Since work wasn’t bad enough, we had a random power outage and when my computer boot back up, my tablet pressure sensitivity didn’t exist. So have some pen doodles.

In other news, my phone has started borking itself!

Well, technically the phone itself is fine, despite its somewhat advanced age for a smart phone. However its battery is no longer a flat rectangle, and I'm kinda afraid to use it now. This thing is not supposed to wobble on a flat surface.

I have seen a phone doctor, who's going to attempt to replace the battery, however this particular model is built in a way that to access the battery one must remove the screen, so there's a chance of the screen getting broken in the process. Plus, being an older phone and all, they don't have batteries at hand, and it'll take two to three weeks for the replacement to arrive as it had to be ordered separately.

Thankfully a friend of mine has promised to lend me a backup phone to continue functioning while I wait, but it'll probably take untill sometime next week to arrive.

In the meantime, I am so happy I now have a tablet as a backup, so I'm not completely isolated, but man, it's kinda scary to lose one's access to a functioning phone these days, huh.

Before I do anymore blog work today I’m seeing what’s up with my computer. It randomly froze and shut down last night when The Other Q was using it and it’s got us both concerned

After that I do wanna finish Joyce’s new ref. I got the sketch done but had to sleep TwT

on the topic of internet preservation, and on a much lighter note of it. i think archive.org truly is a bastion of internet preservation in the decay of online knowledge and what i can only describe as masses of miniature burning of the library of alexandria. i love archive so much. kissing it on the mouth. but also remember that if you love something so much, and also if you make anything at all. please put the money down for one or two external hard drives and hold a copy or two of whatever you have as well god forbid that vanishes too.

how in the world is mobile compatibility akin to accessibility? a big swath of neocities users are there BECAUSE they hate the way smartphones have become so widespread that many people have them instead of a computer. it's a pretty important part of the movement. "accessibility" is important because disabled netizens deserve to be able to view websites as much as everyone else, not because it can cater to more users. not having a computer is so far from being a disability that it's almost insulting to imply that the two are related in any way.

not everyone has access to devices with bigger screens. devices cost money. some people do not have enough money to purchase device with bigger screen. intentionally excluding people who cannot purchase bigger screen device is classist. (also some ppl just don’t want to have another device, or could buy another but aren’t for which reason.) denying access to someone who cannot afford a device is in my mind pretty similar to things like not providing image descriptions or being wary of eyestrain during creation. PLUS. is there potentially a link between someone being disabled and not having the money for another device? That would be crazy to think about wouldn’t it /sar

mobile support on the small web doesn’t have to be perfect, but how is not trying—or worse yet just being an ass—any better than not having image descriptions? if someone needs yet another several hundred dollar device to engage, what is the point of the “movement”? A web movement that does not try to be accessible is not free. Classism and ableism (just like every other social issue) are linked. What’s insulting is to imply that they aren’t. And if you can’t find some way to make your site more accessible, you aren’t a good webmaster.

addendum that cannot be put in a nice way either: is self sufficiency in regards to technology just not being encouraged or taught or. or what. dear god. i learned how to pirate as a preteen bc i could not afford things. is this just another economic divide
