun with fluffy romantic feelings, and they have their own marriages so they feel no pressure to go deeper than that!! and they have fun kissing in the garden and having tea parties and pretty stuff <3

>> bdubs + tango: metamours they love to yell at each other and can't seem to get away from each other (just watch early trafficlife stuff these two in 3l/ll rule my fucking brain) but are tied together by mutual partnerships and actually understand each other incredibly well through it

>> joel + bdubs: metamours they're just too similar. like wayyyy too similar. they get in fights that seem like a mirror getting mad and have fun about ganging up on etho <3

>> lizzie + etho: metamours I just think they're niceeee and would do nice stuff togetherrr :] they have really interesting passing interactions canonically and I think when put in the same household, they'd get along really well

(the below are relationships in this grouping I hadn't really thought about in depth before, but this is a good opportunity to write a bit about em! they're all ofc technically metamours but I just think might not interact as much as those listed above)

>> lizzie + tango to be Quite honest I think this pairing is maybe the most dangerous out of any of them. something is going to explode and it's absolutely not going to be what they were trying to blow up it's probably the kitchen

>> tango + joel they Think they're the most dangerous pairing but they are cartoon characters. incredibly entertaining for the rest of the house tho <3

>> joel + cleo oh they'd have funnnn tbh I think they'd actually be reallyreally chill together, they'd probably do crafts in mutually happy silence (armor stands prolly)

4. It's our two respective blorbos kissing LIKE HOW CAN IT GO MORE PEAK THAN THAT. WE'RE LITERALLY JUST TAKING EACH OUR FAVORITE DOLLS AND MAKING THEM HOLD HANDS. THAT'S WHY BEST SHIP IDC.

3. They have no one but each other (well, in the "Mathias somehow ended up in pre-CV3 Castlevania" scenario, at lest), Mathias for the obvious reason that he knows no one and everyone is evil and wicked ESPECIALLY Dracula and the only person to be nice to him is Hector, and Hector because he slowly start to realise how not okay his relationship with Dracula is, and Isaac hates him, and no one else in the Castle is trustworthy, there's no one he could call a "friend" anymore. And it makes them cling to each other more. They're a healthy and actually "good" version of Hecula and it's cute but also it HURTS because EVEN THEN THEY CAN NEVER BE TOGETHER BECAUSE LORE AND CANON AND MATHIAS HAS TO GO HOME EVENTUALLY AND HECTOR CANNOT FOLLOW AND MATHIAS WILL BECOME DRACULA ANYWAY AND AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA PAIN.

2. Lord/Knight relationship mixed with pious man/sinner who worships the pious man more than he would ever worship God himself relationship, wich offer such a delicious dynamic <3 The knight who's whole life and skills are based on sinning against God, who he has only disdain for. And yet he choses to follow and protect a man who's whole life revolves around SERVING God. And the Lord respects the knight for his skills and passion and devotion, even though he doesn't entirely agree with him. And the knight doesn't agree with his vision of God but he accepts it because what matters to him is his Lord as a person, and his Lord is the only God he is willing to follow (almost) blindly. There's something magnetic attracting them to the other. They're literally so cool I LOVE THEM also. they're kinky af.

1. They're literally made for each other. Both linked to Dracula in a particular way (him from the past/him if he didn't let his anger and grief take the best of him :) ), they both have this tendency to not get attached to many people, but damn, when they do get attached, they get A-TTACHED. "I would kill and die for you" KIND OF ATTACHED. They share a passion for alchemy, Hector actually studied from Mathias and the Cronqvist family's books, so it makes their relationship extra special <3 Hector needs someone to worship and dedicate his life to, Mathias feel like he shouldn't like that but he is weaker than he likes to admit <3 (taking God's place is a sin, he's pretty sure. but hey, it's not like he can change Hector, so, might as well :)) They both admire the other in some way. Mathias is the brain, Hector the brawn, so they complete each other too... so many ways in wish they can make you go "ah, yes, those two are literally soulmates <3" even reasons i didn't mention because little brain forgot at the moment BUT STILL (also depending on wich version of Mactor it is... They can bond over their hatred and grief after their respective wives died :) And it can lead them to bring each other even deeper in hell, instead of lifting each other up like in a pre-wives death Mactor scenario <3). It all hurts even more when you think about the fact they are doomed from the start. Never meant to stay together forever. :') Fated to separate at one point, wether they want to or not. :') (but scratch that i want to imagine Hector going with Mathias to his era and them and Leon forming a raw gay sex polycule and be happy)

So yeah, the them <3 The “God has never once shown that he cares about me, therefore he is not my Lord. You are.” them <3 The "Please, i am begging you, don't let go of me" them <3 The "I don't like who you worship/serve but I cannot get enough of you" them <3 I cannot wait for someone to release a fic showing how peak they are :)

anyway i think they like to just sit quietly together sometimes (: they both strike me as the kind of people who like a moment of silence sometimes marisols more talkative but i could see her liking some time to just be with her thoughts . so i think sometimes they will just sit next to each other and snuggle up while fennel reads a book and marisol strokes their hair and they just cuddle all silent for a little (:

i have this little visual of fennel like . leaning in to whisper a little joke in marisols ear and marisols just GIGGLING all over the place all silly . i think theyre very soft and giggly and cutesy i like them sooo mcuh <33

i think fennel likes to tuck little flowers behind marisols ear . marisols always got a nice little flower that fennel found outside and it makes her really happy (: if fennels REALLY feeling fancy and has free time theyll make her a whole little flower crown or a daisy chain and things like that 

i think marisol and soren become friends over this idk where this thought came from but its based to me . idk i just think itd be cute if marisol starts spending more time around her girlfreinds weird friend and they actually get along . marisol can keep up with sorens long rambles about necromancy theyre BUDDIES . they set up fennels birthday party together (:

Good Omens: my most beloved. I like it so much. I like pretty much every character, I love the humour, the story, the acting, the opening is a fun little tune, the book was great too, so. yeah <3

Haikyuu!!: the volleyball people will always have a place in my heart <3 I have quite a few good memories associated with it, and the show itself is so good too on so many levels - characters, character dynamics, voice acting, soundtrack, it's all so good and I still enjoy losing my mind at the bird imagery and certain dialogue lines and moments ("we're the protagonists of the world" and the "I'm here" scene in that first practice game come to mind off the top of my head) and some of the general themes that keep showing up (like the "together we're invincible" thing) and just. hwagh. volleyball anime good

Our Flag Means Death: I love the gay pirates so much. The show is silly but also serious in a similar way to Good Omens, and every single character is so likeable. Like I'm not even gonna start listing off characters I like because I will end up with the entire crew they're all so <3 yeah <3 also just WOOOO GAY PEOPLE!!!!! (and also this show put me back on a "oh shit maybe i like men" kick. not going to elaborate but yeah)

My Hero Academia: (YEAH I KNOW I'M SORRY) I liked this show for years and similarly to Haikyuu i have a lot of good memories attached to it, specifically because I spent a lot of time in lockdown rewatching it with ny best friend on Discord screenshare and coming up with stupid jokes and it was so so much fun. that's one big reason why this is on the list. the other reason is that I just like a lot of the characters and all the superpower stuff is cool

i have been sitting here for like an hour writing the rest of the post and trying to think of another show and I genuinely cannot think of another show I've seen that I liked enough to give it a place on a "top 5 shows" list. like there's definitely a couple other good anime series (Noragami, Demon Slayer, Given) but those were never on the same level as the other ones on this list y'know? and I was never really one for cartoons, and I haven't seen a lot of tv shows (I did like Siren but season 3 ruined it for me. why did they break up the polycule. that was literally not necessary to do) other than the ones already mentioned on this list. so I'm gonna leave spot 5 blank

songs: this one is kinda hard because my music taste changes all the time but I'm gonna just make this a mix of my all-time favourites and songs I currently like. also gonna limit myself to one song per artist to allow for some variety

Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy by Queen: I like this song so much <3 it makes me happy, there's this one fantastic Good Omens animatic, the "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 [ding]9-o'clock" bit is so good it scratches a little itch in the back of my brain. it's good. I like this song :D honourable mentions by Queen include Bohemian Rhapsody (absolute classic, we played it in orchestra a couple years ago, very fun) and Don't Stop Me Now (upbeat! energy! also a classic! like it lots)

Supermassive Black Hole by Muse: this is one of the current favourites! It's a banger, it reminds me of [redacted] space opera AU, it's good <3 Starlight from the same album is definitely an honourable mention too

Sex with a Ghost by Teddy Hyde: another current favourite, it's just a banger I don't have much to say about it. I like the piano

Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon: I've been doing ballroom dancing (whether Discofox counts as a "ballroom" dance is another question but I learned it in my ballroom dancing class) and this song is SO MUCH FUN to dance a Discofox to, and also we've played it in orchestra which was fun as well, and ALSO it's just a very nice upbeat song :D it's on my feel good vibes spotify playlist and I like listening and dancing to it so it deserves a spot on the list honourable mentions from said playlist include Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations and Sugar Sugar by the Archies (both of which are not related to this song in the slightest but I like them and they would be on my grandma's kitchen radio which is a nice bonus association so I wanted to mention them)

Concrete by Lovejoy: yeah! tbh I didn't think I was gonna be putting Lovejoy on this list because their music isn't necessarily my favourite kind of music but this is a really solid song! I do quite like the rest of their music too (Oh Yeah, You Gonna Cry? and the It's All Futile! It's All Pointless! remake and also Sex Sells and Cause For Concern are some of my other favourites) but Concrete is my favourite by them I think :D

there's a bunch of other songs that I also like for various reasons (for example The Haunted Phonograph by Thoushaltnot, Mama and Welcome To The Black Parade by MCR, Oh No! and Hollywood by MARINA, and Bang! by AJR) but I think this is a solid list of favourite songs so. yeah :D

A bit more self-indulgent writing before Spawn and the weekend conspire to kick my ass...

Post-coital tregrephacard snuggles, anyone? With a side of crying baby? No? Just me? It’s cool...please don’t mind my weirdly specific polycule parenting fantasies...

“Whose idea was this?” Alucard finally asks, disrupting the silent, post-coital awe that has settled over them as they lie there in bed together, their arms and legs still an entangled mess.

“Mine.” Greta and Sypha say in perfect unison. Then they each burst into laughter.

“If this is what comes of you two scheming…” Trevor murmurs as he nuzzles his face against Sypha’s shoulder.

“Scheming?!” She shoves him away, staring incredulously over at him. “Trevor Belmont, you’re certainly not one to talk!”

“I’m not sure I know what you’re referring to...”

“You’ve been murmuring Alucard’s name in your sleep since the day we met beneath Gresit!”

“Probably just dreaming about beating him in a fight or something…” he mutters, his cheeks suddenly darkening.

“Truly a dream, then…” Alucard lifts himself up on one elbow just to raise an eyebrow at him.

“Oh, Alucard…” Sypha laughs, writhing and moaning exaggeratedly between them. “Yes...mmmm. Yes…Alucard, don’t stop!”

“Hey!” Trevor claps his hand over her mouth, but it can hardly contain the fit of giggles threatening to burst through behind it. “Those were private dreams!”

“Funny...” Greta smirks mischievously. “Adrian has never mentioned you in his sleep.”

Alucard’s eyes flash over to her, and she winks at him. The way she sets him up like this would be infuriating if it weren’t somehow always exactly the kind of push he needs in these matters.

“Perhaps not out loud…” he says. He would be lying if he denied having thought about such things as well.

Trevor’s jaw drops a little, and Sypha goes quiet, pulling Trevor’s hand away from her mouth.

Alucard shrugs. “Is it really so surprising?”

Sypha and Greta are smiling at each other now, looking as though it is taking everything in their power not to high-five and ruin this precious moment between them. Trevor wraps one arm around Sypha, and then reaches over her for the others’ hands in front of them.

“This is that weirdly happy thing you all have been going on about, isn’t it?” he sighs.

“Yes…”

“It’s really nice and all, but who is going to tend to our crying baby when she wakes up in 5...4...3...2…”

Right on cue, they hear Dani’s familiar wailing.

“Not it!” Sypha and Greta declare.

Alucard sits up from their little pile. “I believe it is my turn to comfort the child…?”

“That is why we named her after you,” Trevor yawns. “We were really hoping someone would take some responsibility around here.”

Your answers are always so nice! Then, I'm going to ask for the hot topic of the very moment: Liu Sang for "GIVE ME A CHARACTER I’ll break their ass down" game! On an other note, did you watch "tomb of the sea" or TLT3?

Thanks for sending questions in the first place!! It’s always a lot of fun answering those ^^ I..........did not watch either of those. I will most likely NEVER watch Sha Hai because I don’t like senseless angst and Xiaoge is half of my interest in DMBJ so 8 minutes of screentime won’t cut it lol I will definitely get around to watching TLT3 someday but I’m just not...emotionally ready to face it? They’re the closest to the characters as they are in my head and it’s WEIRD to see them on screen! (don’t judge, my brain is strange 😭)

Okay, Liu Sang now! 

How I feel about this character: I like him, for the most part! He is fun and prickly, also incredibly competent. His introduction was fantastic, I was sold on him instantly. I don't particularily enjoy the trauma bits, they feel a little overdone to me, and his adoration of Xiaoge makes me cringe SO OFTEN. Thankfully he grows out of this. I love his character arc and the happy polycule friend group at the end of Reboot make me Very Happy.

All the people I ship romantically with the character: KANJIAN. Kanjian, my beloved. They are perfect for each other. I will not take questions on this, but I will take the opportunity to hype @foxofninetales 's amazing fic The Language of Flour once again, because I've read it like fifteen times and I was crying with laughter at every one of them.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Pangzi!! I love all of their interactions. I also really appreciate how his relation with Wu Xie grows throughout Reboot? He and Xiao Bai also make a fantastic team, one fic on my WIP list has them leading the search team for the missing Iron Triangle and people get the wrong idea about them because they become Instant Bffs but it's Dumb And Sappy wlw/mlm solidarity. I'm just happy he gets friends??

My unpopular opinion for this character: I.......profoundly dislike seeing him paired with the Iron Triangle and/or PingXie? No shade here, it's just very much not my thing. I know it's super popular and there are probably some excellent fics about that but I will regretfully abstain from reading them 🙏 I also tend to think that he has suffered enough and should be wrapped in very large fluffy blankets and possibly the bare and muscular arms of the local himbo and allowed to take A Nap, which the whump-fanatics will probably disagree with :p

One thing I wish would happen / had happened to this character in canon: I would love more interactions between him and Huo Daofu! Also possibly Xiao Hua. They should get to have tea and complain about their stupid, fashion-sense-deprived friends. Snarky bitches rights ✊

I'm personally writing this on th assumption tht Mallick + Lawrence are AT LEAST dating Adam + Eric, so its still within th polycule sense!

I think, much like he does with Adam, Daniel wld get along GREAT w Mallick!! I like 2 think tht they have very similar senses of humour + their snark levels r pretty evenly matched. Eric doesn't ever say as much, but he LOVES 2 hear thm go back n forth, ESP when Adam joins in - its just like. his 2 weird boyfriends bonding w his kid in a way tht has them all laughing n in high spirits n enjoying each other's company and honestly? Eric lives fr little moments like that! he loves getting 2 hear his living room filled w laughter and love and light like tht. sometimes he'll just lean against Art's shoulder while he's helping him cook dinner n listen to th three of them in the living room, voices carrying over th bg noise of th TV, n he'll close his eyes and sigh. it means SO MUCH 2 Eric to have his partners get along so well w his son.

I agree w what u said when I asked abt Adam/Mallick/Lawrence - tht Lawrence will often act affectionately disgruntled when his bfs r engaging in Shenanigans/just in general. so like he'll be reclined on th couch w a book or maybe he'll be in th kitchen helping Eric and/or Art, n he's sighing n shaking his head but he's smiling so wide it kind of hurts bc this is a family. this is smth he hasn't rly experienced b4 - Diana is his whole world, his sunshine n he loves her more than anything, but he didn't have this w Alison. as I've seen it mentioned b4, they were just playing house, grasping like straws at th hollow replication of the so-called suburban American dream, and its like. Lawrence doesn't truly grasp th gravity of tht statement until he's standing in the kitchen n listening to Adam Mallick n Daniel talking and laughing and sometimes infodumping back n forth. he doesn't realize what he's been yearning for until he takes over watching th pot boiling on th stove so Art can make his pasta sauce, until Eric comes up behind him n wraps his arms around his middle n rests his cheek against his back for a little bit. this is all Lawrence has ever truly wanted n I know I said tht w Eric too, but like. this is Lawrence's family, just as much as Diana is. n he like has to take a quick moment, set th wooden spoon down he's using 2 stir th pot w the pasta itself in it n just breathe. n Eric just Gets It, y'know? like Lawrence doesn't even have to say a word 2 know he's understood n its just. he's so so happy, for all his (entirely feigned, this man has such a big heart) exasperation n sighing. he loves these ppl. this is his family.

smth tht is very important 2 Lawrence regarding Daniel is tht he makes sure they know he's there fr them. u've mentioned this b4 also, but Lawrence has a very unique understanding of what Eric went thru as a parent who had a child tht was Also endangered by Jigsaw, n as such also has tht unique understanding of helping his child cope w what she went thru during her Own experience. he makes a point to sort of make himself available fr Daniel like tht bc yes they aren't Diana, and yes Daniel isn't his kid, but he still Cares abt them + is more than willing 2 pass on some of th stuff he's learned while helping Diana cope w her own experience (he's very careful abt this, bc he doesn't want 2 like. take tht role frm Eric, esp when he's doing much better in his recovery. but they've had talks abt tht b4 n Eric makes it very clear tht its okay). I think it takes Daniel a lil bit 2 approach him on their own - not bc they don't trust him or bc they think he's intimidating - but once they do, its very beneficial fr both of them tbh? even if they're not discussing the Nerve Gas House/Bathroom/what have u its a rly nice thing fr them to just sit together n talk.

Lawrence, like Art, is a good listener but on th flip side: Daniel tends 2 look to him fr a solution, or at least smth he can do to like. take his mind off of it fr a bit. a good avenue of this is tht Daniel has a mild interest in th medical field, so he often likes listening 2 whatever Lawrence is willing 2 tell him abt on tht front! n its still smth Lawrence is very passionate abt (he DID return to working in th hospital eventually, after all), so he honestly rly enjoys getting to talk abt it every now n then! so like sometimes Eric will come home frm work n see Adam sat on th couch next to Art + with Mallick's head resting against his thigh while he plays w his hair, n Lawrence n Daniel are spread out on th floor deep in discussion abt what Lawrence had done at work tht day/a topic Daniel had specifically requested, sitting diagonally across frm each other w their feet touching while they roll a ball back n forth bc Daniel focuses easier when they've got smth to fidget w and its just like. this synchronicity. shared heartbeats n breath n space. they've never belonged anywhere more than they all do right here, in this moment, together.

SO. faye and eden have met in both canons, they vaguely knew each other in lothering, but became better friends later when carver joined the wardens. they get along, but they’re not super best friends. eden loves ashariani, sees her as a little sister/daughter, especially considering ashariani has a father/daughter relationship with varric. faye loves ashariani as well, though they don’t spend much time together until after inquisition. faye invites noelle and percy to a private ball for their efforts with the inquisition. eden....hehoo okay so.

eden hates percy <3 as does everyone else. he is not a nice man. but NOELLE. well. eden gets along with noelle......so much so, that she, varric, noelle, and bull eventually become a polycule. eden and noelle find interest in each other SUPER fast, and at that point, noelle is in a non-committal relationship with bull, so he doesn’t mind. varric takes a minute to adjust, but he’s cool with it. their relationship does get a little complicated though, so hold on:

eden & noelle are dating. eden & varric are married. noelle & bull are dating/will marry. eden & bull are dating. noelle & varric are not dating. varric & bull are not dating. (noelle and varric have quiet moments with each other, but don’t feel any particularly strong romantic feelings towards one another. varric and bull are just very close friends whose wives/girlfriends happen to be dating each other LMAO)

ariadne and eden obviously know each other, they’re cousins, and pretty similar in attitude. they were best friends before ariadne was taken to the circle. same thing with elias akldhdnfsgdl she’s his cousin, though they weren’t as close. eden and elias’s relationship is. complicated. but they love each other very much. i got another ask inquiring about elias, so i’ll explain their relationship in that ask <3

elora and freya are married by the end of origins. varian knows vaguely about them through anders telling her stories about them. varian and athena are gently acquainted, but not super close. athena is not a “super close” type of person

how does eden feel about varric taking up with the inquisition? okay so VERY mixed emotions. he tells her pretty much from the start (they regularly send letters). for one, she feels scared. from what she hears of cassandra, she doesn’t sound like someone eden wants around varric, and she doesn’t like that. she also doesn’t like him being in danger without her around. on the other hand, she’s happy to hear he’s getting along with people, especially the inquisitors. she’s happy he has a home

how excited is she to see varric at skyhold? (okay first, that scale made me laugh out loud. me too man....me too. i listen to that trailer every other week) she’s VERY excited!!! she can hear his voice through his letters, but she’s beyond excited when she knows she can hear it in person again, that they’ll be able to slide back into their regular back-and-forth banter, without letters separating how quick they’d be in person. mainly she’s just really happy to be with someone familiar again, especially if that someone familiar is the love of her life

does she make any friends in the inquisition? boy DOES SHE. cole, dorian, and iron bull are in her favorites. sera, josephine, and the chargers are a close second, while the others, in order from “likes the most” to “despises” are: leliana, vivienne, cassandra, blackwall, solas, cullen. she absolutely ADORES dorian, they become close friends REALLY quickly, mostly by teasing varric. in every other canon, eden and bull are just close friends, but in that second canon they do eventually end up together. she will protect cole with her life, she absolutely loves that kid

abbe faria: i dont tend to like static characters often but the concept of an old guy you meet in prison who knows everything and adopts you, and also hes a priest, is so fucking funny so i have to like him. rest in peace my old bro

5 Times the Squad Called Gil Dad (and the 1 time he called them family)

This is a 30min or less fic I wrote in a group chat that’s completely unedited and a mess, but they wanna reblog it, so...

Context from our group headcanons: Malcolm/Dani/JT/Edrisa are a 4-person polycule who go through Some Shit when Martin finds out about them and Malcolm has a Break Down that almost leads to them splitting up. (Alluded to in 4, 5, and the +1.) Also Ainsley is a Lesbian™ who goes through a lot of girlfriends. (Alluded to in the +1.)

There are some other group headcanons swimming thru here, but nothing that should get in the way of reading. Enjoy!

1) Edrisa

Edrisa calls him dad first. It's a Freudian slip -- or well, whatever the dad version of that is. Just a quick "Dad -- Sir -- Officer Sir!" over a dead body, which was to be expected. Gil skimmed right over it, taking the files from her and proceeding with the investigation like normal. If he stopped every time Edrisa said something odd, they'd never get anything done.

2) Malcolm

Malcolm's been saying it for years, through birthday presents and Christmas cards. This year he walks to Gil's office, card and wrapped box in hand. It takes him a moment to realize what the occasion is -- he's never received a Father's Day gift before.

Malcolm's not ready to say it with words. He throws around "Mother" like a knife and "Father" is...complicated. Too complicated. Too much. But Gil gets the message and pulls him into a hug.

3) Dani

Gil tries to be polite and quiet when he shuts the car door. It's 3 in the morning, and someone ought to be trying to sleep in their stead. Dani's perched on the hood of her car. Her battery's dead, and though she's not shivering, she's curled up tight in a jacket made for style not warmth.

Dani’s called a tow truck, but the car's not even worth the scrap metal anymore. When she climbs into his passenger seat for the long ride home she admits, "Haven't had my dad looking out for me in years. It's nice. Thanks." And the car's a little bit warmer as the heat kicks on.

4) JT

JT's the holdout. Always has been. Gil's swimming in and out of consciousness for days, his muscles sore from lack of use and his side burning from the buckshot. Sometimes someone strokes his face -- a gentle, sweet touch to be sure -- but it lights up pinpricks of pain from the scattering of cuts and asphalt rash across half his cheek.

Malcolm visits the most, but he doesn't have a real day job, so that counts for less. (Still nice, though.) Dani and JT come as a pair more often than not, probably on their lunch break. Ainsley comes once with Malcolm and leaves behind a teddy bear with a balloon tied to its wrist. Jessica sends more flowers than the room can fit.

JT is alone the next time Gil's conscious. He must make a confused sound, because JT tells him Dani's in the cafeteria getting food. "This is for you," he says too quickly, shoving a frame toward Gil. Gil tells his hand to reach for it, but he must be too drugged up because it doesn't move, and his eyes can't quite focus on the blur. JT shifts nervously and drops it on the side table out of sight. "Just uhh, get better. We miss you at work."

When Gil's more lucid, he takes a proper look at the photograph. The four of them, JT, Dani, Edrisa, and Malcolm, all shoved together for a selfie. It should be a squashed, terrible affair (JT looms over all of them, and Edrisa’s probably on tip toes just to be seen in the corner) but JT's got an eye for photography, and it's beautiful and silly, and completely them. When he's back at work, he places it on his desk next to his favorite photograph of Jackie.

5) Ainsley

Ainsley started visiting the precinct after Gil officially hired Malcolm as a consultant. Truth be told, at first it was mostly to snipe stories, but since the polycule started, she'd been by more often. (And then even more often once she'd starting meeting regularly with Martin, though no one had commented.) She always came with sweets. Was always a delight to an office usually bleak with the latest murder.

She bustles in now with cards in hand, passing out invites to her mother's latest function. "For friends and family," she says, passing cards to Dani and JT. "Check your email, Mom already sent you one," she says when Malcolm looks offended to be left out. "And honorary Dad," she says, dropping a card on his desk. Her dad or Malcolm's she doesn't specify, and Gil doesn't ask. Just picks it up with a quiet, "Thank you."

As the clock ticks down, just a few minutes from midnight, the party naturally migrates to the balcony window. The ball drop is on the other side of town, but the television is within sight, and the snowfall outside is beautiful enough to watch alone. Gil taps his champagne flute and all eyes are on him. Dani, JT, Edrisa, and Malcolm stand to one side with their arms all looped around each other, and Ainsley and her latest girlfriend, Arianna, stand to the other side. (Though Malcolm briefly ducks out of his tangle of arms to grab champagne flutes for Dani and Ainsley who keep chugging theirs.)

"It's been a tough year, and we nearly lost a few of the people closest and dearest to us," he says, and the polycule all grips hands a little bit tighter. He doesn't have to remind them of their near breakup just a few months back. It's still raw, but they're healing. Mending. He’s so proud to see them stronger than ever.

"I'm so glad we're all here. Together. I'm glad to ring in the New Year with the people most important to me. I've known some of you for a long time," and he tips his flute to Malcolm and Ainsley, "And some of you are new," he nods to Arianna and Edrisa, "But all of you are irreplaceable." Dani and JT nod, and Gil ignores how JT's eyes rove down to his side where the buckshot scars still riddle his skin.

"To family," he says, and they chorus back, "To family!" as the ball drops and the fireworks explode. Gil sips his champagne and stares out at the snow -- a snippet of privacy for the couples all kissing in his living room.

He's brought back by a tug on his elbow, and Malcolm kisses his cheek. "Happy New Year," he says, and the other five are lined up behind him, each in turn giving him a hug and a kiss, and he laughs, bending down so even Edrisa can give him a kiss and a flustered, "Thank you Sir -- Dad -- Sir -- Happy -- Happy New Year."
