Blinking, he leans down to look at the flower pot clutched in his hands, nervously wondering if he'd already somehow messed this up. He'd been given this flower pot as a nice gift from Haru and he didn't want anything to happen to it!

Cautiously reaching a finger, he pokes the dirt in the centre, feeling a certain texture that's...rather unlike dirt, but feels different - more like a gelatin, like...

"Ditto...?!" He nearly jumps back, arms clutching the pot tightly to his chest as he looks down, giving a relieved sort of chuckle in knowing he hadn't quite messed things up - yet.

"Did you want to try to learn how to garden, too?"

ditto does a sad melt squish. it looks like ditto has been rather tired lately... it even looks paler compared to before, and maybe a little bit stickier... dehydrated, perhaps?

“Aaah! Ditto!”

Ditto does NOT look good, and Pegasus tried to pick up the poor Pokemon, frowning. “Maybe I should take you to a doctor...or a Pokemon Center. Which one’s closer...?”

He hoped it wasn’t anything too serious...

It places down it’s current dirt block, before picking up the newly found one…

“Looks like that did it! You’re hired!”

"Ditto, look out!"

Kaito leaps to his feet hearing the crack of the gun before he can register where it's coming from. He quickly shoves his companion out of the way before the shot can hit its mark, only to feel a searing pain in his shoulder instantly after the fact.

Kaito stumbles a bit, leaning against Ditto's larger form since it was still an Arcanine for support, the fluffy fur of the pokemon easing him just a bit. He loves animals after all, even if this was a superpowered shapeshifter disguised as an animal.

Ha, disguises. He and Ditto really do click don't they? Damn his shoulder hurts. He should probably put pressure on it. Where did that shot even come from?

The bear's eyes were glued on the ditto as it transformed. A sheet of sparkles of every color he could think of all decorating its abilities in such a beautiful way. It was like a magical girl transformation in real life! Teddie leaned in for a closer look. His mouth started to form a word that was never completed.

"You'll definitely fit right in now." His expression, while happy, could not control the slight hesitation in his voice.

Oh well. On with the show!

Teddie continued his path between the tall trees and grasses moved by gentle winds. No shadows were in the general vicinity but Teddie was maintaining a minimum level of alertness just in case. He did not know how they would react to the new visitor. With Teddie as the only being who could speak, his world was always quiet-especially in its uncorrupted state. But that didn't bother him usually. He came already with this in mind.

"I'm not doing much today. I don't feel anything dangerous so I decided on taking a walk." He assumed his new companion could understand him, "I was born here and I miss it sometimes when I don't visit for awhile."

On a nearby tree was a small, wooden swing. A few blades of grass and a single flower were on top in place of a person. Next to the tree was a red tricycle. Its wheels, while not entangled in the grass, were nearly covered by it.

          JC crouched down in front of the Ditto, offering the pokemon a small handful of pokebeans. Never seen it around Po Town before, maybe it had gotten lost?

Kirby had just finished a shift at the Waddle Dee cafe, which wasn’t easy considering how appetizing the food was and tempted it was to just eat all the food. BUT it was worth it - because it meant getting paid for money he could use for future meals, but also a free meal.

“Poyo?” Kirby offered a Kirby burger to Ditto, smiling.

♕ - ...Shoot. This wasn’t good. While the high paced antics were one thing, seeing a friend potentially get upset allows all the prior antics to be exhaled in a sudden breath. A hand raised, he gives his head a soft shake in response as he steps over towards them. “Hey hey, it’s not anything to be worrying your head too hard on there.”

“Me n’ my pals here were just up to antics per usual. C’mon though! Can’t keep a frown set on yourself either. I finally got that Pokepuffs recipe down, something I think you can definitely dig.”

Damn it all, I lost someone's ask

I saved it to draft (so I could deal with it at more length) and it vanished.

The person was saying they wanted to tank up on Young Wizards printed books but were having trouble, due to unavailability of all but "the first one", and prices for both hardcovers and trade paperbacks being all over the place at independent suppliers.

Briefly: this has been a problem for nearly the last decade, and more so since the books' US publisher (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) was ingested by another larger publisher.

Distribution on these books has always been dodgy, and frankly it's become more so over time, as their publisher keeps changing hands, staff leave or are fired, and sales staffs turn over. Additionally, all the books have appeared in multiple formats over the years, and not all of the books necessarily in all of those.

Confused yet? I know I am, and they're my damn books!

Dealing strictly with the Harcourt editions here: the first three appear only in mass-market paperbacks, with covers by two different artists. The fourth one then appears in mass market and an unusual small-format hardcover. Then (when the series took off with that publisher) all the MMPBs were repackaged, and (starting with the fifth one) were preceded by Harcourt hardcovers. Additionally, as the books were doing quite well in the early 2000s, the sales staff thought it would be a good idea if there were "digest format" editions aimed at younger readers. (These books were only physically larger than MMPBs, with bigger print: no text was ever Reader's-Digest-style abridged/condensed.) And there were only six of these, as the later books were thought to be "more adult" and hence not a good fit for this format.

After that, the remaining three books all went to hardcover-and-paperback, usually a year apart. The digest editions were allowed to gradually go out of print; so were the hardcovers, as demand for them fell off. And that's where we are at the moment, with (as far as I can tell) the MMPBs only being reprinted in small amounts when stocks fall low enough to warrant it.

This situation doesn't really support the books being easy to find. Additionally, older editions of the hardcovers from previous publishers (and older trade paperbacks, ditto) are still out there, and can be had... but at what will look like weirdly high prices. The early Dell hardcovers of So You Want To Be A Wizard, Deep Wizardry and High Wizardry, due to their small print runs, are rare, hard to find, and usually go for hundreds of dollars. (This link at Abebooks will show you what the situation's currently like for the Delacorte hardcover first edition of So You Want To Be A Wizard.) For a long time there was no US hardcover of A Wizard Abroad until SF Book Club published one set from the text of the UK Transworld/Corgi edition. (sigh) And so on. (There's a page over at the Young Wizards site dealing with this wild assortment of covers and formats.)

Now, all that said: Over at Signed Books Direct is our storefront for copies of both the newer and older books. Except for the rarest ones, we sell them at cover price (and are happy to do so, because FFS nobody needs this many of their own books). :) I acquired a lot of these from Harcourt when word came down that warehouse space was tight, stock was being winnowed, and I could have these on the cheap—or, it was heavily implied, they would be pulped. And as someone who due to a weird confluence of circumstances had half the print run of her (strongly-selling!) first novel pulped in the warehouse, the mere word, even after forty years, makes my blood run a bit cold. So I laid out the necessary cash and gave those books a home. And when people find ones they want, I sell them on to new homes with great pleasure.

So the thing for you to do (O person whose ask was in an evil hour eaten by Tumblr) is use the SBD contact email on this page to query me about what you're looking for. I'm presently in the middle of reorganizing the store's inventory so it reflects what we've actually got. The website's about to be reorganized to reflect what's on the shelves in the boot room, but that's not gonna happen this week.. so don't take what you see on the site seriously. the way the batfam webtoon illustrates bat fam is pretty much exactly how I'd always pictured them all in my head (but funnily enough never how they looked in the actual comics). What is your head cannon for how they all look?

i also tend to align with the WFA character designs in general! especially jason, that’s the jason in my head. very handsome & wears a belt bag just like mine 💪 i also appreciate that WFA, unlike a lot of the traditional comics, is pretty clear on the fact that damian is not white.

beyond that/more specifically, i always picture tim as @tigerjpg’s tim and @mammutblog’s tim. (side note: ditto for diana.) i also tend to headcanon tim as trans. also in line with mammutblog’s design, i picture steph with some curves/tummy rolls (not sure if they posted that art but it was v cute). cass always has her medium-length haircut when i picture her. babs is oracle babs. i know canonically dick has blue eyes but in my mind they’re brown. most important thing to me about bruce is that once the cowl comes off, no matter how exhausted and beat up he is he’s just undeniably pretty, for maximum vibe shift.

beyond the batfam, kon in my mind is almost always leather jacket flavor kon, and he has curly hair + the earring (if not multiple earrings). i also differ with WFA on bart & cassie’s designs for sure; i see bart closer to his usual comics vibe (big wild hair!) and cassie has short hair/leans butch a la some of cryptocism and coralreefskim’s cassies. clark looks like MAWS clark + @januariat’s clark (the ones of farm boy clark from a while ago have lived rent free in my head ever since i saw them).

there are also so many incredible fan artists with different takes on these characters that make me go !!! that’s them!! so while i have defaults in my mind i am always just happy to see a really cool interpretation/redesign. if official comics can have 50 different appearances for the same character then i think fan artists can have 500 different improved versions of those characters and i’m here for it.
