I learned something fascinating this evening.

In Egyptian mythology, Apep, the god of chaos and darkness who could take the form of a snake, devours the sun god, Ra. Apep's Greek equivalent is Erebus/Erebos, with whom Aaravos shares a similar name, and who is referenced on Aaravos' official TDP wiki page.

And what did Aaravos, the chaotic elf with a snake-esque familiar who gifted dark magic to humanity, do? Swallowed the sun queen.

I love mythology.

PSA to all Viravos shippers: your ship is canon in Dutch

So I've been blessed with a new teaching job in the Netherlands (no that's not off topic), and because I'm a good teacher and a serious person I was brushing up on my language skills and decided to watch tdp in Dutch. I must say I am *blown away* by the voice acting, which is incredibly accurate and true to the original.

So in season 3 ep 6, Soren calls Aaravos Viren's "kleine rupsvriendje" (or "insectenvriendje" in the subtitles), which is the translation for "little bug pal", or more accurately "little caterpillar friend". HOW-EV-ER, "vriendje" is a fun little word that means both "little friend" and boyfriend, which honestly gives a whole new, hilarious meaning to the scene, like:

Viren's like "yea let's call him that why the hell not"

Aaravos is totally rolling with it with his next line, "has our relationship escalated to that point" 👀👀👀👀

This is a translation masterpiece, give these people a raise 🙏 I'm not even a Viravos shipper but... Well now they're canon in Dutch.

TDP S6 poster!!!

let's see what we've got in this one! omgomgomg

this won't make a lot of sense, I'm just gushing

First impressions: there is a LOT of magic going on in this poster, and most of it seems to be Moon magic, which Aaravos is casting from his cool book.

There are moon moths everywhere!

Ethari's lotuses are everywhere too!

Some of them are breaking. Some of them have vivid colors coming from them. They could be from the differently colored crystals they all have.

There are also a large number of spirits in the picture!

There's also a red colored spirit, uh oh:

Is this one looking at the white one, do they see each other?

Aaravos has a full moon behind him, and his cube has a blazing moon rune on it. I'm not sure how many other moon themes this poster can hold, are we missing any?

Of interest, there's a thematic similarity to the key art we got of Rayla jumping into the Moon Nexus, where the lower left was dark and creepy with lost spirit arms and the upper right was lighter with the arms of her family reaching for her. In this art, those corners are again the darkest and lightest:

And then there's the man himself. His eyes are glowing bright with magic, he's got his bling on. And it's hard to be certain since we can't see his chest well but it's likely that his star is lit, as it gets when he casts magic.

Okay let's take a quick peek at what is actually happening in this poster. Aaravos is casting magic from the book. It's pouring out of the cool crescent-moon portal thingy there and swirling around.

eta: it's actually connecting the rune cube to the book, but I'm not sure which way the connection is flowing. But he seems to have plugged the cube in, and it is called the Key of Aaravos. Is this book the thing of great power that gets unlocked in Xadia?

And behind him, across the top of the art, you can see something else: a weaving of thick white strands.

What is he actually doing? Is he weaving them, or unweaving them? Is he just releasing three elves from their coins? This looks way more powerful - and destructive - than that. Is he releasing all the spirits ever? Why are there so many spirits in this picture?? Where are they from? Are they also trapped? Were they crossed over? Is he breaking the whole duality of life and death?

Aaravos wouldn't bother casting a measly little spell just to free three elves from coins just because Callum asks him to, not when he could flex stylishly and get something he also wants out of the deal.

Remember when he helped Viren get past Lux Aurea? He didn't have to kill Khessa and poison the Sunforge to help Viren reach Zym. But his method got the caterpillar a burst of primal magic so it could start growing, it stopped the Sunfire forces from retaliating, it gave him some form of payback on Aditi's bloodline, and it stopped the Sunfire elves from being able to use the Sunforge on anyone else corrupted with dark magic. Plus it netted him Pharos and made Viren trust him even more. It was indeed elegant and efficient.

So he's probably doing something on that level again here. Sure, Callum may have given him an opening to help Rayla's family out. But Aaravos will stop when Aaravos decides to stop, and not before. If Callum makes a deal to free three souls that he can't get out of their coins on his own, then Aaravos can definitely work with that.

But he thinks bigger. If Callum wants three souls freed, that's easy enough. But why stop at three? It's so inefficient. Maybe he attacks the Moon Nexus next, and makes it volcano out all the souls it's ever held and looses them on the world in some kind of spirit plague. Job still done, deal met, requirements satisfied. And while the mortals scramble to deal with his mess, he just does whatever he has planned next. All the better that he did something so big that no one can step away from cleaning it up to try to stop him!

Anyway. Art gives me thoughts. Very excited about this poster and its moontastic implications for S6!

Hi it's me again! I was wondering if you could do a Yandere Aaravos refusing to let go if his reincarnated Lover aka reader after losing them in elarion??

Hello again! And yes! I’ve been waiting for a Aaravos request for so long 🤩.

Warning: noob author, , yandere romantic character and others.

Character: Aaravos.

You were a simple servant to Viren, you mostly take care of dusting and straightening things that were out of place and needed fixing, unaware of the eyes of a invisible; with Viren being the one to see him, startouch elf named Aaravos.

Aaravos soon realized that you’re the reincarnation of his past lover which he lost long ago when he was still free and not stuck in that mirror he is in now

Aaravos decided to manipulate Viren to get you to help out more around viren’s office so that he could see you more and learn what new things you liked as there was new things made that weren’t in existence in the past when you were still his lover before you died.

While you do your job you notice that a little caterpillar like creature appear when you’re in lord viren’s office, you decided to let the little crawl up your finger so that you could hold it but wasn’t expecting it to crawl faster up you arm to your neck and around your ear before a deep voice started to speak.

The deep male voice kept saying how he’ll have in his arms again and that he’ll never let you go again along with how you’ll never leave him again and not even death will take you after he has you in his hands, you were fearful about all of this but didn’t know what to do as you needed a job to have a stable life and this was the only one with good pay as far as you were aware, you decided to keep quiet unless it escalates to more trouble then you would tell lord Viren about the caterpillar creature, though what you didn’t know was that your choice on leaving it be was a bad decision on your part.

Aaravos began on making sure to execute his plan faster and more calculated seeing as you were put into the mix which was unexpected even for him, so he has to make sure he doesn’t lose you again.

Though he did find a spell that could bring you into the mirror and decided that, that was the better course of action as he can keep a better eye on you, make sure you don’t run off, get injured or worse, and so he can finally have you in his arms after so many centuries since your passing.

Also I can’t wait until season 6 and hope we get to see more Aaravos and his past cause i feel like he isn’t doing all of this just for fun especially after seeing some pictures of Aaravos that I believe is for the next season, also I really hope I get more Aaravos as I love this man even though he’s a villain 😍 lol and I know some of y’all can agree with me, also I’m hoping to create a book for this man sooner or later so wish me luck 😁, anyway hope y’all have a wonderful day/evening/night!!)

So...did Aaravos have the ability to astral project to Claudia in order to help her at least start to complete the Infantis Sanguine spell? Since the prison was with Team Zym by that point. Probably on the crab boat.

I'm sure once Sparklepuff was out he would no longer be able to communicate with her.

Much like the FIRST TIME when it was time for Sparklepuff to cocoon up from big ol caterpillar mode. After he had been guiding her for TWO YEARS through the Star Caterpillar mode.

There's so much to unpack here on both of their ends, but man. Looking at Aaron's(?) comment about how their filling missing voids in each other will be tragic FOR BOTH OF THEM.

TDP theories time!

These are all about Aaravos!

Y’all remember in Season 3 when Aaravos killed Khessa by practically vaporizing her with just a slip of his finger?

And in Season 4, when Zubeia was telling Ezran and Rayla about Aaravos and about how Luna Tenebrus mysteriously died? And when we watch the backstory sequence we see her disappear just like that? What if the way he killed Khessa was the same exact way he killed Luna? 😩😭

Moving on from that, I know there’s differing views on how Aaravos would be able to corrupt/possess Callum ranging from him needing Callum to use dark magic again to the fact that he has other ways to corrupt like he did with getting Pharos bit by the star caterpillar.

Thinking back to Season 5 with the corrupted banthers and how even a scratch from them would result in corruption really got me thinking. WHAT IF AARAVOS COULD JUST CORRUPT CALLUM WITH JUST A SCRATCH!! 😭😭

Heck, I’m scared that even him just laying a finger on Callum and just touching him could be enough at this point. 😭😫

Especially after seeing him released from his prison and literally being a whole freaking titan, coupled with seeing what he did to Khessa and all of Lux Aurea while he was still imprisoned, I’m really terrified of what this startouch elf will be capable of now that he’s free 😭😫

What happens when you die and you have holes in your soul?

So Kosmo says this:

Later, when Rayla is about to go into the Moon Nexus, Lujanne says this:

And in the Spirit Realm, Rayla tells Runaan this:

Now this is predicated on "spirit" = "soul" and that something with a corrupted emptiness is essentially the same as something being incomplete.

So, if the coins do not actually trap the entire soul, and Dark Magic is taking a little bit of the caster's spirit with it, is the Spirit Realm full of Dark Mages who are effectively dead but whose spirits are incomplete and can't move on?

It would also explain whatever the hell THIS was:

Aaravos wrapped up a snack to eat later.

The suggestion here, therefore, would be that Rayla has just encountered Viren's corrupted soul the same way she encountered Runaan's. What complicates her encounter with Viren is that, as far as we know, Viren properly died when he fell from the Storm Spire; he was not a so-called "living spirit," as Aaravos put it. So either Aaravos did something to trap part of Viren's soul without him knowing (like the caterpillar) or him having used Dark Magic was enough. Viren is also wrapped in a cocoon when Rayla finds him and it's unclear whether that's a natural spiritual existence for him or if some outside force has purposely done something to keep him in place.

"Death Alive" certainly makes me think the Spirit Realm will feature heavily or at least importantly in the final season. And that, in conjunction with the season being called "Dark," makes me think that there could be some sort of association there that Aaravos may be looking to exploit.
