Literally sobbing thinking about how Avatar: The Last Airbender was the first show with a plot I ever watched. Sure I watched other shows before but it was like Dora and Teletubbies, Avatar was my first real show.

And I can’t stop thinking about how impactful it was as a little girl. The fact that in the First Episode Katara is belittled for being just a girl, and she fights like hell showing how powerful girls can be. And us watching Sokka grow as he learns about the kyoshi warriors. The famous “I am a warrior, but I’m a girl too” line from Suki. And the season finally with Katara fighting Paku for a right to learn. That anger Katara felt was something I related to even as I was about to turn 6. I knew what it felt like being treated differently, and it felt good seeing that righteous anger portrayed and being rewarded. Katara fought and was allowed to learn

That show really shaped part of how I saw the world around me. I am so so grateful that I grew up with not only strong female characters, but strong female characters who were actively fighting sexism in the show! Avatar: The Last Airbender is a masterpiece in so many ways, this is just the one on my mind <3

It saddens me to think about how toxic the A:TLA fandom is specifically. A:TLA is a show with a big heart and a lot of love in it. It pains me to see how we all gathered around this sunshine of a show... only to treat each other like this.

At the end of the day, Ka or zk or even both, unhappy with the finale or happy with it, anti azula or pro azula, and whatever opinion you have, WHO CARES? It shouldn't matter. We are all here to celebrate something about this show that's just full of love but we don't treat each other with half the love put into the show and I hate that.

Azula was probably lying when she was stalling Sokka during that Eclipse. Those Kyoshi Warriors are smart enough to not expose how close their relationship with Team Avatar actually is, and Suki definitely wouldn’t be lamenting about Sokka rescuing her to her captors. Sokka is from The Southern Water Tribe, and has been travelling with Aang. The odds on Sokka knowing somebody who was captured by The Fire Nation are extremely high. Azula probably made up a fake prisoner, kept those details extremely vague, and then kept absolutely fucking silent, and then let Sokka’s imagination, and his fear, fill in the rest of that.
