🌿🌼 Happy Skandha Shashti 🌼🌿Worship Subramanya and Shashti DeviKumaraswamy who was born from the brightness of Lord Shiva for the killing of Tarakasura. Subramanya Swamy marriage with Srivalli Devasena on the day of Skandha Shashti. On the day of Subramanya Shashti, Kaavadi will be offered to Swami with milk and sugar. Subramanya Swamy was born on the day of Margashira Shuddashashashti as per the wish of the gods for the killing of Tarakasura. This shashti is known as Subramanya shashti or Skanda shashti. The demon named Tarakasurudu, who sought the blessings of Lord Shiva, has received the gift of immortality with others except Baluni. With this, the gods will go to Vishnu and shout at him as he is invincible and immortal. Srihari informed that Tarakasuru will die because of the son of Paramasiva who gave birth and asked to go to Adidev to enquire about the problem. As the gods prayed to Lord Shiva, they realized the severity of the problem and with his element, Subramanya Swamy became the reason for the birth.According to the myths.. The divine glory of Lord Shiva entered into Vayudeva and then Vayudeva made him enter into fire. Even fire could not lock Shiva's Tejas and left it in the river Ganga, a boy was born with six faces (Shanmukhas) and twelve hands trapped in Rudratejam flow. He is Subramanya Swamy or Kumara Swamy. Goddesses have made Kumaraswamy their army chief. Kumaraswamy fought with Tarakasuru for six days and killed him. Subramanya Swamy who saved the world and gods and got the praise of everyone has been glorified as Devasenapathi. On the day of Subramanya Shashti, devotees will get up and take a bath in Talantu and wear cavidas filled with milk and sugar and present them to Subramanya Swamy. They will visit temples and perform poojas of eight hundred names with devotion. The devotees will offer the sugar and milk brought with Kaavadis to Swami. But the things in this Kaavadi will be based on the faces of the devotees. Especially this ritual is specially practiced in Tamil Nadu.On the day of Skanda Shashti, along with Sri Valli Devasena, Subrahmanyaswamy Kalyanam will be conducted. If unmarried people see this marriage, the obstacles will be removed and marriages will take place.. Elders are saying that not only that, there will be children. On this special day, if Subramanya Swamy pooja is performed or offered Kaavadi, you will get the Satsanthana. It is believed that for the coming generations also, there will be dynasty development without the lack of children. That is why women visit Subramanya Swamy temples mostly. It is believed that if you pour milk in the putta today, the serpentine diseases will be removed. On the day of Skanda Shashti, all the good wishes will come to the devotees who perform Subrahmanyaswamy marriage.Worship Om Sri Shasti DeviOm sham saravanabhavaOm sham saravanabhava

1. Late
Unedited
Masterlist
Of course it was late. Of course everybody was already in their homes getting ready for bed. It was 11 pm. So of course everybody was ending their day, well everybody but Y/n. How could her day end when her husband was yet to return from duty.
She had half a mind to go to the station and drag him back home. No one could do that in Raj and she wasn't about to test those limits.
It would have been so much better if he was a farmer or bank accountant, why did he have to be a police officer.
The job was dangerous, uncertain and stressful. Not to mention even with his capabilities, he had to face racism as well. He usually came home with face bashed, bloody hands, gashed feet but always went back to his post the next morning.
He didn't really talk much but he constantly dropped hints of his iron strong determination. Once he set eyes to a goal, he achieved it. Whenever he was home Y/n try to engage him conversations and once in a while he'd let go and entertain her, answer her, tell her stuff she enjoyed. Once in a while he would talk and in the fewest possible words he'd reveal his will to her. He respected women, unlike her many many uncles and brothers he never once used force on her. He treated her fairly well.
She had grown up seeing her mother and other women of the household being silenced by the men. He didn't mind. He had never asked to stay quiet with the aggression she knew was in him.
So yes, Y/n was majorly conflicted whenever he came home late. It usually meant he was out hurting people for simply wanting to breathe freely.
"Adidev, why couldn't he be normal person? If he was putting himself in danger every second of his life for our motherland, I'd be more at peace than I am right now."
Y/n got up from the armchair and stepped out of the main door to see the street. Quiet as it was, the darkness that enveloped the earth made her heart thump faster.
She sat on the dehri and started fanning herself with the pallu.
She could curse whoever said time flies by. Time definitely didn't fly by, it stretched out till her heart came to her throat. It was 12:30 and her husband was still God only knew where.
She almost stood up relieved as a figure appeared in the distance. Finally.
Eagerly She collected her pallu and schooled an aloof expression, ready to scold her dear husband.
As the figure came closer, she picked on how lean it was unlike Ram. "Chandra?"
"Ji bhabhi, why are you our here? Is Ram not home yet?"
Nodding her head in a slight no, Y/n turned her back to the street.
"Bhagwaan hi jaane, why does he not come home to such a beautiful wife? If you ask me, I haven't seen anybody more beautiful than bhabhi but I haven't seen much, have I? Maybe there is someone fairer looking?"
Y/n hadn't even realized Chandra's wife was right behind him. The woman didn't have a subtle bone in her body. She knew that when she first came to this neighborhood after marriage. Today she realized, kindness wasn't there either.
But could she blame them, could she defend him; it was twenty minutes to one and her other half hadn't shown his face. He hadn't informed her or sent a word. She could say, "It might very well be his duty that held him back," but that wouldn't make a very good counter either.
She knew it because she thought so as well, only difference being she saw how he wasn't a completely horrible person, his work made him so. Of course nobody would concur with such logic, in the past people had openly asked him to leave it and offered him a place at their factories, workplace which he had refused politely, sometimes.
She didn't turn, only listened on as her neighbor dragged his wife home. Instead of sitting back on the dehri, she went in sat on stool in the veranda, slightly rubbing her back.
With so much household work, Y/n never managed to find time to rest during the day, which made her back ache when she stayed up late.
"Ram please hurry," She whispered and started to pace around, unable to sit still.
As the clock struck one, Y/n's had enough. Locking the doors behind her, she stepped in her sandals and started walking towards Akhtar's neighborhood. If anyone could know where Ram was at this point, it was Akhtar.
It was almost fifteen minutes aways from their place and she managed to run and make it faster it felt. She took a step to knock but hesitated.
It's late, he must be asleep. But Ram? What if he doesn't know? I should've gone to the station first.
Disregarding her thoughts she rapped on the door. "Akhtar!"
"Bhaiya!"
Her throat tightened amd her eyes got moist all of sudden.
"Bhaiya please! Open up!"
She couldn't speak, her voice won't come out. She felt if she tried to make sound she would break down then and there. So Y/n continued knocking till she saw a sliver of light come from, under the door.
"Bhaiya!"
She prayed that he would hear her whispers and open faster.
"Bhabhi! Kya Hua?" Her vision blurred more and she blurted out, "Ram! He hasn't come home yet! Do you know where he is?"
She took in a couple of deep breath but her throat won't lighten. It felt like it was a vice like grip, like somebody was squeezing her up. Anxiety that had pooled in her stomach for hours now threatened to snap.
She coughed violently due to nausea.
"Bhabhi, bhabhi you sit. Sit here and drink some water. I'll go look for him, ha?" Akhtar hastily handed her a glass.
He'll go find him. He'll go find him. Y/n repeated it like a sacred chant. He'll go find him.
"Wait Akhtar, you don't know where he is either?"
Her heart could burst out of her body and she wouldn't have been surprised, she had never felt her heart go this fast before.
Akhtar slightly shook his head and went out running.
She wanted to follow him, but she didn't if she could. She had barely made it to his house. Her legs felt like they would give out the second she tried to get up.
Adidev, please, keep him safe. Wherever he is, keep him safe. Please, keep him safe. I'll keep eleven nirjala Pradosh. Just keep him safe and bring him to me. Adidev, bring me my Ram.
***
Birds started singing around, signaling the early morning. Akhtar wasnt back yet and neither was Ram.
Y/n got up from the cot silently and walked out of the house. Today was trayodashi and she was going to follow up on her promise to Adidev.
Walking back home felt like going back to a prison, where everything haunts you. Where your own mind circles on you and kicks you down.
As she was unlocking, Sanjeev from the third house on the street came about.
"Bhabhi? Ram bhaiya didn't come home to you at night? What kind of a duty keeps away a loyal husband from his obedient wife?"
There was no use giving him a befitting reply because there wasn't one. What could she say that the kind of duty that requires you to be vigilant and alert and always working to protect the citizens. Only the British police was not vigilant and alert and always working to protect the citizens, it was working to protect the Raj.
It was protecting murderers, oppressors, criminals. She couldn't defend Ram's job without defending the Empire and she would die a thousand d deaths, bear a thousand such nights before she would do that.
Y/n respected her husband enough to stay shut in public where everyone was looking for reasons to taunt him, she didnt agree with him but she had promised him her support. Her opinions would not become the source of questions he had to put up from the people. Not today.
Especially not when being his apologist meant being the British apologist.
Quickly fetched water and bathed.
With a towel in her hair and a floral white saree on her body, she entered puja to prepare a thaal.
With belapatri, fruits and Aarti she stepped out, only to see Ram engaged in a conversation with Akhtar.
She could've hugged him, slapped him, pulled his ears in that moment.
"Nice of you to finally show you face," both men stopped and looked at her. Akhtar wide eyed just stepped out, smartly.
Ram at least had a sense to look contrite. "Y/n-" He took a step forward to touch her.
"No, you could've sent a word, told me; I don't know at least told Akhtar something but no, Ramraju is petty petty man who doesn't think of his wife once," she stepped back and circled around him to go out.
She could he stepped forward again.
"God! Man, don't you see that I have a thaal in my hands? At least bathe before you even think of touching me."
He blinked slowly and backed away, "Acha meri Maa, but at least let your husband and say sorry before you go ranting your mother's rules to me.
Y/n I am sorry, I should've told you. It did not slip my mind. I just didn't know what to say."
"That you had work?"
"I did have work. To get information out of a few people. I know you never like hearing that, and you never like half news that I sometimes try to give you."
She swore she would've hugged him if he was half an hour early. At this
point she was just mad at herself. She was more relieved to see him well than she was sad to hear what he had to do.
"Don't you dare go into my kitchen before you have a bath."
