Oh I just wanted to ask if you have any platonic! Kai x reader headcanons with dynamic like big guy protects smol creature and maybe being a father figure to them?

Actually yes! Warning, though: Kai isn't exactly a great person.

Father-Figure!Kai x Reader Headcanons:

Why are you so smol and weak? It's not worth taking your chi, really. It would be like eating celery: you burn more than you get out of it.

Someway, somehow, though, for whatever reason, Kai can't seem to get rid of you. At first it seems that you keep on running into each other, and then Kai starts cracking a slight joke or two, full of self-satisfaction. "Alright, I refuse to believe it's destiny at this point: you just have to be stalking me. What, are you a fan or something?"

Then this eventually progresses until you somehow bump into him again, and Kai gets so fed up that he just decides to take you along for the ride with him- supposedly, until he decides just what to do with you.

Kai, of course, in the midst of this rash decision, forgot that you are very mortal and still require things like rest stops, food, warmth, sleep, etc.- Transporting you around isn't exactly like carting around luggage. Kai gets annoyed when you point this out to him, but does (reluctantly) provide for you- while claiming that he's just getting you stronger so he can take your chi later.

He's actually a decent cook, but don't ever critique him. "What? I haven't done this in 500 years, I'm a little rusty. Besides, if you were really hungry, you'd eat anything put in front of you without complaint. Eat or starve."

However, as time wears on, you notice Kai starts being a little less harsh on you. His occasional sardonic remarks become somewhat more playful, and sometimes are punctuated by him rubbing his knuckles against the top of your head in a manner one could almost call...dare I say...affectionate?

You find Kai making you little gifts: a cloak to keep you warm ("It won't be on my head if you freeze to death, at least.") A blade of your very own ("You're weak and small. You need some sort of protection. What? Did you think I was going to follow you around to play bodyguard forever?"), etc.

Kai will also start training you a little as well. It seems harsh and unforgiving to you at first, almost to the point of being cruel- but when you complain to Kai he laughs in your face. "Harsh? You call this harsh? You have no idea how easy I'm being on you. You should have seen how I trained my soldiers!"

*Sarcastic gasp* "You moved me at least half a centimeter! What an improvement!...Nah, fifty push-ups. Now."

When you actually start improving, he actually praises you- though at first it's more as if he's praising his own abilities as a mentor- but you can tell he's actually proud of you, how much you've managed to accomplish in such a short time.

However, if you do somehow manage to run into trouble, Kai is there in an instant- he's not letting anything happen to you, even if you can supposedly handle yourself. If you ask him about it, he just shrugs and says that if anyone's going to take your life, it's going to be him.

Kai also yells at you whenever there's the slightest chance you'll get hurt; the louder he yells, though, the more it shows he cares- he might accidently let a few words slip, such as "Do you have any idea how worried I was?! Do that again, and I'll throw you off a cliff myself! Maybe I should turn you into an amulet after all, and keep you out of trouble!"

Kai grumbles under his breath, calling you an idiot, all while he patches you up with more gentleness than you thought him capable of.

Also expect him to carry you around alot. You have tiny legs and it's faster and easier. Sometimes, though, Kai will scare you by running as fast as he can on all fours, laughing while you scream at him to stop, clinging to his fur for dear life.

Seriously Kai loves messing with you. He calls it his prime source of entertainment. At first his teasing and jokes at you are cruel and dark in nature, and often at your expense; but steadily they start turning more light-hearted, and even get a laugh or two out of you (which makes him smile- but you didn't see it).

Basically Kai doesn't want to outwardly admit that you've grown on whatever little shred of heart he thought had long withered away in his chest. Over time, he's almost come to see you as the child he'd never had the time to have.

When he finally does take your chi, he wears your amulet around his neck, close to his heart. It was hard- harder than he would admit, even to himself- but in his mind, it had to be done: at least this way, he tells himself, he won't lose you.

Laughing Into the Darkness is an urban fantasy / supernatural romance about a biroace goth not-quite-boy (Adrian) who falls in love with the prince of Hell (Karavox aka Kenney).

Encroaching Lacuna is a (technically furry) space fantasy / light sci-fi superpowers drama about twins, Taliander and Orian, who get kidnapped from their home planet by an imperial war machine.

Urasdia is an epic high fantasy drama that can't figure out if it wants to be a revenge story or a revolution story. Prince Damian of Vemba, his ex Trinh, and his brothers Viktor and Adrien are major characters.

Salvation is a queer cyberpunk story about unexpected allies. Chaz, a nonbinary cyborg sex worker, has saved up enough to get a bigger apartment - with a stranger for a roommate. But Kevin's pretty quiet, and not a bad roommate... He might be a corpo contract killer, though.

Skyward Force is a video game idea I'm tossing around. It's a Shining Force like turn based tactical RPG about time and immortality.

I have a nameless collection of drabbles and concepts surrounding a fursona of mine, Tara; she's a catgirl sex worker & bartender who lives with her werewolf friend Cormac, who she's in love with. Pretty much anything NSFW I write is probably gonna be in Tara's world, and pretty much anything I write in Tara's world is gonna be NSFW.

I also think about drabbling stuff about my tabletop rpg characters: Mitchell, the tiefling warlock; Djarra, the halfling werebear druid; and Torra, the heretic Mechanicus enginseer.

I'm not very good at socializing beyond either pleasantries or infodumping tbh (it's the autismos) but I do like people and I do like what you're working on!

I'm explicitly avoiding Reality here so please don't try to talk to me about politics, current events, etc. - they upset me too much and I have other avenues for dealing with all that. This space, for me, is just about fiction! (I have already broken this for myself but shh we'll just move on.)

Please avoid asking me how I'm doing, if you can. The answer, though impolite, is "bad, but there's nothing much anybody can do about it, so let's not talk about it". I don't want to make anyone feel bad for me, but I also don't want to lie. Better to just avoid the situation altogether.

I'm not great at responding to tag games or the like; on top of the autism, I got them anxiety and overthinkin' problems, ya dig? I also don't have a lot of words actually drafted for any of my WIPs yet [or, don't have a lot that I still have saved, for some] so games like word finds or last lines etc. are really hard haha. taehyun's character devolopment..... my boy out there really being affectionate for real one time with the a little bit off timing. Like man do seek validation. Still my favorite character tho, can we just have he and kai alive, idc anymore /_ \ my boys need to have a happy ending (don't ask about Mr. Prince, he would be fine in the after life with oc, death or not, his source of happiness is literally the oc loool). I know he's distant but is this suppose a opposite dynamic you planned for the oc? Cause beomgyu >< taehyun, they are like that in real like lmao but not this intense and crazy.

kai, i don't trust you but i like you too honey. I feel bad for him but at the same time struggling since i think Taehyun is kinda right, it was cruel yet but bro, you are turning the land against your brother which is the reason that he don't like the oc anymore. But is that because he didn't how to deal with his brother's situation and he want to help but everything went too fast, his BFF's betrayal and his new sister-in-law who might get them killed by her 'crazy affair' and destroy all the achievement his brother has trying so hard to build? Then i think being with his brother who is cold and distant don't make thing look good for him after his parents' trauma, trauma won't go if you ignore it lmao.

About the oc, i really like her character actually. She trikes me as person who doesn't know anything about the world, i was once seeing a document about a case in which the kid got isolated from world and didn't have anything for herself but her dad's abuse and cruel words to her. It's heartbroken to see. basically she didn't go through this by physically but mentally. Not to mention, the special bond you had or the belief you had for you entire life but then you found out none of it was real, it would fuck you up so hard. It technically have to start at the beginning again (which you were always at, not the faded line you saw and thought you have make it far away) in this chapter , i see a lot of thoughts, emotions, experiences that oc didn't have with Beomgyu (and maybe could never have if she came back or stay instead of going with taehyun). This is what i called living lol, before that she just kinda there, exist in between of the walls of watching eyes, rumour but she couldn't see anything behind the palm of her trusted one and only. i think she would be great and live a normal life without Beomgyu and moving on.

About Beomgyu, babe there is no sit for you in heaven, no wonder you will be in hell. i like you too but- i don't have anything to say to him lolllllllllll. I almost forgot he is also one of the mains TT. let me find my words, wait.--------------------------------- okay, but wait------------------ okay, so what i am saying is if i were the oc with my personality, i wouldn't be crushing on you , sorry author. I just have a very much too fine line about friendship and love, can't be cross but in the oc's scenario, there is 3% of the chance i would fall for him since he was the only male on my radar but then is it make sense i saw him as a brother everytime he was mentioned (I'm sorryyyy). He is a great brother actually. It just urghhhhhh, i can't see the future of oc and him being together forever and after with flowers and sun, nooooooooooooooooooo. even with love, it's hard for the oc to come back normal with him, not missing the time she was with taehyun.

Idk what the closure ending is but I'm so exciteddddddddddddddddddddddddd. I can't wait, this story is so goooooooooooooooood, the plot and everything, ughhhhh.

yeah i kinda based it a bit around their real personalities (loosely ofc) and tyun is more reserved and logical irl but he's also really sweet. and gyu is really energetic and loving but he has a sad side that he hides (that's my interpretation anyway i don't know them)

kai's issue is that he was kinda coddled and sheltered by taehyun (even though he thinks he's not) and he's so attached to taehyun, his only family, that he really is not making the most sound decisions. he's very emotional and he's acting out based on that instead of taking a step back and rethinking he's approach. i feel like he could've convinced oc to go back to gyu if he had used the wonyoung approach instead of screaming at her and getting her all defensive lmao like bro be smart. but again he's not used to that. he wasn't raised in the political climate of the palace. he was raised under taehyun's no nonsense tutelage

Some characters do have specific ways of talking or a characteristic in their speech (like Cater's use of -chan and maybe Lilia's sort of archaic/old fashioned way of talking) and I see that you've translated them as best that you can - thank you for that! - but I'm curious if any other characters have little quirks in their speech too?

Absolutely!! A character’s speech mannerisms can tell so much of their personality in JP compared to EN. I fully believe every character could have an entire paragraph dedicated to listing the specifics of their speech habits, but I don’t feel that one person is equipped to write all that ;; This doesn’t nearly cover everything but I think it has the most noticeable mannerisms

Please keep in mind that this isn’t a native speaker’s interpretation (JP is my 2nd language) and I did this mostly off of memory 🙏💦

Riddle

Sometimes sounds very feminine & queenly

If you know his “o-wakari dane?” or “You understand, don’t you?” this sounds very feminine

But also uses formal masculine speech ends (like ~dai and ~kai)

Either way usually elegant speech, although sometimes drops the formalities/speaks more like his age

Ace

Tends to use the word “papatto” (quickly) a lot, if you pay attention 😂

Deuce 

Slips into yankee speech when his bad boy mode turns on

Ruggie

Ends sentences with “~ssu.” This is a shortened version of “desu” and is popular masculine speech, it’s like you’re trying to be polite but a little lazy/casual about it. I think it used to be considered less refined too.

Azul

Courteous and polite (sometimes rude undertones)

He will usually call others by “anata” (polite version of “you”) but it’s really noticeable when he sometimes goes with “omae” (ruder version)

They call this style of speech ingin burei -- very polite but superficially so. (It makes sense for him)

Jade

Very formal, like a butler (sometimes shady undertones)

“Oya oya”

Always using respectful language

Vil

Always feminine, queen-like/oneesan speech

1st person pronoun: atashi (feminine)*

But as a child he used “boku” (masculine)

“Ara ara”

Sentence ends: ~wa, ~kashira

Gives commands in the “nasai” form (sounds very motherly)

*I’ve seen conversations about how this transfers to English pronouns, and I just want to clarify that atashi ≠ she/her. Atashi is a way to say I/me; third person pronouns aren’t very prominent in JP.

1st person pronouns convey personality and formality (you sometimes change which one you use depending on who you’re speaking to), so it doesn’t necessarily specify one’s gender. Vil’s has yet to be explained.

Epel

Slips into his village’s dialect sometimes, but he tries his best to speak “properly.”

Has a habit of adding “...kana” at the end of his sentences. This has a “I wonder...” kind of uncertain nuance and makes you sound more agreeable rather than assertive (whereas he sounds very assertive in his village dialect). His usage of it is so frequent and sometimes feels out of place.

Rook

Masculine speech but sometimes gets poetic/literary

~dai and ~kai question sentence ends

Idia

Otaku speech. Basically his speech habits are all archaic and what a samurai would use. His honorific for everyone is “-shi,” he ends sentences with “~de gozaru” (this has same meaning as “desu” but again super outdated. Its polite form “gozaimasu” is still common though)

He’s hard to understand sometimes...

He also uses “~dewa?” and “~zo” (I feel like these make you sound really cocky)

Ortho

Textbook-standard speech most of the time, sometimes leaning more informal and other times more robotic (?)

Calls everyone by their full name (with -san at the end)

Lilia

Typical old person speech:

“Washi” pronoun

Sentence ends are like ~noja, ~jaro (usually they would be ~noda, ~daro-- the J sound gives it that old person feel)

The ~nu negative conjugation (not very common in modern speak)

But sometimes he sprinkles internet slang into his speech too 😂

Hello hello! Thank you so so so much for taking interest in the blog and requesting! We honestly haven't gotten a request in awhile so I think we're all a little unmotivated yknow? I honestly can't even explain how happy I got when I saw this. So again, thank you so much for your request! I'm super excited to write this, so let me shut up and let's get started! Let me know if you want this re-done at all!

Notes: I apologize if there wasn’t a lot of kork in this. I ended up kinda accidentally centering this around s/o and even when he is part of the story, he’s kinda ooc.

Korekiyo with a sleep troubled S/O

Korekiyo also had troubles sleeping sometimes, but not nearly as much you

You’d always go to sleep very late and usually wake up in a panic about 1-2 hours later, meaning you were getting very little sleep

Sometimes you couldn’t go to sleep at all

Sleeping meds would help you sleep longer, but never would you stay asleep

Korekiyo was becoming terribly concerned for you

He’s tried his best to help, meds, cuddling, trying to help you think of other things before you go to sleep..

The list goes on, but nothing really works

Finally, he takes you with him to one of his therapy sessions (yes he is getting therapy, he needed it severely)

His therapist, Mx. Toshinori is delighted to meet you! They’ve heard a lot about you

Korekiyo gets a little embarrassed at this

Korekiyo explains your problem as Mx. Toshi gives you a look of worry

When they ask you to describe what you’re seeing and how you feel, you’re hesitant at first, but Korekiyo reassures you

You sigh, and finally explain this damning burden on you

As you explain what you’ve been seeing, and how it’s been such a burden to you, you begin to cry

You apologize and continue as Korekiyo comforts you

When you’re done, Mx. Toshi has already prescribed you something

They explain that the medication should help you sleep better by putting you in such a deep sleep, that you don’t dream at all

They also explain it may be a little harder for you to be woken up, but that shouldn’t really be a problem

Mx. Toshi says you’re welcome to stop in with Korekiyo at anytime if you need to

You take the prescription and thank Mx. Toshi

A few weeks later, you’ve been taking your meds and have been sleeping much better

You become a whole new happy person that Korekiyo hasn’t really seen before

Korekiyo is extremely happy for you and loves this new you

He finds it fascinating how fast you’ve recovered from your state

It's also interesting because Kaz is my favorite, as I'm pretty sure I've said before, and I've never written angst so let's see how this goes. You hugged him, his head on your chest. He can hear your heartbeat, it really calms him down "kekehehe..My dear, thank you...."

Hi! I just finished ‘as it was, baby’ and I just gotta say – wow. Just wow.

First of all, the dialogs and the way you take the time and words to make each relationship important to the pov is AMAZING.

Personally I’m not really a big fan of reading works with the use of y/n because when I read it the voice in my head always says ‘yourname’ before I can mentally switch it out for my own name. But I found it didn’t bother me as much in your chapters! I loved the way you wrote dialogs of banter and bickering in a loving way. It made the relationship so much more realistic for me.

Maybe you can try to write with a nickname for the pov sometimes? Only if you’re comfortable with it ofcourse. Something not necessarily gender based or something specific about the pov’s appearance but I remember I once read a fic where the pov’s nickname was Spark because the pov’s character was really fierce and often had a very sassy attitude. Maybe something like that!

Second, I really felt all the emotions you wrote out for the pov. From butterflies in my stomach because of a crush to nervousness from the realization that it was something more than a crush. The heartbreak, anger, almost rage even. And also the warm feeling of feeling secure and very loved!! It’s an incredible story which I’m most definitely going to read again!

I hit the follow button and look forward to reading more of your works as the time goes by. Thank you for all your hard work, I’m so happy I found your blog and get to enjoy the works you put out on it! ❣️

13. Is there one trope you can’t stand?

So, I didn't remember the first time I got the question but I do now. Overpowered characters. Again, I'm someone who loves character development but I can't stand God-like characters that aren't actually gods. Hell, even gods have weaknesses. But I'm talking about the ones where nothing ever surprises them and they don't have any weaknesses or fears. It gets tiresome trying to interact with something that doesn't ever react to anything. I don't see how it's enjoyable.

17. What makes you insecure about your own writing?

My writing partners, lmao. I have so many amazing partners who write so beautifully with big words I have to look up, amazingly described thoughts/scenes, and with flow that makes reading replies seamless. (LOOKS AT YOU, KAY). Sometimes when I get replies back and read a masterpiece I feel like my reply is something a caveperson would produce.

18. What is one thing you’d wish to see more in the rp community?

More community. Years ago people would reblog promos even if they weren't following the person just to help spread the word. You don't see that very often (honestly it seems like promos aren't really shared in general as much) and it seems like people are just scared to reach out and try and interact. If there was a better sense of community I kind of wonder if that would change?

I like sorbet. I do! I prefer it to ice cream, and I would gladly eat half a tub without hesitation. But if I were to eat it every day? I'd get sick of it. It's always bothersome when something like that happens. Especially in literature. Sometimes, a short story is more enjoyable than a lengthy saga. Good things can come in small packages....

... what was I talking about again? Ah, whatever.

Anyway, let's talk about zoophobia fanfiction.

Those who have had the misfortune of reading my last fic review may recall that I went through each and every chapter of TDL's story. This time, however, this will be structured in a sort of ramble. I will be discussing things in sections, and I will give my overall thoughts at the end. This is a review of "Unexpected " by a "Kalum16" , who, if my memory serves me correctly, goes by @kartoonluv on Tumblr. Now, this review was not requested by anyone, so if Kalum (who I'll refer to as KL for brevity's sake) wishes this review to be deleted, I will comply with his wishes. Also, I suggest that you read this on fanfiction.net before continuing with this post.

Something I would like to get out of the way are my views on romance and the story's pairing. I'd like to bring these up now as I will be mentioning them later on.

Firstly, I have never been in a romantic relationship. However, I have been in love before, and I know people who are or who have been in relationships. That being said, I have considered that perhaps my lack of experience will mean that with certain things... I might not get it. The importance of certain events may be lost on me, and I may not be able to connect with things couples do.

I would also like to confess that Kayla x Damian is one of my least favorite ZP ships. The idea that after Damian basically harasses Kayla, manipulates her and Zill, and basically makes their lives miserable for his own gain, that he can be rewarded by getting the girl? Not exactly something I jive with. Also, (and this is my interpretation) I do not think that Damian's feelings towards Kayla are genuine. By that, I think (due to how little they know about each other) Dame is more in love with his idea of who Kayla is. Or, if we weren't going to look to deep into it and say that it's because he has a thing for Christians, it would make Dame's attraction pretty materialistic. Neither idea really screams "good ship!" to me.

That being said, let's discuss how the pairing is handled here. I'm actually on board with this depiction of the relationship. For one thing, it seems that Kay and Dame have become friends. They clearly care about one another before starting a relationship, and the story makes it so that they can relate to each other. This takes away my issue of these characters not acting knowing each other well, and thus the feelings they have towards one another come off as genuine.

I think that the story makes them out to the a cute couple. However, I still have a major issue with it, and the story as a whole.

Basically, (after a while) I think it's boring.

To best explain why, I would first like detour and discuss Damian and Kayla individually.

Ladies first. I have mentioned in previous posts that I enjoyed the first chapter of this story. Back then, I had not read beyond chapter 1, as I hadn't realized that the story had been updated. And you know what? I still stand by that. In chapter 1, Kayla feels a lot more interesting than she is in the comic. It's interesting to see Kay in a situation where she basically gets what she wants, but she ends up hating it. She struggles with writers block, self doubt and regret. It's sad to see how apathetic she's become, and how she no longer holds the ambition she once did.

I also liked that she still had some internalized prejudice against demons. It made sense, and it made what was going on more interesting as it created inner conflict. Now, if the story was just the one chapter, I would have bought that her falling in love with Dame would have made all her prejudice go away. I mean, you would need to wrap it up by the end.

But we got more than 1 chapter, and thus the evaporated prejudice feels kind of contrived and like lost potential. Hell, it would have been interesting if an ongoing subplot involved Kayla conquering her prejudice by learning about demons and debunking the stories that I heard as a kid. Her just yeeting away her prejudice because she falls for one guy feels kind of lame, and going forward, Kayla feels less interesting in the fic.

Originally, she had all this regret and self doubt. While it's great to see her doing good, her issues feel like they've almost all been resolved by a makeout session. Throughout the story, Kay doesn't grow or develop in any way. Her only real issue is "I'm in love with Dame and ppl don't like it, woe is me"

There's this chapter where Dame meets Kay's parents, and I feel like I should be invested, but I'm more confused than anything. The story points out that Kay's parents were ok with Zill (who's part demon, part whatever the fuck), but they're not ok with Dame. I mean, yes, he's the antichrist, but have they not figured out that their daughter is into some weird dudes? Like, they're perspective is painted as "oh, Kay was such a good girl, and yadda yadda", but, again, they were ok with Zill. You'd think that that relationship would at least make them question that idea? Also, why are Kay's parents deer? Am I missing something?

Kay serves really only one role here. She's Dame's gf, she'll defend the relationship to the grave, and she cares about him. She doesn't become much more than that, and every chapter feels like it's redundant in reinforcing that idea. Like...ok, we get it, let's move on.

Does Damian do much here? Not really. He's mainly the inverse of Kayla for the most part, being "I will defend this love, no matter fucking what". The issue being constantly brought up about how he's the antichrist, so "oh no, that makes things difficult ", is always resolved in about a chapter.

The story feels like it's trying to give Damian some development. I mean, I guess he stands up for himself against Kay's parents, and defends her from his? Oh, and there's that moment where he's like "Yo, I have no control over my life, I don't wanna be a prince, you make me happy ", etc. But not even this really does anything. The meeting with his parents feels like a repeat of meeting Kay's parents. We even get the one parent approval, one on one talk, and it's the mom, just like before. Oh, and Dame's emotional "I will reject prince-y ness to be with you " speech? All that leads to is them having sex.

Ok, well, that last one I might give a pass. I don't find sex to be that big a deal, but I know some people view it as this super important thing, so maybe through that lense, I could see sex as being an emotional payoff.

One thing I won't give a pass is chapter 2, which really didn't need to be here. Jack never shows up again, Kayla can be subtracted from this chapter entirely, and the only build up to this was a couple lines in the previous chapter. The chapter itself is alright, but it feels like it should have been it's own separate story. My only idea as to why this chapter should stay is that, apart from Kayla in chapter 1, this is the only chapter with development. Damian owning up for being a shit is great, and it shows some of only god damn growth for anyone here.

Another chapter that didn't need to be here was whichever was the chapter when Zill showed up again. Admittedly, I skipped this chapter almost entirely. Look, he and Kay broke up, and they're dating different people. That's it. That's all we need. I read the first few paragraphs and the last few. I feel like I don't need to read the entire chapter to know that it's just reinforcing the idea of how great a couple Kayla and Damian are. You know, like basically every chapter in here.

My biggest issue overall with this story is the relationship. As much as I've been ragging on this fic, KL is very gifted at writing. There were some instances where a reread or two could fix some wonky sentences (sounds like me reviewing my posts), but overall he does have a good grasp on it.

That being said, the relationship, the core of this story, is not interesting enough to warrant all six chapters. The only issue Kayla and Damian face are the opinions of others. They never have any reason to question the relationship, question themselves as people, or think about how to handle things. It would have been a lot more interesting if we saw them develop the close relationship the story portrays them as having. It would be interesting if we saw them learn more about each other, or discover ways to deal with each other if one of them is being a dumb bitch. We get it. They love and care about each other. The world around them think it's weird. Every chapter just reinforces the same idea again and again.

I think KL could easily make this better. There's a bunch of plot points that are never brought up more than once that could be interesting. For instance, Kayla struggling to write new songs. We could see more of how she and Dame deal with that instead of having them mention "oh yeah, the problem is fixed now ". Does Damian ever earn Jack's forgiveness? Does Kayla learn anything new about demons?

KL, I believe you when you say these two care a lot about each other. And yeah, seeing how they make their relationship work in spite of what others think is an interesting idea on paper. But the characters don't become closer to each other or anything. Why would I be concerned about the issues presented in the story when I know that they're just going to be resolved in the same way?

You know it's kind of like sorbet...

I would still nonetheless recommend this story tho. Again, as much as I've ragged on it, I still think that the story is good. As mentioned before, I don't have much experience with romantic relationships, so perhaps something here could be lost on me. I'm curious to know anyone else's thoughts.

Fav thingabout him: He is so sweet; if I had a German uncle or grandpa or something, I'dwant him to be mine. He obviously takes his work very seriously too. He(initially) seems like a very cautious, careful sort of guy...unfortunatelythis attitude does not extend to all aspects of his life.

Least favthing: He's too sweet, dammit. His naivete and trusting nature made megenuinely angry, because I couldn't believe anyone could be so stupid aboutanything when he seemed fairly smart about everything else. I don't think youhave to be "street-smart" to understand that breaking out of an enclosedcompound without permission isn't the sort of thing you'd be allowed to getaway with. I was annoyed at how he felt like a plot device at the endthere--that he just existed to force Mike to have to kill him. It's a fault ofthe writing more than the character. Everyone could see the end coming from amile away, which is (as far as I can remember) unprecedented in the series.Even things that were heavily telegraphed and seemed obvious usually carriedsome sort of unforeseen twist, i.e. everyone thinking the lantern was going tobe involved in Chuck's death, but not knowing it was going to be a suicide. Thesecond they showed Mike building up a relationship with Werner, everyone knewexactly where it was headed. Also, this is a weird pet peeve, but I hate how healways called Mike "Michael". Bro, you've been working with him formonths, you are the only one who calls him that.

Fav line:(agh, unfortunately I can't recall any because I don't have any way ofrewatching season 4 at the moment. I love that he was courteous enough totranslate into English that he felt like he was going to throw up in the bumpyvan ride.)

OTP: Werner& his unseen wife, I guess. (That phone call before his death was so sad. I hope nothing happens to her, but this is the Breaking Bad Cinematic Universe, so bad things often happen to innocent people.)

unpopularopinion: I have to admit, I don't know enough of what the popular opinions onWerner are to know what an unpopular opinion would be. I liked him, I just wishhis character arc felt less contrived and that he was treated like less of adevice. I also have seen some people in some places comparing him to Walt,which doesn't really make sense to me, because personality-wise they're justtoo far removed from each other. (Then again, people were even comparing dopeyPryce to Walter White, which was also a stretch!)

Fav thingabout him: Honestly, as a fellow cowardly, anxiety-ridden, socially maladroit, perfectionistolder child, aspects of him are extremely relatable, frightening as that may beto admit. (My younger brother is of the slacker/moocher variety, rather thanthe con man variety, though.) I don't agree with everything he does, but I understandwhy he does it. (This is actually pretty similar to my attitude towardsSkyler's actions in Breaking Bad--I don't necessarily agree with her decisions,but I mostly understand why she acts the way she does.)

Least favthing: I think he should've been willing to at least put Jimmy on some sort ofprobationary path to HHM after he landed Sandpiper. HHM was under no obligationto hire Jimmy after he passed the bar (a lot of fandom seems to feel otherwise,which makes no sense! I don't think any other firm would've wanted to hireJimmy either!) Jimmy probably would've still managed to screw something up, butat least then if Chuck wanted to officially bar him from working for HHM forgood, Jimmy would know why, and what it was that he had done to cause that. Itdoes no good to punish someone if he doesn't even understand he's beingpunished, which is what the whole issue is in the first place with Chuck goingbehind Jimmy's back and using Howard as the perpetual bearer of bad news.

Fav line:"Because if there's one thing kids love, it's local printjournalism."

brOTP: lmao Chuck is bros with nobody except his space blanket, and his ol'sipping-scotch-and-chortling companion Howard, before that relationship gotdestroyed...

OTP: ...althoughI must also confess a SHAMEFUL desire to ship Chuck/Howard, because it's gotsuch a messed up power dynamic, because they've known each other for at least18 years, because Howard's clearly still so much in awe of Chuck (which Chuckprobably enjoys), and because neither of them seems to have any other friendsor close relationships. (Are we ever going to learn what's up with Howard'swedding ring? Even my mom thinks Howard is gay at this point! And what's upwith papa Hamlin? Did he die? Retire?) Canon-wise, I'm actually really curiousabout Chuck & Rebecca's relationship, because I have to wonder what it washe did that caused her to divorce him, but not bear any particular grudge oranimus towards him afterwards. He was clearly really upset about the divorce,but doesn't bear any ill-will towards her either. She doesn't appear to enteredinto any new relationship after the divorce either. It's all very mysterious.

nOTP: I can'ttell if this person was serious or not, but I swear I remember seeing someonepropose some theory that Kim had fucked Chuck at some point, and that's gonnaget a BIG NO from me.

randomheadcanon: oh god I've got like five hundred of them at this point. Themassive infodump that was Chuck's obituary in the season 4 premiere contributedto a lot of them, I think. I imagine Chuck's freshman year of college, at age14, was absolute hell for him. He was so proud to get accepted to an Ivy Leagueschool, but had been upset it wasn't a more prestigious one, like Harvard,Yale, or Princeton. (He had applied to them and had a few interviews, but unbeknownstto him, he had been heavily penalized in their byzantine admissions proceduresbecause, despite his sterling academic record, they didn’t find him outgoing or athleticenough.) His parents put him on the train to Philadelphia by himself, with afew suitcases, a map, and $50. He had no problems getting to the university,but was pretty overwhelmed right off the bat by the fact that everyone else wasolder and wealthier than him; he had dealt with this to some extent in high school, butnot to this degree (I headcanon his fictional alma mater, Francis Xavier HighSchool, as a typical Jesuit all-boys preparatory school that draws heavily fromupper-middle-class suburban families). Here he was, a literal child, thrustinto the adult world, and the world of the elites, at that. He probably feltself-conscious about things he hadn't even realized he could feelself-conscious about before, and spent at least a couple nights sobbing intohis pillow, and praying that his roommate couldn't hear him. Hello! I came a little late into the YOI fandom but i want to write stuff for it, the stories are so good! The thing is, i've never written for fun before, so i dont know how to like,, do it? (Also i'm kinda shy, and English is not my first language) Do u have any writing tips or any advice you could give me? I love your work!

-okay so aaaaaaaa first just remember that, regardless of what some people may say, there is no right or wrong way to write a character. when you write, you want to write what is genuine to you, what you think the characters would do or say. you think victor secretly swears a lot? cool! you think yurio is trans? dope! you think yuuri and phichit were lovers? awesome! there is so much liberty you can take when writing fanfiction while still staying true to the characters themselves.

for me, i like writing yurio so he is actually a sweetheart, and he just acts mean. is this 100% canon? who knows! who cares! because it’s my personal interpretation of him, it’s how i see his character.

so if it’s something you see the character doing, then have them do it!

-think your story idea is cliche or overused? do it anyway! 

listen, take it from someone who has probably read most of the mafia au victuuri fanfiction on ao3. readers don’t care if it’s been done before. sometimes, they look for a story because it’s been done before, and they enjoyed reading it so they want to again! your style is different from other authors, so naturally your story isn’t going to be the exact same.

at this point in history, there are a LOT of stories that have already been done and if you freak out constantly about having a 100% perfectly unique, never been done story, then you are going to scrap so many amazing ideas! your story will ALWAYS be unique because only you can write the story that’s in your head. 

please please please never stop writing a story because you don’t think it’s unique enough. 

-also, you don’t have to post everything you write. if you just want to mess around and write a few silly things just to get a feel for it, that’s totally ok! i have a lot of stuff that i’ve written and never published for various reasons. sometimes i was just messing around with ideas, or maybe i didn’t like how it was. i have so much really old hetalia fanfiction i wrote when i was younger that i would probably die if it ever got published.

and that’s fine! when i first started writing, i didn’t have the option to publish it, but i still wrote, and i shared it with my sisters. 

just try out new techniques, mess around with the way you can word things, play around with how you think a character would respond to something (it’s also a good way to get a feel for the characters) you can just play around and keep those little stories to yourself. 

-sometimes you see people who publish a lot of stuff in a short amount of time. good for them! but if you don’t write that fast, don’t worry about it. you don’t have to post something every day in order to gain loyal readers and followers. trust me, those who enjoy your stories will wait forever for you to update, and they will be there when you do post again, with the same amount of excitement. 

hell, i’ve waited 2-3 YEARS for an update from someone, and i’m STILL waiting, and i’m STILL checking to see if it’s happened yet. when it finally does? you bet i’m going to read that update with love and tell the author how much i’ve missed the story.

and if you DO write fast, and post lots, guess what? people are going to be so excited every time you post. i promise you that you will get followers who will read everything you write. 

-as for actually doing the writing? it can be hard to tell you exactly how to start, because i can’t even remember how i did myself. it just sort of.. happened. 

if you want to get into writing the characters out, then i’d recommend just writing small lines first, just to get your head working to learn how to write stories for fun. 

“Victor whistled while he walked.” “Yurio sighed as he pet his cat.” 

just write small things first, little actions. slowly that can make it’s way into a story.

“Victor whistled as he walked down the street, glancing from house to house. He wondered how everyone was doing. Since his skating accident, he hadn’t seen anyone in ages. Did they miss him?”

“Yurio sighed as he pet his cat, lowering his phone from where he had been scrolling instagram. Yakov had sent him home for ‘bad behavior’ and he was so bored.”

-and if you can’t think of anything to write about, writing prompts are the BEST THING EVER. just search them up on google, pinterest, instagram, or i like to search here on tumblr. sentence prompts, idea prompts, character prompts. the people who write them out are amazing and there are so many great ideas of things to write. actually a lot of i write comes from writing prompts. just take an idea and think “in this scenario, who would be who? what would they do to solve the issue? and how did they even end up in this situation??”

-another good place to get ideas is music, or at least in my case. i love listening to music when i write, too, because it can set the right mood. feel like writing something fun? boppy pop songs. angsty? emo songs. a little crazy? lord knows there are some weird songs out there. 

and then there are songs that have stories and you just want twist it just so, and write the characters there. the first song that comes to mind for me is “Whiskey Lullaby” which is a very sad song, with a very sad story. but hell if i haven’t considered writing a story based on it. 

-then of course, there’s writing a story based on another one. whether it be based on a shakespeare play, that movie you saw last week, your favorite show, a book you read as a kid, etc. that’s ok too! even writing a story based on a different fanfic. tho of course, you always want to cite your inspiration in this case. i’ve read stories that were based off of others, that they asked if they could write a story in the same world, even. and those stories stood on their own, and i loved them all.

(me, remembering that my biggest story was inspired by someone else-)

-finally, i tell you that numbers are just numbers. 

this is something that a lot of people are still trying to learn (me included, sometimes) but numbers are fake. 

no matter what number you are looking at, i promise you it’s not worth it to stress out over it. 

number of kudos? number a views? number of comments? number of words? number of chapters?

none of it matters. because numbers aren’t a reason to write. write for YOU, and share the gift you have created with others.

Miss Writer~♡ may I inform you, that I am positively amazed at how your work keeps only getting better and better?

I've read and binge re-read every chapter of YAMQN you have posted till now... including the new one. Maybe it's because I was drinking while doing so but, even though I don't despise Lord Taehyun as much I did before anymore, I still am very much a simp for Prince Beomgyu (and you honestly hihi).

I don't think anything is gonna chance my bias for that type of obsessive worshippy super soft bitch boy character (definitely watched too many reverse-harem anime during childhood), and the fact that Beomgyu is my actual bias in txt is not helping either. At this point i'm convinced that nothing he, the character, could do would turn me away from favoring him.

Kai is now my favorite character. The urge to simultaneously befriend, protect an adopt him kept growing everytime he made an appearance in the chapter.

Parents are, I'm sure, the real evil of this entire story.

Also oc internally nagging about interior design was quite amusing and surprisingly relatable! Her hair has also been through some real struggle in the last two chapters, and I feel for it.

Again... you did amazing, as always ~♡ It's really a (torturous) pleasure to have stumbled upon your page and read the creative product of your mind. Your dedication to developing and putting it out is also pretty endearing, even if I wish you wasn't so harsh on yourself sometimes. And, yes, you could indeed publish it as a book one day! You should definitely try to just change the characters names and pitch it to a publisher... just to see how it goes (if my ex managed to get his epic trash published, I don't see why something leagues better like your writing couldn't). What Hayley did is not worse than Klaus, Katherine or Damon did. I don't like her but Klaus is a true killer and no one blame him for his past. I'm still pissed about what he did to Katherine. Katherine should have a redemption arc, not him! Hayley is not very smart, I never understand why she didn't go away when she had the chance. I never understand her link with Katherine. Headcanon: Katherine is not dead and still queen of hell.

I disagree. I think Klaus gets plenty of references to his past and the things he does. Retribution is literally always on his back tapping him on the shoulder like “Hey you’re a bad person you gotta pay for this and that”) one could argue that maybe Klaus is living a nicer life than he should at the present (I certainly agree that Damon got a wayyyy happier ending than he should have) but I definitely do think that everyone (with the exception of maybe Cami very much gives him due blame for his actions). What Klaus did to Katherine was both horrendous and unnecessary I completely agree.

Personally, I don’t know that Katherine really wanted a redemption arc. Katherine spoke sometimes about wanting to embrace her humanity and having a fresh start but personally, I think Katherine kind of relishes being bad.  It’s like when Elijah says in 4x18 that he wants to find his Katerina under this Katherine facade. And then later in the episode, Katherine expresses how she’s been pretending for so long that she believes her own lies. There’s all of that but I personally feel like Katherine’s character would be diminished if she had a big redemption arc (especially with the misogynistic way these writers write) I think Nadia’s appearance in s5 plus her death was kind of sort of supposed to be her redemption arc. 

On the other hand, I wrote this post on how characters like Damon, Klaus and even Kai can have redemption arcs but Katherine gets dragged into hell, so I see your point.

You’re right anon. Hayley is not very smart. So logically she shouldn’t have been able to have gotten away with half of the things that she has. Part o Klaus’ charm is that he’s cunning he’s managed to stay alive and avoid his enemies not just because he’s an immortal hybrid but because he’s always one step ahead, same with Katherine. Hayley has no charisma, she has no personality she’s a walking plot device. That’s my point. She’s not unlikeable because she’s a terrible person (and she is) she’s unlikeable because the character is flat and on top of that so is Phoebe’s acting.

Hayley didn’t go away when she had the chance because the whole objective of trying to free Tyler’s hybrids was a favor to Shane (to complete a spell or whatever to free Silas I think) in order t get info about her parents. She tells Klaus about the plan because Caroline and Tyler were planning to mess up her plans. So by Klaus killing all the Hybrids, Shane got what he wanted. She did run but then Katherine sent someone to kill her (because again Katherine promised her info about her family in exchange for info about Silas) and then while at Klaus’ house they have sex, she gets pregnant yadda yadda…

So Literally Hayely whole backstory is based on opportunism and screwing over this one and screwing that one just to get what she wanted and she does a pretty sloppy job of it too because she’s not smart well thought out character. Hayley’s character was never conceived to have a whole show built around her and she wasn’t given enough development for it to work. 

To be honest you may just be right. I thought Kat was gone in S5. Then they brought her back for some weak ass plot (even though it was good to see her) Her and Kai seem to be two characters who are relatively unkillable. Ifact all of Team K have had countless resurrections it seems.

Klaus: Died as a human, died-ish in s3, was in a coma in s3 of TO to anchor his family

Katherine: Died as human (a traveler technically), died as a vampire when Elena force fed her the cure, was dragged to hell in s5, died, what? Like 5 times in that series finale.

Kol: Died as a human, and technically lost his witch powers, killed by Jeremy + Elena, Killed by Finn, got bitten by Marcel and got put in the weird coma place with the rest of his family in s3 of TO

Kai: Was trapped in the prison world in 92, died countless times while in there, escaped, got trapped again, was turned by lily, got killed by Damon, returned from hell, got trapped again by Bonnie.

So yeah your headcanon could very well be correct.

You’re trying to get me in trouble, anon. lol. I’ve just been mumbling under my breath about it. I guess I shouldn’t be afraid to speak though, even if it is against the (for some reason) most popular ship. Um, I can’t tell from your tone if you ship it, or if you hate it, or if you’re neutral, so if I offend your ship, I apologize. I’m just calling it like I see it.

Can I make this a general post about Wyatt? Since the tag you’re referencing was mainly about my outlook on Wyatt. But I’ll tie Wyatt/Lucy back into it.

Under a cut because it’s really long and also so anyone not wanting to hear a more critical reflection of Wyatt’s character can abstain.

I should probably preface everything which follows by saying I don’t hate Wyatt. True, of the four main characters, he is my least favorite and the least interesting, but that’s neither here nor there. I think he’s an all right character (nothing groundbreaking) and that he is decently three-dimensional. But the reasons I find him to be a departure from the standard, cookie cutter hero character are, apparently, quite different than what everyone else cites.

So… despite what the fandom almost unanimously believes, Wyatt is not a precious cinnamon roll. He is not a good person. I’m not saying he doesn’t want to be one. And he definitely thinks he is. But he is also kind of a jerk. Which is fine. I like my characters with some depth. I just get a little frustrated by people ignoring his faults or sweeping them under the rug. And I definitely don’t get why everyone thinks him having a relationship with Lucy would be the most healthy and well functioning thing. (Look, I ship Flynn/Lucy, but I’m also calling a rose a rose. It is what it is.)

I leave my own preconceived hangups at the door. Ever since I first watched the trailer, I was already rolling my eyes at the inevitability of the show trying to force them together, like every. single. other. show. on. television. It’s boring, if I’m being honest, predictable. But then I watched the Pilot and was intrigued when they called themselves brother and sister. Actually, I was downright giddy. I couldn’t stop going on about it. I thought hey… maybe they’re actually going for a different dynamic, something unique. Then they did it again in the second episode, a third time in Stranded, and I became really excited at the idea that they would develop a sibling relationship instead. How cute is it for Wyatt to be younger than her and yet end up acting like a big brother? Plus, it’s a lot easier to overlook Wyatt’s faults when the relationship between them isn’t romantic. So, digression aside, I’ll answer your question now.

I’ll start off small and build up, kay?

Wyatt is not over his wife. He’s not. He’s still obsessed with her. He regularly prints out pictures of her and stares at them, tapes them to his wall with the newspaper articles. He sits at a bar looking at her picture and drinking. And his obsession isn’t going away any time soon. He isn’t going to wake up one day in the near future and move on. It’s already been four years, and he is still feeling it. And he’s not done yet. Lucy’s journal claims that Wyatt is still obsessed with Jessica. We don’t yet know exactly when Lucy writes the journal, but Flynn does say that it’s, “A few years from now.” So a few years from now, Wyatt is still obsessed with Jessica and her death. We can’t honestly expect him to be all in with Lucy until he’s over Jessica. That’s not fair.

Inappropriate/Inconsiderate. He’s a guy. Fair enough, right? Excuse it if you want, but what he does in the Pilot is still a jerk move. Wyatt and Lucy are locked in a cell together. They’re standing, they’re pacing around, he’s staring at her breasts. It makes Lucy visibly uncomfortable. She scoffs and turns away from him. Oh, but it was all tactical, right? He had to stare at her chest before his eureka moment hit. Sure. Whatever. Okay, but then (and there’s no excuse for this) he watches as she takes off her shirt and bra! That’s downright sleazy. And the fandom romanticizes this instance? How would you feel if this guy you JUST MET was leering at you and, oh yeah, you’re locked in a room with him? There’s a certain expectation of consideration where you don’t make people feel uneasy. Let’s just say “gentleman” isn’t a word I’m throwing around with Wyatt Logan, aight?

Unstable. There was that part in the beginning of The Alamo where Wyatt is being reassigned. And I have to admit, I was surprised. He handled it with integrity, maturity, and respect towards his superiors. Fiction is so full of loose canons, I’d never seen that before. I was impressed. But boy, he got me good. Because just wait until the adults are away. He immediately descends into an erratic mindset. He begins experiencing flashbacks that are one step away from full-blown hallucinations. He is tortured by survivor’s guilt to the point that it affects his decision making skills. He already had enough of that going on because of his wife. In the Pilot, he’s so distracted by saving Kate the first time that he lets Flynn get away. And then a second time. And then a third time. I have to wonder how Wyatt has the psychiatric green light to be approved for combat, much less such a vital mission whose outcome literally affects the fate of the entire world. The episode posed the question if Wyatt is the right man for the job, and somehow the answer was… yes? Come on. This would never happen in real life. Wyatt’s instability is a liability. Let’s be honest with ourselves, he’s about as unstable as Flynn.

Oh, speaking of…

He’s as bad as Flynn. Not “as” bad, but committing a lot of the same transgressions. You know the body count between them is about the same, right? Granted, several of the people Wyatt has killed are Flynn’s men, self-defense shots with a low impact on the timeline. But others?

That’s sort of… what Flynn does. All the time. And why he does it. 

And the justification here, why we shouldn’t care, is because the guy was a Nazi? Look, he wasn’t a member of the top brass. He was just a soldier guarding some random spot in the woods. He’s not making a lot of decisions about the war. Was most likely drafted. He was just a guy doing as he was told, and he got shot in the back. And any descendants he might have had disappeared. They certainly weren’t Nazis. He was just some grunt. I seem to recall Wyatt’s outlook on the life of a soldier as, “I don’t get trained in why. Just who, what, where, and when.” It’s a bit… heartless. It shows a lack of empathy. That’s all I’m saying. (No, I’m not a Nazi sympathizer. But I do consider the individual within the cause.)

Wyatt actually killed at least six people in that episode. But there’s really no telling how many more were casualties of the rocket he and Rufus set off. Most likely (and at least) there were the four who were next to it when it exploded. Which would bring Wyatt’s contributive body count in that one episode up to ten. But given the massive fire the rocket ignites, there were probably more. (And we can’t even calculate how many of their descendants were wiped.) Honestly, if I did a legitimate tally, he has undoubtedly killed MORE people than Flynn.

He also killed Lieutenant Louis Coulon’s son, which can’t have not had an impact somewhere. And he was a good guy who wanted to feed them. Poor fella.

Wyatt has killed other people in the past. Like Rittenhouse’s men, but those were in self-defense so we have to let it go. Even though an unscheduled death going back 236 years definitely affected a lot in the timeline. That’s dozens of people who weren’t born, though it could easily be a hundred or more.

Wyatt has NO concerns with preserving the timeline, which is Lucy’s primary mission. And it’s very disrespectful how he OFTEN changes events on a whim, ignoring Lucy’s advice (and sometimes her pleas) to be more careful, leave less of a footprint. In response, Wyatt tells Lucy that history is her job and expects her to be his damage control as he runs about doing as he wishes in his mission and changes almost as many things incidentally as Flynn does intentionally. Lucy is so passionate about history and maintaining it and… Wyatt doesn’t really care a lot of the time.

Wyatt is manipulative. To be fair, this is mostly something seen with Flynn. He does it three times in the Watergate Tape episode. He toys with Flynn a bit, makes him think that he’s really willing to listen him. Flynn expresses that he wishes Wyatt would believe him, and Wyatt decides to run with it, use it. I’d let this go because, hey, Flynn was threatening to kill him and that’s just survival. I actually like the idea that Wyatt was consciously trying to trigger Lima syndrome. It’s devious, and I like it. But there’s one instance that sits unwell with me. There’s the really great scene (Goran is such an amazing actor) where Flynn finally fills in the blanks and says what happened regarding his family’s deaths. It’s extremely raw and emotional, obviously a sore spot, to put it lightly. And after Flynn has basically overshared his soul, Wyatt says, “Look. If any of this were true, you have a time machine. Why don’t you just go back and save your family?” It actually took me a few viewings to realize how, well, insidious the suggestion really is. Wyatt KNOWS you can’t go back to a time you already exist. And yet he’s hoping Flynn doesn’t? So he took the heartbreaking story that was shared with him and he then tried to twist and exploit Flynn’s desperation and love for his family until he could convince the man to go back to the night it happened and, in the process, destroy himself. Wyatt tried to weaponize Flynn’s mourning. It’s just very… unsettling. It’s very cold.

And then a lesser instance with Lucy, though his motivations are conjecture. But I gotta be honest that, once again, it just doesn’t sit well with me for some reason. The scene in The Capture of Benedict Arnold where they find out Rittenhouse is one man and the team is trying to decide how they’ll proceed. Lucy isn’t on board, and Wyatt sort of says everything he can to bring her around, up to and including the illogical proposal that it might even bring Amy back. He wants something, and Lucy’s standing in the way of a united front. Keep in mind, Wyatt’s already on board. Flynn bought his cooperation from the beginning. So every point he makes here is for the sole purpose of convincing Lucy. He mentions all the people who will suffer if they don’t do it, and yeah, it’s a great cause but it’s not his cause. It’s not his motive for why he’s doing it. He wants Jessica’s killer. The plight of hundreds is his tactic for convincing Lucy. And the way he finishes it by saying, “What you really believe in is helping people,” it sort of feels like emotional blackmail. He presents the argument in such a way that Lucy can’t ignore that her disagreement and inaction will cause the deaths of all those people. He’s pressuring her to agree with them. Like I said, his motives there are debatable, but I don’t like it.

Temper. Wyatt is a great guy. So long as everything is going his way and everyone is doing what he says. Source? Just… any scene with him and Judith Campbell, honestly. He immediately flips a switch with her, and it’s somewhat frightening to know how quickly he can turn on a person. He has a temper lying in wait, and it can be unlocked with very minor provocation. It’s an overall bad episode for Wyatt with an unfortunate peek at the darker side he definitely has. He tries ordering Lucy and Rufus around the entire episode, snaps at them when they disobey or lose focus. Lucy even tells him he doesn’t give the orders, not that he gives it much mind. He tells her to take it up with Agent Christopher, which she obviously can’t do in the past. Wyatt knows and takes advantage of the fact that when they are isolated the past, he becomes the default power of authority. He doesn’t use it often, but it is a trump card. Lucy and Rufus cannot stop him physically. He’s a well trained soldier, and they’re nerds. Wyatt is aware.

And, ya know, just adding, he goes on to use Judith as bait, something he knows could be dangerous given his nonanswer when she asks if he would do the same with a woman he loved. Lucy told him Judith is important, and he still used her, risked her.

His temper ties in with this next point.

Everything! In! This! Scene!

Good lord. Red flags popping up like daisies. Can we extract the facts from this scene? Maybe if we’re not watching two people act, the story will shine through and hit a little better, a little clearer.

Wyatt and Jessica go out to a bar.

Jessica runs into an old boyfriend of hers.

Wyatt becomes immensely jealous. Even though he and Jessica are married. (Now, I don’t know the girl. Yet. But unless he has proven and established reasons to worry about her being disloyal, this is very insulting.) Wyatt is an over the top jealous, possessive person. 

Let’s add distrustful.

Wyatt’s jealousy leads to him drinking too much.

I’d like to mention the obvious here in that after drinking “too much,” he then drives them home. So… drunk driving added to the list of offenses.

They leave the bar, and, once they are alone, the fight begins.

The shouting becomes so unbearable that Jessica would rather get out of the car than stay in it with him.

Instead of letting it go, at least until they get home, he actually, legitimately stops the car.

He lets her out on the side of a highway. It wasn’t a city block or a rural street. Only highways have mile markers. Have you seen a highway? It’s typically a long stretch of road that might not have anything on it for miles. That’s why they have mile markers. He let her out there.

Because of this, Jessica is (predictably?) killed.

This isn’t a tragic backstory. Flynn has a tragic backstory. He was just a man doing his job and they killed his family. What Wyatt has is the consequence of his actions. The one redeeming aspect of the whole ordeal is that he does at least blame himself for it. I mean, he should. So at least he does.

I dread the day when (not if) they inevitably show us the flashback of that night and end up retconning so much of how the scene is represented. Because Wyatt is a fan favorite now, so they’re going to make every decision he made that night look like a natural course of events that could happen to anyone. You know they’ll do it.

Jealous. Related note to the above point, people think it’s cute every time Wyatt “gets jealous” when other men pay Lucy attention or flirt with her. Noooooooo. Once again, red flag. We’ve heard what happens when he gets jealous. WHY is this cute?

Did I ramble? Definitely. Is anyone going to read all of that? Definitely not. Sorry I couldn’t keep it brief, Anon. I’m a very contemplative individual who thinks too much about fiction. It’s dangerous to ask me a question. lol. No matter how simple it may sound when asked.

I think what we’re supposed to do with Wyatt’s character (which so few do– no one?) is acknowledge that he is a protagonist who is not 100% good. He is the mirror image of Flynn, an antagonist who is not 100% bad. They have so much in common, I truly believe we’re supposed to draw parallels between them. 

So for lots of reasons, I don’t think Wyatt is good for Lucy. Really, unless he changes himself drastically, I don’t think he’s good for anyone. His wife is literally dead because of his jealousy and his temper. And Wyatt just… can’t really handle it when people disagree with him, not when he’s too invested in his own idea. Lucy is too strong willed for something to actually last for very long between them. I hope it never starts. But I rarely get what I want in these matters so…

Once again, I don’t hate Wyatt. He’s still an okay guy. I didn’t list his positive attributes because it wasn’t relative to the question. And there are enough posts about that. But yeah, one day, the glass just sort of shattered and I noticed all of his bad traits that had been building up under our noses the entire time. They add up. He’s just a flawed, unstable hothead. But at least he’s three-dimensional.
