Why Investing in Custom WordPress Themes Is Beneficial
Establishing a unique and professional online presence is essential for businesses and individuals in the current digital landscape. WordPress stands out for its flexibility and user-friendly interface when building a website. One of the key decisions you need to make when setting up a WordPress site is whether to use a premade theme or invest in a custom WordPress theme. This article explores why custom WordPress themes are worth the investment and how they can benefit your online presence.
Introduction to WordPress Themes
What Are WordPress Themes? WordPress themes are pre-designed templates that determine the look and functionality of your website. They control everything from the layout to the color scheme and typography, making them a critical aspect of your site's design.
Types of WordPress Themes: Free and Premium are two primary types of WordPress themes. Free themes are available at no cost and offer basic design and functionality, while premium themes come with more advanced features and support, typically at a price. However, both free and premium themes are often not tailored to meet the specific needs of your business.
The Drawbacks of Pre-Made Themes
Limited Customization Pre-made themes can be limiting in terms of customization. While they may look great out of the box, making significant changes to suit your brand can be challenging without extensive coding knowledge.
Performance Issues Pre-made themes frequently include unnecessary features and functionalities, resulting in bloated code. This can slow down your site, negatively impacting user experience and SEO rankings.
Security Concerns Pre-made themes are widely used, making them more susceptible to security vulnerabilities. Hackers often target common themes, increasing the risk of your website being compromised.
Benefits of Custom WordPress Themes
Unique Design A custom WordPress theme is designed specifically for your brand, ensuring that your website stands out from the competition. It allows for a unique design that aligns with your brand identity, making a lasting impression on your visitors.
Tailored Functionality A custom theme provides features and functionalities designed specifically for your requirements. This ensures that your website performs exactly how you want it to, providing a seamless user experience.
Improved Performance Custom themes are built with clean, optimized code, which improves your website's performance. Faster loading times lead to better user engagement and higher search engine rankings.
Enhanced Security Since custom themes are unique to your site, they are less likely to be targeted by hackers. Additionally, custom themes can be built with the latest security practices in mind, providing an extra layer of protection for your website.
The Investment in Custom WordPress Themes
Cost Considerations Investing in a custom WordPress theme can be more expensive upfront compared to purchasing a premium theme. Despite higher initial costs, the long-term benefits like improved performance and security make the investment worthwhile.
Finding the Right Developer To get the most out of a custom WordPress theme, it's essential to hire a skilled developer who understands your needs and can deliver a high-quality product. Seek out developers with strong portfolios and positive client reviews.
Real-World Examples of Custom Themes
Case Study 1: E-Commerce Website An online store invested in a custom WordPress theme to provide a unique shopping experience. The custom theme included tailored product pages, seamless checkout processes, and advanced search functionality, resulting in increased sales and customer satisfaction.
Case Study 2: Corporate Website A corporate website needed a professional and modern look to attract potential clients. The custom WordPress theme was designed with the company's branding in mind, featuring a sleek layout and interactive elements that enhanced the user experience.
How to Get Started with Custom WordPress Themes
Define Your Requirements Before contacting a developer, clearly outline your website's requirements. Consider the design elements, functionalities, and user experience you want to achieve.
Budget Planning Determine your budget for the custom theme project. Keep in mind that while custom themes can be more expensive, they offer significant long-term benefits.
Choosing a Developer Research and choose a developer who has experience creating custom WordPress themes. Look at their previous work and ensure they understand your vision and goals.
Collaborating with Your Developer Work closely with your developer throughout the design and development process. Provide feedback and make sure the final product meets your expectations.
Conclusion
Investing in a custom WordPress theme is a smart decision for anyone looking to create a unique and professional online presence. While the initial cost may be higher than using a pre-made theme, the long-term benefits of improved performance, security, and user experience make it worthwhile. By working with a skilled developer, you can create a website that truly represents your brand and meets your specific needs.

4. Can I update a custom WordPress theme myself? Yes, with proper documentation and guidance from your developer, you can manage and update your custom theme. However, major changes may require the assistance of a developer. 5. How long does it take to develop a custom WordPress theme? The development time can vary based on the complexity of the project. I really like my blog and I don't want Tumblr to do down. I have a blog on wordpress where I pay for my own domain, but it's a completely different type of space. And I tag differently. If this disappears one day, it will leave a large hole...

What Are the Benefits of WordPress Development?
INTRODUCTION
WordPress development" is a term that describes the activities involved in building, modifying, and sustaining a website by utilizing the WordPress platform. WordPress is a widely-used content management system (CMS) that enables users to manage their website content easily. This platform provides users with various tools and features that can be customized to suit their specific needs. The development process may involve creating a new website from scratch, or modifying an existing one to improve its functionality or appearance.
WordPress development typically involves designing and customizing themes, installing and configuring plugins, creating and managing content, optimizing the website for search engines, and ensuring the security and stability of the site. WordPress development enables users to create and maintain a professional, user-friendly website that meets their unique requirements. Lets us now discuss some of the benefits of using wordpress for website development.
Advantages of Wordpress Development
1. User-friendly interface
The user interface of WordPress is designed to be user-friendly, which means that it is easy for people who need more technical knowledge to use. WordPress provides a simple and intuitive dashboard that allows users to create and manage website content using a visual editor. Users can create pages, posts, and other content by simply clicking clickingecting options from drop-down menus.
The visual editor in WordPress allows users to format text, add images and videos, and customize their content layout without knowing how to write code. This means thatEventtle or no technical knowledge can create professional-looking websites using WordPress.
2. Customizable
WordPress is a highly customizable platform that allows users to modify the design and functionality of their website to suit their needs. This is achieved through the use of themes and plugins.
Themes are pre-designed templates that can be installed on a WordPress website to change its appearance. There are thousands of themes available, both free and paid, which cater to a wide range of industries and website types. Themes typically include customization options, such as the ability to change colors, fonts, and layouts, allowing users to create a unique look and feel for their website.
3. SEO Friendly
One way that WordPress is SEO-friendly is through its ability to add meta tags. Meta tags provide information about a webpage to search engines and can help improve the website's search engine ranking. WordPress allows website owners to easily add meta tags such as the title, description, and keyword tags to their website pages.
Another way that WordPress is SEO-friendly is through its ability to generate sitemaps. A sitemap is a file that lists all the pages on a website and helps search engines crawl and index the website's pages. WordPress allows website owners to easily generate a sitemap for their website, which can help improve the website's visibility on search engines.
4. Mobile Responsive
Mobile responsive design is a key aspect of modern web development. With more and more people accessing the internet through their mobile devices, websites must be designed to be mobile-friendly. This is where WordPress development comes in.
WordPress themes are designed to be mobile responsive, which means they are optimized to look great and function properly on all devices, including smartphones and tablets. This is achieved through a combination of flexible layouts, scalable images, and optimized code that adapts to the size of the screen.
Mobile responsiveness is important for several reasons. First, it ensures that website visitors have a good user experience, regardless of their device. Websites that are not mobile responsive can be difficult to navigate on small screens, leading to frustration and a high bounce rate.
Secondly, mobile responsiveness is important for search engine optimization (SEO). Google and other search engines prioritize mobile-friendly websites, meaning they are more likely to appear higher in search results. This can lead to increased traffic and better visibility for your website.
5. Community Support:
The WordPress community comprises developers, designers, bloggers, and users who collaborate to create and share resources that make it easier to use and customize WordPress websites. This community is known for its inclusivity, diversity, and willingness to help others.
One of the WordPress community's main benefits is its abundance of resources. Thousands of themes and plugins are available, created by developers from all over the world, that can be used to customize a website's design and functionality. Additionally, numerous online tutorials, forums, and support groups provide guidance and assistance to users of all levels of experience.
The WordPress community also plays a key role in developing WordPress itself. The platform is open-source, meaning that anyone can contribute to its development and improvement. This has led to the creation of numerous plugins, themes, and updates that make WordPress more powerful and user-friendly.
Conclusion
WordPress development is a popular choice for building websites due to its flexibility, ease of use, and powerful features.

It's Harder to Stab When You're Being Punched in the Face
Peruse, if you will, what I believe is one of the first press releases from the Harris campaign, released after a Fox News appearance by Donald Trump earlier today: Two points to make here. The first is that not only are the gloves off, they were never on in the first place. The second is that one advantage that the GOP had in the last two election cycles — the presumption that the Democrats…

HI AMORRRRRRRR <33
your wordpress event is so fun!! lowk a really smart way to get web traffic for the project. wishing you the very very best with it :)
might i perchance trade a like + subscribe to your wordpress for some hoshina headcanons?
hihi leo!! thank you sm for supporting my little wordpress uni event, so here's some boykisser hoshina for you !! male! reader. i support the bi/gay hoshina agenda as a boykisser boy myself.
SOSHIRO HOSHINA . . . IS THE CLOSET GLASS?
— hoshina isn't really out, but some can infer that he's not straight at all by how he speaks of a future relationship, always leaning for "spouse" or "partner" than gendered terms. some just dismiss it as formality, though. it was during a night out where he and narumi were drunk and discussing their types that he said "well, don't think i'd go for a civillian, he'd have to be on the field with me." and he knew he fucked up when narumi said "he?"
— now it's after this that narumi pressures him into spilling that there's someone in narumi's team that he's had his eye on, but that's where he stops. what a coincidence, that next week's training is a joint training between first and third divisions, and narumi is eyeing him like a hawk. because he wants to see hoshina make a fool of himself. which he does. because narumi arranges a sparring session with you and hoshina, and he's sweating bullets.
— hoshina pulls his punches, and you notice. you're like "vice captain? are you holding back?” and hoshina tries to play it cool with “course i am, babe. wouldn’t want yer ass cryin’ at the nurses now, wouldn’t we?” and he realizes what he said. and narumi hears. and everyone hears. hoshina plays it off because how did he mix up bub and babe. and he loves the fact you can’t say anything about it because he’s a superior officer.
— it takes him a month of prying info off of his worst enemy aka narumi to get your number (for training purposes) and to see if you are a boykisser. which you are. and once he catches on he’s so glad to hear it, being quick to ask you for more sparring sessions as an excuse to see you again. with dinner paid by him after, of course. he takes advantage of sparring to have your face millimeters away from his, and disguise his growing blush on his face as exhaustion.

Published December 23, 2020 via Wordpress. Constructing the Best Line in Hockey - by Grant Rhines (archived)
*Be advised there is a hyperlinked article within this article for additional reading about the author's models and the link was str8 borked last time I tried to click it. Man how do you fuck that up it's a link to your own article?? Anyways here is the live link, here is the archived version.
Some player archetypes/play styles of NHL forwards, pulled from the article (image tucked under the cut):
All-Around Offensive Playmaker -> A versatile offensive skater. Does not boast the same superb shooting ability as Puck Dominant Scorers, but excels in all things offense. Not a very physical skater. -> Strengths: G/100, Assist Rate, GV/100. -> Weaknesses: Hit Rate, Block Rate. -> Examples: 2014-15 John Tavares, 2010-11 lyla Kovalchuk.
Physical Opportunity Maker -> Instead of choosing to help their fellow linesmen by passing, these skaters take a more physical approach to the game. Not quite as defense-focused as Defense Heavy Forwards. -> Strengths: Hit Rate, Block Rate. -> Weaknesses: G/100, SAtt./100. -> Examples: 2018-19 Elias Lindholm, 2014-15 David Backes.
Defense Heavy Forward -> A forward almost entirely dedicated to the defensive side of the sport. As a result, these skaters provide very little offense contributions, but outclass everyone in physicality. -> Strengths: Hit Rate, Block Rate. -> Weaknesses: G/100, SAtt./100 Assist Rate. -> Examples: 2017-18 Leo Komarov, 2011-12 P.A. Parenteau.
Offensive Set-Up Man -> The proverbial "wingmen" of a line. Focus on composing advantageous situations rather than capitalizing on them themselves, though they still maintain a decent offensive presence. -> Strengths: Assist Rate, Takeaway Rate. -> Weaknesses: SAtt./100, Hit Rate. -> Examples: 2018-19 Aleksander Barkov, 2015-16 Mark Stone.
Puck Dominant Scorer -> The strongest shooters in all of hockey, they also do not mind getting physical. Most possessions revolve about setting these players up for success. -> Strengths: G/100, SAtt./100. -> Weaknesses: Assist Rate, Block Rate. -> Examples: 2016-17 Vincent Trocheck, 2012-13 Evander Kane.
Key: G/100: Number of goals scored per 100 offensive possessions. GV/100: Number of giveaways scored per 100 offensive possessions. SAtt./100: Number of shot attempts scored per 100 offensive possessions. Assist Rate: Percentage of goals that a player assisted in while on ice. Face-Off Rate: Percentage of face-offs that a player participated in while on ice. Takeaway Rate: Percentage of takeaways that a player took credit for while on ice. Block Rate: Percentage of blocked shots that a player took credit for stopping while on ice. Hit Rate: Percentage of hits that a player took credit for while on ice.
The first observation we can make is that none of the styles I identified earlier are insignificant. In other words, one of them have a small effect on their line’s efficiency—positive or negative. Though obvious, this means there is no position that should be written out of this analysis. Secondly, the proportion of Defense Heavy Forwards (DHF) present in a cluster distribution is the most important determinant of a line’s success, rather than the much more potent Puck Dominant Scorers (PDS). This finding is pretty interesting, considering I believe PDS are usually treated as the most influential skaters on the ice.

#please see the whole thing!! it's not long but i left a lot of the meat of it out#just thought the archetype descriptions were quite fun and wanted them here on myblog <3#guy could use a bit of data viz wizardry on his side i think this would fuck so hard as like. one of those trait pentagons#* edited so that it's . more readable for tumblr users not wanting to squint at an image.#puck!research#p!res:forwards#p!res:analytics#long post

the tl;dr
IRON CROWN as a free comic is now off of wordpress and can be viewed by a neat, robust HTML/CSS/JS comic template called rarebit! effectively nothing has changed for the reader, beyond expecting a little more reliability of uptime over the years.
all comic pages and previously paywalled patreon posts can also be downloaded in this art dump for free, as mentioned in the new author's notes.
the long story:
When talking shop about site/platform moves under this handle, I think it's useful to realize that us (taboo) kink artists live in an actively adversarial internet now, compared to five years ago.
meaning that we have to live with an expectation that 99% of platforms (including registrars and hosting, let alone sns sites) will ban/kick us without warning. this might explain the overly cautious/defensive way we discuss technologies - weighing how likely (and easily) the tool can be used against us vs the perks.
for example: has a harassment mob bullied the platform owners into quietly dropping lolisho artists? trans artists? does the platform/technology have a clear, no-bullshit policy on drawn kink art (specifically third rail kinks like noncon)? does the platform have a long history of hosting r18 doujin artists/hentai publishers with no issue? does the company operate in a nation unfriendly to specific kinks (eg fashkink artists fundamentally incompatible with companies based in germany, when other kinks might be OK?). i talk with a few different groups of artists daily about the above.
but that gets tiring after a while! frankly, the only path that's becoming optimal long-term is (a) putting kink art on your personal site, and if possible, (b) self hosting the whole thing entirely, while (c) complementing your site with physical merch since it's much harder to destroy in one go.
with that said - I've been slowly re-designing all of my pages/sub-domains as compact 'bug out bags'. lean, efficiently packed with the essentials, and very easy to save and re-upload to a new host/registrar near instantly (and eventually, be friendly to self-hosting bandwidth costs since that's now a distant goal).
how does this look in theory, you ask?
zero dependencies. the whole IRON CROWN comic subdomain is three JS files, a few HTML files, one CSS file, and images. that's it.
no updates that can be trojan horse'd. I'm not even talking about malware though that's included; I'm talking about wordpress (owned by the same owners as tumblr cough) slipping in AI opt-outs in a plug-in that's turned on by default. I used to think wordpress was safe from these shenanigans because wordpress-as-a-CMS could be separate from wordpress-as-a-domain; I was wrong. they'll get you through updates.
robust reliability through the KISS principle. keep it simple stupid. malware/DDOS'ing has an infinitively harder time affecting something that doesn't have a login page/interactive forms. You can't be affected by an open source platform suddenly folding, because your "starter" template is contained files saved on your desktop (and hopefully multiple backups...). etc.
so how does this look in practice?
To be fair, you're often trading convenient new shiny UI/tools for a clunkier back-end experience. but i think it's a mistake to think your art site has to look like a MIT professor's page from 1999.
with IRON CROWN, I've effectively replicated it from a (quite good) comic template in wordpress to 98% of the same layout in pure HTML/CSS/JS via rarebit. Should rarebit's website go "poof", I've got the initial zip download of the template to re-use for other sites.
I frankly have a hard time recommending rarebit for an actively updating webcomic since you personally might be trading too many advantages like SEO tools, RSS feeds, etc away - but for a finished webcomic that you want to put in "cold storage" - it's amazing. and exactly what I needed here.

any particular reason youre not using GDocs? I didnt use to, but since getting my shit stolen ive chosen the lesser evils of CLOUD
I just generally try to use google as little as possible. (Which reminds me, I need to find a new email provider). I generally avoid cloud services just for grumpy old person reasons; they're fiddly and keep changing the rules and I'm not a fan of the sorts of "conveniences" such things tend to offer.
I'm not sure how the cloud makes it harder to have your work stolen. I don't think there's any particular danger to storing stories on the cloud unless you're particularly overzealous about protecting your work from the potential of future AI scraping (google absolutely are capable of using cloud-stored documents for this if they choose to do so, they already scan your emails for keywords to know what to sell you, any 'privacy' they offer applies to outsiders getting your data, not them using or selling it themselves), but just technically speaking it's far easier to get your work stolen if you store your drafts on the internet. I mean, that's where people are stealing it from. If they're stealing your devices to steal your work, the cloud doesn't help because pretty much everyone has their devices set to auto-login for things they use every day (like accessing your drafts). I just can't see a situation in which using the cloud makes your data safer than storing it at home.
I don't use gdocs because I don't like google, have a personal dislike of cloud services (just for Old Man Yells At Cloud stupid reasons), and it just... doesn't offer me anything I'd need. I can't see any advantage to using gdocs, I already have libreoffice. Why would I put myself in a situation where I need internet access to write? It doesn't offer me anything useful that my own computer doesn't already have.
I work between two computers (my desktop and my laptop, depending on if I'm writing in bed or not) and transfer files between them on a flash drive, so I have three reasonably up-to-date copies of my draft at all times. I also queue updates onto my site frequently so if there's a housefire or something almost all my work is uploaded to both Wordpress and Patreon, waiting to be released to the public, and easily retrievable. So losing my work isn't a concern.

It's Harder to Stab When You're Being Punched in the Face

The second is that one advantage that the GOP had in the last two election cycles — the presumption that the Democrats…
